Couple things. Firstly, I've been a member of this site long enough to earn a certain amount of respect.
Hisoka wrote:Look Lucian don't get me wrong if I wasn't so lazy I would use the san honorific or more likely the shi honorific since I know next to nothing about the vast majority of everyone here. But I am suppose I am enough of a westerner to think of the honorific more in their literal meanings then the actual context in which they are suppose to be use. Besides this isn't a dojo so I don't bother with the senpai honorific. And even if this was I wouldn't bother with it. And besides I only really bother with the titles when speaking Japanese as the older members of the Japanese part of the family tree are rather touchy about things.
By the way demanding respect is rather much don't you think so?
I'm going to have to ask the two of you to cease this line of conversation before it turns into a flame war. I don't know how something as mundane as a title could carry on for as many posts as it did, but I'm ending it now.

Re: The Chatterbox Thread
Here at FOG we're supposed to respect everyone by default, unless they prove themselves unworthy of respect. And even then, personally, I act with respect to people even if I don't feel it toward them as long as they're not being harmful to others.
It's a rule, actually. Be respectful and civil. Pretty much no matter what, is how I interpret that. So I really don't care to stumble upon a lack of respect on these forums. Consider this a mild prod. Truly without looking at anyone in particular, I'll just remind everyone: act with honor despite anyone else's actions.
Edit:
Everything before this edit was written prior to the previous post.
All's well.

Re: The Chatterbox Thread
Nope. I'm just pissed. My day has gone SUPERBLY. (Note sarcasm.)
Personally, I love the south. I'm from the south. We aren't all dumb rednecks who care about muscle cars and pick-up trucks... Stereotypes are stupid.
And respect... that just brings up rage about my day. (Not to sound like my poor life. It doesn't suck. I'm just angry.)
So! On that note, how is the rest of FOG? Hopefully having days that went smoother than mine went.
Here's looking forward to a better day tomorrow.

I can deal with the redneck thing it's the KKK thing that freaks me out.
My day was so-so, went to work, hit the gym, grabbed an early dinner, and waiting for the exhaustion to catch up so I can sleep.

Re: The Chatterbox Thread
The KKK thing isn't just the south. That's a misconception. Not that I condone it any way. It's absolutely, 100% wrong. I'm just pointing out that it isn't a 'southern' thing. It just gets a rep there. It's like saying all abolitionists were Yanks. Not true. There were plenty of southern abolitionists and the majority of the south didn't own slaves either.
As for my day... Well, yeah. It's not the best. I've had worse, certainly. But it basically is a big steamin' pile of shit. And I hate being surrounded by so much negativity. Brings me down, ya know?

Yay, I'm at work right now & posting this on my cell phone!
Who else is seeing the new Harry Potter movie at midnight tomorrow?? I'm hopefully going to be seeing it in IMAX with some friends, so long as we all get there before it's sold out!

Re: The Chatterbox Thread
In IMAX? That would be pretty sweet, Fate! I'm probably not seeing it at midnight, haha, but then again, I personally think that the movies ruined the books and I refuse to watch them. I watched the first one in theatres when I was, oh, jeez, eleven maybe? And I was so excited to see it - and it let me down so hard.
But to those of you who do love the movies, I hope it is awesome for your sakes! Ha. Enjoy!

I wonder if J.K Rowling is either cursing the day she wrote those books or is she just milking the cow for all it's worth?
Sticking to your principals no matter the cost....
I am really beginning to understand the meaning of that statement.
So how be the rest of the gang so to speak?.

Re: The Chatterbox Thread
I totally know what you mean about the Harry Potter movies not sticking so closely to the books, xraineyesx. At the same time though, realistically, I can understand that they can't fit everything into a movie, and that from a director's standpoint, the only way to include some major plot points or incorporate something into the film you'd need to alter it a bit just to include it in there at all. It's so restricting, adapting an entire book (espeically ones the size of Harry Potter) into a movie. The two things though that I can say I disgree with entirely with the films is that they could have made it so that witches and wizards didn't know how to dress like muggles and also they really did not need to change the Ravenclaw colors from blue and bronze to blue and silver. That was a strange move.
In any case, I will always love the books more, and I keep trying to tell my boyfriend and my 2 good friends to read the books, since they all like the movies, because I believe it's really worth experiencing the books.
We ended up getting to the theather around 9:00 for the midnight show, thinking we'd need to show up early to get tickets. Well, it was already sold out for IMAX by that time, and the next IMAX showing was at 3:15 AM, so we all just ended up seeing it in the regular theater at midnight, which was fine, since it's not like Harry Potter was even in 3D or anything. The movie was good, just slow in some parts like the book.

I've been sitting on FOG waiting for some RP activity, which didn't happen...so of course now I'm dying to start an RP, a one on one or something, but I'm trying to force myself not to. Just when I'd resolved to go ahead and put up an interest check, I look at my horoscope and it reads
...
You need to stick with the program today, even if you are tempted to branch out or start something entirely new. Your energy is just much better at working with the tried and true -- or the overdue!

Wow, creepy sometimes how horoscopes work. xD
If you want to write something besides your novel, you could always try something short, like a children's book or a fairy tale.

My problem is that I don't want to write, I want to role play

Re: The Chatterbox Thread
What if you, like, invented an alter ego for yourself and set up a role-play like that. So it's not so much the characters that you're role-playing but the alter ego writer! xD
You could even make "writer" profiles for yourself and the other you, and you can role-play accordingly. xD
Pick a role-play you could go either way on, so you'll be less personally invested, and then have at it. You make a character, the other you makes a character (according to THAT "character"), and you have a one-on-one. Who knows, if it's short and just for fun, you might finish and be able to share it!
Or, you never know, it might be awesome.
Or, hey, I just had another idea.
What if you pretend to write as one of the people on FOG. (those of us with senses of humor; which works out to quite a selection) xD
You'd have a disclaimer and the names'd be slightly altered or something, but it might be an amusing exercise to role-play characters and style you think other people might employ. ^^

Re: The Chatterbox Thread
That sounds...crazy lol. I have done plenty of writing by myself (points to 41500 words at NaNoWriMo) I think it is just interaction with all you fine folks I am missing out on.

Re: The Chatterbox Thread
It does sound like a way to develop schizophrenia really fast, doesn't it?
Well, Thanksgiving and NaNoWriMo will probably last us until next week, but by then I plan to have lots of RPs getting caught up! We'll be back in the swing of things (right up until Christmas-time) before you know it!

Re: The Chatterbox Thread
I am really feeling what's the word........freaked out.....I'll use that for lack of a better word as I have seen to misplaced my thesaurus....In that I have to buy one.
I suppose clarification is needed. I have been feeling a constant state deja vu for these last few weeks. Then again maybe it is just insanity kicking in, would be nice. I envy insane people you know, they are totally free from the political niceties invented by hypocritical assholes.

Dio, I don't think I've changed dramatically since I last saw you. If any changing has been accomplished, it's been slight and subtle. =3
Fate, okies. I can be satisfied with that response. ^^_^^ <333333
Jani, aww. Don't worry. I love you, too, and I'm pretty sure everyone else on FoG does as well. :: hugs ::

In the immortal words of Morgen from DA:O "I am the only one who feels like gagging."
Nah just kidding people, but the love is ground around. Almost makes up for the fact I can't find my blasted sweater.
