I want to try and reach 40,000 by some point today. Hopefully before I go to work, but if not then after I get home. Which will technically be tomorrow...but it will still feel like today Smile

That will be about 9000 words in a day... affraid

Wow, Silv. That will be more than my most daily - which is around 5k during an AWR-word-war.

I'm at 47,150. Going to finish this weekend Smile

That's awesome! I wish I was that close to finishing. But at the same time...I don't really want to finish Sad I still have a lot more to write about, and I know I won't get it all in within the 50k words.

Edit:
I did it! 9,000 words in a 12 hour period! That has to be a record for me. And it was most certainly fun and productive Smile
I'm officially ahead of schedule, and hopefully I can finish up a few days early. That will make Thanksgiving week at work a bit easier on me.

Congrats, Reffy! I can't wait to reach 50k myself. And I will only be about 3/4 through the novel myself, so I will have to push myself to completely finish it on my own and then edit it.

Today is hopefully the final day! I will update my progress in this post per every thousand words. I just reached 41,000, so I will edit at 42k, and then 43k, etc. Hopefully it won't take too long to hit 50k Typing

Edit: 12:46 - 42k words

Edit: 2:05 - after numerous interruptions revolving around a teething one-year-old that refused to take a nap, I've finally reached 43k words.

Edit: 2:34 - 44k words

Edit: 3:15 - 45k words. Now my son is trying to climb all over me... time for a break for a while. Halfway there!

Edit: 5:05 - 46k words

Edit: 5:39 - 47.2k words

Edit: 6:13 - 48.1k words

Edit: 7:20 - 49k words. Interrupted by dinner, but now I only have 1,000 words left.

Edit: 7:50 - 50k words!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No rest for those with children Sad

3 winners so far on FOG. That is really awesome! Hopefully we see one or two more come through. No one else really updates their status, so I'm not sure where they are at.

Congrats again, Reffy and Digital_Muse, for being able to pull this amazing achievement off!

cheers

I was thinking about it. then I thought of all the research paper stuff I have to do (got 3 this semester) plus all the reading I should do for class. I don't know if I will have time. Although it does sound like a fun and stressful way to write a novel... Don't know yet but I am thinking about it. Anyone else here going to do the contest or like me thinking about it?

I don't know, Ryona, Sunwolf. I started one last year and failed (though I got 25,000 words) and am still working on it. I don't think you can work on a story that is in progress, can you?

No it has to be completely new but in all reality they would never know if it was I think. It's more of a good faith thing. I know they encourage the use of outlines and notes but no pre-made material.

Yeah, that's what I thought. Well, I think October is the planning month, but you aren't supposed to write any of the story during October. You're supposed to wait until November to do that, I think.

And true, they never would know, but I'm not a cheater, so... I mean, it might be cool to try it again just to see if I could do it. I'm seriously thinking about it.

If anyone else on FOG is doing it, we should make a support group, post our profiles, etc. So we can support each other. :]

EDIT: Ryona, are you doing it this year?

I'm planning to. I know our role-plays might suffer, but I figure they would anyway because of the holiday season. Smile

I just have a lot of planning to do, and my birthday's coming up in early early November, so that always seems to be a setback... Razz

We'll see how it goes. ^^

I think I'm gonna give it a shot, put my other project on hold for the moment, and just write. Couldn't hurt, could it?
