Re: The Battle of Celebrant OOC
Very short post from me, can't believe I took that long with it. I made it so the journey described in my last post (with Leo and Helmgar in the woods) happened two days before the post where the Elves arrive. I also tried to find a suitable enough way to bring my character into all of it, not sure if it came out naturally enough.
As always, if there's something amiss - feel free to point it out.

Gadreille, let me know if you want to collaborate on anything, since the elves are still at Aethylwyn's house.

Re: The Battle of Celebrant OOC
I was thinking about, for sake of keeping things interesting, skipping to the next day when the rider comes. Maybe sprinkling in a conversation between helmgar and leohelm. Is there something else you'd like to add? I would love to collab regardless.

I'll PM you once I get back home from the lab. I think skipping to the next day sounds like a great idea to move things along.

Awesome. I'll start drafting an outline of my next post. Hopefully our Gondorians will be inspired to continue XD

Silvan sent me her bit. Expect a pm from me no later than this weekend, blackrock. We're going to have a brotherly conversation before I switch to aethylwyn and the elves once again. Then...prepare for eorl's rider!

Re: The Battle of Celebrant OOC
Posted! Entwash crossing, complete!
We are now very close to the northern army and the balchoth crashing into each other among those hills. A couple days, I guess, right?
I figured any advance force would end up being scouts vs. scouts, so our tulkarim mostly likely won't see any action until this coming main battle.

Awesome!
I sent my part to blackrock, but it's a slow work in progress we have a lot to cover before we can skip to the next day.

Re: The Battle of Celebrant OOC
Sounds good It will be like a Pippin moment, waiting on the edge of a battle. They will hear about the encounters, and by the time word gets to them it will be exaggerated beyond proportion... I think I'll have fun with this one
Edit: I've posted. Basically, the ambush was simply a small group of balcoth (though large enough to overwhelm the scouts) that are going to use these tactics to wear out the army. It will keep them marching, though never to encounter an enemy of a large size. Once they start to catch on to the tactics, the Balcoth will spur them on from behind. It will set up the very hectic battle at the Fields of Celebrant rather nicely

Re: The Battle of Celebrant OOC
Sounds good. ^_^ I liked the post! Good characterization as always.
Also, nothing Anglad wouldn't say--played straight, in fact; bravo!
And, if I may be forgiven, I noticed a couple of miniscule apostrophe errors. The only time apostrophes are used for plurals is with things like 1980's or A's, and the only time apostrophes aren't used for possessives is with pronouns, like his, hers and its. So plural cainenhîr would be cainenhîrs, unless you use the elvish plural, which changes vowels instead of adding the S. And a long nights march is actually possessive, so 'twould be a long night's march. (a day's worth, two months' time, etc.)

Re: The Battle of Celebrant OOC
Thanks, Kalon! I'll get those when I find the time/energy/motivation. And I'm glad you liked it I would have PM'd you for character lines, but I really just wanted to get the post written, so I kept his dialogue to absolute minimum. Pretty much what you did with mine the post before I think it works well enough.

Re: The Battle of Celebrant OOC
Yup. ^^ I guess at least for minimal dialogue, we've got an adequate handle on each other's characters.
Re: The Battle of Celebrant OOC
Just so you all know, the three way celebrant collab is currently sitting in my lap. I hope to finish my part and pass it to silvan this weekend. Originally it was going to go through to the next day but I might just let silvan post it after her part is finished.

Re: The Battle of Celebrant OOC
Sounds good to me I'm flexible and can write as much as you need for this post or defer some stuff for my own post down the road. I'm finally caught up on my other RPs, so I can give Celebrant my full attention when you pass it to me.

Re: The Battle of Celebrant OOC
Awesome. I think I want to split this in two; after I write aethylwyn's POV, let you write from the elves POV and finish wherever you wish. If you want you can write about a rider coming into town the next morning. Then blackrock and I will collaborate that bit (coming to you if the elves are ever involved).
How does that sound?

Re: The Battle of Celebrant OOC
I like that idea. For the sake of moving things along, I can end the post with a rider coming into town and then pass it off to you and Blackrock to collab on the nature of the rider's message. And by all means, loop me into the collab if it concerns the elves. I have a feeling it will, since they'll be going as well if Greybarrow musters the warriors.

We definitely will. Also, your last bit can be as long as you will it to be. This is turning out to be an amazing story, and I'm so happy to be writing it with you all.

Re: The Battle of Celebrant OOC
I was reading over what I have so far for this next post, and my medication-addled brain stumbled over an amazing detail that I thought I would share with you all, my friends.
We all know that Leohelm is the father of three daughters who lost his wife at a young age. I've suddenly realized that I have built Leohelm, unintentionally, much like my grandfather, whose first wife died very young and left him with three daugthers (who are all now deceased). Trying to imagine how Leohelm would feel losing his daughters made me understand again just what pain my Papa has gone through in this life.

Re: The Battle of Celebrant OOC
Hey all,
Sorry for the delay in getting the next post done. The collab between myself, Gadreille, and Blackrock is now on my plate to finish. I would have done it sooner, but I had a bunch of real-life stuff eat up all my free time. I adopted my adorable kitten Nyla last week and was offshore on a research cruise this week. By golly, I will get it done this weekend!

Re: The Battle of Celebrant OOC
Blackrock, do you want me to post next, or you? Whoever posts, I'd like to take it to the next morning when the rider comes.
Also, having seen the Hobbit, I'm so thinking Radagast shout make a surprise cameo in this RP.
And, I guess I should have asked this first, but are we all prepared to continue?

Re: The Battle of Celebrant OOC
Of course.
If The Hobbit can't spur us on, nothing can.
Interesting idea, seeing Radagast.
He stays in his forest most of the time, but it just might be possible for some Mirkwood elves to see him on the way down, if they pass that way.

Re: The Battle of Celebrant OOC
If I remember correctly it was with Galadriels aid that Eorl and party make it past Dol Goldur...maybe Radagast pitches in too? Nothing crazy, just one little scene in his honor.

Re: The Battle of Celebrant OOC
Went ahead and dug up some quotes.
====================
"I am a wizard," continued Gandalf. "I have heard of you, if you have not heard of me; but perhaps you have heard of my good cousin Radagast who lives near the Southern borders of Mirkwood?"
"Yes; not a bad fellow as wizards go, I believe. I used to see him now and again," said Beorn.
––The Hobbit; Ch. 7: Queer Lodgings
"I turned then east and north and journeyed along the Greenway; and not far from Bree I came upon a traveller sitting on a bank beside the road with his grazing horse beside him. It was Radagast the Brown, who at one time dwelt at Rhosgobel, near the borders of Mirkwood. He is one of my order, but I had not seen him for many a year."
"Gandalf!" he cried. "I was seeking you. But I am a stranger in these parts. All I knew was that you might be found in a wild region with the uncouth name of Shire."
"Your information was correct," I said. "But do not put it that way, if you meet any of the inhabitants. You are near the borders of the Shire now. And what do you want with me? It must be pressing. You were never a traveller, unless at great need."
"I have an urgent errand," he said. "My news is evil." Then he looked about him, as if the hedges might have ears. "Nazgûl," he whispered. "The Nine are abroad again. They have crossed the River secretly and are moving westward. They have taken the guise of riders in black."
––The Fellowship of the Ring, Part II; Ch. 2: The Council of Elrond
(Saruman totally stole his line. xD)
"The Nine have come forth again," I answered. "They have crossed the River. So Radagast said to me."
"Radagast the Brown!" laughed Saruman, and he no longer concealed his scorn. "Radagast the Bird-tamer! Radagast the Simple! Radagast the Fool! Yet he had just the wit to play the part that I set him."
––The Fellowship of the Ring, Part II; Ch. 2: The Council of Elrond
Indeed, of all the Istari, [Gandalf] only remained faithful, and he was the last-comer. For Radagast, the fourth, became enamoured of the many beasts and birds that dwelt in Middle-earth, and forsook Elves and Men, and spent his days among the wild creatures. Thus he got his name (which is in the tongue of Numenor of old, and signifies, it is said, "tender of beasts").

Re: The Battle of Celebrant OOC
Bah, I haven't even watched The Hobbit yet, can you believe it?! All the tickets for the weekend projections were sold out and I don't have any time during the week, so I'll have to wait until the next weekend. *sobs*
As for the next post, I don't really mind either way. It's going to affect all characters equally, warranting their POV, so the order hardly matters if you ask me.
A Radagast cameo would be cool, according to something I remember (will need to check) he lived in Rhosgobel as pointed out by the quotes Kalon listed above. And Rhosgobel itself should be somewhere on the western edge of Mirkwood, between the Old Forest Road and the Carrock. (though by the time of the Hobbit, he seems to have moved further southwards). The greatest problem though is not geographical location, but his willingness to travel. We'll need to figure out a reason for him to take an interest in our passing...or maybe he can act through one of his animal friends. Still, there's plenty of time to think of something

Re: The Battle of Celebrant OOC
Omg, it hurts to know you have not seen it yet!!
My idea for Radagast is that maybe he sees Eorl's company in danger and contacts Galadriel, who in turn helps them get past Dol Goldur. But....it's just a thought.
