Re: A Monstrous World We Hold -OOC-
Gonna be out of commission this weekend. I'm helping with treasury stuff for a major swing dance event, and it runs pretty much around the clock. I'll mainly be home to sleep, shower, eat, and change clothes for the next dance until Sunday evening. Sorry for the delay!

Wow, Silvan, sounds like you lead a rather busy life. Sounds good busy though.
I really feel bad that a few of you guys won't be posting till next day. For that sake I'll start trying to put up my posts faster just to get this moving along so everyone can play. Thankfully I put one up already but.... eh... I'm starting to ramble.... let's just say I want it to be next day soon and am pushing for it...
My god what is with me tonight... I can't word myself properly at all in any form other than writing. Almost caused some serious drama in a livejournal community earlier... *goes off to get some food or possibly medicine*

Re: A Monstrous World We Hold -OOC-
Sorry, everyone, but I've had family in town and have been volunteering with my marine lab for the past few days. I'm playing major catch-up right now, but I'll try to post as soon as possible.
I had an idea, Skitzo, for my next post. Since your character just took the plunge into the drink, I could have Maikka pull her out and get them both to safety away from the battle. It would at least get some character interaction going. Thoughts?

Re: A Monstrous World We Hold -OOC-
I was actually hoping something like that would happen. Considering Haunter's made out of air I don't think he could help Becca underwater and I really think she just used up the last of her energy with that whole thing. So it sounds like the perfect idea to me.
Re: A Monstrous World We Hold -OOC-
Great! I'm completely slammed with work for the next few days, but I'll make sure to include that in my next post.

I just posted. Skitzo, let me know if there's anything you want me to change. I just had them go back to Maikka's house, but if you want me to back it up to where they're still on the docks, I can do so if it makes it easier for you to write your next post.

No, everything you did was perfectly wonderful. I enjoyed it, and I'll definitely work on a post for you in response.
This is out of curiosity though, how many people are STILL in this RP? Please, post if you're still in.

Re: A Monstrous World We Hold -OOC-
Is it too late to join? I kind of skimmed this OOC and read the IntChk in detail, so forgive me if I'm wrong.
It's an interesting idea; I had a short story once about an organization that basically looked into the idea of evolution of mythological creatures.
Because it was fiction, they all really existed, and I had a great time with the "Field Agents" who would go to contain them for study. More than one got eaten...maybe I'm too cruel.
But, I digress. If you have room for one more, I'll begin working on a -little- profile for a character. I must say I'm rather excited. This is something I've never considered, despite my fascination with other fantasy creatures. I would be delighted to join. This would be my first RP here ^_^

Well, none of us here can make any promises because we are not the GM of the thread, but I have sent a PM to YenWen to let her know we need a reply in the OOC. When/if she comes on, she'll let you know for sure.
I for one can say that it would be honor to take you FoG RP virginity in this thread. XD

Re: A Monstrous World We Hold -OOC-
I posted again, Skitzo. I hope you don't mind that I had Haunter cause a little bit of mischief . This post was a lot easier to write now that we've got some character interaction occurring.
In answer to your roll call, I think it's pretty obvious that I'm still invested in this role-play. Did you ever hear back from Yenwen regarding Starstruck joining? I haven't seen Harper around for a while, so Starstruck would definitely be a welcome addition to add some new blood to the story, so to speak.

Haha... That post was both adorable and hilarious. XD I could just imagine Ifrit struggling to stay still and I really just want my own Aquila. And you did wonderfully with Haunter. I have no problems at all there.
Unfortunately, no. I have not heard from Yenwen at all. Doesn't look like she's been on for well over a week actually and from what I heard on her last day here she was going through some sort of personal issue. I don't think it would be safe to assume she's coming back anytime soon.
Still I looked back on the interest check and stuff and it looks like there was no player limit on this RP so... If I may be so bold.... I don't think she would have any problems with Starstruck joining.

Re: A Monstrous World We Hold -OOC-
Awww yay! I'm glad you liked it. I pre-ordered Pokemon White over Black for the sole purpose of getting a Rufflet/Braviary because it's a version-exclusive. And I'll give anyone who guesses the reference behind Yakul's name a metaphorical cookie ^_^.
Hmmm...based on your info, it sounds like Yenwen may be out of commission for a while. I think we're still in the early enough phase of this RP that Starstruck can go ahead and make a character. Right now the major players are you, me, and Dio, and we've got a potential conflict going on with Dio's character being involved with smuggling and the genetic splicing, while Becca seems willing to put herself in the line of fire and Maikka just doesn't know what to make of all this. I think Starstruck could easily make a character that plays into all this somehow and we can build the story from there.

Re: A Monstrous World We Hold -OOC-
Very nice. I may get white instead of black for that very reason as well... That is if I want to get the pokemon games... which due to this RP I'm seriously considering. And I couldn't guess Yakul's name so I looked it up. Very awesome... but sadly I get no cookie for my discovery.
I whole heartedly agree. I see no reason why he can't join.

Re: A Monstrous World We Hold -OOC-
I wanted to apologize to you all for the long pause. Very long pause. College is college is college. It's hard to explain past that, especially with midterms in the wake for Harper and I. Good news is, Black and White comes out tomorrow, and, if we can get this going again, I hope to incorporate the aspects of both games (since they have different plot lines and such) into the roleplay.

I hoped it was something like that. Glad that your here for however long you have. Hmmm.... maybe I should get myself Black or white too.... >.> It's been so long since I've played a pokemon game. I'm sure I will enjoy it.
What about Startstruck, btw? Is he okay to enter the game?

I see no reason why not. It's very early in, so it'll all depend on their profile :3 I'd like to have as many different perspectives of this world as possible~

I also highly recommend getting the game. It's supposed to really change how the game works. Since a lot of the new species has the ability to switch forms, and to interchange randomly in battle, it incorporates more strategy.

I'm getting White once the store opens at 9 AM and then playing alllllll day! So excited! And I'm glad you're back, YenWen! Believe me, I know how stressful college can be. Grad school is even harder...

I'm doing the same, Silvan, but I'm getting Black :3 Harper's getting White, but he has to wait until the afternoon, since his dad preordered it and has to buy, which will have to wait until he gets off work, blah blah blah. Anyway, I'm going to flaunt it in his face.

Which is a fail, I'd pick it up myself, but he preordered it at the gamestop on base, and the last military idea I had was when I was fourteen so...
As for the rp, I think introducing a new character would be a great idea. Tomorrow while she's diving into the new game I'm going to catch up on all the posts.

Heehee, White FTW. Zekrom kicks the other guy's butt aesthetically.
EDIT: I started playing it the other day. It's...fun, to say the least. To say the most, I will never get bored of playing it. The graphics are amazing! <3
EDIT: Oh, God. Did I write that? It's like two pages! I hope you don't mind...it's really long, and I don't think I captured the tone correctly. But oh, well, I think it'll be fine. Say hello to the lovely Julia.
CS coming in a double post, as soon as I finish the mini-editz like proofreading and copy-pasta.

Be warned; opening that spoiler automatically stretches the page. His history is long, and arguably controversial.

- I predict that the this post will be so long with the spoiler that the next poster will be on the next page!:
What’s your name?
I’m Nigel Bleufen.
Mhm, and you’re how old?
Seventeen.
What do you look like?
I’m lean and fit, about six foot two, and I have dirty blond, short hair. My eyes are a blue-green that seems about the color of the sea. Why do you need to know this? You’re standing right in front of me!
Well, isn’t that nice. What’s your life like?
Um…this’ll take a while.
I’m not sure who my parents are, but I know that they must have died a little while after I was born. My earliest memory was of waking up in a hospital. Nobody would tell me what happened, not even after I was old enough to understand. They all seemed to think that I knew my parents well at seven years old, but I can’t remember squat about them. I think I might have had amnesia, because the only thing I remembered was my name.
When I was healed, they sent me to a foster home. I loved my foster parents, and stayed with them happily until my adoptive mother’s death when I was nine. She was old, but barren, and they had lived for years with several foster children running about their large house. When she died, her husband sent us back. I saw a Shuckle in the backyard that looked hurt, so I was missing when the truck came. When I came back through the window, I saw my brothers and sisters being helped into a large truck, and my foster father watching them go, a kitchen knife clutched in his hand. As the truck pulled away, he pulled it up and…you know…right in front of my nine-year old eyes. I fled, snatching up the Shuckle and carried it up with me as I dashed helter-skelter through the woods with tears streaming down my face. Finally, I arrived back at the house I had lived in, and I quickly took my possessions and packed them up before leaving. It seems I had run in a circle.
I took a map with me, and I chose a spot in the very center of the forest. There, I found a large tree, with tons of saplings around its base. There was no carving in this tree; it was secret, maybe even sacred. I set about clearing the area of the small trees, building them into a light house. I remember falling asleep amid the chaos of my shoddy work, only to wake up to its completion. The hurt Shuckle had built a tidy little tree house and had a few helpful birds put it in the massive tree. Over the next week, I added to it and nursed the Shuckle to full health. By wintertime (I arrived in spring), it was warm enough to last the coldest nights. There I stayed, for five whole years. In that time, I discovered the reason nobody came to the tree.
A massive Tyranitar frequented the tree. It was her nesting place, but she had been out and about mating while I had been building the house. When she came back, it was with a massive thud as she dropped a shining black egg into a depression by the tree. For several months she protected that egg, but when it hatched I had the misfortune to be on the ground. There came a cry, and the mother Tyranitar awoke.
We regarded each other warily, daring each other to make the first move. Well, I’m sure she was, but I was just lamenting that the rope to let me up was near the tree – near the nest. I couldn’t move. Finally, the Tyranitar put her head down and nudged the baby Larvitar – towards me! I was so surprised, I didn’t even move until the baby tottered over and touched my leg. It was so cute, I couldn’t help but pet it. Even so, I felt like I was going into shock. She trusted me with her baby! How fascinating. I whispered the nonsense word, “Geddeck” to it, and from then on it was one of my best friends. You have to understand that I had very little experience with battling in general, isolated as I was, and the only Pokemon I really knew had been the household Lillipup and Sarku, my Shuckle. Being ten, I adopted the Larvitar in my mind, but the mother Tyranitar wouldn’t let me keep him in the tree until one day…in a string of coincidences too long to name, I saved the baby Geddeck from a flock of angry Beedrills. That was my first conflict, and it was enough to prove my worthiness to the mother. Being unable to talk didn’t stop her from letting me know that she trusted me; I woke up to a little green snout in my face! Somehow, Geddeck had (with some urging from his mother) climbed the rungs of my little rope ladder to reach my house. It was very cute of him, and from then on he lived in the tree house. The mother Tyranitar prowled around the tree house, but I suppose eggs don’t come quickly for that species. I fear her departure because I have gotten quite used to having her around.
Anyway, I lived like that for the next year (year three), when Psyche the Venonat arrived. She was badly hurt, and I helped her recover to full strength again with Sarku’s help. Psyche decided to stay in the house with me, but I had a sneaking suspicion that the first few weeks she just hung around for the candies that Sarku produces. I petted her often, though, and soon she became fast friends with me and even with the mother Tyranitar, whom I christened “Julia”. That was the name of my foster mother, and I guess I wasn’t that willing to let her go that easily. She’s still there, and willing to welcome me back if I need to stay there for a while.
So I’m on…Psyche, right? Well, the next three I came across were all together, fighting in a clearing. None could win; I saw that clearly. The Ralts kept blasting the Mienfoo with psychic attacks, the Pawniard kept using dark attacks on the Ralts, and the Mienfoo kept punching the Pawniard! It was a vicious cycle that was put to an end with Psyche, Sarku, and Geddeck’s interference. The resulting battle was tough, and it was my very first actual battle against three opponents. I won, thankfully, and Sarku helped me heal the three back up. They were exhausted from the nasty fight, but they got better. After that battle, Geddeck was caught inside a cocoon of some sort! I was scared until he opened his eyes and showed me that he had evolved into Pupitar.
Well, by then I had found handy containers using special fruit that I called Apricorns, after the sweet treat that Julia used to give me before she passed combined with the golden plant that I found in random fields a ways away from where I lived. Was it stealing? I certainly didn’t think of it that way, but that could have been my immaturity shining through. I most certainly was never found, which I count as lucky.
Do you have any Pokemon?
I just told you! I guess I’ll condense it, though…I have Sarku the Shuckle, Geddeck the now-Pupitar, Psyche the Venonat, Sing the Kirlia, Hack the Pawniard, and Kojaria the Mienfoo. Back with Julia, I keep a few injured Pokemon with a huge supply of Sarku’s special healing juice. There are too many to name right now, but I can remember an otterlike Pokemon, a turtle Pokemon, and some sort of pink fluffy thing that bounces. It frightens me, to tell the truth. Most of the injured leave, but some stay, especially if they think they can help. While I’m away, I hope to keep in touch with Julia to make sure everything’s working out alright.
Awesome. Anything else we should know?
If I’m to be classified, I would say as a Healer-Fighter. While my first instinct is to help, I’m not combat-averse, and when I’m attacked I can hold my own. I tend to pick up a lot of Pokemon due to my trusting nature, so I think I’ll have to ask Julia to get some help for ferrying extra friends back and forth. I hope I have a good time on my adventure! <3
Be warned, though; even though I like to help, if I see a Pokemon, human, or animal being abused, I will do all in my power to make the abusee feel better…and the abuser wish I had never happened by. This makes me a lot of enemies. I hope Julia doesn’t mind…she’s a good defender, but she must feel overwhelmed.
For Julia!

Re: A Monstrous World We Hold -OOC-
It sounds fine as long as you can hold up a decent explanation for each pokemon. Of course, some are easy to explain, but for their moves, make-up, and terms of evolution need to be held up. As explained before, when it comes to evolution, it's normally a small process, except for the encounter of evolution stones, which are extremely difficult to explain by science.
*Also, I finished Black yesterday, or at least got to the credits. There's still a good portion of the region you don't discover until afterword. EXCELLENT ending.
