Re: Calling Major Tom (Re-do)
But I will have it ASAP.
Actually, I pmed you about something, so... yet another delay. My apologies.
Scratch all that. I did PM you and I'm still interested in that, but another character for an old roleplay inspired me (and by inspired, I mean I tweaked her). Hopefully her bio and such fits in to the world.
___________________________________________________________________________________________
Name: Alayna
Nickname: Anna (pronounced Ah-nuh)
Faction: Otherworldian
Alignment and Personality: Good neutral
Alayna is frequently viewed as aloof and uncaring as she often seems to not pay attention or listen; she is, however. She just doesn't have much to say usually. But this doesn't stop her from saying whatever is on her mind or being upfront.
Underneath her coolness is a fiery temper that she had learned to control and cover up, but she never hesitates to get in a fight, even starting them from time to time.
But Alayna's heart is in the right place. She is not manipulative and is very truthful and upfront about what she means or wants. She doesn't go out of her way to be helpful, but if she seems someone in trouble, she will at least offer to help or give her assistance.
Race: Arathian
Age: 27
Gender: Female
Special Abilities: Alayna was trained within her tribe as a warrior priestess. She is highly skilled in her art of defense and magic; thus, she is trained in hand-to-hand combat, the art of casting spells, and other various forms of combat. She knows how to use numerous weapons, ranging from a bow (for long range), a stage, several knives of varying lengths, etc.
Spending years in training has rendered her extremely efficient in both her skills and her education, which taught her the art of diplomacy and conversation and to use words before violence.(*See history.)
Bio/History:
Alayna began her training at the age of twelve, at which point she left her family and commenced six years of training in many arts, all of which would be necessary to protect and escort the High Priestess. After these six years, each potential Priestess was bonded to an animal spirit to augment their magic and to imbue them with skills and prowess of that animal. Alayna was bonded to the Arathia, the creature of their tribe, and after that, she forever gained her ears and tail. Her long hair, which was once pale blonde, almost silver, was turned gray.
She was then promoted the rank of Maiden of the Priestess, an elite circle of the top students, chosen to be the closest security of the High Priestess. She has had five years in her position and additional training as she went. After four years of excelling and gaining the priestess' trust, she was promoted to the Captain of the Maidens and had become the Priestess' most trusted Maiden.
Appearance:
Alayna is tall and thin, about 5'10" and 130 pounds, her ears and tail coming from her race and her endowment ceremony. Her gray hair used to be pale blond, though her eyes did not change. The tattoos were acquired over her training years and symbolize different accomplishments and values,

Re: Calling Major Tom (Re-do)
Name: Leon
Nickname: Heir to the Throne of Bernadice
Faction: Otherworld
Alignment and Personality: Chaotic Good
Race: Bernadinian
Age: 19
Gender: Male
Special Abilities: Bloodline of Bernard
Bio/ History: Leon is a descendant of Bernard, but unlike his family, he is good natured, and refuses to do wrong. Though he is cursed along with them, he has no malice against the faeries, and instead seeks to redeem his family name. Leon knows that Bernadice cannot continue to be cursed, as the city's regular citizens are suffering greatly. The only ones unaffected by the deteriorating condition are the aristocrats as they pick on the weaker citizens for their own gains. Leon now finds himself in an epic quest to clear his family's name, to remove the curse from the wrath of the faeries, and ultimately save Bernadice from collapsing on itself.

Re: Calling Major Tom (Re-do)
I am aware that Aidan and Hermes have yet to post, and that is perfectly fine; however, I am going to continue to post and move the story forward. I will be carrying Aidan along in my post just so that he's not left behind, meanwhile, Hermes' character is not with anyone else at the moment anyway, so there is no harm there, either.
Aidan, Hermes, feel free to post whenever. Everyone else is welcome to respond to my next post, as well. You do not have to wait.
Also, if you are NOT waiting for a response from me, and instead on someone else. For instance: say Oller and Riddeon are in the same area talking, away from everyone else who's near Jadan and the Ocean. They do not have to wait for Loki to post about his two characters, since he has nothing to do with them.
Make since?

Re: Calling Major Tom (Re-do)
Also: I just got a chance to re-read everyone's posts to make sure everything is up to par and I haven't left anyone out:
Kindly disregard the time-skip posted by xraineyesx where it took a day to travel to Jadan City. The day has not gone by yet, so feel free to continue in real action time and do not jump ahead more than a couple of hours, if you must!
Thank you =D

Re: Calling Major Tom (Re-do)
Makes perfect sense.
And yes, it's been fixed. It was just a slip of the mind. Silly absent-mindedness. I fixed it now though, I think.

I have been trying, but Elijah's congested, which keeps him up all day and night fighting to breathe and fussy and, believe me, a crying baby 24-7 would hinder your speed in posting, too, Gunneh.

No, believe me, I know. I've had to help raise both of my youngest cousins, so I know that all too well. I was only asking

Re: Calling Major Tom (Re-do)
Name: Remius Illuri
Nickname: He doesn't really know anyone enough for them to give him a nickname, nor does he like the idea of nicknames.
Faction: Otherworld
Alignment and Personality: Evil Neutral
Remius is an enigmatic person. Not only because he lives alone far away from the large cities, the Woodland Elves being his closest neighbors to the north, but also because he simply doesn't see the need to go into his past with anyone he does encounter. To Remius, there is little need to associate with people on an emotional level. They do have their uses, but emotional connections just tend to get in the way. Also, he had discovered that many people don't approve of his ideas when he is more open around people.
Race: Human
Age: 30
Gender: Male
Special Abilities?: Remius can channel small streams of electricity through his staff. He uses this mostly to put the initial spark into his reanimated corpses. Also, he is a very affluent creator of steampunk devises, because his necromantic craft requires it.
Bio/ History: Remius didn't have the most abnormal childhood. He was born in Kurek to an engineer and his wife. His father was distant, but that didn't matter too much to Remius, for his mind was also in different places. Even at a young age, he was utterly fascinated in trying to discover new ways to implement steam technology, and he was always working out ways to advance the tech to new levels. This, combined with the unfortunate accidental death of one of his teenage friends led him to his career choice, of sorts.
When Remius turned sixteen he turned his passion for technology to more... unsavory fields. He felt that if he focused his mind on reanimating the dead, he would be able to do something good for the world. Unfortunately, this once noble, if skewed, view was corrupted around his twentieth birthday when he let slip the subject matter of his experiments to someone he thought was a friend. This 'friend' reported Remius to the authorities, claiming that Remius's experiments were unethical and unlawful. Remius was promptly chased from Kurek by a small mob with the intent to end his life.
This was the fundamental switch in Remius's personality. Expressing too much to anyone would eventually get you killed, and therefor served no purpose. It became apparent that people were little better than tools to be used for Remius's plans. Also, he began to figure that zombies, so to speak, would be significantly more trustworthy and act as much better tools for Remius to use. After a long period of travel through the Enigmatic Woods, Remius emerged on their southern border to find that it began to turn into a swamp. It was perfect really. Remote, not exactly a hot tourist destination. It would work perfectly. This swamp would give Remius the perfect setting to perfect his creations and put in motion his ultimate plan. The plan? Simple, destroy Kurek.

Re: Calling Major Tom (Re-do)
At first, I was going to say that I do not agree with a Kurekian traveling through the Enigmatic Woods that inhabit the elves who so dearly want to destroy Kurek for it's technology (extremist hippies, lol) ... but then I read his hatred towards Kurek and I am thinking they could sense that and would permit him passage, keeping an eye on him. Since he reached a swamp to perform his experiments, they wouldn't know about that, but I know they'd frown because of their beliefs, so I wouldn't try going BACK through the woods, but as far as going through them a first time to reach the swamp... That is okay.
Accepted. Feel free to post, Hobo.

Aidan hasn't been able to either. Work + Baby makes it hard for him :/ will try in the next two days though.
Re: Calling Major Tom (Re-do)
Name: Diane Leigh Shepherd
Nickname: Cobalt
Faction: Shipcrew : Engineer/Head of Mechanics
Alignment and Personality: Neutral
When it comes down to it, Cobalt could really care less. She likes doing what she does, and doesn't involve herself in other's affairs very often. When she does, she does not usually use righteousness as a reason to side one way or another. Instead, her closeness to other individuals and personal reasons tend to sway her one way or another.
Race: Human
Age: 28
Gender: Female
Special Abilities?: --
Bio/ History: Diane grew up fairly simply, in a working household where things were "ignored" or "avoided" in order to keep sanity and order within the small family network. The house was small, and held three bedrooms that housed Diane, her older brother Edgar, her parents, and her uncle. Now her parents took more to Edgar than they did to her because of his ability to do heavier labor jobs and as well his willingness to drop out of his education and begin union work with his parents to support the household. Thus Diane felt closest to her uncle Ruben. Her uncle was a mechanic, and worked with the IUNA on heavy machinery and core engines. Thus she followed him in her studies, and instead of going home some nights, would sneak into the hangers with her uncle and watch/study him.
-
Over the years, Diane began to grow more and more, and began her higher education at a IUNA funded University, studying in mechanical engineering, with a double minor in auto-mechanic drafting and metallurgy. From there, things just more or less fell into place.
Side Note: She gained the nickname Cobalt during her metallurgy workshop, when she managed to create a chemical reaction to bond cobalt to a practice atomic weapon case in her first try.

Name: Lalone Jafar [La-lown Jah-far]
Nickname: Lalo [La-low]
Faction: Otherworld
Alignment and Personality: Chaotic Neutral
Lalo tends to be very independent and free-spirited, favoring her freedom and hating to be controlled. She also tends to be harsh, tough, and a little unusual at times. But she has good in her when it is provoked.
Race: Novesca
Gender: female
Special Abilities?:
-Conjuring light
-Reducing / absorbing light
-Bending light
-Fairly heightened eyesight
Bio/ History: Lalone was born to a mother, her father killed in the Hunt. She reached the age of 12, and was sent in for her light training with the Escala Academy. It was there that Lalone began to take a slightly downward path of travel. In her training, she found a lot of problems socializing because of her family's history and her father's shame in having died in the Hunt. Lalone quickly became a little more of a background person to others, and shied away from confrontation and people when she could.
-
After she got out of Escala, she went to begin life on her own, instead of returning to her mother. For the following few years, Lalone became a little more quiet and unlike the other women of her people. She traveled her homeland city of Novestine (no-vest-een), and met her believed Soulmate. Later, when she had gone out to train and do the Hunt to prove herself better than her father, her lover Viero died of a mysterious poison. Afterward, she went on a rampage for revenge, and ended up finally soothing her urge to avenge her lover by murdering a Bonded man and woman who worked as Herbalists and had been responsible for Viero's death.
-
For 3 human years, Lalo was imprisoned, and upon her release had her head shaven of her long white hair to let society know she had done wrong. After that, she has led a soft-spoken and quiet life on the outskirts of Novestine, relying mostly on herself and trying to live after her bad decisions in the past.
Appearance:
Artwork by `hakubaikou
-She bears a pear-shaped gemstone scar from her Bond with Viero on her left hand. It's almost hard to see, but is made noticeable because it slightly warps her tattoo "gloves"
-She has two scars on her right hip, jagged and diagonal in shape.
-Another scar rests over her heart (center of the chest).
-On the back of her neck she has a reddish-brown tattoo
-On her hands she wears a dark brown series of tattoo designs that look like this

Race: Novesca
- Spoiler:
Physical: Light colored shades of hair (white, pink, lavender, baby blue, mint, etc), pale skin to a lightly tanned skin tone, light to medium shades of eyes- tending to be unusual shades, the soft glow their skin has underwater.
Cultural Important Points:
-The hair is to never be cut unless a crime is committed. Short hair is a sign of recent criminal activity or a state of semi-exile. Long hair tends to mean a spotless record. Even men do not cut their hair unless they are guilty of a crime.
-If Bonded (basically wed to their soulmates), the male and female each get a gemstone of same color, shape, and size embedded into the top of their left hand. If the Bond is broken, the gemstone is removed, but an indent scar remains as a sign of the divorced status.
-If one bears children, they have vertical lines imprinted into their upper left bicep using a long thorn and the dark reddish brown ink of flowers called Hybrilillies.
-Nevascans age a little differently from humans. They turn one year older every 18 months.
-At the age of 12 (18 human years), they begin a one year study to master their skills of light magic. These studies basically are just, creation of light in the form of a sheath, an orb, and a mist/dust. Then they learn to reduce the light around them, as well as bend light towards or away from them, or other objects. The magic cannot make them invisible, or appear any less solid or there. It also cannot alter the visual aspect of reality. The only thing that changes basically is the brightness/light content.
-Most Nevascans are White Mages or Rangers. The small militia trains in sword combat and halberd wielding, but other than that, it is fairly unheard of.
-Other unique skills involve the keener eyesight. Bright lights and dark darknesses don't usually hinder the Nevascans because of their abilities with light. The downside is that they tend to rely on their eyesight in battle.
-The Hunt is a yearly event where they go out and tackle the predators in their woods. The number one aim of the Hunt are called "Skarn", a cat-like predator that if given the chance to advance their population would pose a threat to the city of Novestine.
-Escala Academy is a school of sorts where they are taught not just their powers, but are crammed with knowledge of their people, society, and taught the proper way to survive.
-Vegetarians are the purest of the Novescans, and the strongest magically. Omnivores are not as powerful, and usually do not wield white magic as well. Then the Carnivores, or people who eat more meat than vegetables, are the ones who tend to be more skilled in combat and have weaker natural ability with light.
-Their level of society is probably some mix of steampunk and tribal. They don't rely on technology, but they do use it as a method of building their city up, and of making things more efficient in the manner of hard labor and some travel. Imagine early, skeptical steampunk almost.

Re: Calling Major Tom (Re-do)
Name:Chief Petty Officer Clarke ‘Joe’ Wilcott
Nickname:Joe, Chief, Cookie
Faction: Shipcrew
Alignment and Personality: Chaotic Good. The Chief believes that the ends justifies the means. You need something? He’ll get it. Doing the right thing to save a life means breaking the law? OK. Joe is generally very affable and fun-loving. He’s also hard-working and always has an eye on the main chance. He drinks some, gambles some and watches out for his friends. He doesn’t tolerate stupidity and all too often he unleashes a quick-fire temper on his direct superiors to his detriment.
Race: Human
Gender: Male
Age: 45
Appearance:
Background: The Chief has been in the military nearly his whole life. Arrested at 16 for theft, he was given the choice of joining up or going to prison. Not having finished high school and his family being very poor, joining up was like a gift from heaven. He’d get fed, trained and paid, which meant his family got fed too with the money he could send home. His training and years of service were difficult and long. Not due to the basic complexity of his job, but mostly because he couldn’t keep out of trouble. Had tensions not been running so high between the IUNA and the EUSR, he wasn’t discharged, merely discipline, busted down in rank repeatedly. He was an excellent cook and for those working immediately under him, he was a good man so long as they did things right. Anyone from outside his little arena of influence that tried to barge in was ejected in no uncertain terms. He was always the guy you asked for loans from on long away missions. He always managed to trade, barter or flat steal supplies from every port of call he found himself in. But, always, the extra money he made went back to his brothers and sisters. The Chief was generous, crafty, a tyrant, a teacher, a drinker, gambler and made the best damned food this side of anywhere.
The Chief wasn’t chosen for the mission, he volunteered. No other cook would have the job and the high ranking chefs were greedily kept back and protected by the upper echelons of the Military brass. He looked on it all as just another job, another ship and another crew to make his own. When you’re the Chief cook? You own the ship. No matter what the Captain thought about the idea.

Name: Commander Stanton L'dayel
Nickname:Commander, Stanton (By very few)
Faction: EUSR
Alignment and Personality: Lawful/Neutral. Commandor L’dayel is a classic, stolid, military schooled, military-trained and military-honed weapon. He isn’t an imaginative man. He is focused, sees everything as a battlefield and as objectives that need to be overcome. He is honest, pragmatic and disciplined in mind and body. He thinks first before acting. He weighs all the possibilities and strategizes to meet every possible goal. He is seen as aloof and cold. His own feelings or personal views are never considered above his duty.
Out of his uniform, is another man. Stanton is quiet and contemplative. He love music and good books. He relishes games of strategy such as chess. He prefers the solace of his own company, but does miss the sound of human language and company more than he cares to admit.
Race: Human
Gender: Male
Age: 45
Appearance
Special Abilities: Military strategy, commanding troops, group psychology, tactics, military history, small firearms, rifles, large field artillery, espionage, languages, chess.
Background:The Commander was a member of the EUSR, but 10 years ago, his own ship had crashed on Otherword. The IUNA had no idea that the Russians had managed to put a ship through the ripple in space before they had. His crew all perished in the crash on OtherWorld or from age and disease since that time. L’dayel spent the intervening 10 years learning to live in the new world he’d found himself on. The odd technologies, races and politics took a great deal of time and study to understand, but he is nothing if not a pragmatic man. The commander speaks Russian, English, French, German as well as Jadanian and the universal language of Otherworld. Over time he has become Queen Jada’s right hand man. He taught her English and acts as her Protector and Prime Minister. He is by her side at all functions and is her eyes and ears on the World. Over the years, a bond has formed between them. Absolute trust in him is rewarded by absolute loyalty from him.
Back on Earth, the past ten years since the Commander’s disappearance, he had been deemed missing and finally announced as dead. He was given a huge state funeral and buried as a decorated war hero.

Age: 45
Appearance:
- Spoiler:

Re: Calling Major Tom (Re-do)
I know there is no map yet, but I would like to point out that, like I said before, if you are in or near Kurek, you cannot see the Ship falling in the sky without a form of telescope.
Cypher, please indicate that they are looking through one in order for Oller or his men to see any of it, despite that they are near Kurek's part of the shoreline to the ocean.
This is also for Bernadice.

Re: Calling Major Tom (Re-do)
MAPS - This is not the WHOLE WORLD. This is only the North West Hemisphere so that we can create and discover new worlds! I may not have added your biographical 'place of residence' because I wasn't sure where you meant for it. Sooooo lemme know and I'll add it =D
What Bernadice looks like up close.

Re: Calling Major Tom (Re-do)
Alright; made mention of the use of a telescope. I can overhaul the post if you would prefer me to change the entire thing, though.
