Historical RP Anyone interested?

I enjoy a good historical rp now and then. They take a little work and some understanding of the period to be good, but if everyone contributes they can be alot of fun. So would anyone be interested in a historical rp? I was thinking either Roman era, Napoleonic Era, or Civil War era although I am open to any other suggestions. The rp would most likely center around some large historical event to give us some sort of guideline. Anywho before i go putting in alot of effort to set up a good story line and doing some research, just thought I would see if anyone was interested.

Great Roman/Greek era is my favorite I'd like to get at least three other people before we start, but if we can't no big deal.

I'm not too familiar with the Roman/Greek period, but that's nothing that a bit of research won't fix. This sounds like a great idea and I'm totally on board.

Ancient world? I'm in.

I think the Second Punic War through to the Gallic Wars is the most interesting era of Roman history, with a lot of factional infighting within the Republic, and lots of other kingdoms in the mix as well. 68 CE or 192 CE are good eras as well, when civil war was rife in the Empire.

However, my suggestion is go Hellenistic and try setting it during the era of the Diadochi, the successor kingdoms of Alexander the Great of Macedon. Alexander died quite suddenly and there was a huge grab for power among his generals as they re-invaded nations, killed off natives to consolidate their hold, formed alliances, fought amongst each other, schemed and murdered each other (and the rest of Alexander's family, particularly his mother, wife and son) and did all sorts of brutal and horrible stuff to each other and those around them.

I'd like in even if all of the above is ignored, however.

I'd hate to see this intchk go down the tubes, I'm interested in whatever historical RP can be rattled up. I set one in 1960's Africa, but that means little; history junkies are voracious and never satisfied.

I've been thinking about starting one set during the Crusades, but it's been tough trying to figure out a plot without sounding like some half-assed version of Assassin's Creed.

I wouldn't want to particularly run it, personally. I'd like to just play for once. I've been running stuff over on another site and here for a while. I'm a bit tapped out for running the stuff, plus private professional creative projects as well.

I'm totally interested in ANYTHING that's happened before our time. I guess it's pretty convenient too, since just before everyone got out for summer my class was studying almost every time period you guys have mentioned so far. I'm game.

I was going to suggest some sort of espionage thriller, but then I realize that St. Michel put up the French Resistance one.

I think the best bet is the ancient world, perhaps Rome.

Might I recommend either the First Crusade, which was a time of almost unimaginable hardship for Crusader and Saracen alike, with disease, starvation, and merciless slaughter rampant; or, perhaps, the period after the fall of Jerusalem, when the remaining Crusader Cities in Outremer were facing slow extinction as they were knocked off one by one? Although, the Hundred Years War is an interesting period as well. Lots of intrigue, infighting, murder, and death. Just please, please, please no Jean d'Arc

The fall of Rome, particularly when the Roman Empire pulls up their stakes and flees Britain.
