Re: [Let's Play] Lone Wolf: the Gamebook!
Ok, not very heroic, but just don't tell anyone what happened, and it'll be fine. I mean, no one saw us, right? Well, no one alive anyway...
Well, so much for a heroic entrance. But, hey, we're out!
Well, alcohol will probably dull the horror. How old are we, exactly?
Oh, by the way, I'm all that's left. Yeah, the guy who staggered out of the graveyard and fainted. You're in good hands.
Hey, we're in the Capital! Awesome!
So, follow the guy who says he's going to bring us to the king, or find him on our own?

Re: [Let's Play] Lone Wolf: the Gamebook!
That's one hell of a long walk.
But who cares? We're here!
We've taken a nice long trip, but we got to the king and gave him the grave news. While unwelcome, the new information allows the king and his advisers to properly plan the war, as opposed to thinking they had a whole fortress of Fantasy Jedi waiting in the wings to take names and kick ass.
Now, the king has a dire task, one which the whole course of the war may depend upon. Are we a bad enough dude to save the kingdom?

Re: [Let's Play] Lone Wolf: the Gamebook!
So, for all of those people who ARE bad enough dudes, the next book is Fire on the Water.
The brief version of our mission is this:
A long time ago, there was a war. It was long and harsh, but good won. Yay, Good!
King Ulnar killedMr. Boddy Vashna, leader of the Darklords (who are evil), with the Sommerswerd (which is good) in the Pass of Moytura (which is a mountain pass).
Now, it turns out that only a Kai Lord can properly wield the Sommerswerd, and... we're the last of the Kai Lords. It kinda makes sense why the first move in the war was to ambush and murder every Kai Lord (missed one ) in the world. They were scared of the +Infinity Sword of Evil Slaying. So, anyway, the sword is kept in the neigboring country (because obviously keeping it on hand would be to convenient and make us skip a quest), and we have to go get it. This is a little bit more difficult because in the time it took us to get to the capital, the evil army made it to the capital.
We're given the Seal of Hammerdal, the ring of the Royal Family of Durenor (where we're going). We need to show it to the king in order to be taken seriously.
Also, in the words of Captain D'Val of the King's Guard, "Forty days, Lone Wolf. We have strength to stand against them for only forty days." So, no rush, right?

Re: [Let's Play] Lone Wolf: the Gamebook!
First off, our character sheet, as of the end of Flight from the Dark:
CS: 20 (Base 18, +2 from Weapon Skill (Swords))
END: 25 (Base 23, +2 from Helmet)
Kai Disciplines
1. Animal Kinship
2. Sixth Sense
3. Camouflage
4. Healing
5. Weapon Skill (Swords)
6.
Weapons
1. Sword
2. Dagger
Backpack
1.
2.
3.
4.
5.
6.
7.
8.
Gold Crowns:
21
Special Items:
Map of Sommerlund
Stylin’ Helmet (+2 END)
The List of Lists:
You may notice that we have an extra blank for the Kai Disciplines. That's because for every book we complete, we get a newForce Power Discipline! For every discipline we gain, we also gain a better title. With no one else to say otherwise, we declare ourselves a Kai Aspirant. Go us!
So, of the discipline we haven't chosen yet:
Hunting - General Agility and never need to have meals. (Not eating a meal means -3 END)
Tracking - We can track things. Also, better senses.
Mindshield - A big F.U. to things that want to poke our brain.
Mindblast - We learn how to poke other people in the brain.
Mind Over Matter - We truly become a Jedi and cane move things... with our brain.
The king, being genre savvy, remembers that the patron is supposed to give the hero a reward for completing a quest (aside from a much harder quest). He hands us a pouch containing 12 gold pieces (We keep his kingdom from getting blindsided, and he gives us pocket change? What the hell?)
We're brought down to the armory and shown a big table of stuff and told we can pick two things (which Lone Wolf thinks is a little stingy, given that the whole hope of the King's army rests upon the success of his quest, but them's the breaks).
The List O' Loot:
Sword
Short Sword
Two meals (counts as one pick)
Chainmail Waistcoat (Special Item) - +4 Max END
Mace (The metal, spiky kind, not the spray.)
Healing Potion (Special Item kept in backpack) - +4 END when used.
Quarterstaff
Spear
Shield (Special Item) +2 CS
Broadsword
So, let's see those selections.

Re: [Let's Play] Lone Wolf: the Gamebook!
If I am to pick a skill and an Item, my selection would be:
Discipline - Mind over Matter
Item - Chainmail Waistcoat
(If I am allowed to vote for only one, then I'd go with my Item pick)

I vote for Hunting. Carrying meals around all the time would just get redundant and possibly dangerous if we run out...
As for an item...let's get a sheild!

TBH, i was also thinking about hunting for the same reasons.
And a sword (if we can dual wield swords-- if we can't, shield) and chainmail.

Well, we're off to a much quicker start than last time.
Do we want to practice restraint and serenity or do we want to teach this fool how our Kung Fu Master told us to handle a mugger?

Psh. We'll spare you. This time.
He jumps us, and demands that WE prove to HIM that we're a Kai Lord? Geez, no respect.
That's a long list of choices.
Do we want to use Healing, Weaponskill, or Animal Kinship?
Or do we want to tell him to blow it out of his ear. You don't just jump someone and demand a name.

First he gets handsy, then he starts asking us to "perform" for him?!
What does he think this is, prison?
I say we show him the Kai Discipline of Giving the Finger.

Re: [Let's Play] Lone Wolf: the Gamebook!
IT'S A TARP CARP LARP TRAP!!!
Harbour Thugs: COMBAT SKILL 16 ENDURANCE 25
We can run away after two rounds of combat, but we have a freaking Combat Ratio of +6! Let's show these weaklings who the TRUE master of warfare is! (Hint: It's not them.)
We roll a 3! We takes 3 damage, and they take 8 damage.
We roll a 4! We takes 2 damage, and they take 9 damage.
We roll a 5! We takes 2 damage and they take 10 damage. And that's all she wrote. We're at 22 END (out of 29).
So, yeah. Here's our real contact.
Unfortunately, he didn't live long enough to be considered a dead companion, but I'm sure that list will get filled out in short order...
Do we want to get on with our quest and head towards our boat, or avenge the perfect stranger we've never met?

I'm quite surprised how things turned out considering the rolls we got...
Let's see if we can apply our new ability and hunt the guy down.

We hunt, but we're still kinda new at this. We soon decide we gotta keep on keeping on. (also +2 healing since I forgot the last section's heal.)
That's a lot of random numbers. Anyway, I'm sure we'll see this place again when it's dramaticly approprate. (+1 healing)
We get a six and see a shipwreck. (+1 healing)
We get an 8 and fail our Diplomacy check. The captian refuses to investigate the interesting thing, so we go down to our cabin and pout. (+1 healing)
OH SHIT! THE BOAT IS ON FIRE! (3 boring days makes us heal back to full)
Do we enter the hold, yell "FIRE!", or go find the captain and tell him to take care of it?

Hey, the captain is pretty good at this giving orders thing.
ARSON! Someone is trying to burn the boat our from under us. Um... and themselves.
So, do we want to follow the captain, or do we want to loot the room (granted, with the occupant still alive, if we get caught, some may consider this in poor taste)?
