Re: Calling Major Tom! [OOC]
Anaris - That is up to you. Feel free to have Jada follow you, if you so choose.
Re: Calling Major Tom! [OOC]
Alright, working on a profile now. Am I allowed to make up my own character? Because I really wanted to take up a position in Kurek (it just sounds like so much more fun than the other places) without being the king.

Cypher, yes! The possibilities are endless! And like I did with the others, if I see a conflict, then I will let you know and we can work it out ;]
Re: Calling Major Tom! [OOC]
ATTENTION:
I have posted once again to keep the ball moving. I went on a short break and I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. If you're still in this roleplay, and have not lost your enthusiasm or motivation to continue in this story, then fantastic! If you've lost it all and want to leave, now is your chance. I won't feel any ill towards you, promise, as I myself had to go away for a bit and get my life back in gear enough to think straight.
With that out of the way...
Notes on the Latest Post:
Most, if not all of you are either swimming to shore or already on the shoreline. In my post, you are about to be joined by 4 guards and one person there to communicate with you.
Doug and Major Tom are being met by Stanton.
Xan and Reeves are being met by Isa.
Church and Mika (and Emi's body) are being met by Jada.
Stanton and Jada both speak English, though Stanton's is much better and relaxed than her choppy attempts. The guards will have no English whatsoever, so if you choose to write out your retalliation to such a rush of guards as a negative one (i.e., you get ready to fight them!) then assume they will not make the first attack or kill anyone without Stanton's order. (Let's hope no one's killed. We just lost quite a few people.) It doesn't have to be a negative meeting, though! If you'd like, feel free to play a bit of body language dialogue with them, or just stand there confused until Stanton, Isa, or Jada come to meet you.
Towards the end of your posts, if you do not wish to stand along the shoreline for a few posts and would prefer to get your characters to a nice warm bed and some hospitality, then kindly speak so here after you post so that I know I need to make another mass post to make sure everyone gets carried off in the escort at the same time.
Also, of course, feel free to gather up with the remaining Earthlings who survived, as well! You don't have to stay in three groups, I just assumed that that was how it all worked out, since the goal was more to get to shore, rather than group up, in the first attempt to survive.
As always, if you have questions, please post them here, and if I forgot anyone, let me know.
P.S. I didn't talk to "T" with an NPC because I'm not sure of his location. So feel free to move him or not whenever you please. - However, with Firdos, I did give him an NPC to draw him closer to the Palace to meet up and get the team closer together before the next big wave of disaster occurs.
If anyone else needs help with ideas or getting pulled in to the story, please let me know!

Re: Calling Major Tom! [OOC]
Hooray I have interaction! I figured I would just wait, but this is good too. I'll have a post in a few days, I have things for today, tomorrow, as well as Tuesday. But I might be able to sneak in time to get a page size post up then.

No worries at all! And I am sorry you didn't have interaction sooner.
Edit:
The Languages of Soulieria
I'm not sure if any of you have read or even know that Weiss and I were doing this, but we created a 1v1 between Jada and Stanton. In such a roleplay, we're explaing things like how Stanton got there, where he's really from, and the study of languages.
I will quote this for you all so that you know just in general that Jadanian is kind of like the difference between Italian and Spanish and Mexican-Spanish. There IS a difference, but it's still comprehendable for the most part if you get the main gist.
The common tongue would be similar to Earth's Latin (an ancient language, but the root of most of languages today.) Jadanian is a closely related to this language, as the root of most languages is most likely spoken by the faeries or other beings that lived for a very long amount of time and had their languages translated and put into some slang depending on the colony, such as Jadan. Seeing as Jada came directly from such an existence as a faery, it would makes sense that the language she taught to the people would be close to such a language, but appropriate cultural slang would have been added.
Does this make sense? I put this up because like in Falci's case where Firdos is being spoken to by Gemma, she asked if he even understood what she was saying. I didn't want to assume he DID know if the player so chose NOT to have him know, but if they were all based upon a root language, he may be able to understand a few select words. Like translating from Italian to Spanish. (Or, a little more difficult, French to Spanish.)

"While there were many dialects used between the races of the world, it seemed that all of them – or at least, all of the ones Stanton had personally witnessed – branched from a common tongue of ancient times, which also served as the base for their style of writing."

Re: Calling Major Tom! [OOC]
Alright, I just have a couple questions.
1) If I want to play as an Otherworlder but don't want to necessarily be a leader-type character, I'm allowed to make a soldier or a royal guard or something, right?
2) In terms of steam power, what does Kurek have that Jadan lacks? I realise steam power entails locomotives and some really awesome armor and guns, and I don't see how airplanes could run on steampower but my suspension of disbelief still holds. But what else do they have?
3) I couldn't come from Bernadice, right? Since that place is supposed to be lost in a sandstorm?
Sorry again if I'm holding things up, I just want to make sure I know everything I possibly can before I get involved with the setting.

Re: Calling Major Tom! [OOC]
You're not holding anything up, Cypher. We are continuing on and will just add you in once things are settled for you and your decision upon a character.
1] Yes. You do not have to be any leader, whatsoever, like how Firdos and "T" are not leaders, but just themselves. (You can locate the characters I am speaking of in my first post under the Characters.)
2]To your first part of this question, the difference between Kurek and Jadan in terms of steampower, think... New York vs. Hickville. New York has fancy technologies and pretty lights flashing and is very loud and the city hardly ever sleeps, no? A Hickville (A red-neck or rural countryside small town of a population less than 5000) doesn't quite have those things. If they wanted, they could travel out and acquire them, but as their lives have been simple and plain and they like it that way, they have not touched too many of the technologies. (I.e. Hickville has primarily Phone Lines for internet connection, and not Satellite or Whatever).
To the second part of your 2] question, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steampunk
That is the wikipedia for Steampunk. It should answer most, if not all of your questions on what is included in this Steampowered world or not. Yes, aircrafts such as Airships and Blimps/Hot Air Balloon contraptions do exist. Airplanes? No. Airships? Yes. If you've seen Stardust, there is a ship sailed by Captain Shakespear and that is an airship of sorts that can be related to this roleplay.
3] Quite the contrary. If you wanted to come from Bernadice, there would be some work involved in making your CS and we would need to collaborate, but I am perfectly fine with doing so. ^^ People still exist in Bernadice, they're just.. Well, sun-deprived beings that resemble Vampir-esque beings, except that they feast on raw meat, etc etc, because the blockage from any sunlight made it nearly impossible for them to grow vegitation, and over the course of time, they gave up cooking their food due to such malnutrition that their bodies adapted to eating like animals, raw meals galore!
They are not completely savage, though. Those that are/were wealthy enough in that city have the ability to think for themselves, still. Those that were poor to begin with? They tend to go on natural instinct, killing and eating the first thing they can.
So, Bernadice is a dangerous place, unless you're from there and can handle your own. (Side Note: Bernadicians can still come out in the sunlight without being harmed, but they will not eat like normal people.)

Re: Calling Major Tom! [OOC]
Once Falci posts I am going to post once again with all three of my current characters. It gives some times for others to post in their side groups, as well as Falci some time to post so that I can knock three replies out in one go rather than spamming the IC thread.
So! Huzzah. Also, since we're in smaller groups at the moment, you're welcome to post once the others in your group have responded. That is, until we get collected in to one group again.

Re: Calling Major Tom! [OOC]
Thanks much, Attie. However, as cool as I think playing the first Bernadician may be, I don't believe I would be able to play one to justice. I'd be glad to give it a try as a second character, but now I think I'll play close to my strengths and write up a Kurekan, maybe a scout or a ranger or something.
Yes, I was toying with the thought of a Kurekan Ranger. It seemed kind of cool - combining the steampunk aspects of society in Kurek with a guy who spends most of his time combing the forest, looking for goodies. And by "goodies", I mean reconaissance on woodland elves. Maybe he sees the big fireball ripping through Otherworld's atmosphere and decides the Elves are up to something, and heads that way to check things out.
This idea is, of course, available for your analysis, critiquing or outright denial.
PS: Yes, I know what Steampunk is. It's actually one of my favorite RP settings. Although I probably could have made that a bit clearer when asking my questions

Re: Calling Major Tom! [OOC]
The general idea you have going there sounds fine, and I await your character sheet once you've put your thoughts together and got it all laid out for me. If I see anything then that I don't approve of, I will let you know.
Kurekans are inventors or sorts, so to see a Ranger would be interesting! Especially since you've caught on the the Kurek vs. Woodland Elves thing and it gives you a reason to come down and find out what the fireball is.
However! Kurek is quite a bit aways from Jadan! Not that you wouldn't be able to see the fireball in the sky, by any means. It just means that your journey would take a few days before you reached Jadan, and by then, it will most likely be the case that we meet up your character perhaps in Bernadice or another town that they pass through on their way to hide the Queen.
Oops! I'm spoiling. I need to stop.
Anyhow, any questions and just pop me a PM. ^^
P.S. I am so sorry! I didn't mean to insult you! I've just had many people who WERE NOT used to Steampunk ask me what Steampower is, etc etc. So I immediately just assumed I needed to go back to basics and post up the wiki! My apologies ^^

Re: Calling Major Tom! [OOC]
It's no problem, I would be able to tell if you had insulted me - I get enough BS daily to be able to get simple unawareness away from malicious intent.
I'm afraid I'm also a bit confused on the geographic layout of Otherworld. I don't mean to pester, but if you could give a map, or maybe at least a basic outline of where/what everything is?
Also your wording was a bit unclear to me. My ranger guy would meet up with your people in Bernadice? In Jadan? Between the two? Again, I don't mean to be all crazy about details here. I just want to be absolutely clear on everything I need to be clear on before I dive headlong into this thing.
Just kidding on that above bit, I misread. However, if I got to Jadan too late, how would I be able to pick up on where you guys marched off to?

Re: Calling Major Tom! [OOC]
A map... I'm terrible at making those things, and I have yet to make them because people have the creativity to create new cities and towns as they please here and there.
For instance, if we were traveling from Jadan and all we know is that it's a 3 day walk going directly towards Kurek, then we could pretend all kinds of cities or towns or anything is in the way. We are only focusing primarily on the three major cities, but there is MUCH MORE to the world of Soulieria that may be addressed in later chapters. (That way you have the freedom to make up your own place if you so choose, like Firdos did (Falciferum).
In the basic way of the major three cities (Bernadice, Jadan, and Kurek) are three points, like in a Triangle, with the HUGE MASS OF FOREST that is owned by the Woodland Elves. Around the forest is fields, grasslands, desert, whatever you want to make there.
In one corner is Bernadice. Covered in a sandstorm, a huge desert, and for the most part lifeless as far as vegetation goes.
In another corner, Jadan is near both a Lake and an Ocean. On the opposite side of Jadan City to the ocean would be the entrance to Jadan, and entrance that has a bit of grassland in between it and the woodlands, but it closest bordering the woodlands. (I'll try to make a map of just this part of the world if I can just to easier explain this.)
In the third corner, of course, is Kurek City. It's on a rather large mountain and dwells both above and under ground for their advancement inventions and discoveries.
Give me some time and I'll try to put up a small map.

Re: Calling Major Tom! [OOC]
As said in the IRC, I think you and Plaguewalker should work together before I can accept your CS. ^^ That way they will not be so conflicting. As Plague will be our evil Head Honcho, I think he gets to call a few of the shots as far as his elite team.
You two can either work via PMs, I guess, or I will try to be in the IRC later tonight to help explain and resolve any confusions that will not be discussed in this OOC thread, so that the element of surprise is still among our players.
Thanks!

And after a bit of unfortunate misunderstandings on said IRC. I am more than happy to work on it with Plague as and when he's about. See what needs altering.

Anaris has spoken to me and she's on a break for a little bit! So, while she's out there gettin' happy in the real world, I told her I was going to move her along with our characters so that we can move on, and she doesn't get left behind for when she returns!
Thanks everyone for your patience thus far. ;] I'll be a-postin' today!

Re: Calling Major Tom! [OOC]
Faction: Otherworld
Alignment: Good?
Name: Delphos Vi Aldernon
Nickname: Delphy
Race: Bla-Vi'ori
Age: 18
Gender: Male
Special Abilities?: Blade-ification. Okay, his body looks like a 7'0" human, with odsidian skin. But if he would imagine a blade, his body would twist a section to form it. He loses height when he makes a blade or weapon, but the weapon is literally him. The bigger the weapon Delphy makes, the shorter he becomes. Since he IS the weapon, if the weapon is broken or harmed, he is injured. But he can control the weapon without touching it, and the weapon can't be used by others without his permission.
Personality: Lacksidasical. He's laid-back and non-agressive, unless ordered otherwise. He has a lot of issues with identity and self-worth. He sees himself as a weapon, and not a person.
Bio/ History: The Bla-Vi'ori are an old race, normally some of the top defenders and protectors in the kingdoms and domains around the planet. Due to their high resilience to attack, and their infinitely-changing weaponry, they are a prized commodity. Delphy was sold into his position as guard by his parents. Truely, though Bla-Vi'ori are highly prized, that's all they are, prizes. They have no real freedom, no official standing. They are tools, as far as any other citizen is concerned. So Delphy has a lot of self-worth issues.
Appearance: 7'0" with obsidian-black skin. His face is smooth, no eyes, nose, mouth, etc. He has small spikes sticking from his body at odd angles and locations. These are his "sensors" that allow him to do anything from smell and see, to hear, feel, and taste. He also eats through these by sending out enzymes to break down food and absorb it.

As for your CS Kingmaker, seems fine to me. Perhaps you and "T" (Quakernuts' character) will get along with similar backgrounds/possibly personalities.

Race: Human
Age: 34
Gender: Male
Special Abilities?: Lanzharus has almost superhuman agility, on par with that of the elves'. He is an expert marksman and knows his way around both Kurekan technology and the more primitive equipment used by wood elves. Lanzharus is also adept at camouflage, deception and cloak-and-daggery.
When push comes to shove, he knows how to fight with his fists. He knows the close-combat training given to Kurekan soldiers inside out, both with weapons and without. He has also adapted and begun to emulate a style of unarmed fighting utilised commonly by elves (similar to our Parkour).
He knows a fair amount about herbology and medicine - which herbs are poisonous, what's best for cleaning infections, this can be used to incapacitate enemies, et cetera.
Personality: Still progressing.
Bio/ History: Still progressing.
Alignment: Chaotic Good

Re: Calling Major Tom! [OOC]
I'm not sure how he would have gotten close enough to be primitive with woodelf equipment, being Kurekan. They have ways to keep out Kurekans from their forests. Nor would I understand how he camed to the elves common unarmed fighting style (Similar to Parkour), being a Kurekan. Those are differences between the two (elves vs Kurek) specifically, and not meant to be known by the other faction.
Also, being Kurekan, he is living in a city that is within a mountain. Kind of like IronForge, if you've played WoW, and if you haven't, imagine Gondor/MinasTirith from Lord of the Rings.
(Looks similar to this but instead of having the city on the SIDE of the mountain, it is on TOP of the mountain. Only way up there is flight, or through the tunnel entrance that is heavily guarded on the side.
That being said about the mountain-living within and blah blah, I'm not sure how he'd know herbology. Medicine? Sure. They have medics everywhere, of every kind, depending on where you are. But you'd have to explain to me how he learned herbology. ;]
Of course, your Personality and Bio are still in the making, so when they are done and these other things are fixed or explained, I can give you a yes or no.

Re: Calling Major Tom! [OOC]
I meant to say earlier that he was living out in the woods, writing letters back to the Kurekan commanders back in the Mountainhome via messenger bird, observing and fighting if he has to, not actually living in Kurek.

Re: Calling Major Tom! [OOC]
Ahh, that would not work. =[ The elves hate Kurekans, and with being 'one with the forest' like the wood elves are... They'd know he was there.
EDIT: Like a druid, I mean. They're very attuned to nature and their surrounding forest. Now, should they step outside? Suicide. But within that forest, they're good to go on being safe and knowing what's up.

Re: Calling Major Tom! [OOC]
After many apologies etc, I'm back in again. Similar character to last one, same image. Different name and slightly altered background.
- Spoiler:
- Faction: Otherworld
Alignment: Neutral Evil
Name: General D'Ren Haradul
Nickname: The General, Angel of Death.
Race: Human
Age: 31
Gender: Male
Special Abilities: Inspirational leadership to his men in the Second Army of the Eclipse Lance Mercenary Company. Is also an expert swordsman having honed his skills over many years.
Personality: Cruel but loyal. D'ren has fierce loyalty to the Eclipse Lance but also extreme cruelty towards those he has felt have betrayed him, or the Lance.
Bio/ History: Born in the slums of Kurek D'Ren had a near no-hope life until he joined the Eclipse Lance by accident and chance when he was 16. After beating several muggers in an alleyway, he was chosen by Raqua to join the company.
Perfecting swordmanship within a couple of years D'Ren was catapulted into a leadership role during a battle on the outskirts of the tiny town of Imrahia when a troop began to waver when the Captain was killed. D'Ren rallied the troops and lead them to victory.
This placed him into the role of Captain by default and soon he found himself mired in the middle of a conspiracy within the Second Army. The General, a man by the name of Juruf had attempted to recruit him into a conspiracy to overthrow Raqua and lead the Eclipse Lance himself. D'Ren didn't go to Raqua until he had gained letters and evidence to the "Second Wind" conspiracy group which ranged from privates and engineers to high level Colonels and Captains.
At great personal risk D'Ren gained several letters to prove the existence of the conspiracy. As a result, Raqua stripped Juruf of his rank and placed D'Ren in his stead.
D'Ren was slow, methodical and brutal in his purging of the Second Army. Ensuring that any who remained would be loyal servants to him and to Raqua. His executions were always personal, ensuring his nickname of "The Angel of Death."
Militarily, D'Ren is a determined modernizer, and has pressed to keep an eye on all Kurek developments in steam power, he has modernized the Second Army as much as funding allows, ensuring that most logistics and transportation is now handled by steam power.

Re: Calling Major Tom! [OOC]
Faction: Otherworld.
Alignment:
Name: Raqua
Nickname: The Ebony Knight, Commander
Race: Quasi-immortal human
Age: Unknown
Gender: Male
Special Abilities: Raqua is quasi-immortal, incapable of dying due to old age, illness or other such natural causes. It is the commonly accepted fact that he is in truth immortal, incapable of death. He is a master with the Lance, and exceptionally skilled in hand-to-hand combat. He also possesses a tactical mind that has enabled him to crush those who stand againest him.
Personality: Raqua is easily defined as emotionless, his tone always even, his voice always carrying the same mix of authority and power. He seems detached from the world around him, watching it from some far off place. Nothing seems capable of breaking his flawless wall; for even death has long lost the horror it once held.
His understanding of the world’s workings is difficult to match, and his faceless gaze alone can shatter a man’s resolve. The well-being of his men is a priority, although he has no trouble dispatching men to their graves if it will save more in the grander scheme of things.
Bio/ History: To be revealed as the RP goes on.
Appearance: Few have ever seen what Raqua looks like beneath his armour and most of those who have are dead. His voice always has a metallic hollow ring to it, due to his helmet, and the sound often sends shivers down the spines of those who hear it.
I'm not sure if this is still going, but I'm going to throw up Raqua in hopes that it is!

Re: Calling Major Tom! [OOC]
We're still waiting on Anaris to post, but like myself, neither of us have the time of day lately to be on the computer. I'm not sure the exact details to her situation, but I'm going through job orientation and school registration/orientation.
I'm not sure when I will be able to post regularly for a while, and I know others are also finished up school this month/week and the like. I just never got around to posting it up anywhere, that and I was in slight denial, thinking I could do everything, but by the end of the day, I'm just too dead to think creatively, to pick up slack in areas, and lead this roleplay, which requires quite a bit of concentration and creativity.
It's just not something I can do right now. -.- I'm sorry, Plague. Well, and everyone else. -.-
