Hey everybody, I'm Ryona...
...and I followed Silvone Elestahr over here like a lost puppy...
First and foremost, I'm a 21 year old married lady with a 9 month old son, Theoden. He is my job, my interests, my future, my goals and just about everything in between. Although he is my everything, I enrich my life by pursuing my education and holding a wide variety of interests, because the more I accomplish, the better a mother I can be. On this note, I'm a senior at a Cal State University, majoring in Anthropology (please don't ask me 'what are you going to do with that?' Reasons: 1. After you hear it enough, it begins to sound insulting. 2. I really have no idea ) .
When I was working, I was a field and lab assistant at the Center for Archaeological Research. I love being out with nature, especially the desert and the beach. I do love the Sequoias, but I admit the forest scares me a bit. Because I have an infant, I haven't been able to go camping in a while, but when he is a bit older I expect and demand that we go camping as much as we possibly can. I may possibly be able to start working at a Protein Residue lab, which takes artifacts and tests them for animal or human blood residue. I am admittedly a lab geek with a passion for chemistry, though in the end I decided not to make it a career.
My minor is art history, though I like contemporary art as well. I love to study it as well as practice it, though I'm not much more than a doodler. I have a Nikon D40 and I'm slowly learning the art of photography, but again, I have a long way to go. I love music, all kinds of it ranging from Big Band to Island Reggae to Progressive Metal to Alternative...and everything in between. Though I am passionate about music, I'm limited to basic piano and not-so-great singing when it comes to musical skills.
I love fantasy. I want to be in a world of my own. Dealing with daily life can be a drag, but I love to fall into my imagination and go somewhere different for a while. Whether it is a movie, a book, or my own personal creation, I throw myself into it with utmost sincerity. I don't have as much time for it as I'd like to, but that's where role playing comes in. It is faster than a book (read or written), and gives me a pace that I can follow. I love anything fantasy or science fiction. It can be horror, romance, mystery...I don't care. I just want something mystical within it. My most favorite books and movies are historical fiction. I love the idea of fantasy tying into the real world, and pretending that it might have actually existed. This is probably why the Lord of the Rings is my all time favorite book/movie series. I love to think that Valinor is out there, and that the dwarves are deep underground and the hobbits are just really good at hiding.
Well, that was really quite enough for an introduction. Thanks in advance for any welcome I recieve and May the force be with you.

Well, was about time! I'd noticed you'd been on the "newest member" tab for a while.
Welcome aboard.

Yea... I joined, cleaned my garage, wondered what the heck I was going to say, avoided the computer for a while, then finally gave in and spoke up.
Thank you, by the way, for the warm welcome.

Re: Hey everybody, I'm Ryona...
For that Star Wars quote, I love you. The end.
Ryona, you certainly sound like a very interesting person! I don't know anyone with an anthropology degree, but I know people with similar interests, and I think it's a great field! Me, I'm a Mass Media person, and happy with my choice.
I love imagining that there's magical elements to the real world, too. They've probably all been scared away from around my area, but whenever I see the wonders of nature, I can't help but wonder what else is out there. After all, I certainly don't believe that humans are the only beings in the world.

Re: Hey everybody, I'm Ryona...
Hi, Ryona! Welcome to FOG. It's great that you already have a friend that has joined up here. I must say, I really adore both your blinking avatar and your creepy, yet amazing signature banner. :]
You sound like a wonderful mother, and I really admire that you are a mom, a wife, and a student, all at once. My old best friend from high school almost decided on being an Anthropology major (but ultimately became a physical therapist).
I think it's neat that you're also interested in and enjoy art, both drawing/doodling and photography. I'm an art major myself, and I have grown interested in photography in the past year or two, as my father is a professional freelance photographer (filming weddings and events and such), though he understands far more than I could ever hope to, and is certainly better at it than I am. I'm sure you and I both share the same love for taking photos though, and enjoying photography without having to worry about the technical side of it is really what matters (unless it's you're career, obviously!).
It sounds like we have similar role-playing tastes too. ^^ I do love a bit of something supernatural added in to RPs, which tends to make the story lines all the more interesting.
Well, it's great to meet you, and I hope that you find FOG to your liking!

To Lara:
Oh dear, usually when I quote things I get called nerdy/geeky annoying. But I'm stubborn and continue to do so
I am very interested in the idea of life beyond Earth, especially in other galaxies, but I am admittedly rusty in my knowledge of Astronomy, and leave such dreaming to my husband
To Adrius: I borrowed my son's drum.
To Fate: Thank you for all the wonderful compliments, you don't know how nice it is to hear appreciation for being a mother!
Photography is a great hobby; I had thought of going professional but then again I do that for almost every hobby of mine

Re: Hey everybody, I'm Ryona...
You named... your son... Theoden... I adore you already. If there were any way I could have convinced my husband to name my daughter Eowyn, it would have happened!
I also have an Anthropology degree, with an English writing concentration from waaaaaaay back. Suffice it to say, that was not the career path I took, even if I was able to work as an archaeologist for "cultural resource recovery" for a while after college. So maybe people look at you funny for a while, but WOW is it a fascinating field! So... much... interesting... STUFF!
And like Lara already said - if it weren't for the conviction there is still magic in this world to be discovered, everything would seem so... *blah* You're not alone!
And welcome to FOG! Wonderful to have you!

It was hard to convince the family to stop trying to convince me to go with another name. But I stood by it and now no one thinks twice that his name is Theoden. I usually just call him Taeo though
CRM is definitely not for me, I'm thinking of finding more of a sociology type job, since at my school the two fields have been lumped together.
To Silvone: Hey you, shush

Re: Hey everybody, I'm Ryona...
Ryona! You're here too! Yaaaay!
You and Silvone are among the rare people I've met on Gaia so far that are as literate and deep-thinking as I am (or as I try to be, at least). Many other role-players make me cringe--a feeling Silvone helped me nail down--at the little errors or imperfections. But not you two. ^^ And there appears to be very little of that here in the FOG, so I'm feeling right at home. I'm sure the two of you will as well.

Yay for the dark side!
To Kalon: I try my best, but Silvone and probably most everyone here leaves me in the dust.

Dark side? D: I'll never give in!
So it took me a moment to realize what you actually said, Seuss. Very clever. I applaud.

Re: Hey everybody, I'm Ryona...
"HmmmMMMmmmm! Introduction, I must give.
Come to FoG, you have. Roleplay a lot, we do, but never give yourself to the Illiterate side. Full of grammatical errors, they are. Corrupt you, they will. Spam you, they will. Only on the side of the Literate, can you hope to achieve fulfillment.
The Literate, grammar, sentence structure, originality, length, all these are the characteristics of the Literate. Holds the Library together, it does. See it, you can not, unless you read closely. Listen, feel it in the short story, the novel, poems, even the little haiku's. The Literate is all around us."
"Is the Illiterate side stronger?"
"No. Choose that path from laziness, they do. Simplistic writing, plagiarism, flaming, these are the things of the Illiterate. Like your father, you must never become. Writes Twilight, he does."
To the boards, Welcome.
