Re: Harry Potter..
I wish! I want to go, but I probably can't until Thursday.
Hell, sadly I haven't even watched the fourth one yet. But I'm gonna' rent that one tonight, that way I'll be all caught up when I do see the fifth one.
Woot!

I'm in no hurry to see it, but my girlfriend will be there. I already promised her a date when she gets here in August to see it at a nearby IMAX cinema on a 84'x64' screen.

Uh...Half Blood Prince is the 6th one.
Lol.
You have:
Sorcerer's Stone
Chamber of Secret's
Prisoner of Azkaban
Goblet of Fire
Order of the Phoenix
Half Blood Prince
and then...finally...
The Deathly Hallows.
So sad that it's all almost over...I cried throughout the last book. And this book. I'm such a panzy.

OH YEAH.
I forgot about the Sorcerer's Stone.
Dur. For some reason I thought that the Chamber of Secrets was the first one.
As is obvious, I've never read the books.

Ahh, so lucky, Sighlent! *envy*
I'm so disappointed. I purchased a Ravenclaw scarf and tie, a Ravenclaw sweater, I have a skirt, and Tony and I made wands. However, we won't be able to make it to the Midnight showing tonight because of my stupid school schedule. So, I basically have all this for nothing (unless we decide to do something for Halloween, which I doubt, since we have no friends in this area). I don't get home until 9:30 tonight from class, and then I have to go to bed an hour later, so that I can wake up at 6:00 AM. Therefore, no staying up till 2/3 AM to watch the film.
We will be seeing it either this Saturday or Sunday (when the entire rest of Chicagoland will be there *rolls eyes*). I really am looking forward to it though! I just can't wait! I already beat the Half Blood Prince game for PS3.

Re: Harry Potter..
I know how you feel Fate, I can't go because I actually need to function in class tomorrow.
I actually finished re-reading the Half Blood Prince two days ago. Ugh, I want to see it so bad! >< *pouts* You know, I used to hate Snape. I hated him with a fiery passion. However, much to my dismay, I think he's become my favorite character.

I already do. But, they said if I do it one more time I'm getting drug tested.
Which is bullshit, I don't do drugs......I drink. : | No, seriously.

Re: Harry Potter..
Agreed Inerio. Snape's just a tormented soul. But we still love him.
Dang Fate I'm sorry. I was going to dress up but can't.
For the last one I'm definitely dressing up as well as going to the midnight showing! I don't care what my circumstances may be. Lol.

Re: Harry Potter..
Am I the only one who noticed the three Snapes? Cannon Snape, Movie Snape, and Fannon Snape? Because the three of them are quite different.

Re: Harry Potter..
No, I've noticed them too, Inerio. Movie and Canon Snape are closer to each other, but the Fan-fic Snape can be believable, yet entirely different than the books and such...
I don't really have an interest in seeing the midnight showing (it'd be neat, but I didn't go out of my way to get tickets), but I definitely can't wait to see the movie!
I wanted to reread the book, but I got distracted. Maybe I'll still try...

Re: Harry Potter..
Fate, I'd go to the movie and just suck it up with class; you can always go through class high as a kite on red bull and/or coffee and so forth. But it sounds like the movie is highly important to you. Unless a half-assed class is gonna really kill you, I'd take the plunge. I've done it a few times, hungover like a bastard and gutting out class. I didn't learn a damn thing, but at least by attending, I was able to catch up later.
You'll feel like hell in class the next day, but it'll be worth it. At worst, you can catnap.

Re: Harry Potter..
Lol I think dressing up for the last one is an absolute must! ^_- Reading the book before seeing the movie is a great idea to remind you of everything. At the same time though, they always end up changing things, so then you (or at least I do) end up thinking, "This is what really happened at this part in the book."
Re: Harry Potter..
Shouldn't this be in the Entertainment forum?
I'm not going to the midnight showing. I'm not seeing it in theatres at all unless a friend randomly invites me. I'll just wait for the DVD rental.

Just got back from seeing the movie. I was disappointed with a few parts, but overall, I liked it. Not my favorite, but definitely rewatchable material after the first fifteen minutes.

Re: Harry Potter..
Agreed! Only I was highly disappointed!
I can't believe they did what they did about not explaining everything! The book was about THE HALF BLOOD PRINCE and Snape's singular glory scene which says it's him did not do him justice!
Poor Snape...now everyone is going to hate him who doesn't read the books!
BASTURDS!

Re: Harry Potter..
Yes, I do agree with that. If I hadn't read all the books, I probably would think he was a pretty big bastard.
We talked about a lot of things during the car ride home. Not nearly as much as we did when Order of the Phoenix came out, but we did talk a lot.
I was so mean. There was one point towards the end of the movie where there was dead silence in the theater, and I said "the end!". I said it quietly, but it still carried a little bit.
I hated the beginning, though. With a passion.
- Spoiler:
- My sister and I spent a good portion of the car ride home debating/explaining to my mom how in the books, he's portrayed as a "good guy posing as a bad guy posing as a good guy" and how it's supported so well, yet in the movie's he's portrayed more as a "bad guy posing as a good guy who makes everyone think he's bad".

Re: Harry Potter..
They don't explain things till the seventh book. I'd know, I just read the sixth and seventh last week.
That's how you're supposed to feel coming out of the movie, because that's how you felt at the end of the sixth book. However, I will say that they changed a good deal of things that didn't have anything to change.

Re: Harry Potter..
I was kinda disappointed by the movie. The trailers made it look so epic, but then it just ... wasn't epic. All of the win was in the trailers, and they cut so much from the book (most of the important things).
There are a few more issues that I have with the movie, but I'm too tired to think of all of them now. I guess they did the best they could- I just hope that the last two movies are more satisfying. :/
- Spoiler:
- I'm thankful that Remus/Tonks didn't get much screentime because I can't stand that pairing. Ginny hid the potions book in the movie, when it should have been Harry, and it was so important that Harry did it too, because he's supposed to hide it near Ravenclaw's diadem and realize what it is later on in the seventh book. Also, I was mad about how they did Dumbledore's death- Harry would not have just stood there; they should have kept the scene the way it was in the book, where Harry was Petrified and under the invisibility cloak.

Re: Harry Potter..
I went to the midnight showing and I enjoyed it. My entire family enjoyed it actually. I didn't really watch it as it had a book with it considering after being disappointed with other book to movie, movies. So that probably made it better, lol.
They could and should have gone into more detail about the half-blood prince part and the Draco parts in my opinion though. It would have made it easier for those who haven't read the books to follow.

Re: Harry Potter..
In all honesty, if you don't read the books, you never fully understand what's going on in any of the Harry Potter movies.

QFT
I took my daughter to see the "Half Blood Prince" yesterday (she's nine). And though I thought it was a better movie than the others, I was still SO glad I had read the book beforehand. I think she asked me five or six times, "Mom, why did he do that... ?" or "Mom, did that mean... ?"
Oh... and tackle pounce Kathryn, just for GP...

Yeah, but you can still understand them... And you can say that about any book to movie, movie. Actually, you can say that about any movie, any book, any song. The only person who's really going to fully understand it is the person who created it.

QFT: "Quoted for truth"
GP: "general purpose"
First is just an internet term thingy I picked up.
Second? I forget, not everyone has been in the military. Acronym crazy bunch o' fools... hehehe

It's true, and it makes me sad, because there really is so much worth understanding in the series. :/

Re: Harry Potter..
I saw the movie Wednesday[15th] and I liked it. I have to say though, that cutting out some MAJOR parts, and putting in those that weren't in the books made me mad. Luna finding Harry instead of Tonks.. Mostly stuff that was in the books but not in the movie made me kinda mad.
Prisoner of Azkaban is still, by far, my favorite. I cosplay Hermione from that year. Time-turner and all! =D
