Re: NaNoWriMo [2010]
I'm behind, somewhere around 2,000 words. But that's about how I figured it would go, because of my birthday; I just have to start playing catch-up from the last couple days. ^^
Re: NaNoWriMo [2010]
You can catch up. I have full faith in you.
And how was your birthday?

I made it to 12,000 words tonight. ^_^
I just can't update because the site is down.

Well, got in enough to be slightly ahead of where I should be word count wise. As long as I can keep up with writing at least the min. word count I should be ok. We'll see if maybe I couldn't get ahead in the next few days.

Re: NaNoWriMo [2010]
That's awesome, Sunwolf. (I always want to spell the 'wolf' with a 'u', haha. My MC's last name is 'Wulf'.) I am, as per usual, behind again, because I spent last night reading instead of writing like a good NaNo-er. (Bad Raine. Bad.)
I hope to make up the word count tonight; however, it may or may not happen since this day just keeps getting better and better. (Note sarcasm.)

Re: NaNoWriMo [2010]
Ugh... Behind again. Need to write 2,300 words today to get caught back up. I am guessing that since all the funeral stuff is done I will be better at writing more consistently. Well, I got a lot of day left so I should make good use of it! Get caught up on college work and writing. Hopefully.

I keep having waves of self-doubt that are squishing my "want" to open the word-doc and keep writing. I worry that it is boring, crap, weak, wandering, too long, too drawn out, etc. Been running back to my safety blanket of Flash Fiction this last past week. Flash is safer because you cannot get bored with under 1k words Its to the point and not flowery
I am at 22k though! Struggling on. Not letting my self-doubt get the better of me.
Re: NaNoWriMo [2010]
I am at 14,700 now. I am doing alright but I need to get another 1,300 words done today and I am mentally drained from school.

Going to try and shoot for 25k today, or possibly more if my fingers decide that they want to go a bit faster. :/
By the way, Reffy, I think I found you on the Nano site under the name Reffent, but for some reason, 'Add as a buddy' is blacked out.

16,670! Finally caught up again. I should try to work on getting ahead again. But I also have work for college... That is a tough call. How about the rest of you all? You make your quota today?

Yup! Reffent is me. Dunno why it was blacked out ... I added you though!
Re: NaNoWriMo [2010]
I have 16253 words, and am sitting down to write for the day. It's time for a plot twist... :/

Congrats! I'm at 20592. I'm that stubborn turtle, slow and steady wins the race! Haha. If I wrote any faster I'd go mad.

Re: NaNoWriMo [2010]
Reached 27K today...though, mostly because I didn't have enough time to update yesterday. Still, glad to see I'm ahead.
Also, figured out why Add as a buddy was blacked out; for some reason, Nano logged me out even though I had 'Remember me' ticked.

Re: NaNoWriMo [2010]
I am doing good today. I pulled a little bit ahead and am currently sitting on 19,403. Hoping to break 20K by the end of the night!
Edit: Yeah! Made 20,203 words by the end of the day. I am back to being a full day ahead.

Holy moly! You are unstoppable! 27K and well ahead of schedule. Wish I had your stamina and perseverance Congrats!
Re: NaNoWriMo [2010]
Thanks for the compliment, Ref! I really feel on top of the game, though...if I want to stay ahead, I think I'll have to hurry up my pace. After all, on the 15th, the norm should be everyone at 25k.
Reached 28k just now; I think I'm going to do 1,000 words an hour for at least three hours a day, stopping on bad days where I don't feel like it.

Re: NaNoWriMo [2010]
at 22,644. I really didn't want to write but when I sat down to write it, it came out easily. Here's a bit of the story:
- Spoiler:
I had no idea they were there until a gun cocked and a dark voice said, “hands up, Missy,” and my gut clenched tight. Why had I not seen that Simon fellow? Certainly being robbed was worse than having company! What was I thinking? Why was I so stubborn? Tears fell out of my eyes as the man came closer, holding the gun against my back as he reached for my bag. I begged and pleaded that he not take my things, that I would starve and die, but he didn’t listen. After he had grabbed my things, he felt up my body, very rudely, and took my coin purse and even ripped out the precious items I had sewn into my clothes. “You won’t have to worry, darling, I’ll take care of you,” he said, and then he dropped his gun and grabbed me. It was the same thing all over again, except the situation was far more dire. He was going to rape me, then he was going to kill me. That much was obvious.
I screamed and cried, and fought him with all my might. I must have done well, for he eventually reached for his gun and shoved it into my face, forcing me to lay still. However, trying to rape me with a gun as large as his was proving difficult, as he could not hold the trigger, have the end facing me, and be on top of me all at the same time. The gun was so big I wondered if he shot me this close if it wouldn’t hurt him as well. This seemed to bother him as well, for eventually he dropped the gun and, holding me down, reached into his coat for something else. I took the chance and grabbed his gun and slammed it upside his head, and he fell back with a cry. Then I spun it around so the barrel faced him, and put my hand on the trigger. I had no idea how to fire a gun, but it was a far better state than it had been before. He whipped out his knife, but I stood proudly and he hesitated attacking me. “Drop my things!” I shouted, and again, he hesitated. I stepped forward. “Drop my things you pig fucker, or I will blow your head off!” I had heard foul language all my life, but still this felt foreign out of my mouth, as though I was repeating another language without knowing the details of its meaning.
But then another man came out of the forest, and the first one smiled. It must have been a friend, for suddenly he didn’t fear me. They both stepped forward. “Get back!” I shouted, but I was losing ground. I grimaced, and began to squeeze the trigger…
There was a BANG, and for a moment I thought I had shot him, but I realized that I had not pulled the trigger. Chance ran off with a whinny, and the first man went down with a THUMP, and the second made to take off, waiting a second too long to grab the bag of stolen goods from where the other man had dropped it to try and rape me. I did not hesitate this time, and BANG went my own gun, and the force of it sent me flying backward. I was almost sure I had broken my shoulder, but I stood up anyway to see if I had actually shot him. I had, just barely, hit him on his leg. He dropped the bag and hobbled off into the forest, when a shadow came up behind me and finished what I could not accomplish. I fell back onto the dirt, too hurt, scared and tired to hold myself up any longer. The man gathered my things, I could see as my eyes began to fade, and I wondered if he were stealing from me too. He came to me then, and I shoved the gun over to him, knowing I would not shoot it because I couldn’t bear the rebound, and not knowing that it would not have another shot until I reload it.
“I’m not going to hurt you. I’m Simon.” he said, and I felt as though the angels had come, and promptly passed out.
I woke up some time later on an unfamiliar horse, in the arms of an unfamiliar man, with a very unfamiliar pain in my right shoulder. “Evening,” he said, realizing that I had woken, but I could not turn to face him, and the mysteriousness of that made me frightened. I saw that Chance was trotting along side us, and I tried to drag myself away from my captor, still delusional from sleep and not realizing that I would merely fall and be trampled. “Whoa, hang on there a minute girl!” and he stopped his horse and helped me off. My shoulder burned fiercely. This man, Simon, I corrected myself, seemed to have a psychic aura, for he knew as soon as he set me down what was wrong.
“Your shoulder is dislocated. If you will let me, I can fix it, but it is going to hurt. Once its fixed it will feel much better though,” he added at the end, as a sort of incentive for me to let him do whatever he needed to do.
I studied him a bit. He was much taller than Chester, with broad shoulders, dark hair and dark eyes. His face was clean shaven but the darkness of his facial hair was shining through anyway. “How do you know how to fix my shoulder,” I asked him, afraid to let him try to fix me.
“I’m studying to be a physician,” he said, “but there is only so much I can learn from old Watsworth. I’m heading to a bigger city to apprentice under some more prestigious names, if they will have me,” he responded. “Here, let me help.”
I grudgingly let him, and he grabbed my arm and yanked and I screamed for surely he must have broken me. But when my eyes could see again, and my fingers could feel again, I could tell that he had done his job. It was many minutes later before I could mutter, “Thank you,” and he helped me onto Chance and we went along the road again.
“Mrs. Murray sent me after you,” he said, some hour later. “You’re Lena MacKenzie, right?”
“Yes. I’ll have to tell her thank you if I ever see her again. I should have saught you out when I had the chance. I wasn’t thinking.” I spoke honestly with Simon for I felt indebted to him perhaps even more than I had to Chester. Perhaps it was because I again realized the fragility of life, and how little control I had over it.
“You were doing well, before I showed up. Many woman would have given up by then, if they were in your situation.” He commented.
“Yea,” I said, remembering all of the whores of my old home.
“Yea?” He said, laughing a bit. “You know your own strength then?”
I looked at him, not finding the conversation the least bit funny. “I know my own limits, Mr. Steward.”
“Ah,” he responded, but said nothing more. What was it about me that was so amusing, I wondered. It was not my plain looks, nor my conversation, nor my intelligence. I supposed it was just my attitude. I refused to let anyone in.

Re: NaNoWriMo [2010]
Entertaining story, Ryona! I would post snippets of mine, but...eh, honestly, I can't find a part that really wows me, you know?
As a side note...reached 30K; feels pretty good to be so far ahead. According to the stats, I'm at least a week ahead of schedule. Also, funny thing; updated earlier tonight with 29,028 and updated just a minute ago or so with 30,028, exactly 1,000 difference.

Re: NaNoWriMo [2010]
Well, I haven't written a single word in four days I think, mostly because I just have too much to deal with right now, and it sucks, frankly. Hopefully I can make up the difference this weekend, but I'm so far behind.
However! I'm so glad to hear that everyone else is doing so, SO well with NaNo! Way to go, FoG!

That's awesome, Raptor!
I'm about to bring up my story and start typing. I just have to tear myself away from Cracked first, haha.

Re: NaNoWriMo [2010]
My goal for today is to be at 25k and be a full 2 days ahead. Since I only need 2,300 words I think I can do that. Glad to hear that everyone else is doing good. Rainy I think you can catch up if you set your mind to it. You are not terribly far behind at this point so I think you can still catch back up with the time left.

Thanks, Ragter! There is a whole lot of boring in my story, but those parts I was pretty proud of. Hope you make your goal Sunwolf, congrats on being ahead Ragter, congrats on NOT being behind Raptor, and keep trudging along Raine!

Urgh, today the creative juices flow very slowly, even with a fight scene to write.
I think I might be getting sick, I have had a terrible migraine all day.

Thanks Sunwolf and Ryona! I'm sure I can do it too. I just have to actually do it.
Again, thanks for the support, all.
And way to go everyone who's keeping up with their word count or who is ahead.
