I'm also cautiously celebrating. My Canadian hubby will be moving to the States permanently the first week of May instead of waiting until November. YAY

Muse, that's so fantastic! I'm really happy for you!
Gadreille, that's really exciting! What does one do to assist a professional photographer exactly?

Mostly hold the flash/reflector, help distract little children, and watch watch watch!
I had an amazing experience and she wants me to continue assisting her...She wants to train me me assist at weddings, something I could actually make a few bucks on! I'm really excited for this "foot in the door".
She also offered to do free glamour shots of my friend and I...will be doing this on the 24th. I'm really excited, because at my friend's wedding, we didn't really get to sit down and have our hair/makeup done together. This is going to be tons of fun. I just have to figure out the dreaded question...
"What do I wear?"

That is so awesome! I bet it would have been a lot of fun. How cool would it be if she made you her apprentice rather than just assisting?
Making a bit more money isn't so bad, either. =D
Also, I'm really excited to see those pictures. Is there a theme of any kind for these glamor shots?

Re: The Celebration Thread :D
I'm definitely learning, and in a way I kind of feel like this is an internship of sorts...isn't that kind of like modern day apprenticing? Lol. I hope I can eventually work with a camera with her but I am quite happy to take baby steps. Even if all I do is get a little better at a hobby, it's well worth it, and a huge confidence boost to have a professional photographer want me around!
Brandy and I have not decided yet on a theme but...we are working on it. I'm excited to be on the other end of the camera...wondering how it is going to turn out!

Interning is, in my mind, a form of apprenticeship, so yay!
I think once you two decide on a theme (and holy crap, every time I see pictures of you two, you look like you could be related even though I know you're not), the choice of what to wear will be easier. =D

Re: The Celebration Thread :D
I find it weird that I have no interest in putting this in the complaints section, but I can't help but feel overwhelming joy and relief.
Long story short, a terrifying and new life experience really has me shaken up, I admit. But I'm overjoyed that I'm safe and that, for the most part, all seems like it'll be well.
- Spoiler:
- I was just in my first car wreck. The light turned yellow, but, I was going 40 mph and couldn't stop in time so I had to keep through the intersection. A red SUV turned left, though we weren't anywhere near each other, but, a car followed right behind the SUV. His story is that he couldn't see me, but I had full view of him, and even honked my horn. Still, he proceeded to make a left and slammed right into the side of my car. I had my best friend in the car, but, we're both alright.
I couldn't get out through my side of the car, so I had to crawl out through the passenger's side. After I called 911 and then my parents, I realized the other driver hadn't gotten out of his car. Immediately, I worried he'd been hurt or was trapped inside; his car looked much more damaged then mine. So I ran to his car and tapped on his door. I remember I was crying, and asking if he could get out and if he was okay. He got out and he was just a kid too, younger than me. But then he proceeded to scream at me. He cussed me out, said I had no right to go, or be on the road for that matter. I didn't engage him at all, I just said I was glad he was okay and that we'd talk when the police arrived.
They were there immediately. The officer asked me and my friend what happened first, but the other driver cut in. First off, he lied and said I ran a red light, "yellow turning red." When the officer asked him to make a more direct declaration of the light, first he said yellow and then red. My friend and I then told our side of the story. The officer spent more time with the other drive than me, much more. And that had me worried. I know it's petty to be concerned about the consequences, at a time like that, but I legitimately didn't believe I was at fault.
His mother showed up and my parents arrived as our cars were being toed. The officer finally approached us and let us know, because of my and my friend's statements and the other driver's changing story, that he was at fault. He had to yield for me. He was getting the ticket and, despite the possibility of my car being totaled, I was good to go.
The officer did say that, because of the kid's attitude and reaction, he thought it might be possible that he and his mother would take the ticket to court. That freaked me out, but then I was told all I'd have to do is give a statement.
I'm not celebrating that another driver was punished. Though he was at fault, I do hope he's okay and that both our cars can be repaired. I'm just praising God in heaven that we're all alright. The shock's warn off and I have a sore head and neck, but, those aside, all is well. Same goes for my friend.
The accident was relatively minor; my airbags didn't even deploy. Still, I lost a cousin I was close to in a car accident and, since then, I've been deathly afraid of accidents. Just to know that me, my friend and even the other driver are safe and fine is an amazing relief. I hope the ticket doesn't affect his record or his insurance because, it was just a poor decision he made. I had the feeling he was younger than me, by the way he reacted. But I hope all is well for him.
My mom also wouldn't let go of me. She was kissing my forehead and telling me how much she loved me. She dropped me off - she has to attend a meeting for my sister's sport team - but she said she'll be returning with a milkshake. I think I'm happiest that she's expressing some love for me. Though it's sad that it took a car accident, more good came out of this than bad, I like to think. And everyone's safe.
Long story short, a terrifying and new life experience really has me shaken up, I admit. But I'm overjoyed that I'm safe and that, for the most part, all seems like it'll be well.
Re: The Celebration Thread :D
I'm glad your mom was so relieved that you're alive and that you weren't punished for an accident that wasn't your fault.
That kid's insurance is going up, no doubt. Bad decisions in driving have consequences. Hopefully, he'll drive more carefully from now on.

Re: The Celebration Thread :D
I got my acceptance letter today. It's just a community college, so it isn't a big deal, but I didn't even complete admission this year. I guess it just transferred over from last year which is nice. I just need to set aside and a couple of hours to complete the student orientation, and I'll be golden. Apparently, the Accuplacer Exam (reading comprehension, mathematical skills, etc.) is no longer required for registration, but it will be required for the classes themselves.
Furthermore, I found the perfect X-Pen for my new rabbit once I get one, and Jonathan and I kind of got dead set on Flemish Giants which kind of sucks because I don't know if any animal shelters will have them, but I will try my hardest to find one in a shelter. Jonathan is going to go to the doctor to make sure he's not extremely allergic to rabbits (I don't care if I am. I will suffer gladly for a rabbit.) because if he is, we won't be getting one. However, if it's only a mild allergy, we'll get one. Here's hoping.
I've also decided that if we get a rabbit, I may name it after a Targeryan dragon... Or I may name him Drogo... It's not all set in stone. It all depends on the rabbit's colouring and personality and such.

You can't name him Varys, then I will fear him showing up in my bedchamber at the hour of the wolf!
Hem, I should stay on topic... I celebrate getting closer to having a patio cover built and this breath of cool weather!

Re: The Celebration Thread :D
Yay for patio covers in hellishly hot climates! I'm sure your pets will be really pleased with the new development, too.
I celebrate the fact that my love went to the allergist, and it turns out the only thing to which he's allergic (he was tested for rabbits, cats, dogs, dust, mold, local flora, etc.) is dust mites. We're getting a rabbit, and if we decide to get a second pet, it will probably be a cat.
Gadreille, Varys isn't in my top list of names I've got so far. What I have so far as far as names I like for my rabbit are:
Drogo
Rhaegar
Toki
Tyrion
Zayek
I may come up with names I like better in the future, but this is what I've got for now. I'm so fucking excited. You guys have no idea how worried I was that Jonathan would be allergic to rabbits, and now we have the option for a future kitty, too! ^^_^^

Re: The Celebration Thread :D
Well, I know for sure I cannot get the rabbit until after April 21st. While my Blockbuster location closes on the 20th, everyone has to be there for a full day (like... noon to midnight or some shit like that) to help finish the closing process. I won't have time for a rabbit until after I'm done with that place.
Unfortunately, I've been watching the humane societies like a hawk for weeks, but there are no Flemish Giants to be had there. I'll continue to watch them, for I haven't given up, but there's only one Flemish Giant breeder in all of Utah. It's very unlikely - as a result - that one will end up in the humane society. I feel conflicted, but that was the compromise. If we ended up with a specific breed we wanted, and it wasn't in the humane society by the time we could get a rabbit, we'd go through a breeder.
I'm going to call the breeder today with all of my questions to get a head start on it at least.
