I get an E-mail notification pop up every time someone posts.

So yeah.

BTW, please refrain from calling me Luscious. That name is too awkward for me to bare. Lucian, or Lu will be fine.

Luscious is more a vampire sounding name anyways. Very unbefitting of my furry friend.

Lycans don't have a sun allergy... Or a garlic allergy...

Or a steak through the heart allergy...

Only a silver allergy!

Vampires don't need a visit to the vet.

Vampires don't need their tags.
Or collars.
Or leashes.

Vampires don't need to pee on trees to mark their territory either XD LOL

Yes.

And I stated it in said post.

So once again, there is a flaw in your post.

Which means Lycans are smarter.

SO HA!

Vampires or Lycans? - Page 3 Empty Re: Vampires or Lycans?

Post by Guest Mon Jun 01, 2009 4:19 pm

Well I voted Vampires because of the passion behind several vampires we read about. Romance and pride have always been key factors in the vampire family. As far as Lycans go; I like them, but I see less outstanding characteristics about them. The only human side I see in Lycans is what has been portrayed of them in the Underworld series. I have yet to learn about any other characteristics.

More on Vampires, however; I've enjoyed watching them go from evil, to good, to waring with each other (like in Twilight and Underworld). We rarely see Lycans fighting each other, or changing their diplomacy with humans (which is normally slaughter on sight). Vampiral diplomacy with humans varies greatly from series to series. In Underworld and Blade they were referred to as a resource. In Twilight and Fledgling they were a neutral race, but looked upon as companions when the time called for it.

This is why I like Vampires over Lycans, frankly because I know more about them. I'm sure, though, that if I could learn more on Lycan/werewolf mythology then I may change my perception.

Quick question/point: In Twilight, the wolves were not actually meant to be werewolves. (As far as I understand Lycan is simply another name for werewolf and not necessarily a different creature/type) I believe that point was discussed in the fourth book of the Twilight series? The wolves in Twilight were something altogether different--> they had nothing to do with the moon and could not transfer the wolfness by infectious biting. Instead it was a genetic anomaly and slightly magical/spirit offshoot that had to do with the Native American mythology of the region.

Hence point, I believe, is that anything you might learn from the Twilight series regarding lycan/werewolves is actually not really viable as the wolves in Twilight aren't really lycans/werewolves. Smile But keep looking them up, or changing the idea up. We did make them up after all.

Vampires or Lycans? - Page 3 Empty Re: Vampires or Lycans?

Post by Kathryn Lacey Tue Jun 02, 2009 1:39 am

Frankly, I enjoyed the Twilight series... sort of... I couldn't really admit to myself that I enjoyed it until I read the last book, but I had to get through the series to find out what happened. That's just how I am. I don't believe that Stephenie Meyers is a great writer. I believe she was imaginative, though.

Vampires were my favorites when I was going through my goth stage which lasted for about five years. I really blame that on knowing next to nothing about Lycans, though.

When I was seventeen, I played a Lycan for the first time, and I was completely hooked henceforth. I loved the fact that they could transform into animals. I loved the feral side to them that almost completely lost its humanity when transformed. I loved the idea of their beauty and grace because animals do have that naturally, so there's no reason why it shouldn't transfer to humans. I loved the wild nature of them. Argh! I can't even fully explain my love for lycans, but they are far more appealing to me than vampires. Perhaps it's the fact that they are completely living, that they can breed, that they're warm and well... not dead at all!

Also, Lucian, usually vampires receive stakes through their hearts not steaks. I can't imagine a steak would pierce very easily anyway.

Also, while I'm on the subject of correction, you often use the word "your" for "you're," and I always notice it, and it drives me insane. Remember, "you're" is a contraction that means "you are" while "your" is possessive, meaning someone's something or other.

AH! I'm so glad to get that out of my system. I'm sorry for any offense. I've tried for soooo long to keep at bay and be polite, but I was never one to be polite for long. ^o_~^

{EDIT}
I'm the one who renewed the tie!

(I've noticed that too, Kathryn. I'm sure he'll appreciate you pointing it out though.)

I, too, love that lycans are living creatures, rather than the walking dead. I, personally, just have always loved animals (pretty much since birth -- I was kissing worms and toads as a wee little kid xD), so lycans definitely attract me. I also love wolves. I'm a huge dog fan, and wolves are the wild and majestic ancestors of their domesticated cousins. I think there would be nothing more beautiful than seeing a person transform into such a creature.

I just had to vote for vampires even though I love both. But thing is, vampires are usually portrayed and drop dead sexy and amazingly telepathic. Werewolves are usually more the fit as *u** and pure sex gods. Or maybe that's just in the books I read. :p

Vampires or Lycans? - Page 3 Empty Re: Vampires or Lycans?

Post by Hisoka Fri Dec 04, 2009 10:18 pm

First of I will not have the Brat Prince bad mouthed in my presence. Lestat is awesome. Hard headed and slightly suicidal with the powers of an ancient.

And that brings me to why I will always prefer Vampires. Evey moment spent alive only strengthens Vampire Kind. And the old saying what doesn't kill you only makes you stronger is true for vampire. As long as they have time to recover even the most deadly wounds in the end only make them stronger. An unlike Werewolves or Lycans their powers are not merely physical. Ancients can kill with a thought and control fire with a twitch of their hands. Telekinesis and hell they can even fly if they live long enough. There are also a lot faster and quicker on their feet. Combine that with the aforementioned powers and wolfy is going down.

Plus Vampires have glamour and can trick mortals into doing anything they want. Plus they don't have to transform into some hideous form. Vampires always stay good looking. And that is a bonus for staying hidden.

And to end Twilight has never been a good series. The novel is worse then the movie, and having watched the movie first I didn't think that was possible. Anyone who thinks Twilight was good needs their head checked.
