Re: Emoria: OOC
Right, so there seems to be a small amount of confusion regarding the spelling of my people. I'm in no way calling anyone out, as I have probably messed up a couple of times myself, but here are the intended ways to refer to the Ayre.
Ayren- (n, singular)- A single person-- 'an Ayren warrior'
(adj)-describes a trait-- 'Ayren architecture'
Ayre- (n, collective) Refers to the race as a whole-- 'the Ayre have an unusual set of morals and values'
Ayrens- (n, plural) Refers to a group of two or more Ayren people-- '143 disgruntled Ayrens is not something you want to be faced with'
Again, this is informative, and nothing more. It's not going to hurt my feelings if it's not done this way, as long as everyone knows who is being referred to.

Well, Jean simply must answer to that!
However short it may be.
And Deadeye, I laughed when you said that Jean was half-insane.
....wait a second...is he? Hmm, thats food for thought.

I hate to do this but, Dax I think you might have forgotten that the Sythen were not known to have been made by morgarath or be associated with him.

Really? The being practically radiates darkness.
Either way, it isn't right to blame a senile old man for his inferred accusations. Give that man a porch, a rocking chair, and a shotgun and we got ourselves a stereotype!

I tend to agree.

I am now picturing Jean with a shotgun and a sign that reads, "Trespassers will be shot. Survivors will be shot again."

I think, to be fair, someone should call him on his accusations (if Indeed he made any out loud, I honestly haven't read it yet.)

Dax, no offense was intended, Nilus is just unfamiliar with the political game that Jean earned his living on. His dramatic attitude changes, variable behavior towards Corbina, etc have Nilus a bit lost. The Ayre are generally very straightforward in conversation. I know what you're doing, but my character doesn't.

I laughed at that. Pretty much what I am aiming for so thats good.
I thought Jean had made a big enough impression on everyone, then again maybe it wasn't clear.
The man doesn't exactly have the clearest judgement on his enemies. (like you said, he is a zealous and stalwart intellectual red-neck... is that an oxymoron?) Jean thinks whatever he wants in his head about his enemies. It could be anything really.
The only time you know what hes saying is true is when he actually says it out loud. He has to be certain what he's saying isn't total nonsense, you know?
Besides, wouldn't a priest of vatienne, amongst everyone else in the room (and maybe the thendari...?) be able to sense such intense and pure darkness? I mean, even if Jean couldn't feel Morgaraths stain on an individual (unless he can, but that may be overpowered), he can feel a concentration of darkness (and/or light). He is pretty stongly attuned to that.
No need. I explained what happened and I don't want this stretching on for pages at a time like other issues have.
Besides, like you said, I did not make my acusations public... yet. *cough*
You never know what crazy 'ol Jean is gonna do.
Honestly, I don't know where you could have possibly offended me, so no worries.
Besides, Jean (and his creator) are big boys, we can take it. I mean, Jean hasn't exactly been the most polite up to now.

Sorry for being so swamped lately, guys.
I have to stop doing that, spreading myself too thin. But I just want to do everything and I can never get to it all!
Luckily my guys are the patient observer type.
I'll get to work on a post as soon as possible.

I've been spreading myself pretty thin, too, as of late. I apologize, but I probably won't be able to even fathom making a post until Sunday.

I'm going to be busy swapping out the engine on my car this weekend, but come Sunday I should be able to post again. Plaguewalker, if you're too busy to make a post I can modify mine to fit the current situation, I just wanted some good character interaction

Re: Emoria: OOC
Hurro, everyone! I plan to post at some vague time later today. As for an explanation...my new job is stock for the night crew. So, I tend to be gone during my usual peak hours of creativity, and during peak fog hours...
So, please bare with me as I adjust to my new 'sleep' scheduale, and what not, and the feeling of coming home every night with my legs ready to fall off, and my hands bruised and almost bleeding.
Good times...good times...
No need to edit, Deadeye. I'll have Ayurent usher the triptuplet-thing-a-ma-jig into the council in my post. Or would you prefer I leave us out for a bit more interaction?
I think I covered everything...maybe I'll remember later. Or not. Who knows? Not me!

Plaguewalker:
Go ahead and do whatever you want with your post, I can come up with a fitting response for just about anything you put down. If Ayurent returns the friendly gesture, fine, but even if he shoves Nilus out of the way and walks right in, I will come up with some sort of reply. If you have him enter the council room in your next post, I will have Nilus follow in my next post so we can get the council started. If you decide you wanted to have more conversation than that, I will reply accordingly.

It's going to be veeeeery interesting to see what happens in regard to the Sythen. Poor Raptorman has to deal with everybody else's characters' anger and contempt toward his own characters. xD Can't wait to see what the mastermind has in store.

I'm not really sure that all this preknowledge of the Sythen is particularly fair to Raptorman, but it's not really my problem. I'm just pretty sure that they're supposed to be considered to be drifters, rather than servants of shadow.

Yea, it is kind of taking advantage of "already knowing". I think that if you guys could tone down your suspicions a bit, we can enjoy a bit more foreshadowing as the story progresses.

Re: Emoria: OOC
Look, this is what I had posted on the sythen, this here is all that anyone knows about them aside from those who live in the mountains of night. Please people, I did go and detail this several times before.
Sythen: The sythen are a race of serpent-like people. They are a rare and reclusive race. They have great difficulty breeding and they seem in some ways not to be put together quite right. They are humanoid in shape, but are covered in scales. Their faces are flat. Their scales range in color from the more common dull gray to the rare midnight black or white. The sythen are cold-blooded.

Just in case I wasn't clear, Silvone and I agree with Raptorman on this issue. You may of course assume he is evil and over time reveal that you believe he is linked with the mountains of night, but not right now, please! I'm sorry that I am asking you to change your posts, I hope that you will be able to easily tailor them to fit your original ideas but without directly assuming a relationship.
Also, Raptorman, to encourage this anonynimity (sp?) you may want to try and portray him in a more neutral fashion until the secret is revealed.
I'm not going to be on here for the rest of today, so I hope there are no issues because I won't get to them until tomorrow.

In that case, where are they expected to be found since it isn't common knowledge that they are related to the Mountains of Night? Or are they just not really known in general?
Also, were they not in Morgarath's army all those years ago? If they were, then some of the nations (the ones directly involved with the war) might have some prior knowledge to their allegiance, even if it is just from tales of old.
Note: I'm not nay saying the GMs' decisions and Raptorman's wishes, just trying to get a little more clarification on this species beyond their appearances.

Re: Emoria: OOC
Those are good questions that should be explained, but could they not be percieved similar to mercenary nations? Even if they fought for the mountains of night, if they were in few enough numbers it can be assumed that they were hired hands. (This is my last post of the day, so I hope you can resolve this without us).

Re: Emoria: OOC
The Sythen are a race of nomadic serpent people. No one knows where their homeland is as they have only ever been seen in small groups. The Sythen did not fight in the wars of the past as far as anyone knows. Mainly because morgarath commanded them not to.

Re: Emoria: OOC
It looks like my attempts to make this quietly go away didn’t work.
However, I think this is causing more trouble than it’s worth. Every poster knows for a fact that the Sythen are ‘officially’ not associated with Morgarath even though they really are. That would mean no character would know of the ties between the Sythen and the M.o.N, unless it is the characters that are simply being realistic. In Error.
Our characters are in error, mine was supposed to be, big whoop. They are human hence they make mistakes. Not to mention that everyone kept their mouth shut, so it’s no real problem. And even if someone had, or will, open their mouths, I am sure the Sythen will gladly put them back in their place, yes? As long as it is portrayed as a human error on the part of the character, I think it really doesn’t matter.
If you see some snake-like thing in a black robe walking in a room, my character was tailored to close his mind, shut his eyes and yell “EVIL! EVIL!” a couple thousand times while running in a circle. It’s called racism. Jean can believe whatever he wants to.
Anyway, that’s all I have to say.

It is likewise with my character, except not anywhere near this much.
The character is serpentine in appearance, wears a black-hooded rode and fits the basic stereo-types for "evil".
Venteux, although her people tend to be extremely tolerant, are suspicious of any being that appears affiliated with the shadows. Any person known to be or suspected to be affiliated with the Plane of Shadow is an enemy to the Elemental Planes. She's not suspicious (yet) of the Tynir or I'nak. That will likely change over the coarse of the meeting.
She's not going to outright call you evil or even /think/ that. But, she is going to be suspicious. Unfounded suspicions shouldn't be a threat to your idea.

What I am trying to say is that if this were a book, I think the author would make a mistake by so early in the book introducing the suspicious idea. That is why I was hoping you guys would edit.
Please.
Edit: I'm also not digging the fact that I have to drag you guys into every compromise I suggest...I wish that for once, when there is a dispute, you all would just listen to me and Silvone instead of arguing until I feel I have to contact the administrator. So...please. I don't want to hate this role play! You guys are killing me here...

Sorry. I didn't think the last sentence of my post would cause this much drama. After all, it is just one sentence.
I do not intend to undermine Raptorman's character design in the least. If you think that the last sentence is too much, I can remove it.

Re: Emoria: OOC
This is Silvone
I don't really like forcing people to edit their posts. I would hate to have to edit my own post, since I don't tend to do that even when I know there are errors. Therefore, this is my own compromise for this situation.
Anyone can think whatever they want about the Sythen. However, there are facts and there are rumors. Therefore, my own character, being well-traveled in a sense due to his position in the Guild, will stick up for the Sythen against any verbal accusations based on the facts that he knows about them. Shadowy and evil-feeling or not, it will add some obviously much-needed balance to this issue.
However, their description, as Raptorman put here, is in the Races section in the information thread. What is in there is ALL that our characters would know. They didn't fight in the wars of Illuria or any other wars, so I would ask that to be edited out of the post it was in. Bird of Hermes feeling the shadow around the Sythen is acceptable because that is within her power. Jean and Kalon's character (sorry...I'm horrible at remembering names) can think whatever they want to think, but they can't based those prejudices on fact since there really is no fact connecting them with Morgorath.
I'm not just deciding these things to end an argument here. They were already decided and stated in the information thread. So please edit your posts to remove any sort of factual reference that connects them to Morgorath because that is undeniabley false (since your characters don't know it), but keep whatever personal thoughts on the matter you want. Keep in mind, though, that if you make those prejudices verbal my own character will rise to his defense. It is in-character for him, and it will keep some balance.
