*chuckles at Eternity* Or water board. Supposedly it leaves no physical traces! Just horrible horrible psychological damage. Sort of like my childhood!

By "people" I mean Me, which I realize is a bit of an oxymoron. Heh, Ox-y Moron. Kinda like Kathryn! *ducks*
Well, if anything, I should hope you wouldn't be laughing at me, but rather, my poor choice of quotes!

Re: Favorite Quotes!
""There is a legend about a bird which sings just once in its life, more sweetly than any other creature on the face of the earth. From the moment it leaves the nest it searches for a thorn tree, and does not rest until it has found one. Then, singing among the savage branches, it impales itself upon the longest, sharpest spine. And, dying, it rises above its own agony to out-carol the lark and the nightingale. One superlative song, existence the price. But the whole world stills to listen, and God in His heaven smiles. For the best is bought only at the cost of great pain... or so says the legend."

They didn't use contractions in Willow? That's obnoxious.

Oh... That's why I always look up the quotes I want online, or I grab the book/show and find it there and type it word for word. Then I get the proper grammar and/or the exact quote. ^^_^^

Re: Favorite Quotes!
Westley: "To the pain," means the first thing you lose will be your feet below the ankles, then your hands at the wrists, next your nose.
Prince Humperdinck: And, then my tongue I suppose. I killed you too quickly the last time; a mistake I don't mean to duplicate tonight.
Westley: I wasn't finished. The next thing you lose will be your left eye, followed by the right . . .
Prince Humperdinck: And, then my ears, I understand. Let's get on with it.
Westley: Wrong! Your ears you keep, and I'll tell you why. So that every shriek of every child at seeing your hideousness will be yours to cherish, every babe that weeps at your approach, every woman who cries out: "Dear God, what is that thing?" will echo in your perfect ears. That is what "to the pain" means. It means I leave you in anguish, wallowing in freakish misery, forever

Re: Favorite Quotes!
The following is a quote from Robert Ingersoll's Voltaire lecture/book. He has many profound things he says in there, much of which relating to religion. I apologize if you are a religious person, but I find truth in what this man, an intellectual from my own state, speaks. I thought this was very accurate:
This one relates to teaching children to believe in God.
Voltaire approached the mythology of the Jews precisely as he did the mythology of the Greeks and the Romans, and the mythology of the Chinese or the Iroquois Indians. There is nothing in this world too scared to be investigated, to be understood. The philosopher does not hide. Secrecy is not the friend of truth. No man should be reverent at the expense of his reason. Nothing should be worshipped until the reason has been convinced that it is worthy of worship.
This one relates to teaching children to believe in God.
It is the duty of every man to destroy the superstitions of his time, and yet there are thousands of men and women, fathers and mothers, who repudiate with their whole hearts the creeds of superstition, and still allow their children to be taught these lies. They allow their imaginations to be poisoned with the dogma of eternal pain. They allow arrogant and ignorant parsons, meek and foolish teachers, to sow the seeds of barbarism in the minds of their children -- seeds that will fill their lives with fear and pain. Nothing can be more important to a human being than to be free and to live without fear.
It is far better to be a moral free man than an immortal slave.
Fathers and mothers should do their utmost to make their children free. They should teach them to doubt, to investigate, to inquire, and every father and mother should know that by the cradle of every child, as by the cradle of the infant Hercules, crawls the serpent of superstition.

Re: Favorite Quotes!
Eh...somewhat corny quote that I came up with some time ago when I was in 8th grade..
Short, and sweet, in my opinion, very true as well.
No one has a voice if others aren't willing to listen

Re: Favorite Quotes!
I came up with this myself, a few months ago.
I dunno if that rings true or not... but it sounds cool. I was mostly just playing around with making up cool quotes, but I do sort-of think we can influence things like inspiration and seeming coincidence... and bend them to our own devices. lol. At least to a degree. Master of one's destiny type of thing, I suppose.
Or, if it's not possible to master these things on our own, I'm sure there's some other way to do it.
Anyway, it's probably somewhere between profound truth and wishful thinking.

Re: Favorite Quotes!
Fate, you encouraged me to pull out one of my favorite quotes!
"We are in the position of a little child entering a huge library filled with books in many different languages. The child knows someone must have written those books . It does not know how. It does not understand the languages in which they are written. The child dimly suspects a mysterious order in the arrangement of the books but doesn't know what it is. That, it seems to me, is the attitude of even the most intelligent human being toward God. We see a universe marvelously arranges and obeying certain laws, but only dimly understand these laws. Our limited minds cannot grasp the mysterious force that moves the constellations."
- Albert Einstein

Thanks! I love it too. Here's some more from my man.
“Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited to all we now know and understand, while imagination embraces the entire world, and all there ever will be to know and understand.”
"Logic will get you from A to B. Imagination will take you everywhere."

Re: Favorite Quotes!
Those are pretty great Einstein quotes, Danger.
I, myself, am more of a logical left-brainer (which is odd, seeing as I am an art student and love to write stories), and I can't help but favor logic and reason over imagination and belief. I cherish those more, and they just mean more to me.
It's entirely true though that not even the most knowledgeable and intelligible human could even begin to grasp the secrets of the universe and all there truly is to know and understand.
