Re: What are you currently doing?
>.<;
Just got called again. My ship date moved up a week! I'm leaving July 8th now! The good news is that I'm slated to get a nice bonus since the job I'm doing now was labeled as 'critical' as well as some other extra college money I'll start getting in January.
But...this means I've got about 2 weeks, which sucks.

Aw, sorry they surprised you with that one, DeadEye, but it sounds like it'll be worth it in the end, right? That's definitely coming up! Have some fun before you leave, and best of luck to you when you're gone! We'll always be here for whenever you can be online.

Re: What are you currently doing?
I'm writing a list of things to do tomorrow before I hit the sack and forget it all. I write a list for everything these days, including flowcharts for any post I'm doing in RP. I suppose it may be classified as some sort of disorder, but it helps me stay functional...so whatever.
On the upside, I wake up with a clear idea of what my mission for the day is. Just as when I'm writing, I have a progression of the plot in front of me.

I've decided to be a Lothlorién elf rather than a wood elf. Rivendell elves are remarkably similar, too, methinks. Anyway... I already found the ear tips. They're great, and they're only ten dollars. Everything else is still up in the air. =\ I'm having trouble finding a dress and a circlet.
I actually found a dress that would be perfect if I could find one that's available to the public in a better colour ((like blue)). I would be satisfied if I even just had a pattern for it. Here, here, and here. My luck is fading. Bleh... ._.
But yeah. That's what I'm doing right now. I'm hunting for a dress and a circlet. After that, I'm going to figure out how to do my make-up for it. Closer to Halloween, I'll definitely have to see my eye doctor about getting contacts because elves don't wear glasses! I'm thinking about getting contacts that are a lighter shade of blue than my real eyes are.

I just saw a cockroach crawling towards me, freaked out, threw something at it, caught it in a net, and flushed it down the toilet. And then I did it all over again for the second one. And now I'm sitting here on the couch, still somewhat freaked out.
....
In other news, I really like your idea for your elf costume, Kathryn. And I really like the dress design, too!

Re: What are you currently doing?
Ugh! I know how you feel to a lesser degree. The enormous black ants keep showing up around my house. Once, while I was in the bathroom, one crawled right up my leg! I was so horrified. I kill them whenever I see them. I hate insects. The only ones that like my house that I won't kill are moths and those giant mosquitoes that aren't mosquitoes. They eat mosquitoes ((which is why they get to live)).
I really like my idea, too. I just remembered that I have to find shoes, too. bleh... All of these damned circlets are super pricey. I'm not going to get one that's over $150, but that's like... a whole summer paycheck. If it was winter it would only be like... one third of a paycheck. :: sniffles ::
I may end up having to be a Rivendell elf if I can't find a pattern for that to which dress I linked in my earlier post. I found this woman on eBay who will make a dress to my exact measurements for $99 ((I find it funny that the circlet may end up being more expensive than the dress)). There are two designs. There's that red dress with the black dress thing over it that Arwen wore, and there's this silvery-blue dress that Arwen also wore. I look best in blue, so I would probably choose that one if I have to choose one, but I've really got my heart set on the one I mentioned earlier.
If anyone finds a pattern for a dress that's similar to the yellow one, you should totally let me know!

Re: What are you currently doing?
Kathryn, I don't know exactly how similar it really is, but how about something like this? At the same store I got it from, they also had one that had the same style at the top, around the cleavage...
It's kinda funny, though. I've never seen a live cockroach before, so I wasn't expecting to freak out so badly. My heart was still pounding ten minutes later.

Re: What are you currently doing?
Aww. I don't think it's very similar. The thing that is similar is the ruching or whatever you call it going vertically through the top. Once it hits the bottom of the breast, the dress is wrapped with horizontal ruching. Now that I'm staring at the two dresses side by side, I'm wondering if maybe something like that dress it could be cut at the cleavage to become like the other dress. It wouldn't be difficult to find another piece of fabric to rap about the middle. I'm wonder how easy or how difficult it would be to attach sleeves... How far up is the belt-like part of the dress? Also, at what store did you buy it!
hahahah Yeah. Cockroaches are really horrible looking creatures. You've never seen a live cockroach before? Lucky you! I've seen too many, and it's been through no fault of my own. I'm just glad I haven't seen one up close in years.

Re: What are you currently doing?
I bought it from Dress Barn, and the belt-like part is a few inches above the halfway point on the dress. The dress itself goes down just a little ways past the bottom of the picture. And as for sleeves, I don't think it'd be too hard. I'd say you'd just need the fabric to be wider at the top, where it reaches the body of the dress, and it'd get narrower as the sleeve got longer.

Re: What are you currently doing?
Oh. I've never heard of Dress Barn. They probably don't have one in Iowa City, Ottumwa, or Burlington. Those are the nearest bigger cities. Damn small-town Iowa...
I would need the belt part to be right around where my hipbones are, but if the belted part of the dress was to be removed, it could be covered by the horizontal piece of fabric, and a new belty-thing could be added at the hips. If the shoulders didn't end up being perfect, the cloak is going to cover them anyway, so yeah... However, it would be best to get the shoulders as near perfect as possible, considering I would probably do photoshoots in the warmer months without the cloak. Hrm...
I'm no seamstress, but I have a friend who is really good at altering things. She can take something and turn it into something else completely different and sometimes better.
I'm not sure how busy she'll be with making her wedding clothes, though. She's making the bridal dress and the bridesmaids' dresses. They're going to be our gift from her because it's traditional for a bride to give her bridesmaids gifts apparently. The dresses are really cute, though, and they can be worn during regular days, too. The only issue was the colour, and only because of me.
Amelia's a redhead, so green's always going to be fabulous on her. Jossy's darker complected, so every colour seems to look fabulous on her. My hair is so light that most greens reflect off my hair, and they sometimes make my skin look sickly. ._. We put the fabric she'll be using up to my face and hair, though, and Amelia ((the fashionista among us)) agreed that it looked good.
Anyway, if she can't alter anything ((if I find anything to alter)), I'm sure my grandmother could, as she has made my last two costumes.

Is just waking up and now I must get up and waddle through another day of packing...
Roaches....I may not fear them but they disgust the hell outta me. And I live in LA where there are tons of the little bastards. And they just won't die!! ahhh! And out mosquitoes are mutants according to my wife. Apparently they are little dots that just kinda hover. Here they are like the ones you see on the news with long bodies and stick legs. But what the news doesn't tell you is that they can get as big as a god damn golf ball, body only. Counting the legs the can get as big as baseballs. Yeah....you know when one's landed on you because you can feel the motherfucker land on your arm.

Ewww, that freaks me out, Squall! Ughhhh... *shudders* That's just nasty! I didn't realize they were so common in LA.
Re: What are you currently doing?
Well see before people got here, LA was a desert. And once people DID get here, they of course needed water. Then they invented pools, and then they invented not cleaning pools. And puddles, and the LA "river". Which means LA is a warm and thanks to the water humid climate for both the mosquitoes and roaches to spawn in. Granted you may not see many in Hollywood homes, but in East LA. Forget about it...

Taking the day off, cooking and watching the Spain v. US soccer game. I think we all know whose gonna win that one.

Has to admit he just yelled when the US team scored the first goal against Spain. Granted Spain will probably still come back and win, because they've done it several times already this year, but god damn it US scored against SPAIN!

Re: What are you currently doing?
I'd take out Capdevilla and stick in Marchena, throw in Busquets for Alonso and see what happens. I think Busquets is a better pick to take on the likes of Altidore.
It was nice to see that we won't be complete duffers and let them go unscathed, unlike all their other opponents in this competition.

Holy shit. I wasn't prepared for that. That was an unbelievable game. Much as I love the Spanish players, the US outmuscled them.

I'm watching Fruits Basket. I'm playing through the episode in English, but honestly, I'm not enjoying it in English or Japanese (which is a huge shocker for me). In fact, I'm not enjoying the animation either, but... I just finished with the manga, and it practically moved me to tears at the end, and I want to see if the anime will have as much of an effect...
