[Pokemon] I Wanna Be The Very Best! [OOC]
- TRAINER ROSTER:
-[Nation]
Name: Mark Silversteel
Age: 20
Gender: Male
Specialty: Flying/Mixed-Type Pokemon.
Appearance:
Personality: A birdcatcher from Fuchsia, Mark Silversteel always longed for the thrill the open sky brought. The sky represented freedom to him and so Mark built naturally gravitated towards the most liberated of Pokemon - the flying Pokemon. Already a novice Pokemon trainer, Mark was not determined enough to accumulate any notoriety or Gym Badges on his previous foray into Kanto. He is extremely mischievous and values creativity and ingenuity above power or personal glory; he often plays pranks on the citizens of Cianwood City with the help of his Pokemon team. These are often harmless goofs, but once or twice he has gotten in legal trouble due to a prank gone awry. Mark does things simply for the "experience" of it. Due to his creativity and penchant for chaos, Mark equally loves Pokemon of Mixed types - Flying + a secondary-type Pokemon are his most wanted. "The more bizarre, the better." is Mark's motto.
Mark Silversteel has virtually no urge to become a renowned trainer and views those who do as self-centered and emotionally weak - the only reason Mark is setting out into the Pokeworld once more is not to hone his trainer skills, but to retrieve his father's prized Delibird. Mark's father runs the Johto Mail Delivery Service (JMDS) from Cianwood and his mother runs the Kanto Mail Delivery Service (KMDS) from Fuchsia City. With the help of his father's Delibird (and a few other transportation-inclined Pokemon) the mail service provides quick mail and package delivery for hundreds across the Kanto and Johto regions. It is from his parents that Mark Silversteel acquired his love of Pokemon who scour the sky and feels inclined to punish those who stole his father's Delibird and endangered the family business.
Starting Town: Cianwood City
POKEMON TEAM: Mantine (Water/Flying)
-[Silvan Arrow]
Name: Seiko Nakamura
Age: 17
Gender: Female
Specialty: Not particularly, but she tends to gravitate towards Fire Types
Appearance: Seiko stands about 5’6” and has a thin, petite frame. She’s not the most athletic person around because she was homeschooled and spent most of her time at home instead of playing sports with school kids. She has thin, light brown hair that hangs straight just below her chin and striking green eyes. She prefers to dress more girly in skirts, blousy tops, and sundresses. Her travel attire, however, consists of khaki shorts that come to her mid-thigh, a sea-foam green peasant top with white stitching around the neckline, and sneakers. She’ll obviously switch to jeans, long-sleeve shirts, and a jacket if the weather gets cold. Since she grew up in a warm coastal city and has very little body mass, she gets cold easily.
Personality:
Seiko was born in Vermilion City. Like many of the men in the city, her father worked as a sailor on a merchant vessel. Since his job forced him to be away for long periods of time, Seiko was raised mainly by her mother. She formed a very close with her mother, who taught her at home instead of sending her to school, and often missed her father. When she turned five, her father brought her a special present back from a voyage to Kanto, which was a pokeball containing a baby Growlithe. He knew Seiko spent a lot of time at home and wanted her to have a companion to protect her when he wasn’t around. Seiko and Growlithe, whom she named Gygax, bonded quickly and grew up together. Gygax went everywhere with Seiko and was always extremely protective. Because of her quiet nature, Seiko had trouble fitting in with the other children of the city, which was made even more difficult since she didn’t go to school with them. As a result, the other children often thought she was stuck-up and wouldn’t play with her. She managed to make one friend during her childhood, but she left when she turned ten to start a Pokemon journey. She invited Seiko to come with her, but Seiko knew it would grieve her mother to be alone and so stayed at home.
During the widespread use of Champion Pokeballs (prior to the Pokemon Purge), Seiko’s father received a promotion to a manager of a fleet of merchant ships, so he wouldn’t need to be gone all the time and could spend more time at home. When it became clear that Team Rocket had used the Champion Pokeballs to steal Pokemon, Seiko’s father retired from the merchant ship trade and took a manager position in Vermilion City overseeing construction. Fear held the city in its grip for months as trainers worried for the safety of their Pokemon, especially since Vermilion was such a major shipping center and saw so many people come and go. No one knew whom to trust. Eventually Seiko grew tired of living in fear and wanted to leave Vermilion City, see more places, and grow stronger with Gygax so they could protect themselves. While her parents were initially hesitant to let their only daughter leave home with Team Rocket still on the loose, they eventually gave her their blessing.
Overall, Seiko is a quiet, reserved girl. She left Vermilion City not to become the strongest Pokemon trainer but instead to gain more self-confidence as a person. She never really “left the nest” growing up, so now she hopes to form her own identity apart from just being the stay-at-home daughter. She is shy around new people because she doesn’t know what to say and fears saying the wrong thing. She is used to being alone with just Gygax for company and feels most confident when traveling and battling with her long-term partner.
Starting Town: Vermilion City
Starting Pokemon: Female Growlithe named Gygax
Gygax is the polar opposite of Seiko in terms of personality. Where Seiko is shy and reserved, Gygax is outgoing and not afraid to either show affection towards people she likes or growl at someone she doesn’t trust. She’s protective of Seiko, having grown up with her since they were both young, and often cuddles with her at nights when she gets cold. Gygax is still young and inexperienced in battle, but she’s tenacious and doesn’t give up easily.
Name: Kendrick Wattson
Age: 19
Gender: Male
Specialty: Ken has no particular preference.
Appearance: Ken isn’t the tallest guy around, only 5’8, but he’s in solid shape despite his apparent laziness. His auburn hair is messy in a curiously tidy way, and has proven time and time again it has no intention of ever actually settling down into any actual style. His eyes are faint blue, although they’re often hidden behind a pair of aviators. He travels in a light black zip-up hoodie, with a white interior, and typically wears a t-shirt of some sort underneath. He favours jeans to keep his legs from being scratched up on the road, and a pair of well worn black and white sneakers keep his feet comfy for those long trips. When the weather is bad, he’ll swap the t-shirt for a sweater and cover his head with a toque, but that’s about it.
Personality: Kendrick has spent most of his life in Fuchsia City, unless you ask his parents, who insist he’s spent most of his life wandering the nearby routes in search of Pokemon and anything else a young boy would consider exciting. There’s rarely been a day when he hasn’t had some scrape or bruise, and it’s a strange one when he isn’t sporting a bandage over some new injury. As he got older, his wanderings grew from brief to longer, and it wasn’t longer before he was spending days at a time out of the city, camping out with a lack of concern regarding his safety despite the more…savage mentality of Pokemon these days.
Worried, his parents managed to get him a poke ball, so he could catch a companion to keep him safe on those outings. He listened, and promptly caught himself his first, and to date only, Pokemon, a male Nidoran who he named Sledge. It was around this time Ken discovered battling, and his passion for it. He and Sledge spent their free time training and fighting anyone they could. He even tried to take on the Fuchsia gym leader, Janine. With only Sledge, he didn’t stand much of a chance, and Janine promptly and utterly stomped him. She however, provided the motivation for his personal journey. She told him how she aspired to one day better than her father, Koga, and just like she aspired to one day best him, he should do the same with her. Ken has taken this to heart, and has made besting Janine his personal goal. With this in mind, he’s heading out on his journey to beat the other gym leaders, and then come back for a rematch with the Fuchsia Gym Leader.
If one was to guess at first glance, they wouldn’t suspect Ken of being anything more than a lazy teenager. And that’s somewhat true. Ken approaches almost everything in his life with the same casual confidence, which gives him a rather laid back persona. He’s friendly to strangers, and isn’t above lending a hand to those in need. However, once Ken gets it into his head that you’re a trainer, things get…interesting.
At the prospect of battling, Ken pulls a near one eighty, like some just cranked the gas and put the pedal to the metal. He’s fast-talking, excited and near implacable until someone finally steps up to the plate and gives him a fight. As one might guess, Kendrick is a bit stubborn at times, and much prefers to solve things in the most straight forward way possible. It’s deceptive however, as he’s more than capable of thinking things through. He just prefers to do things the simplest way possible.
Starting Town: Fuchsia City
Starting Pokemon: Male Nidoran named Sledge
Sledge is much like his trainer, laid back until the prospect of a battle rears its head, in which case he takes Kendrick’s drive and amplifies it. Sledge is a natural battler, he and Ken work with each other wonderfully, seemingly not even needing to communicate when the battle lust gets into their heads. Sledge without Kendrick, however, is rather…slow, focusing purely on going offensively and head on, regardless of how well it‘s working. Ken is the only thing that can get the stubborn animal to do anything else.
- The Story:
- In a world corrupted by greed, Trainers from around the world still hold one relic from the past dear - catching and training Pokemon.
Unfortunately, due to Team Rocket's criminal activities, even this age-old tradition is in risk of disappearing. Set 26 years after Ash Ketchum and his longtime Rival Gary Oak journeyed on their quest to be the very best, Trainers still view the practice of capturing and training Pokemon as both tradition and a teenager's rite of passage. Due to technological advancement, Trainers typically start their foray into Pokemon in Fuchsia City or Vermilion City, if they are situated within the Kanto region. Alternatively, they begin in Cianwood City or Azalea Town if they are from Johto.
After the Kanto government declared Team Rocket enemies of the state, Team Rocket moved their headquarters into Johto and began plotting numerous schemes involving financial fraud and violence using and directed at Pokemon. However, approximately 8 years ago, Team Rocket began the corporate buyout and eventual takeover of Silph Co., the largest and most prominent manufacturer of Pokemon-related technology in the world. Although their crime is concentrated more so in Johto, Team Rocket's reach through Silph Co. in Kanto is ever-present.
In what would eventually be dubbed as The Pokemon Purge, Team Rocket, using their newly-established connections and influence within Silph Co., managed to steal thousands of Pokemon from unsuspecting Trainers and citizens alike. Pokemarts all over Johto and Kanto began selling Silph Co.'s new product: Champion Pokeballs - cheap to produce, extremely cheap to purchase and guaranteed to catch virtually any Pokemon without having to go through that inconvenient process of weakening the Pokemon first and then trying to catch it. For all intents and purposes, Team Rocket made Master Balls accessible to the average Joe. But there was a defect with the Champion Pokeballs; they would occasionally lock-up and Trainers would be unable to summon their Pokemon.Once members of the Elite 4 and various Gym Leaders were unable to recall their Pokemon, news of the defective Champion Pokeballs spread like wildfire. Under the guise of Silph Co., Team Rocket ordered a complete recall of every Champion Pokeball ever sold.
Trainers, Gym Leaders and virtually everyone within the two regions scrambled to the Silph Co. headquarters, stationed in both Goldenrod City and Cinnabar Island. The company promised they would correct the manufacturing issue and Trainers would be reunited with their Pokemon once said issue was resolved. The defective Champion Pokeballs were Team Rocket's true intention; they were now in possession of thousands of high-leveled and rare Pokemon. Team Rocket held the entire world by the throat.

[Pokemon Info]
Always refer to: http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Mantine_(Pok%C3%A9mon) if you need Pokemon-related help.
The Pokemon in this world are ferocious.
Long gone are the cuddly Pikachu, Pidgey and Marill. They've retreated underground, underwater and into the skies, where the likelihood of being caught by poachers is not as high. Team Rocket has ushered in the days of aggressive and savage Pokemon like the highly-territorial Houndour and Ursaring, who have been reported to attack travelers and trainers, who have unsuspectingly wandered into their hunting and breeding grounds.
- Spoiler:
Due to recent events that transpired, opportunists and con artists are quite literally hunting down Pokemon and selling them for exorbitant prices. Pokemon have become a rare novelty in this world to some degree. They are less precious than diamond, but more precious than gold, to give you an idea. They are incredibly expensive to buy and the people who capture them often neglect their "product" and so the Pokemon are weak and ill. Fortunately, there are those who have the wealth and are altruistic enough to purchase these Pokemon, nurse them back to satisfactory health and release them back in the wild.
Commercial overfishing and bird trapping has also destroyed habitats for water and flying Pokemon, in addition to reducing their population in the wild. Although the issue is not serious as it is for terrestrial land Pokemon, it is still of significant concern to Pokemon conservation and welfare groups.
However, these released animals grow bitter and become forcibly defensive should they feel threatened. The government and media has discouraged the practice of capturing Pokemon, but they have not placed any outright ban on it. Trainers would be well-advised to avoid wild Pokemon whenever possible and to know the risks. Pokemon Centers double as trainer clinics, thankfully. Just present your Trainer Card.
-Pokemon have lost much their innocence due to poachers, trapping, overfishing, financial opportunists and abusive trainers.
-All Pokemon begin at a metaphorical level 5 and have equal stats with every other Pokemon. In fact, they have no stats.
-Similar to the anime, all Pokemon know all of their Moves that they can learn by leveling from the day they are born. Refer to Bulbapedia for your Pokemon's starting moves. Alternatively, go to this link and replace the Pokemon name with your Pokemon: http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Mantine_(Pok%C3%A9mon)/Generation_II_learnset#By_leveling_up
-You may challenge any Pokemon or Trainer you run across to a Pokemon battle. This includes the other RPers as well (provided you're in the same general area as them.
-Pokemon hone their skills through battle. Pokemon "grow" and Evolve by beating Gym Leaders, Team Rocket scum, Trainers, and even wild Pokemon. in the IC and thus have the potential to Evolve/level rather quickly.
-If a TM is required in order to learn a move, your Pokemon is not going to have access to that move in this RP.
-HMs don't exist. It is assumed that all water Pokemon know how to Surf, all flying Pokemon know how to Fly, all ground Pokemon know how to Rock Smash and virtually all Pokemon know how to Cut.
- Pokemon Battles:
-YOU (the RPer) will be sometimes be thrust into an Encounter with a trainer/Pokemon/etc. and must RP your way out of it.
-You will be controlling your encounter and enemy's actions to some degree. The GM/Co-GM will also sometimes control the Wild Pokemon/Trainer/Gym. Having the GM controlling every single action of a Pokemon/Trainer encounter is unrealistic and frankly a lot of work. Golden Rule.
-Wild Pokemon/Trainer should be concise, swift and completed in 1-2 IC replies.
-Gym Battles/Elite 4 Battles/Battles between the RPers will generally take more turns (IC posts.)
[Transportation In The Pokeworld]
- KANTO/JOHTO GUIDE:
To get to another place in this RP, you (obviously) have to indicate you're headed in that direction or biking there in your IC post. You also (obviously) don't have to RP all of the extra fluff in between. If you're headed from City A to City B and nothing occurs, you don't have to RP the boring part or indicate that in your IC post. Let's keep things moving in this RP.
Due to a government safety initiative 26 years ago, all Trainers are given a free Bike and PokeGear to start their journey and ease transport. In recent history, Olivine City has become the transportation hub of both Johto and Kanto. Offering multiple means of transportation by both sea and land, Olivine City is now a bustling seaside metropolis of commuters, employees and fishermen. High-end businesses have set up shop in Olivine and commuters from all over transport between Kanto and Johto regularly. The Magnet Train takes about 20 minutes to travel between Olivine City and its destination, Celadon City.
Johto's former economic powerhouse, Goldenrod City, soon found itself relegated to a less-important version of Olivine. Financial opportunists took advantage of the 20 minute commute between the two formerly-separated cities and the largest economy in both regions is situated in Olivine City, with Celadon having similar significance. The two-way train connected the quiet Olivine with the already bustling Celadon and as a result, both cities grew more populated and became intertwined economically and culturally.
Saffron City is still the major financial center of Kanto due to Silph Co.'s presence in the central part of the city. The entrance to Silph Co. is highly-guarded by Team Rocket goons. The S.S. Tidal has been refurbished and is now docked at Vermilion City. The boat travels daily between Vermilion City, Cinnabar Island and Pallet Town.
Cinnabar Island was essentially destroyed by a volcanic eruption years ago, although the boom in Kanto’s economy has initiated a massive reconstruction project of the island. The island's Gym, headed by Blaine, and the Pokemon Laboratory have been rebuilt and updated with magma-proof fortifications. Research into Pokearchaeology, Pokebiology and Evolution is carried out extensively in the Pokemon Research Institute (formerly known as the Pokemon Lab.) Cinnabar has become somewhat of a floating fortress of science out at sea.
The Kanto and Johto Government is proud to offer these modes of mass transit:

====================
- Angry Birds!:
Location: JOHTO. Professor Elm's Lab, New Bark Town or Goldenrod City Radio Tower, Goldenrod City.
Talk to: Professor Elm
"Hello, are you there? Hello...can you hear me? Ok, good. This is Prof. Elm. We have a bit of a situation at the Goldenrod City Radio Tower. I'd handle it myself, but I'm barricading the laboratory from newbie trainers who are trying to break down the door to get a new Pokemon. The supply of Pokemon plummeted and the demand rose exponentially and couldn't keep up.
Nobody has access to Pokemon Trainers everywhere are unable to FLY with their Pokemon. Flying Pokemon have been rendered useless. The wild bird Pokemon have become extremely aggressive and FLYing is not safe. In addition, hordes of Skarmory and Crowbat have been attacking the Radio Tower during the day. Hoothoot flocks have been defecating on the Radio Tower and flying into the glass windows and flying shrapnel is harming the radio station workers. Do you think you could check it out in my stead? I have a hunch Team Rocket might be behind this..." - Prof. Elm
- Zapped Oh Noes!:
Location: KANTO. Professor Oak's Lab, Pallet Town or Vermilion City Gym or Power Plant
Talk to: Professor Oak (Pallet Town) or Lieutenant Surge (Vermilion City Gym.)
"Hello, are you there? Hello...can you hear me? Ok, good. This is Prof. Elm. We have a bit of a situation at the Power Plant on Kanto Route 10.The refurbished and updated Power Plant is already facing a problem. The Elekids and Magnemite have been siphoning energy from the Power Plant and consuming it. The Magnemite acquire a negative electrical charge and shock the Power Plant employees. Several employees had to be rushed to the infirmary after a Magnemite attack.
Voltorb swarms have been clustering around circuit boards and cables and altering the flow of energy throughout Kanto. Daily black-outs have been interrupting the life and power supply of Kanto citizens. The power in Saffron City has been down for 3 hours and the economy may fuck up if someone doesn't do something. Team Rocket via the Silph Corporation are stationed in Saffron. Could they be responsible?..."
- Limited Event: Mahogany Mealtime:
Location: JOHTO. Mahogany Town or Ecruteak City
Talk to: Pryce, Mahogany Town Gym or Morty, Ecruteak City Gym.
Slots: 0/1
This Event may only be accepted by 1 RPer and then it’s gone.
“Pokepoachers in Mahogany Town have increased their criminal activities recently. Colonies of Slowpoke are being captured for their Slowpoke Tails , which are considered a delicacy and luxury food. Farfetch’d have also been trapped and used in stews for the annual Johto Feast, which is only a week away.
But the most dire and unstable situation is that of the Stantler hunting. Although the Stantler have been known to ram unsuspecting traverlers and although they are naturally skittish and tend to flee in the presence of peoples, they are becoming more bold. Due to this, poachers have been hunting the Stantler for their heads, which are used as ornate decorations for the wealthy. Their regal “horns” are also used for medicinal purposes as a sleep aid and many Stantler have been trapped simply for their antlers. The Johto Feast is a vital event for the Johto economy, but at what cost? We can’t wait until these Pokemon are driven to extinction, but stopping the Johto Feast is not feasible either. If you can make it to Mahogany or Ecruteak, I’ll let you know how you can help. Please, it’s urgent!”
- Limited Event: Research Notes:
Location: KANTO. Pokemon Lab, Cinnabar Island.
Talk to: Dr. Fuji (Pokemon Research Institute.)
Slots: 0/1
This Event may only be accepted by 1 RPer and then it’s gone.
Cinnabar Island was essentially destroyed by a volcanic eruption years ago, although the boom in Kanto’s economy has initiated a massive reconstruction project of the island.
“Thank Mewtwo you picked up. This is Dr. Fuji of the Pokemon Research Institute. I was told by an associate of mine here at the Pokemon Lab in Cinnabar that you may be able to help. The scientists at the institute managed to salvage many of the documents prior to the volcanic eruption and we’ve rediscovered some research data that the Lab was working on years ago. Our findings are seemingly promising, but we need an extra hand to deal with some ruckus while we continue running experiments. That’s where you come in.
Our lab was previously in contact with Giovanni, the former head of Team Rocket and received a grant from the criminal enterprise. Although it’s not much, I’ll tell you everything I know about Team Rocket’s activities. The S.S. Tidal ferry service should be running on schedule from Vermilion City and Pallet Town. Hop a boat and get your ass over here A.S.A.P.!
=====================[Suspension of Disbelief]
0. Pokeballs are EXTREMELY rare due to recent events. Use them wisely.
1. Your Pokemon begin weak and by RPing eventually level and grow stronger. All Pokemon begin at Level 5 and have equal stats. In fact, they have no stats.
2. Gym Leaders and the Elite 4 were affected by The Pokemon Purge and have lost their once experienced Pokemon. They are now raising new Pokemon once more.
3. Gym Leaders/Elite 4 grow alongside the RPers. If your first Gym battle is Koga in Fuchsia City, he will be weaker than if you fight Koga as your 5th Gym Leader.
4. Due to Silph Co./Team Rocket's activities, transportation in the Pokeworld has been severely crippled and Trainers must walk/bike everywhere, although several sea-based modes of transportation such as boats are still available.
5. Kanto-pokemon (151 in all) can only be caught in Kanto. Johto-pokemon (100 in all) can only be caught in Johto. Don't overthink it.
6. If it didn't exist in Gen 1 or 2, it doesn't exist in this RP.
Rules:
Golden Rule: Use your imagination and have fun.
1. No Legendaries.
2. No Starters (including Pikachu/Eevee.)
3. No Evolved Pokemon. If a Pokemon has a pre-evolution which does not exist in Gen I/II, assume it doesn't exist. If a Pokemon skill didn't exist in Gen I/II, assume it doesn't exist.
4. No 3rd/4th/5th Gen Pokemon. Don't even ask.

Re: [Pokemon] I Wanna Be The Very Best! [OOC]
It looks like you've already got my CS posted, so I won't re-copy it here.
I'm interested in the Research Notes event. I was torn between Zapped Oh Noes and Research Notes, but I think the research one will fit Seiko's personality better.
I'm really excited about this RP! I like the amount of detail and structure you've put into the story world here, and I can't wait to get started!

-IC TOPIC IS UP: [IC] Topic
-I'm doing Angry Birds! for now.
-Roster updated.
-Guilty sent in his CS and was accepted. Choose an Event btw, Guilty.
-Many Sparrows is finishing up his CS too and I expect I'll have that by today.
-DreamlandDenizen you still need to PM me your CS or just post it here.
IC topic going up in a bit too.
And thanks Silvan , I don't know how many of you are familiar with the anime and manga, but I tried to make this RP a blend of the manga+anime+game. In terms of the world, it's more like the manga, but in terms of gameplay mechanics it borrowed only the essentials from the games, with a pinch of anime.
i'm also a bit OCD about organization.
I had someone interested in the RP first time I ran it, but they refused to do it unless I let in Gen 4 Pokemon (of which I'm completely ignorant.) I know next to nothing about the later generations. After the Johto series, I sort of tuned out from Pokemon. D:

Well, since I'm not heading to Johto yet, it shall be Zapped Oh Noes! Tie for me to put some electric types in their damn place. Ignoring the lightning rod attached to Sledge's head, that is...

I'm also fairly familiar with all three, anime, game and the manga. Interesting that you've chosen to hybrid them.

So sorry, I'm still working on my CS. I ended picking up a couple of shifts at work I wasn't expecting this week. Very sorry, but she should be complete, either today or tomorrow. Again, so sorry.

Re: [Pokemon] I Wanna Be The Very Best! [OOC]
~Here is my character. Please let me know if I need to change anything.
Character Sign-up Sheet:
Name: Kenneth (Ken) Silverdrake
Age: 18
Gender: Male
Specialty: Dragon
Appearance: Kenneth has brown hair with a reddish tint, the color of burgundy, that is cut short to the top of his neck. His eyes are a deep sea-blue and he is almost 6 ft tall. He is slight and skinny for his age, and especially for his height. He has some muscle tone, but much of it is underdeveloped. He likes to wear the colors white and blue, generally in the form of a t-shirt and shorts, even during the colder seasons. He also is rarely seen without a signature crimson cape, given to him by his Uncle.
Personality: Ken was raised in Blackthorn City, a member of the rather well known Dragon Master Clan. In fact, his Uncle is the legendary Lance himself, a member of the Elite Four and a prominent player in the thwarting of many of Team Rocket's former schemes. Despite the severity of his relatives, he grew up to be a rather quiet, thoughtful, yet playful child. This may have been partly due to his mother, who married into the family and did not adhere to their rigid values. She gave him ample time to play, chiding those who would have seen him train all day. His father followed the family tradition and was a decent Pokemon trainer in his own right. Though by the time Ken was five years old, his father had settled down to a quiet life and had taken a job at a Pokemon Center so that he could care for injured and sick Pokemon. Ken himself didn't choose to have a Pokemon at that time.
Not long after his father settled down, Ken was to experience a defining moment in his life, around 10 years of age. He had always been close to his Uncle Lance, and Team Rocket sought to exploit the perceived weakness by kidnapping him. Fortunately, his Uncle was able to rescue him, but ever since that moment he held a great fear and distrust of Team Rocket. Soon after this incident he was gifted with a Dratini by the Elder of the Dragon Master clan. He named the Dratini Rith and the two became inseparable friends. He resolved that someday he'd be as strong as his Uncle and that he would never be tricked by Team Rocket again.
Despite this, as he grew, Ken maintained an optimistic, some would say naive, view of the world. He believed that his Uncle and many of the other trainers had all but ended the threat of Team Rocket. He was completely wrong...He was suspicious of the new Champion Pokeballs, but since he had not yet decided to begin life as a Pokemon trainer in earnest, it hadn't effected him or his precious Rith and he didn't really think on it. When thousands of Pokemon were stolen, however, things began to change...Pokemon became less friendly and they appeared less often. Gone was the happy and peaceful world he had once lived in during his childhood. As a young man soon entering into adulthood, he resolved that he would do whatever it took with his beloved Rith to find a way to stop Team Rocket.
Starting Town: Cianwood
Starting Pokemon: Male Dratini named Rith
Rith has formed a deep attachment with Ken and as such doesn't really enjoy the company of others. He isn't openly hostile, but will wrap himself around Ken when scared or upset. In battle, however, he can be quite ferocious and very tenacious. It is rare that he lays down in defeat, striving to fight even when he knows he has lost the battle.

Re: [Pokemon] I Wanna Be The Very Best! [OOC]
Sorry I've been MIA as of late. I'm helping run a swing dance exchange this weekend, and it's pretty much taken on the feel of a full-time job. Luckily, it ends tonight, and I'll have more time this week to work on a post and catch up with life in general.
Quick question: Should our intro posts just be intros? Or should we dive straight into our chosen events?

Was there anything I needed to change in my bio? I didn't see him on the trainer roster so I wasn't sure if he was accepted.

Couldn't edit roster from my phone, but like I told you you're clear to post in the IC.
How was everyone's Memorial Day + weekend? I went to 4 different barbeques and I never want to have grilled food again.

~Awesome, thanks Nation! I wasn't sure if you were referring to me in that post or to Silvan Arrow. I'll have a post up soon, though probably not tonight. I think Ken will do the Mahogany Mealtime event if that's okay.

Hey guys, sorry for the long silence. GC and I have been working on a collab post, so that should be up within the next few days, if not sooner. I've been feeling under the weather with a virus, but never fear! The battles must go on!

I really want to join this one! It looks really well thought out. Nation seems to be out (?) so I'll wait until he's back to get the CS in but it looks fantastic!
