Synopsis

The year is 2210, two hundred years into the future. Until the mid 22nd century, governments and ordinary people alike around the world denied the existence of vampires, werewolves, and “creatures of the night.” Though, admittedly, their numbers diminished greatly around the industrial revolution, and both species nearly went extinct in the twentieth century, these ancient beings have been steadily repopulating the world since then.

Feuds over territory and otherwise bad blood between the two species caused the infamous war with one another thousands of years ago, when they reigned over much of the world openly. Remnants of this ongoing strife still exist to this day, though much of the reasoning behind it has been long forgotten. Vampire clans formed to counter the powerful lycanthrope packs spreading exponentially. Soon, it was impossible for governments to deny or hide the truth of these feared creatures, as sightings were becoming a regular occurrence, and gruesome maulings or neck bites were steadily getting to be all-too-common causes of death.

In 2145, the President of the United States made a public announcement concerning not only the existence of vampires and lycans (as they had come to be called), but the worldwide threat they presented. To combat these hostile rivaling creatures, which the ordinary man all too often became a casualty to or otherwise was forced to join one of the two sides, top engineers and scientists from all around the world cooperating together, completely funded by their countries, worked to build some of the most technologically impressive robots the world has seen. Considering the amount of androids and bots working and coexisting with humanity today and in constant production, being manufactured in over 50 countries, these new automatons are viewed as nothing less than the future of robotic technology. Programmed to respond directly to the ever-growing vampire and lycan menace, these formidable, brutal, and merciless humanoid automatons have but one mission: purge the world of any threat of vampires and lycans.

Much to the horror and surprise of humanity, over the years these robotic half-breed hunters have been released on their annihilation operation, they, being the greatest pieces of technology, have “evolved,” in a sense, to extend their function beyond their given implication. Able to problem solve as a basic form of their intellect, these automatons, soon referred to simply as “Night Soldiers,” came to the principal conclusion that, in order to prevent vampires or lycans from ever existing and spreading across the Earth, human beings must be completely wiped from the planet. Logically and realistically, this is the most sure-fire way the Soldiers realized they could carry out their programming to full completion. Thus began the long-anticipated cybernetic/organic war known as The War Against Night. Not only were vampires and lycans being hunted by the ruthless Night Soldiers, but now everyday people, civilians and the military alike, were all being targeted and attacked. A blood bath quickly flooded the nations, as more and more automatons wirelessly spread their logical and extinction-inevitable idea. Humanity had created their greatest and most powerful weapon in history, and now it had turned against them.

It very rapidly became clear that vampires and lycans would need to set aside whatever petty differences they had in order to concentrate on combating the Night Soldiers. Once the Night Soldiers turned against people though, it was almost comical and ironic at first, until years of their bloody slaughtering carried on, and vampires and lycans were forced to witness the deaths of people that they never imagined being killed, even by their own kind – family, friends, loved ones, children… No longer were they even able to sit by and mock the humans for the problem they themselves were responsible for. It was becoming ever clearer that, if something weren’t done soon, all human life would be wiped from the Earth in a matter of time.

Deciding it wise to put aside their pride and their hatred, the lycans and vampires stood against the Night Soldiers as humanity’s best line of defense. Today, in 2210, all satire aside, vampires, lycans, and humans all must work together if they want to stand any chance against the greatest threat that they have ever had to face.

Vampires

The first original vampire, infamously known as Dracula, was bitten by a vampire bat which sucked his blood as he slept. When the Count awoke the next morning, he had come to find out that the wound the vampire bat left grew infected and began mutating him. He soon hungered for blood and only blood, and those he bit that he did not drain completely turned into blood-fiends like himself. Within time, vampires began to spread.

Vampires are defined as humans that have had their necks bitten and their blood drained, only to be transformed into the very creature that bit them (if they survive the process). They look identical to humans, aside from their sharp and pointy fangs.

In contrast to common belief, garlic does not ward off vampires. This is an old wives tale. (Rather, there was a single case in eastern Europe in the eighteenth century where a maidservant had been disposing of old, uneaten food, and mixed in with these scraps was a large amount of old garlic. A vampire had seen her, alone and unprotected, as he prowled the alleyways at night, but as he attempted to approach her to feed from the servant, the immense foul stench of the garlic warded him off.) Other inaccurate legends surrounding vampires include being undead, as all vampires are truly alive, but simply do not have the same instincts or needs as other living creatures. They also are quite unable to transform into bats. Vampires are immortal, meaning they cannot age or die of old age, but they can be killed. A wooden stake to the heart has proven to do the trick. Additionally, they are able to see their reflections in mirrors, but because mirrors often reflect light, and vampires are harmed by sunlight, mirrors are typically seen as hazardous to have, especially as large wall-pieces. As stated, vampires and sunlight do not mix. Indirect sunlight, such as filtered sunlight, can be harmful, creating almost instant sunburns. Direct sunlight can be lethal. Because of a fatal flaw in their mutation, which has affected all their organs, including of course their skin, all vampires are strictly allergic to UV light. Crosses and other such religious artifacts have no affect against vampires, but a beheading or otherwise slicing up of the entire body will result in permanent death.

Vampires that have lived for many hundreds of years, if not thousands, are referred to as ancients. They are the most feared, as they are the most powerful and the most evolved. Their mutation, which causes them to evolve at a much more radical pace, can change these vampires drastically enough to be hardly even recognizable to how they once had been as humans. Most ancients possess leathery wings for flight, and many also have claw-like hands and feet. They commonly also possess athletic, natural muscles, which provides them with extra strength, though they are almost always fit and lightweight for agility and nimbleness, which they are best known for. Some develop visible, pulsing veins throughout their bodies, long, pointy ears for better hearing, and large pupils for night-hunting ease.

Werewolves/Lycanthropes

The initial lycan was created when a rabid lone wolf, driven mad by its disease and starvation, attacked a villager in northern Europe during a full moon. The man collapsed, nearly having been killed by the mauling, but when he awoke, he was no longer himself, in body or in mind. He had become part man, part wolf, operating only on instinct and a powerful desire to hunt. Whenever he attacked a person and left them alive, they too would become infected with the condition, and so the trend would carry on.

Newly created lycans are only able to transform under a full moon, and they lose all their rational thoughts and their human mind and become a pure wolf. They are not in any form of control. As lycans age however, they eventually learn to adapt and adjust to their transformations. Around the time they become ‘adults,’ they are able to fully control when and where they transform, and they also have some degree of control over themselves, if not full control. Aged lycans never lose their human minds when under transformation and can even change into their wolf forms much more quickly and painlessly.

Like vampires, they are much more powerful than humans, but lycans are strong only when they are transformed. There are pros and cons to lycans, in that, when transformed, they are typically much more powerful than vampires, but they are far slower and less agile, and once again, they are only strong when in their wolf forms, whereas vampires are powerful and possess all their improved senses at all times. Additionally, lycans are deathly allergic to silver. Ingesting silver or having silver penetrate the body in any way will cause a lycan, whether transformed or not, to eventually die if the silver is not removed in time. Simply touching silver can cause serious rashes.

Lycans, like vampires, are immortal, meaning they cannot age or die of old age, but they still can be killed by selective means. Silver, as mentioned, is one way of killing a lycan. Beheading is another, as is the complete dismemberment of limbs and body parts. Religious artifacts hold no power over lycans, but the cry of a fellow lycan will beckon other lycans, whether they belong to the same pack or not. Being social creatures, lycans depend and rely heavily on each other, and it is in their instincts to protect one another. Therefore, it isn’t at all uncommon for men to have captured and wounded a lycan and left it chained and in agony as bait to lure in more of its kind to slay.

Ancient lycans, not unlike ancient vampires, usually evolve to appear much different than their original human selves. In their human forms, their eyes may look more like wolf eyes, if they’re male, they may grow more hair, their ears may grow pointier, and their nails become hard and tend to grow faster to resemble claws. In their wolf forms, other variations can be seen. They are much larger and far more muscular than they appeared as an adolescent wolf. Some select ancients even look entirely like a massive wolf rather than a half-wolf, half-human, walking completely on all fours and boasting a tail, unlike regular transformed lycans.

There isn't going to be a limit to how many people can join this RP, as I've had great luck in the past with large role-plays. The werewolves and vampires in this role-play are my own interpretation and may vary from how you could depict them. Please be aware of the differences. You can role-play as vampires, lycans, humans (fodder, slayers, cops, etc?), or even one of the automatons (Night Soldiers). You can role-play as many characters as you want/can handle. The main setting will take place in Phoenix, Arizona.

It is fitted with an internal chronometer.

The TAU-630's optical sensors can sample an extended range of visible frequencies, including infrared, ultra violet, and night vision, as well as long range snap-magnifaction of up to x15. This information is then displayed on a 40,000 bit digitized display. The TAU-630 is capable of motion tracking, search modes, facial identification and recognition and motion analysis. All Night Soldiers use a Laser-com relay to uplink to orbiting satellites providing a constant data stream between units.

Victor was born in the Seattle, Washington. He grew up in a rather modest home and had a modest life. He grew up, went to school, fell in love, got married, had children and then this whole happy modest life came crashing down around him. A vampire came to him one night as he came home. One who thought it would be an interesting experiment to see what a man of such modest living would become if transformed into such an fascinating creature.

Victor refused to give in to the turningand tried to resume a normal life. The result: going nearly hungry for blood and the massacre of his family. Victor fell into madness for years. Finally his sire came to him as he was living off of the homeless and rats. Offering him a chance to join the clan and regain his sanity. Victor, having nothing to lose, accepted and discovered he has something extraordinary about him. Using his intelligence, reason and a
ability to adapt; Victor survived and gathered knowledge.

Victors reputation grew among the clans and one of the most out spoken critics of the dangerous shift away from secrecy. History has proven him wiser. But not without a price, though his clan was one of the more secretive
of the clans, they were still discovered by the Night. All were killed except for Victor, ever the survivor. Since that time he has once gain begun to lose a grip on his hard fought for sanity. He remains a lone wolf among the vampires and blames all others for the position the world finds itself in.

Human Appearance:

Due to his age, Cian’s eyes have permanently shifted from their natural blue to a sort of pale grayish-yellow. His ears are also rather pointy, but they’re rarely visible through his curly reddish-blond hair, which he keeps shaggy and long enough to hide them, and if he’s grown some more body hair as he aged well he never had much to begin with, so it isn’t terribly noticeable. Cian added Celtic knotwork tattoos along his right arm back in the early 21st century.

Lycan Appearance:

Cian’s fur is the same reddish-gold as his human hair and since becoming an ancient his transformed shape has been slowly becoming more and more wolf-like, especially the tail.

Biography: Cian grew up during troubled times in Ireland, with his nation brutally conquered by Cromwellian forces. Cian fought for his country as a young man—barely more than a boy. He even participated in guerilla warfare against Cromwell’s forces after the organized resistance had failed. It was during this time, sneaking through the countryside picking off British soldiers, that Cian was attacked by a lycan, although he was able to fend off the attack enough so that he survived. Although Cian was soon adopted into a local pack, Ireland was still a dangerous place considering Cromwell was also dedicated to exterminating wolves in Ireland, and many of the English hunters who came to the island were familiar with werewolves. Even though natural Irish wolves were nearly extinct by the turn of the century, Cian’s pack managed to survive, albeit with great difficulty. However, their kills were much harder to cover up with so few natural predators on the island, and by the middle of the 18th century Cian and several others made the decision to move to the New World.

Cian, with his lingering hatred of the British, fought in the American Revolution and the war of 1812, both as a wolf and a man. He drifted in and out of several different packs over the years, exploring much of North America in the process before travelling back to Ireland and continental Europe for several decades. The Industrial Revolution and the rapid advances of the 20th century drove Cian back to the wildernesses of western North America, but ultimately it gave him less trouble than many of his kind since he was typically on his own and spent both his human life and his first decades as a lycan in a hostile, violent world where hiding his presence had been essential to his survival. He spent most of that century and the next keeping his head down and living on the fringes of human society until 2079 when the urge to settle down came over him. He eventually chose the area around Phoenix, Arizona as his territory, believing the harsh deserts, nearby mountains, and many parks and designated wilderness areas would ensure he had plenty of space to run and hunt. Since then Cian has been largely content to remain on his territory, hunting and spending time with his packmates. When his species was officially outed to the general populace, Cian made sure to minimize his presence around Phoenix and encouraged his fellow lycans to do the same. With the creation of the Night Soldiers, Cian pulled away from the city itself and into the desert and hills, but when the abominations turned on their creators he felt compelled to be drawn back into affairs where his long experience with guerilla warfare could be of use.

Personality: For an ancient, Cian is surprisingly laid back and jovial, to the point where many of his enemies don’t take him seriously, which is often their last mistake, because while he may crack bad jokes and flirt shamelessly with any female in sight he’s a survivor to his core who’s never shied away from getting his hands dirty or cheating to ensure his own survival or that of the people he cares for. However, he does have one hell of a temper beneath his normal
good cheer and general joie de vivre, and when his Irish is up chances are things are going to get very bloody.

Other: While his first preference is to fight his enemies as a wolf, Cian is not above using any tactics or weapons necessary to get the job done. Also, to this day you should not mention Oliver Cromwell to him or he will beat the shit out of you.

Biography: Lucas and Hailey were fraternal twins, and have always had that eerie bond twins always seem to share. Their parents divorced shortly after they were born, with their father taking custody of the two whilst their mother received most of the family belongings. Raised by their military father, Hailey grew into a tomboy; sharp, and sarcastic, even as a child, she was a difficult girl to get along with, and more than once she found herself angering her peers and picking fights she couldn’t handle. This was where Lucas came in. Lucas rarely ever spoke, his friends so few he could count them on one hand, but when one threatened Hailey, the animal inside the silent boy would emerge. He lashed out at anyone who threatened his sister and on some occasions breaking bones if someone proved to be unrelenting. This violent streak was a major source of concern, and their father enrolled him into Cadets in an attempt to try and curb Lucas’s vicious sense of protection for his sister. The two would see less and less of each other as Lucas was forced to spend more and more time on exercises and training.

Without each other around, the two grew distinctly different, but still their bond would persist through the separation. Lucas dropped out his junior year, knowing full well he had little chance of doing something more productive with his life, content to serve in the military as their father had once he was old enough to enlist. Whilst her grades were far from stellar, Hailey had a much brighter future ahead of her, graduating well above average and with acceptance into a local college all but assured. Two weeks after she had, Hailey and Lucas received word on their father.

Causality in the ever worsening war against the Night Soldiers. It was a sobering moment, and for hours, Hailey simply cried into her brother’s shoulder, wordlessly begging him to reconsider, to forget his damn idea of enlisting. Lucas relented, but the two were stuck with no source of income, and what little money they had received from the military wouldn’t last them long. They sold the family house, before renting a meagre apartment not far from the ruins on the outskirts of Phoenix. The twins have spent their lives so far simply trying to scrap together enough money to survive, Lucas working odd security jobs here and there, whilst Hailey works the glamorous life of a barista at Starbucks. The war is worsening all around them, and many a night the screams of battle echo just outside their home, robbing Hailey of sleep and keeping Lucas on the highest alert.
Personality: The ‘older’ Dougan, Hailey is a gruff girl with a hot head and a temper that wouldn’t be out of place in a bull. She’s incredibly slow to praise, but damn well expects to get it for even the slightest accomplishment, and if one actually manages to impress her, one would be hard pressed to figure it out. She appreciates being the center of attention, and loathes having to share the spotlight with anyone, even her own brother. For all her kicking and screaming however, she is mostly harmless and is a terrible coward; ducking out of conflict the second it rears it’s head to bite her in the ass.

Lucas is the opposite of his sister, perpetually quiet, to the point where most people simply assume he’s a mute. Possessed by a seemingly endless calm, he rarely walks faster than a casual stride, and his few words are spoken with a maturity he likely shouldn’t have. Incredibly anti-social, Lucas is prone to blatantly ignoring people, or sending them away with a share look from his harsh eyes. When threatened himself, Lucas rarely breaks his calm visage, but if one is ballsy enough to threaten his sister, Lucas reveals that there is far more than shyness lurking underneath his skeletal hood. Brutal and unrelenting, he’ll use every bit of combat training and knowledge he possesses to end the threat, permanently and regardless of his own well being in the situation. Some of Hailey’s friends go as far as calling Lucas her “Guard-dog from Hell.”, and the ‘younger’ sibling seems to enjoy the wariness the nickname creates.
Other: Lucas has received years of firearm training during his time in the cadets and security work, and has a natural talent for things of a violent nature, allowing him to handle most basic combat situations with little difficulty. Hailey, on the other hand, can barely hold a gun straight, much less aim it or even process the though of hurting or killing another living being.

Family: Long dead. After Morty’s transformation, he ran his county for awhile, but later fled after accusations of vampirism.

Bio: In 1710, a boy named Mortenai Denary was born to the Duke of Somerset, an aristocrat from a small county in north-western England near Wales. He was raised as any aristocrat would; manners matter. He lived his life quietly, being the fifth child, hence not eligible for the title and power that his family had to offer. This, however, was not what he wanted. He did not want to live a life of quiet subordination. He wanted that title and power badly and he was determined to get it.

One day, while strolling in the counties village, he fell upon a dark alley way where a mysterious man stood. The man promised him eternal life and power if only Morty could get closer to him and accept his ‘gift’. This immediately sent out bells and whistles in the head of the young man, but his curiosity got the better of him. He finally got closer to the mysterious man; the man then whispered something Morty would never forget: “So young and reckless, you will make a fine specimen. With this power, you will be able Duke, then onwards to become King of England, perhaps eventually of the British Isles and then the entirety of Europe!” This created an immense amount of excitement in Morty’s heart which led to his full confidence in the mysterious man. It did not take long for the deed to be done.

Needless to say, Mortenai used his power cruelly and discreetly. He reigned many years over his county until allegations of vampirism made him flee to escape capture by the notorious Inquisition. He then chose to move to one place where he would never be found: the thirteen colonies. Or so he hoped.

In the thirteen colonies he had an ample amount of freedom to feed at will, all while maintaining the facet of an aristocrat to keep sceptics at bay. There was plenty of game and there was no centralized police force to track him down or connect the dots. It was heaven on earth.

The years passed and Morty moved from one city to another, finally reaching Arizona where the general lawlessness and ability to pass off discarded food as just another murder kept him there indefinitely. It was then that the entire notion of war on the creatures of Night started. It was there that he let many vampires stay at his spacious town house and use it as an HQ. It was then that he finally learnt that there were others like him. And that felt good... Somewhat.

Personality: Mortenai can be very polite, convincing and charming, as he can be creepy and sadistic. He can be disconcertingly cold and distant. Hundreds of years of running and self-concealment can do that to someone. He is one of the better-mannered people left in this fast degenerating world. In fact, Mortenai has the easiest recognizable traits available to vampires in this uncouth world. That is traits of exquisite literacy, articulation and mannerism. He is strongly opinionated and lets the other vampires know of his stance and is usually heard because of his age, if anything else. He fervently urges that vampires set aside, permanently, hostilities with the lycans, form an alliance to achieve the ability to live together and destroy these menace of the Night Stalkers.

Parker is quite petite and a little sensitive about her height. She also has piercings in her belly button and tongue.

Lycan Appearance:

Since Parker has only been a werewolf for ten years, her transformations are still fairly humanoid. She grows black hair all over her body and her fingers lengthen as her nails turn into claws. Her ears lengthen and her face lengthens somewhat as she grows fangs. She also grows about eight inches taller, which she really likes. Her piercings follow her through her transformations unless she specifically takes them out beforehand.


Biography: Parker was a happy, pink and ponies loving little girl who wanted to grow up to be a princess for years after most little girls abandon such dreams. Parker never wanted for anything growing up (including ponies) thanks to her family’s wealth, which stemmed from defense contracts since her mother was one of the engineers who helped design and produce several generations of the Night Soldiers.

In school Parker was always a social butterfly with a wide circle of friends. As she grew older she was always one of the popular crowd, pretty and flirty and confident, and just a little bit of a bitch. She had been quite the heartbreaker as a teen, going through boyfriends by the baker’s dozen until she came out of the closet at sixteen. She then proceeded to blaze through girlfriends at an equally fast rate. Parker was quite the partier, using her family money to get into all of the best parties and clubs even when she was underage.

Parker was at a nightclub in Phoenix one unfortunate evening when a few of the local werewolves were also there. Their presence caused an attack by the Night Soldiers. The robots destroyed the building in their quest to kill the lycans, which they achieved, killing fourteen humans as well. Parker was almost the fifteenth victim, but as she lay dying in the wreckage, she was found by Cian and a few other lycans, who had come in search of their deceased packmates. Parker managed to beg for help before passing out and feeling pity, Cian infected and turned the unconscious girl to save her life.

Whe Parker awoke, she was terrified and furious over what had happened. She was not happy about how Cian had saved her life and the two did not get along well, although Parker was forced to stay with him and the others in order to survive and learn how to control herself and her new powers, especially since her mother was killed during the initial uprisings of the Night Soldiers.


Personality: Parker has always been a little bit of a spoiled bitch. She grew up in luxury and became very accustomed to it. She can also be very friendly and charismatic, the absolute life of any party or social gathering. She loves to be the center of attention and can be rather selfish. Since becoming a lycan her bitchy streak has developed a bit of a sharper edge and she tends to be outspoken and blunt to the point of being offensive. She hasn’t really made any friends as a lycan, and even though she’s dependent on Cian as her teacher and protector, their relationship is largely antagonistic and she’s one of the few people who can easily get on his nerves. Despite the princess face she shows to the world, spending her formative lycan years in a universal warzone has given her a genuine tough streak, although if she starts showing it you can be certain the shit has really hit the fan.
