The Stars Unveiled Empty City of Heroes: Reincarnation

Post by Lumeus Sun Aug 15, 2010 6:10 am

Pulse

Name: Classified
Age 26
Alias: Cade Lawrence/ Pulse
Organization: Military
Power(s):

Biologically engineered to have faster reflexes, better eyesight, denser bones, and tougher muscle tissue. Though this gives him an advantage over the common civilian, these enhancements are nowhere near the caliber of someone who has been labeled as having “super powers”. His true power comes from his suit.

The Mark I

The suit's armor is made from a Molybdenum Titanium Alloy capable of withstanding temperatures of up to 2,623˚C, as well as sustaining severe amounts of outside trauma while still maintaining structural integrity. A Micro-Fusion Core powers the suit with backup cells on each hip, and as an extra precaution, the suit can convert solar energy into stored electrical energy for later use. Copper wire mesh runs all along the suit between the shock plating and support frame, which prevents an electrical surge from shorting out, or interfering with the on-board computer and A.I. Any conducted electricity is rerouted to the backup cells for storage. Primary thrusters are located on the boots and stabilizing thrusters are located on the upper back, giving the suit flight capabilities. The suit is pressure sealed, allowing for limited underwater use and space flight. The cooling system is located between the stabilizing thrusters and the shock plating, and distributes the liquid hydrogen throughout the rest of the suit. The suit uses a polarized, light-sensitive visor with a tint that automatically adjusts to the level of available light. Night-vision, Thermal-Imaging and Ultra-violet spectrum are available at a voice command. The automatic polarizing and anti-flash blinding lenses protect the pilot against intense glare and provide the pilot with enhanced combat vision or "Holographic Vision Processors" (which allows vision through many barriers such as smoke, darkness, fire, and even, with the linking of sensors and a satellite feed, through walls).

Retractable pulse cannons are concealed in each forearm, and have a 0.5 second delay between each use. Two more pulse cannons are concealed in the back above each shoulder blade, and when deployed, have a 270-degree arc with a 360-degree rotation. The neon blue plasma bolts are contained by a magnetic confinement bottle that allows the plasma to travel a distance of over two-hundred yards without blooming. The suit is capable of lifting up to 90 tons but the continued lift of that much weight is considerably draining on the suits energy supply. Speakers located on the helmet are capable of generating sonic resonating frequencies of varying pitch and volume, capable of shattering glass and even causing vertigo, and/or permanent hearing lose.

The suit is linked with two A.I. systems, one existing in the suit named EVE 6, and the other residing in an orbiting satellite, named ADAM 7. Eve is used for combat and Adam is used for tactical support. This allows for a faster and smoother connection between the suit, satellite, and HQ. This way, the suit is updated with new data concerning geographical locations, weather patterns, mission targets, and laser comm. relays in fractions of a second. With Satellite imaging and inferred scanning, ADAM is able to track any movement within a ten-mile radius of the suit and display that information on the helmets Holo-HUD. Adam monitors all of the suit's functions as well as the vital signs of the pilot. Eve operates the suit's targeting system, making firing calculations extremely fast and accurate.

Appearance:

Cade is 6'0 and weighs 185 lbs. In the suit, he is 6'6 and weighs around 700 lbs. The suit is gunmetal black and coated in a thin polymer that reduces the glare from reflected light sources.

Spoiler:

History:

Two years before The Clash, Cade and several of his closest friends went to a local pub. Needless to say, alcohol was involved and when Cade awoke the next morning, he came to discover that he had signed up to join the United States Army Special Forces the night before. Forty-eight hours later, he found himself on an airplane headed for Basic Training in Fort Benning, Georgia. Seven months later, Cade graduated from Basic along with sixty-one of the initial 214 recruits. Of those sixty-two graduates, only fifteen of them passed the month long Assessment and Selection process; Cade was among them. Cade and three of his fellow graduates spent the next eight months training to become SF Weapons Sergeants. After completing the course, Cade spent the next two months learning Japanese and finally, after eighteen months of solid training, Cade completed the Robin Sage training exercise in Fort Bragg, North Carolina and was awarded the Special Forces tab and his Green Beret.

In the last six months leading up to The Clash, tension began to build between the U.S. Government and civilians that displayed super human abilities. Crime was at an all-time high, and the country’s Top Brass began to fear that they would reach a point where they would be unable to stop some super powered "freak" from doing whatever they pleased, and so, in secret, they began work on an experimental procedure. One that would allow them to create their own super powered weapon as a counter-measure for the impending "Hero" crises.

Since day one in Basic, Cade had always had a knack for weapons: guns, missiles, and grenades, even the experimental weapons. He had long since become extremely proficient with firearms and was in the process of joining the Weapons Research and Development team when “The Clash” occured. Cade's mother, like so many other New Yorkers, was killed in the ensuing conflict. Cade's sorrow and frustration quickly turned to anger, and when word came down for Weapons Development to begin construction on a new prototype weapon, Cade volunteered to use himself as a test subject. Once he was accepted, Cade's true identity was erased. All official records were modified and he was given the name Cade Lawrence.

Unfortunately for Cade, the process of preparing his body to pilot the suit was grueling and at times borderline torture. Cade's bone and muscles tissue were enhanced along with extensive surgeries to re-enforce his spinal column. His reflexes were increased and his eyesight was sharpened. Once again, Cade beat the odds, and out of the forty-eight volunteers, Cade was the sole survivor. Six months later, Cade was released from the hospital and was immediately taken to begin his new training.

Cade knew the suit was his the moment he laid eyes on it. Like it had been built specifically for him, and in fact, it had. The suit had been through several test trials but none of the previous pilots had been able to use the suit to its full potential. Cade spent weeks training in the suit until the Brass was satisfied that he was ready. Cade spent the next two years carrying out the orders of his superiors, which usually involved the arrest of super powered targets that had been identified as threats to national security. If the situation required Cade’s involvement it meant that conventional methods had failed. Collateral damage is practically a given on Cade’s assignments.

The Stars Unveiled Empty Seven

Post by Lumeus Sun Aug 15, 2010 6:19 am

Jacksen Keller

The Stars Unveiled Blind1

Name: Jacksen Ryan Keller
Nickname: Jack
Age: 16
Gender: Male
Power: The Voice of the Messenger - This ability can confuse an enemy with words, persuade humans to obey whatever command is given to them, and produce sonic waves of sound that can vary in pitch, tone, and frequency.

Background: Jack was blind from day one. He was loved unconditionally by both his parents and their patience with him was nothing short of saintly. Their patience with one another, however, grew thinner as the years passed, and Jack's special needs were a financial burden that only added fuel to their daily arguments. Jack's parents separated when he was seven. He blamed himself. Jack chose to live with his mother and was home schooled by a private tutor. Jack never had anyone he considered a friend. Playing with other disabled children only served as a reminder that he couldn't play with normal kids, so Jack spent all of his free time listening to audio books. It didn't matter what genre of book it was, he just wanted to escape into someone else's story. So every Saturday his mother would go to the library and check out five audio books, and every week Jack would commit five more stories to memory. At the age of 14, Jack's mother, worried about her son's social isolation, enrolled him in a private school capable of teaching special needs students. Jack's sensitive hearing picked up every snide comment whispered behind his back on that first day of class. It was two months into the school year when the confrontation arose. As Jack made his way to second period his walking cane caught on the straps of a book bag just as Thomas Grint, the resident school bully, was passing by. Thomas promptly tripped over the cane and crashed face first onto the linoleum floor. As nearby students failed miserably at concealing their mirth, Thomas hurriedly picked himself up off the floor and whirled on Jack. His bag and walking stick stripped from his person, Jack was forcibly pinned against the lockers, his sneakers barely skimming the ground in search of a solid footing. Slightly dazed from having his head smacked roughly against the metal locker door, Jack tried to put up a feeble resistance. His flailing limbs only served as a provoking annoyance to Thomas who held a firm grip on Jack's shirt and jacket. It wasn't until Jack let out a resounding "Stop!" that Thomas set him down, and the following, "Let me go!" was all it took for Thomas to release his hold. By that point teachers were swarming all over the two boys, directing the the gathered crowd of students to make their way to their next class, and carting Thomas off to the principle's office. Jack was taken to the school nurse and his mother was called, but none of that concerned Jack. He was still baffled by the fact that Thomas had actually complied with his demands. Despite his mother's immediate proposal to put him back into home schooling, Jack surprised her by opting to stay at the private school. The next two years went by very fast for Jack, and the majority of that time was highly entertaining, but despite his overnight popularity, Jack never felt like he belonged.

Personality: Jack is quiet and reserved. His disability makes it difficult for him to connect with others because he hates the feeling of being pitied by "normal" people. Before he gained his ability, Jack rarely voiced his opinions, and though he now has a new found sense of confidence, he still tends to hesitate before speaking. Little by little, Jack is becoming more and more corrupt by the power of his ability. With every command he pushes his moral boundaries just a tad further. The power of his words have also made Jack somewhat of a smart-ass, and when he does venture to speak, he tends to be sarcastic.

Other Notes: You can expect Jack to initially be a tad irritated by the fact that his ability has no affect on the other six.

The Stars Unveiled Empty Ravenscar Academy of Enchantment and Magery

Aeron Lockwood

Name: Aeron Lockwood

Age: 11

Birthday: April 1st

Hopeful house: Kari

Physical appearance: At just under 5’0, Aeron is a bit short, even for an eleven year-old. It is the one feature about him that seems to remain a constant, because as a metamorphmagus everything else about his appearance is constantly in flux.

Personality: Aeron couldn’t really be considered shy since he has no reservations about meeting new people or going to new places, but Aeron has a deep disliking for small talk. Conversations that have no definitive purpose to them frustrate Aeron, so he often finds himself trying to wait out the awkward silence that accompanies his conversations with people he has nothing in common with.

Aeron was raised to be respectful of others and to generally mind his elders. His father always told him two things: that there was magic in the rain, and that a wizard’s worth was in their words not their wands, and when asked what that meant, his father would smile and say, “Maybe next time.”

Aeron has a terrible tendency to procrastinate until the very last second, and sometimes beyond the last second, which often lands him into trouble. And lastly, Aeron has no sense of direction. When he was five he literally could not find his way out of a paper bag. Unfortunately Aeron tends to enjoy being lost, and will wander aimlessly for hours, usually forgetting where he was trying to go in the first place.

History: Aeron was raised in a small orphanage in the town of Greenwood, Maine, and it was apparent from the moment Aeron was found on the orphanage doorstep that he was not "normal." Aeron was in possession of the brightest blue eyes Madam Duffy had ever seen, that is until Aeron caught sight of the jewelry hanging from Madam Duffy’s neck, and before she could blink his eyes were a deep sage green, the same as the stone set into the necklace her mother had given her. Until Aeron was three years old, his eye color would reflect that of whatever he happened to be looking at. If that had been his only abnormality, Madam Duffy would have gotten far more sleep during the five years that Aeron was in her care. Wherever Aeron went trouble was sure to follow, as if it lived in the boy’s shadow ready to strike at the most inopportune moment.

Aeron was eventually adopted by Jasper and Jillian Lockwood, who were both endearingly tickled in the their fist meeting when Aeron’s hair grew wavy and brown like Jasper’s, and his eyes turned a striking color of olive with flecks of gold and amber throughout, just like Jillian’s. Unknown to Aeron or Madam Duffy, the Lockwoods both came from a long line of witches and wizards, but due to a nasty hex placed on Jillian in her youth, they were unable to have children of their own. Aeron went home with them that very day, leaving Madam Duffy relieved, and perplexingly sad to see the boy go.

The Lockwoods were not overly wealthy, but Aeron cannot recall a time when he went without. Jasper worked as an aspiring novelist while Jillain worked for the Department of Magical Accidents and Catastrophes as a member of the Accidental Magic Reversal Squad, which incidentally was how Jasper and Jillian found Aeron in the first place, but that is another story. Just before Aeron’s tenth birthday, Jasper published his first book, “The Lockwood Fables,” which was a collection of stories that Jasper had been writing since his youth including, “The Goblin and the Grindylow,” “Ballad of the Banshee,” “How the Snitch Got It’s Name,” and over twenty-five other titles. The Lockwoods were not adequately prepared for how popular the book became, though neither parent was complaining because the question of how they were to afford Aeron’s schooling was suddenly no longer an issue. Aeron spent the majority of his tenth year of life traversing the globe with his parents to promote his father’s book, returning to the States just in time for his first year at Ravenscar.
