Life Sucks and Then You Die…
General Information

- This will be a fast-paced role-play designed more for entertainment than for writing ability or storytelling, though both of those things will be a part of it of course. Each player will start out with 1-3 characters, and these characters will be killed off with random dice rolls.
The story will take place in a fictional city. I decided on this because I strive to be too detail-oriented, and if I chose a real city I would spend too much time looking at Google Maps… The city is known as Grayfog, in an unknown state of the US. The basics of the story will be covered in my introduction post, but basically it is a zombie apocalypse with our characters trapped in the city. From that point we can go anywhere, but that is where it will start. Treat Grayfog as a metropolis, a city like New York where just about anything is possible (supposedly) in terms of what your characters can be.

- The rules of this role-play are as follows:
1. Because of the survival rate of the characters involved in this role-play, I encourage the “real-life” drama that would inevitably nibble at these groups of survivors. If someone has a bunch of characters that are more interested in causing destruction that working together, then I think that is acceptable. However, I expect a good showing of civility on the parts of all players involved. DO NOT GO TOO FAR. Please… And to those whose characters suffer, don’t take in personally.
2. There are no permanent characters here. Every character has an equal chance to die. So I would advise that you do not become too attached to a character. If my dice roll says that he/she dies in this zombie encounter, then there is no way around that. I will establish that now: no second chances.
3. When the characters encounter a zombie, or a group of zombies, those nearest to it (or perhaps everyone in the group) will go through a dice roll. I will be rolling the dice since I am the GM of this role-play. You can trust that I won’t play favorites or cheat, because I am a stickler for rules. If there is a single zombie, I will limit the deaths to 2 characters. However, far more can die if they encounter a group of zombies. When a character suffers a death roll, I will PM the player that owns that character to inform them. I won’t state it in the OOC, or anywhere publicly. It will then be up to that player to write out how exactly they want that character to die. This way you still have some control over the death of your character… or at least the manner of their deaths.
I will determine the death of a character by rolling 2 dice 10’s (10-sided dice). The percentage required to survive an encounter will be determined by the number of zombies, number of survivors, and other factors. I will have my own table for these factors, which I won’t share. But those are the basics of it.
4. You can’t have a zombie character.
5. Maximum limit of 3 characters per player. I may raise this limit if things go smoothly in the role-play, but that is how it will be for now. New characters can be introduced as old ones die, but try your best to fit it into the story.

The character index has been updated to include all current characters, as Alive, in alphabetical order by last name. I will add any others you come up with as well, so don't worry.
I will work on the intro post tonight. I will write out the first post as the introduction to the apocalypse, and have my three characters gather together in some "safe area," where your other characters will be. I would like to give you all the freedom to move around, but it will be harder for me to narrate and keep track of zombie encounters. I have the intro post up. Again, feel free to start out anywhere. I will do my best to work with all scenarios. Sorry my post sucks, but this kind of writing is a bit outside of my comfort zone. I could have easily made this thing 10,000 words or more before I was actually happy with it. I tried to keep it... casual.
Whoever posts next can either write in a new area, or they can start from where I left off, in the furniture store. At some point, they will have to run again to get away from zombies, and once that happens (once everyone has posted at least once), I will roll encounter dice. At this stage, because of the number of zombies, we can easily lose a large number of characters. We'll just see how it plays out
I won't start rolling until everyone has posted at least once though, unless anyone wants to skip a turn or something.

If characters are going to die as frequently as it sounds, we'll be making a new character ever 3 or 4 posts, and I'd like to be able to jump right back in after my one character dies (since i don't think I will have more than 2 active at once).

As you make characters, use them, and I will update the character index as I have time. And as mentioned above, feel free to claim a post for your own personal character index's, if you would like to keep track of all of your own characters and add additional notes to them.
Q2: How long does it take to turn... honestly, I wasn't sure when I started. Then I kind of got the idea of it mutating, in a sense. At the start of the story, it takes hours for complete transformation. But, several days or weeks later, it could take hours, then maybe just minutes. I think I might go with that, and I will let you know through hints in the story, or just blunt statements, what the case is. For now, it will take several hours.

I have been incredibly busy lately. I haven't had much time to get on FOG for even a few moments. And chances are I won't be on for a while still. My job is killing me, and my two days off will be spent out of town. As soon as I get a chance, so long as all the intro posts are up, I will do the dice rolls and PM the results.
