Fall from Eden: Wrath of Domini Empty Fall from Eden: Wrath of Domini

tl;dr Version first:

Basically, I took all the post-apocalyptic movies and books I could find, and combined them into a great big clusterfuck of survival horror. Should be fun, eh? Lets go over the basics.

In the late 21st century, mankind starts killing itself off. Buncha wars n stuff. Then the Enlightenment, which is kind of like the Second Coming in religious terms, happens. Everyone gives up their gunpowder weapons and a new, world-wide supergovernment is formed - Eden. Cue Golden era of benevolence.

Then everything starts to go to shit. A terrorist group starts blowing up shit and talking back to the Council, which is a group of 9 men who rule Eden. Typical conspiracy stuff.

Then the zombies, nicknamed the Fec, show up. Luckily, the Council manages to mostly quarantine them in Asia, although millions of lives are lost. The Fec, btw, are fast, Rage-like zombies. But they decay, like any dead body, so a zombie who's older probably can't run, but younger ones can be fast as fuck. The zombie basically retains the same speed that they would have had at approximate time of death, minus the amount of decay it has seen. However, since most of the world has been turned into a cold desert, the decay is pretty slow. I'll get to that later.

Anyway, after the zombies showed, the Council sets up a small army. Of course, the Burnt Hand (terrorists) gets pissy about this and starts accusing the army of rape and shit. The dissenters get more powerful. More riots and shit, and the army is having a tough time controlling both the riots and the occasional zombie outbreak.

Then the dragons show up.

You heard me right; dragons. Basically, Reign of Fire dragons. Same concepts - multiply and spread like rabbits, feed on ash and destruction, intelligent, enjoy revenge, etc. Only difference is that there is more than one bull, but they are still much rarer than females.

So all this shit boils down into panic, the Council launches nukes (that they claimed they destroyed) at dragon dens, and civilization ends in a fiery nuclear holocaust, followed by a winter. Council goes poof, everyone assumes they're dead, along with 90% of the world.

This RP would picks up 11 years after the Fall. A small group of survivors are employed by the Burnt Hand to discover the truths behind the Fall by traveling to New Roma, aka Mexico City, the former seat of the Council. They are to explore the city to see if a) the Council is still alive, and b) investigate the private archives of Archibald Goméz, the former Head Councilor.

REALLY TL;DR VERSION:

OH SHIT THE WORLDS ENDED AND THERE'S ZOMBIES AND DRAGONS AND BANDITS EVERYWHERE OH FUCK. ALSO THERE'S NO GUNS WTF MAN. HOW THE SHIT DID THIS HAPPEN?

WELP, I GUESS WE'LL HAVE TO FIND OUT.

Please post if you're interested. I'm looking for somewhere between three and six characters.

Fall from Eden: Wrath of Domini Empty Re: Fall from Eden: Wrath of Domini

The more literary version:

According to the New Calendar, the date is Septimus 42nd, y.172.

According to the Old Calendar the year is 2258, anno domini, although few believe in the "domini" part any more. After all, Eden burned eleven years ago.

Eden was the benevolent supergovernment that was formed 173 years ago, after the Enlightening, which came after the Dying Years - eras of human history remembered by few, now that all the record have burnt and the Elders have died. What is known is that during Eden's reign, there was a Golden Age of Man and God, and the two lived in unity. The Elder Council governed the land. It was comprised of 9 men hundreds of years old, kept alive by science and the Will of God, who had lived through both the Dying and the Enlightenment.

Eden was, they said, a paradise; and our grandparents agreed, although they are so faint in our memories now. No war, no disease, no famine, no fear. Any research that was not benevolent in nature was banned. The Council confiscated and destroyed all ballistic weapons - guns, bombs, missiles, biochemical weapons. Blades were allowed, for decorational purposes only. The public did not resist - they were tired of war. They were tired of the old Dying ways.

And so science and God walked hand in hand for 150 years, and it was good. But there is always dissent. Humans are never able to accept a good thing, not without suspecting the sinister.

Fourteen years before the Fall of Eden, the first reports of "terrorism", a word not heard in two hundred years, appeared on holoscreens across the globe. It started small; a murder here, an arson there. Many of the perpetrator were caught. But the Movement, as they called themselves, snowballed. The Dissenters often disappeared without a trace, but there were always three more to replace the one that had gone. Soon the Movement was given another name: The Burnt Hand. They claimed that the world was being deceived, that Eden was not a paradise but a prison. They said that people did not go into God's care at the age of 50 - they were euthanized en masse like cattle by the government, and thrown into the sea to rot. They shouted that the Council had brainwashed us all, pulled the wool over our eyes and put piano wire around our necks. They believed that the Council had saved certain devices of mass destruction for themselves, and had stockpiles of weapons waiting in case of revolt, at which point they would mercilessly slaughter their own people, in order to preserve their power.

Then, ten years before the Fall, the Infected began to appear.

They called it the Solanum virus. No one knows where the first outbreak started, but it is believed to have originated in the Asian continent. A cure was sought desperately, and found. But the virus evolved constantly. Each month a new strain would appear, and more people would die, and then come back biting and scratching. Any contact between the blood and the dead flesh would cause infection. The Burnt Hand rejoiced in the panic. They claimed that this was the Reckoning. But the Fecs, as they were called, did not discriminate. They thought that Dissenters tasted just as good as anyone else.

Although a cure could not be found, the Council was quick to act, and they did so wisely. They established a small protective force, fiercely loyal to the government, and fortified the large towns and major cities in those regions that had not yet been infected. Much of Asia was lost to the Fec hordes, but many more were saved. After two years of terror, order had been restored as best it could.

The Burnt Hand lived on, spreading its "Truth". More and more people joined its cause, disgusted with the callous decisions of the Council concerning Asia. They asked why more was not done to save refugees, why the government had so quickly abandoned hope. With more support, the Burnt Hand initiated more violence. Riots started, and the protective force grew in size in order to "keep peace". The Council urged calm, reminding the public of the great danger at the doorstep of the Old World. This worked to deter some, but many others ignored the warning and continued their protests, violent or otherwise.

Then, two years before the Fall, the first dragon appeared in the sky.

Those old myths and legends had never been given due credit. They multiplied and spread like wildfire, almost faster than the Fec. They would burn cities to the ground, and then feast on the ash. They were the harbingers of doom.

Even the Burnt Hand did not rejoice at this. There was widespread panic. The protective forces attempted to maintain order, but they were overrun by Fec, dragons, rioters, and the public. Even the wise, old Council did not know what to do. They had never seen destruction like this before. In the olden days, the destruction of mankind was brought about by mankind itself. They had thought that by maintaining peace among humans, they had conquered their worst enemy. But no longer. The Council was left with one choice that they thought may save them.

They launched ten nuclear strikes, the last of those that had been confiscated, and attempted to destroy the ten greatest nesting areas of the dragons, including the Chasm of Fire in Norway, where the first dragon had arisen, the greatest nesting area of them all.

Those that remember it say the entire sky was filled with fire that day, and the cries of dragons, moans of Fec, and screams of humans could be heard throughout the solar system. It was truly the Fall from Eden.

In the chaos that came after, the Fec overran their quarantine, the few remaining dragons seek vengeance for their thousands of dead, and a Nuclear Winter set in. Billions died during and after the Fall. The Council has disappeared, thought to have committed suicide with most of their advisers. Survivors do what they can for their namesake. The Burnt Hand is now a humanitarian aid force, helping those whom they can. Bandits and cannibal tribes roam the cold plains, looking for their next victim.

Heaven has turned into Hell, and you will not be delivered from evil.

I always thought melee weapons and old fashioned armor was the way to go for whacking zombies anyway. I am in provided I am able to still use some looted composite bow.

It's not gunpowder so go ahead.

For more information on what weapons I will/will not be allowing, check out Dies the Fire/The Protector's War.

I am familiar with those series, but I was thinking specifically of the high tech durable polymer composites that wouldn't necessarily be able to be produced post fall. Arrows sure, the string possibly, but the bow no. It would be a prized treasure no?
