Mercenaries have always had a reputation for being selfish soldiers who fight for only money. Those who willingly buy their services do not trust them as far as they could poke them and that wasn't far at all. Despite this obvious distrust of these fighters for hire, they were sought out to aid both sides of a war or conflict that needed extra help in their battles and struggles. They were cannon fodder, extra assassins or additional swords who would not be missed if struck down or erased from the Earth.

Originally in the beginning, they were found along the roadsides and bars looking for the next willing client to ask them for a job. Some called them desperate loners who were a sword away from being homeless beggars and desperate thieves when a town would not tolerate them, an army would not accept them into their ranks or any type of authority would tolerate their presence.

Now they gather willingly together in buildings that are dedicated to their goal which is to earn money, and lots of it. Some are more forceful in their rules of getting the cash than others, but at least they are getting paid for their services. It is in this era of progress that our story is told...

Pale steaming rays of morning sunshine painted the tips of the many rooftops bright with white as the large ball of light slowly crawled its way over the surrounding mountains, higher and higher into the light blue sky. Birds of all sized and shapes chirped and flew up, through and around the many leafy trees where their nests were, where the food was and where their other fellow birds sat to sing welcome to the start of the morning. A thin layer of fog hovered over grassy fields, the summertime flowers collecting the warming dew as the town of Weirshgard slowly woke up to begin the day.

Walking along the cobbled path of black, sandy brown and pearly white stones and taking in a deep breath of cool, crisp air was a young woman of average height dressed in a black leather long coat over a tightly woven wool shirt the shade of deep, brooding purple. Her belt is made from the cheapest leather with the symbol of a shadowed howling wolf along with several initials and a scratched in date along the length of it. Her boots were the color of deep, earthy brown, steel-toed, came up to mid-calf on her legs and the heels were only an inch high and twin inches long. Bright, silvery hair covered by layered pale strands of baby blue was pulled up into a messy bun which caused several loose hairs to fall into her face. Dark, black eyes the color of shiny coal narrowed as they stared forward towards a large tall and brown building. Her ears were pierced through with thing, cylinder twisted pieces of metal that winded around each other’s ends downward. Her pale lips were only a couple shades darker than her whitish skin and were rather thin compared to other woman.

Her brisk, hurried steps made her look rushed and hurried as she avoided running full sprint to the large brown building that on the front of its face was painted the Shadow of a large wolf, the very same one that was on her belt. Tugging the worn leather strap of her carrying bag, the woman huffed in the morning air as she got closer. She could already make several lists of what she had to accomplish behind the bar today. Get the bucket of cleaning water ready to wipe down all the surfaces inside and outside the guild tavern, make another one for the windows and glass surfaces such as the entire see through cabinets as well as the dishwater for all the overnight dishes that were left over from the late night mercenaries who ate light before closing time.

As she neared the large, twenty foot entrance the building she was stopped by two bulky men who had their meaty arms crossed over each other, accompanied by almost identical scowls of intimation on their faces.

"Identification, ma'am," the sandy haired man who was called Kils to her right said as he held out a hand to gesture to her neck.

Smiling lightly, she reached for her throat and pulled a beaded chain from under the top edge of her purple shirt. Holding it up, she showed them her guild tags. These thin strips of metal were molded from tough sheets of aluminsteel that was easy to stamp letters on and were relatively cheap to afford for mass distribution. The tags were issued a year after the first Mercenary Guilds were opened after many problems occurred over how to identify what member came from where and who they were.

On her first tag which was always shown first was her Guild symbol of the Forsaken Wolves. The second tag she word was printed with her name, Guild ID number, her class rank and the location in which the Guild is located. When the dark haired man named Xuel to her left nodded his approval, she was let it in and headed straight for the bar that located at the far left corner of the guild.

She was greeted by her partner and longtime guild member, Seidalyn who had short blond hair and bright green eyes. Waving from her place over by the water buckets for cleaning up and soaking their towels for wiping up spill and dust were set.

"Mornin' Tyth!" Seida said as the young woman made her way around the long bar and to the back room where they stored their personal items. No one was able to snitch anything because they would have to make their way past the two women to even try.

"Morning," Tyth's voice responded loudly from the back room and after a few shuffling sounds of fabric, she appeared again with a long white apron thrown over one shoulder.

"Any early birds yet?" she asked as the lighter haired gal wrung a pair of dishrags free of warm water and shook her head no. The term early birds was both for early risers and their term of early mercenaries who arrived at the guild near the breaking of dawn for a drink, some breakfast or to get an early start on a mission before others. Since many were soldiers, warriors and longtime mercenaries of another generation, they saw their fair share of early risers due to their inability to sleep for long periods of time, insomnia and exhaustion from a long mission or pushing themselves over their limit. They have since made several special menus for these cases and their customer had but to state their condition for them to get a nice "pick me up" of some sort to recover. If the state was too serious for their abilities due to past wounds, too much alcohol or grass use (their term for various drugs) then they had the right to withhold service and have them escorted home.

Glancing over at the young Third Class by the name of Reuth, she figured he made his living off of escorting passed out, unconscious or wounded members of the guild to the healing bays or the soldiers personal quarters by tips given to him by Tyth or Seida themselves that he didn't really need to go on many missions at all.

As she arranged several layers of shot glasses, tall cups and mugs behind the bar, she heard a giggle from Seida and the murmur of "birds at one o’clock" to mean that their first group of early arrivals had just walked through the doors.

"Did you want to take the floor, or shall I? You've been on the bar for the past week, hunny." Seida asked as she flicked the remaining water from her hands by her fingers and waved to some of the men who greeted her or called her name.

"I'll take the floor, I guess. You're feet are probably hurting and I didn't want to cause that."

Waving off the apology, the older woman of her thirties nudged her friend gently forward towards the large floor of tables where most of their group had sat themselves. Only a total count of ten loners or still sleepy men sat themselves at the bar in front of Seida. Rolling her shoulders as she patted her apron pockets to make sure her pad of paper was still there, Tyth went up to her first customer who was a forty year old First Class and placed a hand on her hip since she knew this was going to be a long morning.

"What'll it be this morning, Vardgreig?"

The sun was already high up when a frightened man rushed inside an alley, in high hopes of escaping his pursuer. A man of short silvery-white hair, black clothing lined with silver on the edges, and two-colored eyes... at least that was what the man saw when he took a quick glance behind. It was another day on the job for Zied as he gave chase. His target, holding valuable information about a certain shipment of contraband.

The job was simple, steal the manifest, silence the middleman, get paid... all in a day's work.

The man was fleet-footed, but Zied knew that running inside an alley was the end road for him. The only reason he was playing cat was because he did not want to kill the man in broad daylight before numerous people. Fast and agile his target may be, it was only a matter of time before Zied managed to lay his hands on him and forcefully slammed the man's back towards the alley's end.

His target struggled to break free at first, but after a quick jolt of his right hand equipped with one katar, Zied immediately showed the man that he had the upper hand. "I'll give you what you want! Just don't kill me!"

Perfect! There would be no resistance. Zied will get what his client needs with ease. Sadly, don't kill me is out of the question... mission accomplished.

Some thirty minutes later...

"Well done! Never thought a third class could actually handle this job pretty well. Here's your pay, I'll be sure to look for you again when I am in need of a mercenary." the fat man dressed in fancy clothing said as he tossed a pouch over to Zied.

Three hundred ada coins, that was the deal. The fat man feasted his eyes on the contents of the manifest as Zied walked away, happy with the payment he received. This much should last him a week, maybe less, without having to find another job so soon. Another day, another life; time to hit the guild bar...

Eyes laid their gaze on him as he tread the cobble path of this new town, Weirshgard. He was not a familiar face around and many people surely did not like his presence in town, especially when the truth about him being a third class of the Forsaken Wolves leaked to the public. Probably it was a discrimination that came with the rank, Zied did not know... or cared. It was probably his image, he always looked intimidating with his jet black coat and pants, paired with a single studded red glove on his right hand, along with a pair of mean looking katars firmly latched on the side of his legs, plus that oriental sword strapped to his back. Who knows? He could be wrong... it could have been many other things why people did not like what they were seeing in him.

Regardless, he stood tall, held an indifferent gaze in his eyes as they met various stares from the people he passed on his way to the Forsaken Wolves guild. After a good while of walking, Zied finally reached his destination. Of course, now that he is a member of a mercenary guild, there were now rules for him to follow, identification was one of them.

Two bulky men blocked the huge doorway to the guild. They stared down at him, as if saying small fry like him need to leave the guild. He had been through this scene many times now and he was sure the two already recognize him as one of the guild's members but still, rules are rules. Zied pulled out his tags from his pocket and held them for the men to see. It was clear that they were irked by his presence. They never said a word and unwillingly opened the doors of the guild for him. With a scoff as his remark, he walked forward, passing through the other guild members like they were non-existent.

Sure, they might be higher in rank than him, but there was just no way he'd show respect. All he needed right now is a good drink to wash the new bloodstain on his hands.

If there were a few good things left in this world, they were this guild's bar and its attendants. Taking his usual seat at the edge of the bar, Zied waited for his turn to be served. Vardgreig, the pain in the ass first class was also there. Zied scoffed, another long day is as it seems.

Forsaken Wolves IC (RES n ETHEREAL) Empty Re: Forsaken Wolves IC (RES n ETHEREAL)

Post by Rogue.Ember.Shadow Tue Oct 19, 2010 2:35 am

It was nearing noon and their major rush for the day was getting started as more thirsty groups arrived into the tavern area for their pitchers of ale while washing it down with some conversation sharing their recent missions and events of their morning. Weaving her way nimbly though the now crowded seating area while expertly carrying trays heavy with empty, used glasses, Tyth struggled to keep her facial expressions neutral. Grumpy, snappish waitresses tended to irk their customers and make them rowdy which usually led to fights and the seating area had been recently renovated and repaired two and half weeks ago.
Finally reaching the bar, the white and blue haired waitress placed the used trays down while reaching for the newly stocked trays filled with various colors of liquor. Seida meanwhile was manning the bar with admirable speed of response. Her memory of orders outmatched Tyth's since she still had to write down her orders for each table she served while her friend didn't really have that problem. Not that it mattered but the young woman envied the older woman for her expertise in this field. She had only been a waitress at the guild's tavern for about a year and half while Seida had been doing this job for nearing ten now.

"How's the old grouch doing?" the blond asked as she handed the used trays off to their fellow dish boy, Reuth, and she wiping her hands clean on a dishtowel.

Flexing the tired muscles in her arms, Tyth rolled her eyes at the question. "Old Vard is as loud as he usually is and is always buying the others a large round of drinks along with those flashy stories he keeps telling of his prodigy's latest job."

Seida giggled at her friend as she handed off several drinks while noticing out of corner of her eye one of her regulars by his white hair and oriental sword," We make the money off him though. As long as some of these boys don't pull anything, we should be good for the day."

Chuckling, the younger woman shook her head as she put her fingers on the outer ridges of the first tray of drinks, "I think it has something to do with you throwing several glasses all the way across the room while threatening to close down for a whole month if Xalosis and his cronies didn't stop causing trouble a month ago."

The comment made the barmaid blush as she hurried over to several of her regulars while shooing her friend from the bar. Smiling, Tyth hefted both trays up and headed back over to the center tables where Vardgreig and several groups in the surrounding tables that hung on to his every word were gathered. What made her frown however was the purple and black haired young man that looked around her age with bright blue eyes and narrow but handsome facial structure.

Leaning his jean covered hips against the table's edge of his master, Xalosis smirked down as he listened and nodded to his recent mission being retold for all to hear. His ears were pierced with several beaded studs along both his ears and his broadsword was laid across the table he was leaning against. Tyth tried to lighten her frown as she neared his back while passing out drinks.

She honestly didn't like attention seekers like him. The event she referred to earlier was one of the reasons why. When he was bragging to some of his teammates when one of them decided they didn't like the story and wanted to leave. Xalosis got extremely offended and decided to respond with violence. The brawl resulted in the man nearly losing the use of his lower jaw and left side, Seida's temper having reached its limit and Tyth having hesitated with decided if she should use some of the knives behind the bar to pin Xalosis and his fellow mercenaries in crime to the wall behind them in the other man's defense. It was all resolved when Seida threw glasses above each of their heads, letting the shattered glass shower down on them as she made her way over with her voice loud enough for them to stop what they were doing. Even since then, no one had decided to try fighting in the tavern for a while but she could never put her two Sterling bits on trusting Xelosis's obedience. It wouldn't be long before he started trouble again and maybe this time, she could bring herself to interfere.

"Here you are, boys," she said as she let them grab whatever mug they wanted since it didn't matter after the first two they drank. All the men around her, along with a handful of women threw their mugs in the air for a big cheer of Xalosis' name then falling back into their seats in laughter. The prodigy reached for the last mug on her tray and when she looked up, he winked at her then tipping his mug to her in a silent cheer.

Rolling her eyes at him, she turned away in disgust and headed back to the bar. Her old partner and former master, Brant Olisiuer, told her that any warrior, whether they called themselves mercenary or not were to not in excessive vanity were sure to destroy themselves and those they take with them. As she picked up a few more empty glasses on her way back, she missed the dark frown the purple haired man gave her as he leaned down at the urging of one of his comrades. He smirked and nodded while lifting his mug up for another random cheer.

Sighing, she didn't care where she put the trays since Reuth always picked them up and decided near one of the farther ends of the bar. Even though she was strong, it wasn't her muscles that tired nearly as much as her mind did under stress. She constantly used the calming techniques Brant taught her which mostly included breathing and distractions of different thoughts. She didn't complain outright from the demands of this job but it was her choice to work here. Under all the stress, demands and constant thinking of what to keep track of next, it kept her thoughts away from the past...

"You be alright, girly?" said the guttural voice of one of her few favorite clients. Raising her head from bowing it down after setting the trays down, she gave a genuine smile to a middle-aged man with graying green hair, links starting to form under his eyes and a kind smile through his grizzly green beard. Vaynglory Lothlucan was a general level mercenary whom was considered by many to be the next master of the guild. He was nice to almost everyone but his legendary prowess with a weapon whispered among many to be a man "consumed by demons". She didn't doubt it from the few stories Brant told her since they both had went on only two missions together.

Nodding, she let him wipe away a few drops of sweat from her temple as she pushed the tray slowly into Reuth's hands who were balancing a small empty pitcher on his head with a big fat smile on his face. She couldn't get what made the young lad so happy almost all the time. One of the virtues of being so young and clinging to what little of the innocence there was left in a child.

"I'm fine, just taking a quick breather, “she replied as she rolled her shoulders backwards to get the blood flowing again. Vaynglory watched her movements and chuckled loud enough for her to turn to him with a raised eyebrow.

"What?" she demanded playfully, stretching her arms lengthwise over her head.

"It’s just despite setting your status aside, you still can't kick some habits of being a mercenary, “he said with a wide grin as Seida set down his large mug of ice water and 1/3 lemon juice. It was a strange combination but Vayneglory just laughs it off, saying he doesn’t have a sugar tooth anymore. Tyth sighed and dropped her arms, instead crossing them over her chest as she gave the elder man a warning stare.

"Don't start on me, Lothlucan. I made my choice, I'm sticking by it and no amount of you ragging on me is going to make me think otherwise. Brant understands and I really would like for you to do so as well."

Shaking his head with a sad smile, Vayne fingered the thick glass handle of his mug,"Yeah? Says you, little girl, but you can't seriously think of wasting the rest of your life in this guild's bar do you? You have so much potential and I know you itch to go back into those sparring rings, like you used to two years ago. You weren't showing off but you were genuine in your skill. You had talent, Tyth. Brant only trains those who he sees would benefit from it."

Looking down to the floorboards where several feet below, the sparring rings set in a large limestone cavern were located. She had been in those rings, fighting and challenging others too. She used to be one of them, but no more.

Seida was pouring another drink when she noticed him move. Narrowing her eyes, she followed his movements despite keeping up a conversation with one retired Third Class mercenary in front of her. Ever mercenary here, retired or no, could fight bare handed with a weapon lethal if given the chance. She was no exception and from what little she was able to get from the Meister, so was Tyth. If need be, she would keep the peace but a lot of the time she let the problems settle themselves among these people.

Noticing how Xalosis shoved his way past her favorite white haired regular aside to lean against the bar behind Tyth, she decided it wouldn't be her who teaches Xal a lesson this time. Smirking, she let the events run its course since Tyth's fingers had been itching around sharp objects for the past week and maybe these past two years were going to be her limit.

Stiffening as she heard Xalosis appear behind her, she took in Vayneglory's frown as the tray she was reaching for to serve was slowly pulled from her fingers.

"Hiya Tythy," he murmured over her shoulder, using a nickname she couldn't stand, "You owe me an answer from some weeks ago when Miss Seida lost her temper.”

She closed her eyes and moved her hand that was near the tray away from his grasping fingers but then he suddenly latched on her wrist. Throwing her other free hand out, she stopped Vayneglory from getting up to come assist her. Twisting slowly around as the bar area's voices starting to hush and all eyes became focused on them.

"I do, don't I?"

Xalosis smirked down at her and pulled her closer to him by her wrist only. He didn't seem bothered that his grip was causing a small bruise underneath the pads of his fingers but she ignored the pain. She needed to make him think she was being swayed. Behind her, Vayneglory had turned back to his lemon juice and was smirking to himself.

Smiling up at the mercenary celebrity of Forsaken Wolves, Tyth reached her other free hand towards his cheek and brushed his cheek with one finger, "How's this for an answer then?"

She quickly jerked her hand back from his face and then slammed it hard on the cheek she was touching not a second earlier. When her wrist was free, she used the edge of the bar to balance herself enough to lift her left leg up and kick the jerk's side, right over his ribs. As she heard the breath whoosh out from her kick, she pushed away from the bar as he cursed and hugged his injured ribs. Tyth winced as she rubbed the skin of her hand since she was two years rusty with her reflexes. Her muscles were not what they used to be and it was costing her now since already she was winded from moving so fast. It took all her strength just to slap the turd mercenary as hard as she could and if it wasn't for his fast reflexes of slamming his hand on the bar to hold his upper body up, his temple would have been slammed into the bar's surface.

Smirking evilly, she watched Xal's fist come towards her and she breathed in through her nose, ready for it. As it neared her range, she forced her forearm up just in time to block it. Several voices gasped at her move but the force behind it was enough to unbalance her tired body to fall backwards. She slammed down and so was the next attack that she couldn't even think of fending off due to the back of her head hitting the floor.

Tyth winced as pain filled her head along with Seida's screaming voice. Faintly she could see the wide and angry blue eyes as his fist came down towards her again. At least she would have the happy thought of the manager having to replace her due to her being in the recovery ward from being assaulted by drunken celebrities.

Forsaken Wolves IC (RES n ETHEREAL) Empty Re: Forsaken Wolves IC (RES n ETHEREAL)

Post by Ethereal Tue Oct 19, 2010 7:00 am

A bar fight? Then again, this happens almost at a regular basis with that narcissist, self-proclaimed mercenary who goes by the name Xal-- Zied stopped his thoughts. The only thing that made him remember the hostile's name was because he hit one of the few things that keeps him relaxed.

From the corner of his black eye, Zied watched the events slowly unfold within the guild's bar. Silence befell the patrons as the so called prodigy made a move on her, the woman who goes by the name Tythy, one of the few people who actually looked different from the rest of the crowd. Unknown to him, Zied felt irritated. He was happy at first that she could fight off the bar's so called celebrity but pissed off at the fact that the pest doesn't know how to take a hint and doesn't even care about holding back against a woman.

What was that just now? Holding back against a woman? Since when did he have such thoughts? Zied chuckled to himself. Is this one of the few new things that he must learn to know what it meant to live? Ahh but the concept is hard to understand. What was there for him if he held back against a woman? The thoughts were brushed aside when the tables were turned against the bar's waitress.

The woman was punched and sent to the bar's floor. Though she managed to skillfully block the blow, the force behind it was more than enough to send her off balance and sprawled on the floor. What are the rest of these idiotic pests doing just watching? How could they be so stupid?! There is simply no way someone out of shape could teach that insect a lesson...

Reservations aside, Zied swiftly left his seat. As that bug's fist roared for a final blow, Zied closed the distance between him and the soaring fist. He was never one to show much of his ability, but Zied knew that if he held back just a little bit, that flying fist would hit its mark. He was not going to let that happen. That waitress had served him many drinks that washed away the blood stains he almost daily accumulates by his hands. Whether she accepts it or not, to Zied, she had helped him live another day.

Reaching for the sword strapped on his back, Zied quickly drew the whole thing, sheathed and immediately swung it upward as soon as he reached striking range, nearly in a bat of an eyelash. The tip of his oriental sword's sheath clashed with the vermin's fist. Should he have chosen to pull his sword out of the sheath, that loser would surely loose his fist. A loud clacking sound could be heard as flesh and bone hit his solidly made sword sheath, and the motion of the punch stopped in a deadlock.

Zied's two-colored eyes fell down to the floor, met the girl's eyes for a moment and shifted his gaze to where his right foot landed just a few inches away from the waitress' face. Had he miscalculated his footing even by a tiny bit, he would have ended stepping on a strand of her hair. The earlier silence that consumed the bar grew more intense, almost as if the patrons were completely gone and the bar was closed for business.

Third class, the losers of the guild, the hated and bullied ones, yes he was one of them but what good is it to be labeled by ranks according to skill? To Zied, it matters not and will matter not for as long as his body breathes life. A taboo of the bar was broken. Third class members are not supposed to stick their noses to where it doesn't belong. Of course, there was no general rule stating that fact but it was a given that a third class needed to prove himself before even being recognized as a true mercenary. It was not everyday the people who frequented this bar sees something new like this.

"Insect, do you really intend to win a woman's heart using brute force?" Zied questioned as he forced the deadlock of his sword and that arrogant bitch's fist away.

Never in his life had he been involved willingly with events happening around him that would grant him no gain. Why did he start now? The questions were there but he was currently occupied to even start thinking of the answers.

"Your fist stings doesn't it? You're so weak, what kind of prodigy are you a womanizer's prodigy? Like master like student... first class pain in the asses." he continued as he shifted his gaze over to Vardgreig and their crowd. "What? You got something to say to me? Let's take it outside..." Zied said and held his sword's hilt, ready to draw his blade the instant someone makes a move he didn't like. Hell, who would have problems killing them all? Not Zied.

Forsaken Wolves IC (RES n ETHEREAL) Empty Re: Forsaken Wolves IC (RES n ETHEREAL)

Post by Rogue.Ember.Shadow Tue Oct 19, 2010 6:21 pm

She didn't register someone had saved her until she heard the crunch of bone against metal not far from her body. Looking up through the fading echoes of pain in her skull, she met two mismatched eyes of black and red. Getting her breath back, she heard his voice, which was typically deep for a male but also had a tone of scorn in it from resentment and empathy.

Tyth forced herself up on one elbow as she watched this white haired man push the fist he intercepted away. She was very sure he had not been there a second ago, considering his boot was three breaths away from her face. That said volumes of his control and speed alone. It also showed that he hurried himself a little bit in getting there in time to stop Xal's attack, which meant he must have not been used to saving others, only in slaying. That fact was typical around here since there very few heroes among thieves in this place. Why she still stayed was debatable during most mornings too.

However, she wanted to groan aloud in exasperation when he threw out an outright challenge to Xalosis, Vardgrieg and their posse. Did the guy want to start a stampede of chaos just to prove his mettle? There were arenas for that. There were practice rings and what not. Anyone had access to those but she figured that maybe he just had a flair for the dramatic. Besides, she didn't want Seida's money to go to waste from pitching in to repair this place last time when it was Reuth's fault for getting in between two old time drunkards.

Pushing herself up until she was in a crouch and then fully standing, she placed her hand slowly onto the man's shoulder and she stepped forward to stand by his left side and met his eyes out of the corner of her right one. Meanwhile, Xalosis was still nursing his hand with a pained but angry scowl on his face. She knew he would lunging forward again but this time she would be ready for him, and he would not stand back up again.

"Thanks for back there, but I've got him. You may have interfered but he was mine in the first place," she murmured as she stepped forward to the blue and black haired jerk while cracking her knuckles. Vayneglory looked up from his drink, having ignored the entire event when he noticed the look in her eyes. He smiled again and went back to his drink, knowing it was going to be over very, very soon.

Placing her feet wider apart, Tyth met Xalosis' eyes and glared, “You asked me a few weeks ago if I wanted to join you in a job for C1 ranks without permission and to cut out everyone else besides you and me. Where's the honor in that kind of mission when it’s just selfish and corrupt? I may be a C2 Mercenary but I'm on leave! Do you not understand what that means? You triple thick, backstabbing, callous, black hearted mongrel who is selfish and idiotic enough to think he can walk away from PISSING ME OFF!"

All her frustration, stress, anger and hopelessness from the past and present welled up on her. She used her breathing to keep the red haze away from her vision to keep her thinking clear but the energy instead went to fueling her adrenaline which was all she needed to move how she wanted. She may be rusty, she may be out of shape and whatnot, but she would never forget what she could do. Brant made sure of that since his students and friends could fight against many odds to ensure their safety.

It felt almost natural as she ran towards Xalosis at the same time he took an angry step towards her. Before when she had faced him, she kept thinking she couldn't bring herself to hurt him and that she didn't have what it took anymore. She didn't have the will to fight before, but now she did because if she let that wonderful man fight for her, he would be razzed for it and probably wouldn't be left alone for months. That couldn't happen because right now, this was her fight and she was going to end it.

His fist came towards her left temple but with an almost thoughtless move, she moved her head several inches out of the way while her own fist was coming towards his stomach. She buried her knuckles deep into the hard muscle of his abdominal muscles when she noticed his other fist coming up shakily to punch at her again. Grabbing the wrist like he did to her before, she twisted hard enough for him to cringe in pain, not to mention stop all movement if he didn't want the bones broken. Letting herself smile a little bit, she twirled in boots towards his body until her back was pressed against his chest while pulling his arm over her shoulder, not releasing the twisting grip she had on his arm. Breathing in, she gave a loud furious yell and bent over enough to throw the cur over her shoulder. She watched with satisfaction as Xalosis fell into the next two tables in front of her since she had turned them around to face the seating area and not the bar. The fall and pain from everything else he had endured between her and the white haired man she knew was some Third Class had caused him to faint from unconsciousness.

Huffing as all the exertion caught up with her again, Tyth bent over while placing her palm on her upper thighs to catch her breath. She was really out of shape but that needed to be done. After several seconds of realizing that Xalosis had been publicly humiliated, everyone outside of his posse had thrown up their mugs in a loud cheer. Seida had run around the bar with glistening eyes to Tyth to make sure she wasn't hurt which seemed true except for the bruise on her wrist.

Smiling down at her friend, the blond turned towards the white haired man whom she knew was named Zied and touched a hand gently to his cheek. "For that, you can whatever you order for the rest of the week free, on me."

Not taking no for an answer, she nodded in agreement to him and left to head back to serving at the bar. Tyth had finally stood back up to full height and was walking back over to the man who saved her. Placing a hand on her hip, she gave him a bright smile.

"Thanks again for what you did. I really wasn't ready for at all to be honest." she murmured as she stepped close enough that their eyes were clearly visible to the other. Then, with the leftover adrenaline fluttering through her veins, she popped the white haired man upside the head gently, "but that's for throwing a challenge out when it wasn't necessary. If you want to fight so badly, there are practice areas, there are challenges and tournaments held every week. Even better are the promotional trials for going up the ranks where you can cross swords with some of the best from all the other guilds. Be different from them in taking out your frustrations."

Done with her lecture, Tyth was just about to step away from him when Vayneglory howled with laughter from his seat. His large wrinkled hand slammed his drink down onto the bar loudly has he guffawed away.

"That's just rich Tyth, my girl. You lecturing that man there when you should be taking your own advice!" he said between gulps of air as he calmed down and met her eyes with a semiserious stare, “you can't deny that punching that little trouble maker felt good. I saw it in your eyes when you were running at him. You always did look so beautiful when you working to best someone in a fight! You're at your wits end with your control and I think you're starting to realize that. Get thee to a promotional trial and stay there until I see you as a Class 1, eh?"

Huffing as she twirled toward the old man with a growl, she couldn't speak since his words were starting to make sense. She hadn't bothered drinking, fighting or even cursing for the last two years and keeping all that in was really starting to take a toll on her control. She knew what Vayne was hinting at and it bugged her that the weathered old man was speaking the truth. It wouldn't be long before she starting acting like creeps like Xalosis by using people as target practice instead of the actual targets.

She turned away from both the men as Seida set down an extra large alcoholic drink in front of her white haired savior. Vayneglory said one last thing before leaving his tip for the afternoon, "Get a partner again, Tyth. Get out there and be a better mercenary than you were before."

It was an option, but one she wasn't sure she could bring herself in doing. Giving the white haired man a tired smile, she turned back to the bar for a fresh rack of freshly poured drinks and Seida's encouraging smile. Maybe she could find a new partner if they didn't have a problem her killing a bunch of innocents in cold blood and getting a promotion out of it all. No, nobody in this place would have a problem with that. Killing in cold blood was everything around here.

Forsaken Wolves IC (RES n ETHEREAL) Empty Re: Forsaken Wolves IC (RES n ETHEREAL)

Zied got thanked! It was a little surprising at first to be thanked by someone for something he did not intend to do. He got irritated, that's all there is to it but who could understand him? Nobody ever knew him inside out other than himself.

"Heh..." he scoffed.

Free drinks until the end of the week. A fair enough compensation in exchange for receiving a usual pay. Zied thought his actions would yield him no gain but was proven otherwise. Then came her lecture. Who would bother getting a rank promotion, tournaments or duels or whatever they would like to call it? Third Class or whatever, everyone is the same from his point of view - mercenaries, nothing more, nothing less. Zied would have twisted the woman's arm the moment she tapped his head lightly but surprisingly, his hands remained still. He did have fun watching her knock the obnoxious bastard out cold. Zied glanced back at the man passed out on the bar floor. Somewhere deep inside him, a laughter managed to swirl its way up and escape his lips. He was laughing as he strapped his sword onto his back once more. He then turned to the older barmaid.

"You got lucky. If it was me who finished the fight, you'd have a dead man lying there. It was not my intention to save someone who can actually take care of herself. That guy just seriously pissed me off for ruining my day." He said and chugged down the glass of liquor prepared for him in one go. Alcohol in his system affected him very little. He always had this rather strong resistance to the substance allowing him to drink until nightfall and not get drunk. But who would be in the drinking mood after such an incident?

The guild request board would be his next destination. He never really got to flush out his irritation. Perhaps a job would help him get the swing of things back on track. A word from the old man rang clear in his head, partner. It was exactly what he needed for the job he took two days ago from an anonymous requester. The task was difficult even for him and Zied figured that he would be needing a partner for this one. The job itself had a deadline, and time was running short for him. He only had a month more to actually complete the task. If only there was someone whom he could consider a partner...

"Oi." he said to the woman he was said to have saved. "Might you be interested in a job? It's not one of the regular jobs found in this guild's request board. These kinds of job requests only come once in a few months. I lucked out on this one..." he said and pulled out the piece of paper neatly rolled from his chest pocket.

He gently waved it left and right before the woman, trying to gauge if he had piqued her interest. Of course the last few anonymously placed requests was also taken and accomplished by Zied himself. He had always been on the lookout for these specific kinds of requests. What he held in hand was the actual request form of the rumored high pay, high risk job placed anonymously. If one was to put it in a different term, it was a rare job with a very rewarding payout. But what was Zied thinking when he actually invited someone so out of shape? Perhaps he must be going crazy. Bringing along someone like that would only slow him down. She may be skilled but he does not need a dead weight by his side. Zied then tucked the piece of paper back into his pocket. She was not worth the invitation. At least, not the way she was now...

"It's always a shame to see wasted talent. Well, if you manage to get back into shape in less than a month, perhaps I'll actually consider you as a capable partner." He finished and left the bar, placing his usual amount of twenty ada coins as his tip to the barmaid.

"Now to get me a job... perhaps an assassination request would be perfect..." He mumbled out loud enough for Vardgreig's group to hear.

Normally, an assassination type of job can only be carried out by a captain rank or higher. It would be crazy for a third class to even dream of taking such a job, and suicide to actually go and do one. It's a good thing Zied was only a third class in rank.

Forsaken Wolves IC (RES n ETHEREAL) Empty Re: Forsaken Wolves IC (RES n ETHEREAL)

Post by Rogue.Ember.Shadow Tue Oct 19, 2010 10:27 pm

Her jaw dropped a little at the offer of a job right off the bat. She noticed a few written details on the paper that was wagged in front of her face and then set down a plate of food in front of customer rather roughly. The man jumped but she paid him no mind as she narrowed her eyes at this man's comment of her being out of shape. She wouldn't deny the truth but what really irked her was him assuming she would need less than a MONTH just to get back in shape.

That attitude alone made her want to clobber him with her serving tray until he was a knocked out mess along with the dragged away form of Xalosis a few minutes ago. Strangely enough, Vardgreig had merely turned his nose up to her antics and left the bar without paying, which only added to his nearing four hundred Ada coin bill.

This man however was bringing out an old competitive streak she hadn't felt in a long time. It made her want to go out there and hurt some people who seriously deserved it. Brant praised her on her attitude for justice but other times he wondered if she could really keep that attitude up in their kind of business. She wasn't weak and she was not blind to the bloody demands their trade asked for, but was all she knew (besides knowing how to tap off thirty drinks at a time and some major household cleaning skills).

It seemed she already made the decision before she acknowledged the thought. Holding the round serving tray, she weighed it in her hand and threw it like a Frisbee at the white haired man's head. Not caring if he dodged it or if she was being too outright hostile, she ran after him and put both hands on hips as she neared him, a challenge in her black eyes for him to even try taking her on in the mood she was in. Sure, he had more energy than her but she could still try to take him on. He could see what she could do but that wasn't why she wanted his attention.

"Although it’s really cute you say I can be in shape in five weeks or less, but I personally find that kind of assumption an insult. Give me two weeks and I'll be ready to go on that little job of yours, but I'll make it interesting. Whoever gets it done first gets the entire amount of money, no sharing. What do you say?" she asked, meeting his eyes and smiling a little.

She hadn't felt this excited in a while and despite her pains of the past, it probably wouldn't hurt to get back into active status for a while. Besides, it looks like this guy is used to doing things alone. She didn't want to be too much a bleeding heart but sometimes all it takes is a little companionship to ease a lonely soul. She found that out the hard way thanks to Brant and his wife.

Chuckling for no reason at him, she held out a hand, “and if you're going to offer a job or partnership offer to someone, the least you could do is introduce yourself. My name is Tyth Are you really without manners?"

Tyth knew she was goading him a little too much but if there was one thing she knew about some guys like him, they couldn't ignore a challenge or assumptions of some part of their character after a while. They wanted to prove themselves and from the recent actions of this man, so did he. He wasn't mean or overly indifferent but he had some sort of moral center and that was the part of him she was hoping to reach. However, if he couldn't take a little teasing with good humor, than maybe she was barking up the wrong tree. Still, she couldn't help lecturing this man. She wasn't afraid of him, not after what he did for her with Xalosis. In her own way, this was her thanks but anyone could take how they responded.

Ignoring Seida's faint giggles from behind the bar as Reuth took over busing tables, Tyth titled her head with her eyes flashing in humor as she waited for his reply.

"Well?"

Forsaken Wolves IC (RES n ETHEREAL) Empty Re: Forsaken Wolves IC (RES n ETHEREAL)

Post by Ethereal Tue Oct 19, 2010 11:07 pm

Even with his head turned back against the woman he just invited merely a minute ago, Zied felt a sudden shift in the air coming from behind his head. He got the feeling of being shot by an arrow from his blind side and reflexively swayed his head with minimal effort to the side. Surprisingly, a round dish flew past him barely grazing a loose strand of his hair.

"Heh!" he scoffed with a genuine smile. He just earned himself a rival thanks to his antics earlier.

The woman raced up to block his path towards the guild's request board. Her hands were placed on her hips and her eyes clearly treading on his own. He closed his two-colored eyes and smirked. It would seem that this woman didn't like being looked down upon. Interesting for her to even try to goad him into taking her on.

"You do know you're knocking on death's door right? In any case, I'm sure you do. You don't look half as stupid as that sorry excuse of a meatbag." he said and chuckled very lightly. Never in his life had he been so amused with a person before. "I was being nice enough to give you less than a month to shape up, considering you have softened in some parts of your body. Don't ask how I know, I could tell in one glance that your upper body had become that of a woman who can't fight - not that it doesn't suit you, but as a mercenary you'd only slow me down." he continued.

Turning his body to the left and crossing his arms before his chest, Zied opened his blue eye and looked at her from the corner of it. "But since you wanted to ante things up, here's my condition for you, do it in one week and the money is yours no matter who completes the job first." he concluded. Zied then saw her extend a hand and asked for his name. A trivial matter. Zied only cares about names of his targets and clients. What good would it bring him if he were to give her his name? Nothing. He was not there to make friends after all.

"Tyth huh... Heh! It's a beautiful name, although don't expect me to remember it." Zied said to her as he faced her once more and took one step closer to her. "If you'll excuse me, you're blocking my way." Zied said with a hint of sarcasm.

"Until you have shaped up, we have no business with each other."

Forsaken Wolves IC (RES n ETHEREAL) Empty Re: Forsaken Wolves IC (RES n ETHEREAL)

Post by Rogue.Ember.Shadow Tue Oct 19, 2010 11:45 pm

She was still smiling but it was starting to twitch the longer she heard him talk. With each sentence in her head, she could see herself kicking his ass mile by mile and it was rather satisfying. When he went on and on about her figure going soft, she suddenly thought of him being barbecued over a nice hot fire with her laughing at his tears of fear. These were not her normal thoughts to wish on someone but her adrenaline plus the events concerning her thoughts made it so it fit the mood she was in.

He was impressive in his reflexes and when she did get back in shape, she wondered who would get the upper hand when she got back into her prime. Now that was a fight she might bet her title of being a mere woman on as long as it guaranteed her wiping that stupid, arrogant smirk off his downplaying face!

Imitating his scoff, Tyth mirrored his smirk right back at him, "I've heard all the testosterone filled speeches of whose deadlier, buddy. You don't scare me so quite trying. As for the figure comments, if it weren't so damn true I'd have smacked your for telling that to my face."

What she wouldn't say was that he got a smidgen of respect from her for also completing that little gesture. She still couldn't lay her trust completely bare since he was one of the many enigmas out there.

When she heard him raise the bar even higher, she wondered if she could even get fit enough in a week. Her muscles were only strong by lifting and hefting heavy pounds of glass, wood and water. That still wasn't battle worthy by anyone's standards. Still...

The echoing sounds of painful screams, cursing and clash of metal and fire filled her ears and caused her eyes to become haunted with painful memories. Then she blinked and her resolve was slowing building up again. No, she wouldn't screw up this time.

She could do it. She could attempt it at least. if he thought less of her then that was his problem. Tyth was not a woman to throw a really high bet out there than walk away with cold feet. There was no pride in being a waitress, but there was in being an independent and for sure woman.

When he stepped forward while refusing to give his name, she figured she could at least have the last word. Stepping even closer until their noses were nearly touching and their eyes were staring into each other’s, she gave him a determined stare.

"You're on but let’s not forget who the woman is of the two genders here. What happened to ladies first? You really need to work on your caveman manners," she murmured, blowing the bangs away from his face as a final move and side stepped to his left. Bowing mockingly, she gestured for him to leave then stood up to walk away herself.

Let him simmer on that as she put together her plan on who to get in shape for the next week. Walking confidently back over to the bar where Seida was watching her with a wide-eyed expression, she let her hips swing a little with her sudden cocky attitude.

"Oi, Seida! Could you let the manager know I’m taking a week long break? I have some work to do. If he fires me, then I won't really care."

The blond haired woman nodded and thrust up a fist to cheer her on as she walked away from the bar to the register in the far back where a receptionist was standing by for any questions for newbies, inquiries of members etc.

Nodding a greeting to the woman, she leaned forward and gestured for her to lean closer, "Hi, I'm looking for Scyth Darkil. Can you check for me if he's in the guild or his last known mission? I need to get a hold of him."

Forsaken Wolves IC (RES n ETHEREAL) Empty Re: Forsaken Wolves IC (RES n ETHEREAL)

Post by Ethereal Wed Oct 20, 2010 12:34 am

Manners? No he was never known for that. The only hint of good manners in Zied was to end the life of a target in one swift strike.

When he was sure that Tyth couldn't see his face anymore, Zied smiled softly, showing an emotion within him he rarely experiences, he was genuinely happy. He wasn't exactly sure why but that certain speck of fondness for that woman that was already in him had flared a little more inside him. In all honesty to himself, he respected her more than she actually thinks. He did not fail to listen in on that green-haired old man speak to her. Now eavesdropping was not a habit of his but there was just no way he would miss a conversation held loud enough for him to hear.

People like her and many others that had talent, but just stopped being a mercenary after facing whatever difficulty they faced was something Zied hated the most. There's no such thing as an impossible wall to scale in his beliefs. There's always a way, it's just a matter of finding it. Zied's role this time was to provide the woman with a challenge and piss her off enough to actually bite down on the bait. He shook his head sideways lightly before continuing on to the guild request board. He didn't actually think that getting her back to active duty would go so well on his part. The only problem he was thinking of right now was whether he had said the bar too high.

Regardless, if she does manage to shape up in that given amount of time, he would give her a chunk of his respect. Zied did not bother looking back at Tyth one more time, else he would end up laughing so hard.

Standing before the guild request board, Zied browsed through quite a number of pinned requests looking for a suitable job to completely flush out his irritation. There were others already there browsing before him but he walked before them and stood in front of them, generally blocking their view of the request board.

"Hey third class... outta the way if you know what's good for you." one of them said.

Zied did not care or moved an inch. His eyes had found a perfect job and he's going to take it. When his right hand extended to reach for that assassination request he was craving for, the hand of one man behind him suddenly held his own in place.

"Hey hey! Don't get cocky third class, that's a delicate mission! Haven't you noticed that even the first classes here including us never dare to take it?" the man questioned.

It seems that his actions since he started with this guild quite a few months back had never really been noticed. Perhaps it comes with the rank. Oh well, nobody else seems to even bother checking on a third class' progress reports. If they do check however, They would be surprised to see that Zied's list of completed missions are all of the complicated class and all of them were done solo.

With a swift jerk of his hand that was held by the man, Zied easily freed it from the man's grip followed by a quick motion of both hands down to the side of his legs. Bending both knees slightly, Zied lowered his stance and grabbed the hilts of both katars as he drew his weapons. Followed by a swift turn of his hips to face the men behind him, Zied unleashed two swift upward strokes of the fist blades. At first it seems he just sliced through the air. The others watching the scene fell in awe as the pants of both men voluntarily slid down to the hard floor. His intent was not to kill the men behind him, just to teach them a lesson to stay out of his way from now on.

"Piss me off more than you already did, your pants won't be the only ones falling off." he mumbled silently and snatched the request he earlier aimed for. Five hundred republic dollars for a hit on a gang lord that seems to be harassing someone from the elite society.

"Perfect..."

Forsaken Wolves IC (RES n ETHEREAL) Empty Re: Forsaken Wolves IC (RES n ETHEREAL)

Post by Rogue.Ember.Shadow Wed Oct 20, 2010 3:41 am

It was evening by the time she decided to leave. Looking back to Weishgard, Tyth inhaled a deep breath then let it out slowly. At her right side stood a tall and well-muscled man with long, dark rosy hair pulled back in a braid, which hung down the length of his back. Covering most of his figure was a thin jacket covering his tightly woven shirt and thick-layered pants. On his left ear was single, thin earring hanging down through lose strands of bangs collected on each side of his face.

Staring down at her, he frowned with his dark purple eyes, "You sure about this?"

She turned back to face him and nodded with a determined face, "I'm sure. Let's go."

They both double checked the straps of the heavy bags that were tied to their backs, along with anything else latched onto their person. They would be running a great distance and losing water would be a bad set back.

Leaning forward, she shared one last glance with her partner, Scyth and then bolted forward along the northern road. He kept pace with her easily and she knew it would not be like then when they returned in one week’s time. She would outpace him, if that.

One Week Later

Seida set a steaming plate of food in front of a bluish black haired man who had a rather thin figure complete with thick glasses and a narrow nose. He gave the blond haired barmaid a gentle smile as he thanked her for his meal and slow dug in, savoring the flavors.

"How's Miss Javi doing, hmm?" the barmaid inquired gently as she dried another row of large mugs. It was rather slow this afternoon due to one of the General promotional trials going on all day. Sometimes there would be thunderous cheers being heard through the floor from the chambers several layers below.

Swallowing his food, the man shook his loose, shoulder length hair away his right sided lens and chuckled, "She can't wait for me to come home and spend some family alone time. I told her I would be there by the end of the month once I settled some issues in town. Are you sure today was it?"

Raising a brow with a playful frown, Seida pursed her lips together, "You doubt my information source, General? Just because you have some better quality circles then I doesn't mean it would be any less reliable! Of course I'm sure!"

He waved his hands rather frantically with a large smile on his face and he shook his head wildly until she burst into giggles, "I didn't mean to doubt you, my dear! I just didn't want to miss this chance since I'm still in shock when I was told the news a week ago. I wanted to see for myself, you know?"

The barmaid was about to reply when the guild doors opened to let in three figures. Looking up, both the blond and the black haired man turned towards the newcomers with an interested gaze. As the three came forward into the light, both of them smiled huge in happiness.

Of the trio to appear first, two men walked in front with slow but intimidating steps. The farther right was a large man with three long scars decorating his youthful face. At six foot four, he towered over many as his bright white eyes took in everything he saw with only several sweeps of his gaze. His cropped orange hair was only an inch long and the few strands at the base of his neck were shaved away. His large trench coat failed to hide the bulk of his well-muscled form as he thrust his large hands into his huge pockets.

To his left strode a very handsome man with long deep rosy colored hair pulled back into a tight ponytail at the back of his head. His narrowed purple eyes were half lidded due to the black shadows under his eyes form lack of sleep and utter exhaustion. His thin, long jacket swayed around his legs as he kept pace with his partner. Rolling his shoulders, he ignored the few customers in the bar's seating area as he kept his gaze narrowed on the thin, glasses wearing man seated at the bar.

When the two men and their last partner stopped right in front of the bespectacled, man, they each took a step aside to show whom they were escorting inside. Seida gasped aloud and immediately covered her mouth as her eyes grew wide at the person standing in front of her. The man at her left adjusted his glasses for a second and then smiled warmly to himself.

Standing there with her hip length silver and blue hair down and loose around her shoulders stood none other than Tyth. Under her heavy leather and metal long coat she wore a thick and low, v shaped tank top the color of blood. Around her hips was a thick, metal studded belt with several long pieces of stone decorations molded into it. Tight figure hugging pants were plastered to her now shapely legs followed by black, knee high, heavy steel toed boots strapped just below the bends of her knees. On each of her slim looking wrist were thick metal bracelets that would have been chaffing her skin had in not been for the thick fingerless gloves wrapped around the palms of her hands.

To say the former waitress looked different was a definite understatement. Seida was already jogging around the bar just to see her friend up close and to make sure it really was her.

"Hi Seida," the black eyed woman greeted as she was suddenly enveloped in the blonde’s arms.

"You look so different!" the barmaid gasped as she circled her friend and took in all her dark and heavy looking clothing. Tyth merely shrugged and gave Seida a one armed hug before stepped past her to the man sitting at the bar.

"Hiya Pops," she murmured to the man who never stopped smiling since they entered the guild.

"Welcome back, Tythlany." he replied as she leaned forward to wrap her around his narrow shoulders, "I'm glad to see you actually smiling again. We didn't like seeing you look so morose working back in this drably bar."

"Hey!" Seida scolded while smacking the man's arm as she made her back behind to bar to take some customer's money," that was uncalled for Brant. I happen to like this bar."

"I think you are one of the few, my dear," he joked back as his former student and partner pulled back to shake her head at him.

"I miss your humor Pops. I'll have to go visit you, Javi and Fury sometime. I miss the food mostly though."

He nodded while reaching into the inner side pocket of his over coat. She smiled as she looked over to Scyth and Kanis whom were old training friends of hers back when they all were students of Brant's. They all went through the same grueling sessions together and even took a few missions before going their separate ways. Kanis reached a large meaty hand forward to grasp the folded piece of paper Brant was holding out to him. He nodded his thanks, ruffled her hair and nudged Scyth's arm gently on his way back out of the guild.

Seida frowned as she started piling food onto another set of plates, "He's not staying? I cooked enough for an entire army!"

Shaking his head as he took one seat away from Brant as Tyth took the seat between the two men, Scyth loosened his jacket away from his body.

"Kanis is on his way to another mission so he wouldn't have stayed anyway. We'll eat his share though," the young man said while winking at the barmaid roguishly. Not bothering to hide her blush of good humor, Seida chuckled as she served him and Tyth at the same time. Folding her arms on the bar in front of her friend, she watched Tyth eat for several minutes before finally asking the questions.

"Hunny, I don't mean to be nosy but isn't that outfit a little revealing even for your tastes?"

Swallowing, Tyth washed it down with some water and then began laughing.

"You're right about that, Seida but this isn't really an outfit for fashion."

The blonde’s look of confusion only made the white haired woman laugh harder. Brant decided to supply the answer.

"It’s a training suit."

It wasn't a breath later, along with a few loud chewing sounds from the two hungry mercenaries that Seida finally replied.

"WHAT?!"

Brant chuckled good naturally as he pushed his glasses back up his nose while he explained. “All that heavy, thick metal and fabric she's wearing? All weights to build up muscle and stamina over a short amount of time. The revealing shirt and lack of sleeves help with sweat and ventilation on her body to suit her gender. Men usually don't even bother wearing shirts when training my style. The only thin pieces she wears that don't have to do with training are probably her undergarments, if she's wearing any."

Tyth glared at her old teacher but kept eating as if her life depended on it. Pretty soon her and Scyth her urging Seida for seconds after the barmaid got over her shock.

"I know it sounds barbaric Seida, but I needed to build up what I could with what little time I had. Besides I trained like this before. And yes, I have undergarments on, yeesh."

As they continued to laugh and talk, Tyth took in these three people and the atmosphere they created. It felt comfortable and safe. Just sitting down by her old teacher who looked nothing like his reputation painted him as filled her with contentment. If anything, he looked like a toothpick that anyone could break by just slapping him but she knew a helluva lot better. She could never beat him in a serious fight and despite his appearance, neither could many who tried facing him. He usually was off from home fighting restricted jobs that were not posted on the boards but sent to General class or higher mercenaries in pearly white envelopes and sealed with the wax imprint of the Forsaken Wolves insignia by the Meister himself.

She almost felt at home. Still, it never ceased bugging her. The question that kept pulsing at the forefront of her mind ever since she entered Weishgard an hour ago.

Where was he? Her white haired "savior"?

Forsaken Wolves IC (RES n ETHEREAL) Empty Re: Forsaken Wolves IC (RES n ETHEREAL)

Post by Ethereal Wed Oct 20, 2010 8:42 am

A week's time had passed since he completed the assassination request he took. Details of the job was a gory one and was definitely not the kind of story to be shared with someone who has a weak heart or stomach. Nonetheless, Zied was not the type who shared stories anyway. He managed to have completed it and miraculously came out alive. The gang itself was bigger than he anticipated but he managed to somehow slay the majority, including the leader who provided him with an interesting battle. The result of that battle was a wounded left arm and which was already in the process of healing for a week's time now and a ruined upper garment.

It was a long way back to Wieshgard but Zied did not expect to encounter an ambush from the remnants of the gang he just destroyed. Ever since he stepped foot in town, his katar was drawn by his good arm and he had been using it to parry, launch a counter or simply jab at his attackers who were using spears. He was at a disadvantage having one arm wounded and a much greater disadvantage for preferring to use his weapon with a range nearly close to that of a fist fighter. What's wrong with that? To Zied there was absolutely nothing wrong about it. Having a short-range weapon preference only signified the user's skill.

Six of them, or at least that was his count of the people who tried to impale him with a spear. Crowds were pushed back to the sides of the street as steel against steel clashed with each other. Gasps and horrified shrieks filled the busy afternoon street of Wieshgard as Zied and those who had a grudge against him battled under the sun. If he was being pressured or not can't be seen on his face as he gracefully swayed through a flurry of stabs. If he was being reckless could not be seen as he weaved through spear slashes with ease. If he was being serious or not can't be seen through his half-hearted jabs at his opponents. What was he really thinking for dragging out a battle this long and allowing himself to be pushed back?

It was simple. A man's Circle of Life is only ever so small. Having multiple attackers aiming to kill one from all sides would only make it smaller. A good reflex training if you don't get killed in the process.

Zied was immersed with the fight on his plate. There was no doubt about him being serious in any battle he has on his hands. The loud battle cries of his attackers paired with their swears and threats of mutilating Zied filled the streets until they were already close to the Forsaken Wolves' guild building. Time was running out for Zied's attackers. In his mind, once he reached the guild's doors, he would end the fight and get himself a good drink. Today was the last day of his free drinks privilege after all. It would be a shame to let it go to waste.

"You're dead you hear that maggot!" shouted the man who seemed to be the small band's acting leader. True, he held a significant amount of skill with the spear. There were a lot of times when Zied felt his spear's blade touch or probably slice through a small amount of his hair. Had Zied been a little bit slower - no, had the man been a little bit faster, he would have caught Zied and would have managed to land a critical blow. Too bad fate was cruel, too bad experience was something Zied had far more than his attackers do. A shame for him to have to end the battle soon. He had fun playing with their anger for a while.

The disturbing flow of their battle came to a halt as Zied stood his ground before the guild's large wooden doors. Of course, the two men who always guarded the doors were there. Zied would have been more happy if they would join in and help his attackers take him out. Well, he had been dreaming of someday slashing their throats for being dickheads. Regardless, he wouldn't mind additional opponents just for the fun of it. He had no plans of taking one more step back from his attackers. Zied had arrived at his destination and playtime is over.

Then came a rain of spear stabs from three of his attackers up front. With a quick swaying and weaving motion, Zied almost barely evaded them all and just as soon as he came up from a sway, he raised his good arm to block an overhead spear slash coming in from his right. When their weapons clashed, Zied immediately snaked his good arm down the length of the spear and took a good hold of it while he planted his right footing firmly and strongly on the hard cobble ground allowing him to block another overhead spear slash coming in at high speed from the left using his own left foot. Zied stopped the spear using the metal sole of his left boot just in time for him to see and prepare for another attack coming at him. If his left arm was not wounded, he could have used it to grab the thrusting spear that was sharply coming at him from his back. Instead, Zied kicked away the spear he blocked with his left foot and as soon as his left foot landed back on hard ground, he shifted his weight to it, planting it firmly on the ground so he could set up using his right foot.

Zied launched a half moon kick to change the incoming spear thrust from his back followed by a strong tug and pull of the spear he held in his right hand. Using all the arm strength he had on his right arm, Zied pulled the spear's owner to the path of another rain of spear stabs that was again coming in quick from his front. The end result was the three up front managed to kill one of their own in the heat of the moment. It was rather a tedious way of clearing one opponent but that just shows how complicated it was to be fighting multiple opponents at the same time. There was a momentary pause from the battle when one of Zied's attackers fell lifeless and full of holes on the hard ground.

"What? That all you got?" Zied mocked as he discarded his katar and finally unsheathed his oriental sword. He rarely uses this and every single time he does, it ends up bloody. Having no teacher of any sort, it took Zied several years of extensive practice to master using the oriental sword in his own style, he named it death's door. Normally, he would need both arms to flawlessly execute his attack patterns but given his left arm's wounded state, he would have to fight at half of his full capacity. The air was tense, and the pressure coming from Zied was soaring to ridiculous levels. Heaves of heavy breaths came in from his attackers while Zied calmly took his stance. They were hesitating and it does not bode well for them, starting from the man behind him.

Bending his knees a little bit more than he used to, Zied mustered all the leg strength he could gather and twisted his torso to slightly face the man behind him while keeping the rest of them in the corner of his blue eye. What good would it do him if he let them catch their breath? Nothing. "Die..." Zied said as he kicked the ground, launching the rest of his person towards the man who was pestering him from behind. The man was rattled at first by Zied's sudden speedy burst towards him but managed to at least put up his spear in an attempt to slow him down but to no avail. Zied simply slashed at the man's spear with enough force to send the spearhead to the ground. The man indeed managed to guard his opening for an instant but his lack of focus and arm strength led to Zied slashing through his neck. The second man from Zied's attackers fell in two pieces causing the others to slightly tremble.

Their anger was not enough to hide what the rest of them are feeling. Zied could see it in their eyes as he stared at them. They weren't professional killers like him, and the sun was already setting. Plus, he did not like the idea of showing the two who guarded the doors of the guild how much he can do in a fight. Perhaps it was foolish for someone with a sword to charge four people with spears, but Zied is not just someone with a sword. He is someone who can put that sword to nearly masterful use. Without further words and a bored look in his eyes, Zied rushed towards his attackers, sword on the ready.

As he neared his first target, Zied ducked down to avoid the stab and slashed down low to where the man held his balance. A loud scream of pain escaped the man's lips when he realized that he was deprived by Zied of his ability to stand. Coming back up from his crouching stance, Zied pulled his sword back just in time to block an overhead leap slash from another attacker. Zied's knees buckled a little at the impact of their weapons but he stayed strong, using the rising momentum to push back the man's spear followed by a quick roundhouse kick to the man's midsection. He managed to knock him off balance and duck just in time to avoid another stab from a different attacker. Zied was focused, one at a time. He was out for blood and any opening he created will not go to waste. Upon ducking, Zied immediately bended his knees and launched himself forward again with a kick-start from the hard cobble ground. His target was the man he kicked off-balance. He wasn't feeling generous to even allow him a second of rest. Pulling his sword from the shallow stance, Zied launched an upward slash with his sword. Although the man managed to hold the spear in a defensive position, Zied's sword was out to kill. The adrenaline he had and the irritation, fueled by his desire to be able to finally sit down and have a drink allowed him to slash through spear and man at the same time.

His attackers are falling one by one and their little rumble had gathered quite a crowd. It was also one of the factors why he wanted to end the fight quickly. He never did liked the idea of having a lot of people watch him fight. Hell, if he knew better, their battle might have already attracted the attention of those who were already having fun inside the guild bar. But to hell with them all! Sooner or later, after two more dead men, he would be joining the others in the bar with his own little space and that refreshing drink.

As soon as Zied recovered from his last attack, he shifted his attention to the one who tried a sneaky stab at him. He was not much of a fighter and Zied only needed to grab a hold of his spear and slash him down. It was a bloody mess already and he knew that it would be the people's jobs to clean this mess up. Regardless, he was distracted for a moment and that caused him to get stabbed at his already wounded left arm. Zied's facial expression changed to a wince of pain. The last of his attacker was the most skilled one. True, he should have taken care of him first but where's the fun in ending the battle by killing someone weak? Angered by being wounded again at the part of his body he was trying to heal, Zied twisted his left arm free from the spearhead that punctured it and used the same arm to grab hold of the spear and pull the owner closer with all his might. All that was needed for him to do was to lunge forward as he pulled the man who held the spear closer to him. With a final slash of his blade, the battle was over. He swished the bloodstain off from his sword and sheathed it back, leaving one incapacitated man alive to slowly bleed out and die on the street.

With a bleeding left arm for the second time, Zied made his way to the Guild's doors where the two men stood on guard duty. No words were said, just them opening the doors of the guild for Zied like they usually do. They did not ask for his identification however, and that made Zied scoff.

"Hmph... morons." he said as he walked briskly towards the guild bar to his usual place. He was tired and bleeding. A good drink would surely help while he tries to patch up his wounded arm.

Forsaken Wolves IC (RES n ETHEREAL) Empty Re: Forsaken Wolves IC (RES n ETHEREAL)

Post by Rogue.Ember.Shadow Wed Oct 20, 2010 8:35 pm

After a half an hour of talking and sipping on warm drinks from Seida, Brant decided he wanted to sing of all things before departing the guild. He didn't want to be recognized by the large group that was sure to return from the trials down below. However, he felt like celebrating his former student's new active status as a mercenary thanks to him pulling some strings in getting the paperwork done within less than a week's time. Now he sat on a single stool on the higher platform that was usually covered with tables near the large windows in the seating area, strumming on a worn, wooden guitar as his two students danced in the cleared area in front of him.

His voice was low but had a decent enough tenor for the song he decided was amusing enough for them to dance to since it had a waltz like tempo. After singing the first versus along with the chorus, he tilted his head to the side as he could faintly make out the ringing sounds of metal hitting metal. The sound was a signature for a battle going on but he didn't care to much to pin point the location since he still had the rest of the song to sing.

"Get someone who'll listen, or might give a damn
Maybe one of your stupid affairs
But don't you come 'round here handin' me none of your lies
Here's a sterling, get someone who cares"

As he sang while strumming to each slow verse, Tyth was waltzing around the tables with Scyth at her side. Their legs were in almost perfect sync with each other had it not been for tables and chairs they had to weave around in order to stay near the other. Seida was leaning on her folded hands watching them with a smile, enjoying the music when she noticed someone heading over to a certain place at the end of her bar. Already she could smell the blood and reached down for the personalized kit she had made just for him. Walking over, she set the extra bandages and medicine filled box down in front of him, along with a tall order of liquor with some crushed painkillers mixed in for his pain.

She didn't bother saying anything since she knew he wouldn't let her bind his wounds. However, she stood there looking back over to Tyth as she danced around her friend to their teacher's music. What really made it so interested in watching was that although they danced so well, they both were wearing such heavy clothing and their eyes were closed of all things. Ever since they started waltzing around her tables, their eyelids had been shut the entire time under her hawk-like gaze and it made her not stop watching since they made it look so effortless in their movements. Humming along with the song after hearing the chorus sung the first time, Seida sang along with Brant as he hit the next verse while tapping his foot to his music.

"Girl, I thought what we had could never turn bad
So your leavin' caught me unaware
But the fact is you've run...hun, that can't be undone
Here's a sterling, get someone who cares"

Tyth smiled to herself as she used her hearing and other senses to pinpoint the exact location of the table and its surrounding chairs as she brushed her fingertips against one of the chair's edge before twirling slowly around it to meet Scyth's warm outstretched hand. Before they even started, Brant had told them to take in the entire area in one glance before closing their eyes in order to test their memorization skills. They had trained like this so many times in the dense woods with only a bandanna and their comrades’ voices to alert them before falling down into premade dug holes or stubbing their noses against trees at the first break of morning. She felt like she was training again, even though this was mainly for fun and was elated to find it was easier then when she kept failing all those years ago. Scyth was actually better at this then her since he made sure to nudge her around any chairs she might have been on her way to stepping into. This was also an exercise to test the trust between two comrades and she could always count on her favorite, Scyth.

"Here's a sterling, get someone who cares"*

As the last of the verse was drawn out, Scyth twirled her around and then dipped her suddenly backwards, causing a surprised yelp to bubble up her throat. After a few seconds of being held there, both mercenaries opened their eyes at the time to smile at each other. They had stopped dancing at dead center of the room with all the rearranged tables surrounding them in a near perfect circle.

Clapping wildly near her white haired customer, Seida cheered loudly as the two walked over to their old teacher to bid him farewell.

Smiling back at Brant, she accepted his peck on her forehead along his hug as he laid the guitar down and nodded to Scyth. They both told her once she came back into town, that they were to depart together not long after. When she glanced over to her friend behind the bar, she frowned when the woman pointed over to the man whom was tending to his wounds. Sure she had smelled blood not long ago when they were dancing but she ignored it to keep concentrating. It never made Scyth stop tensing when the smell hit him too until the last strum from the guitar echoed away. It was then she noticed just how the man was dressed and as she too a few steps forward that she could see his face that she knew who it was.

It was him.

Standing behind her while pulling his heavy bag over his shoulder once more, Scyth bent over her left shoulder to follow her gaze and looked at the man as well.

"That him?" he asked, resting the edge of his chin against her shoulder.

"Yeah. Be safe, Scyth."He took one analyzing glance at the men when he smiled against his friend's hair. From the looks of the white haired mercenary, he was one of those loner, untamed kind of guys who were rather unpredictable at best. He didn't doubt Tyth could take care of herself but it didn't hurt to warn her in being careful.

Hugging her with one around her shoulders, Scyth gave her a mocking grin as he bid her later. Tyth waved bye as Brant and Scyth walked out the front entrance and she turned towards the man she had taken such high stakes from. In the past week, she had Scyth put her though her old training routine but at a pace that would bring faster results due to the suit and dishing it when there was only light to see by, which was almost all day. She still wasn't at a decent prime like before, but she could definitely deliver a crushing punch that would hurt for a long time after she delivered it. She wasn't going to go all into how her abilities were near invincible but that she could at least fight light a decent ranked mercenary and not worry about falling backwards from a lame punch. That incident with Xalosis left a sour taste in her mouth, reminding her a weak version of her that seriously annoyed her.

Sitting down right by him, she reached for her topped off fizzy juice with a sliver of liquor that Seida slid over and just silently watched him. He was taking care of wounds and from the looks of his arm, it seemed to be a puncture wound of some sort. Sipping her drink, she just watched him, knowing he knew who she was and didn't bother to speak for a little bit. It was probably better if he said the first words since he was the one being in charge and she was dishing with what he said. A strange setup even for her, but here she was and it was his call.

Crossing one long leg over the other, she turned to her drink and took another sip, waiting.
-
Meanwhile, standing in front of the guild doors between the two guards stood Brant and Scyth, looking down at the bloody mess at their feet. After a few blinks of his purple reddish eyes, the General stepped past the corpses and continued on his way, his old student at his heels. Watching the bodies pass them by until they were several feet away from scene, Scyth met his teacher's pace until they were in harmony with each step.

"Should we go back and make sure she's okay? It’s obvious he did that," the black haired young man said as he sent one last glance at the guild and its guards who were starting to clean the bloody mess up.

Brant merely shook his head, pushing his glasses back up his sweaty nose, "No, Tyth is fine. He will be a tough cookie for her to get along with, but whatever they have going on is none of our concern unless she asks for help. Let her be."

Biting down on the other end of a long bandage, Zied expertly wrapped his wound in a matter of minutes. He had used the first half of the liquor placed before him as a disinfectant and chugged the rest that was left in the mug. A stain of red immediately dirtied his newly bandaged wound as it kept on bleeding. Shrugging the pain aside, Zied finally relaxed his shoulders. He was used to being wounded, though the spearhead punctured his left arm pretty deep, he would still classify it as a scratch even though it almost rendered his left arm useless.

"Seems like you're having fun..." He said out of the blue after placing twenty republic dollars inside the medical kit and clearing the tools he used to treat his wound. He was not expecting any reply of the sort. He only meant to break the ice between him and the woman who was watching him like a hawk while he treated his injured arm. Zied closed his eyes and heaved a deep sigh of relief. It had been a terribly long day for him and finding himself seating on the very same place that felt like home to him once more was indeed a very refreshing feeling.

He leaned his head back and closed his eyes for a long time without saying a word. His breathing was calm and contented. The sound of battles being fought from downstairs and the sound of Seida cleaning her bar were the only things he focused on.

"Hey, take a look at this." He said and pulled out the anonymous request he showed her a week ago. Zied slowly slid the piece of paper on the bar surface towards Tyth. Regardless of having his own issues to deal with, Zied did not fail to notice that Tyth had greatly improved since the last time he saw her. Of course, he was not going to praise her for the effort she put into getting back to shape, Zied would just keep his thoughts to himself.

"Seven heads to dispose of, all belonging to the elites and have one thing in common; they all own businesses tied with weapons production. They are heavily guarded day and night. These people also hire the best pair of mercenaries from different guilds to act as their personal bodyguards at all times. Five thousand republic dollars for each head, an additional ten thousand if completed before the deadline, which is three weeks from now." Zied finished and tilted his head to take a look at Tyth.

"Are you up for it or are you all for show?"

Forsaken Wolves IC (RES n ETHEREAL) Empty Re: Forsaken Wolves IC (RES n ETHEREAL)

Post by Rogue.Ember.Shadow Wed Oct 20, 2010 11:07 pm

'Of course she had fun' she thought sarcastically as she rolled her eyes upward to the ceiling after he spoke. She personally felt it took a real man to treat a woman decently and despite his perverted teasing jokes, Scyth was a gentlemen at the end of the day and steadfast comrade in a battle.

Tyth raised a mocking eyebrow at him when he asked if she was all for show, but figured it was just him being his usual self. She compared his words to the taunts he threw at her a week ago, and decided it was just a man being an arrogant, moody man. She dealt with enough of them to know to let them stew for a while in their own sense of self victory.

Setting her drink down slowly, she silently but gently slid the paper closer to her and began reading the words he told her bu. This kind of job, this request was......dangerous. From what she heard when she asked for Scyth's whereabouts a week ago, she found out he was a Third Class who took upper ranked missions.

His skill was very impressive but his attitude still irked her, but not enough to get her to get overly excited like before. Tyth made sure she took out all her pent up stress, frustration and all the feelings she held back since her last mission out on Scyth ,who she knew could take it. It was a decision she made if she was going to be able to deal with this man that she had to make sure she head a calm head.

Pushing the tip of her pinking nail under the paper, she flicked her pinky and sent the piece of paper back to him.

"I'll go," she said quietly, reaching for her glass to take another sip,” but I will need to know when you plan on going and to give me time to get ready."

She wasn't going to goad him on for a while like before either. She would be calm and collected until he really decided to do something that pricked her temper. This was her first job in two years and she was going to do things right, even if the person she was completing it with was an outright ass who didn't have manners or decent integrity. She would say that to his face had it not been for the faint headache she got from not drinking water in a while. Not to mention a snide comment like that would probably get him irritated and then they would be back at square one where she was throwing round serving trays at his head.

Pulling the fizz to her lips, she gulped over half of it down to quench her thirst and licked at the remaining bubbly fizz at the corner of her mouth with a quick flick of her tongue. Seida's eyes were shining with amusement as she asked if either wanted a refill and Tyth slowly pushed her near empty glass closer to the barmaid.

"You know my name, so please use it. Since you won't give me yours, I'll just call you Rayth."

Not bothering to wait for him to reply, she paid her giggling friend with three Adamantine coins and stood up from her seat. She really wanted a nice hot long bath and to change out of this suit. It may have looked stylish and intimidating but it wasn't an outfit she was comfortable in wearing. Besides, if she took off all the seventy pounds of weights then she would be able to respond to anything faster than with the weights on.

Stepping past "Rayth" until they were shoulder to shoulder, she paused to meet his eyes and held the gaze. In her own way, she was showing him she wouldn't be underestimated and that she would not be some hot headed idiot who was trying to show him up.

Tyth wasn't agreeing with joining him because he offered. No, she was doing this for herself. She had her own demons to get over and she couldn't do that wasting away in this bar. In a way she should thank him for motivating her in moving on when she realized this the third day she left, but she wasn't going to do that just yet.

The very least, she could see him treat someone with some degree of respect. He never insulted or hurt Seida's feelings when he was served at the bar but that wasn't what she was looking for.

'At least I got the last word', Tyth thought as she moved away from him. In a way, him being riled up was a bit amusing for her to watch. Smiling a little, she stretched her hands high above her head and waved one hand as a good night to Seida.

"Night, Tyth!" Seida said as she waved a dirty dishrag she used for wiping down the surface of the bar.

Forsaken Wolves IC (RES n ETHEREAL) Empty Re: Forsaken Wolves IC (RES n ETHEREAL)

Post by Ethereal Thu Oct 21, 2010 12:03 am

Now this woman decided to play with his name. Although he didn't mind whatever people would call him, he wanted this specific woman to address him by his real name. He took the piece of paper she slid back to him and neatly rolled it before tucking in back to his chest pocket.

Zied slowly raised a brow as the woman stood up from her seat. She was a completely changed person in just after a week. Amused, Zied stared at her as she stopped and gazed into his eyes. She was acting all professional after saying that she will go with him without hesitation. She stepped away but when Zied heard Seida bid her friend goodnight, Zied's face turned from calm to sour. Goodnight? The hell was she thinking? With a quick extension of his good arm, Zied managed to grab a hold of the woman's wrist just before she escaped his reach.

Zied's grip was neither too weak, nor too strong to hurt her. He stood up from his seat and yanked her gently, forcing her to face him while drawing their bodies closer to each other, nearly an inch away for their persons to graze each other. His eyes were fierce yet not in a threatening way as he gazed into her own. He could feel her warmth and her soft breath brushing against his chest as he stood there holding her in place. He was silent for a moment, as if contemplating on what to say, but his intention was to see how she would react. Then with the passing of five more seconds, Zied broke the silence.

"Your gaze has changed. It's not as weak like the last time I saw it." he said without letting go of her wrist. "You wanted me to tell you when I plan to leave for this mission right?" he asked followed by a crooked smile. "I'll give you five minutes to get ready. We're leaving." he finished and slowly let her wrist go, loosening one finger at a time.

He was tired, that was the truth, and a good night's rest was the first thing he needed, but this woman never ceased to amuse him. Stepping to her side, Zied leaned closer to her ear and whispered.

"Zied Gray, not Rayth... remember that Tythlany Nightfox." he finished and gently blew a short breath to her ear followed by a chuckle as he walked away from her, heading towards the guild's exit.

Of course, Zied did his homework about her. Although he wouldn't say it out straight to her face, he had his eye on her ever since he took this request. IT was true that there were plenty of talented mercenaries within the Forsaken Wolves but Zied knows real talent when he sees one. Perhaps it was a sort of sixth sense he had developed from working alone for a long time; to be able to gauge people just by looking at them.

Now more pressing matters came into Zied's mind. His main weapons were out of shape and there was only one person he knows that could help him get them back to shape. It would be a long and dangerous trek to a secluded forest since his main weapon was one of a kind in these parts of the land. Zied wondered if the old man was still alive. He scoffed at his own thought. He knew that man was as resilient as a cockroach and there was just no chance of him dying that easily.

Pushing the doors aside, Zied looked back to Tyth once more.

"Five minutes, I don't like waiting."

Come to think of it, his clothing was not in the best of shape too. The cold would be a problem to deal with since they would be moving in the night. Too bad the tailors in Weishgard only sold clothing that doesn't suit his taste. Perhaps he would leave shopping for clothes until they reach the next town, where he was rather popular when he was still a freelance mercenary. Of course, that would be done after they take care of his weapons first.

Forsaken Wolves IC (RES n ETHEREAL) Empty Re: Forsaken Wolves IC (RES n ETHEREAL)

Post by Rogue.Ember.Shadow Thu Oct 21, 2010 1:21 am

She tensed up once he grabbed her wrist but when he put himself in her personally bubble of space and just stared down at her, she was thinking he had some serious balls to treat her like this!

Struggling to keep her calm demeanor and face impassive, Tyth breathed slowly through her nose as he mentioned she had five minutes to get ready. Was it just her or was he getting a kick out of her making her rush around just because he said so?!

His hand felt really warm on her wrist and she was itching to throw it off but then he leaned down to her ear and blew across it, making her twitch. She pressed her lips closer together as she focused on breathing as he spoke her name and walked past, all the while rooting herself to the spot. He must of been getting her back for blowing in his face a week ago, the bastard!

Once she heard the guild door close, she clenched her fists tightly closed and began to breathe a little faster. Seida was staring at her but Tyth was staring past her as she forced herself not to lose control of herself. Concentrating on the air going through her nose, into her lungs and out her mouth, the white and blue haired woman closed her eyes.

In her mind, she visualized herself and Zied when he had just finished blowing across her ear. She decided to snap by twisting her hand free from his annoying grip and clench tightly at his throat. Noticing the shock in his eyes, she smirked and lifted her right knee to press dig it hard into his stomach. When she heard the amusing loss of breath, she twisted around his left side to use the heel of her heavy boot to kick into the back of his knee and force him backwards by pressing back on his throat. She then send him hard onto the floor, hard enough to hear a nice please bam! when his head hit-

"Tyth?" Seida's voice filtered through the buzzing static in Tyth's ears and her black eyes snapped open. The barmaid was leaning over the bar with a worried expression on her face.

It was then she realized her time was ticking. Although she was curious to know what he would do if she didn't arrive out there in five minutes, Tyth decided to jump over the bar to the backroom where she left her bag a week ago. She always brought a change of clothes for emergencies and tugged the bag open to shift inside for her clothes. A shirt, a change of pants, undergarments all the basic necessities were accounted for.

She could already hear voices coming up the stairs from the chambers down below. Cursing as that meant the Promotional Trial was over, it also meant many were going to go for a drink. Seida seemed to realize this too as she pulled the curtain closed over the backroom to give her friend some privacy as the new waitress, Aldean rushed forward to grab her apron for the upcoming rush. Leaning over, the barmaid warned the waitress to avoid the backroom for a few minutes and got no arguments as the pink haired girl hit the serving floor with a flair of her bouncy hair.

Pulling her heavy long coat off, Tyth then shrugged out of her shirt and discarded everything as fast as she could. When she was finished hurriedly tugging on her knitted shirt with flowing sleeves over her chest and jeans with tied sides that ended at mid-thigh, she decided to leave her suit in the backroom knowing Seida would take good care of it.

Stuffing everything else into her bag, Tyth slung it over her shoulder and bolted through the curtain, heaved herself over the bar between two just seated newcomers and jogged for the front door. She didn't know the extent of her speed and strength now that she wasn't wearing her weights but she wasn't going to risk paying out of pocket for possibly breaking the guild's door into pieces.

Pushing it open, she ran outside and hoping to find Zied since he didn't guarantee in waiting for her. She wasn't sure how long it was but it had to have been seven minutes at least. That turd seemed to enjoy making her rush around.

Tythlany didn't have to do this job with him, but he had irked her too much for her pride to let him get away from her now! Ignoring the phantom warmth around her wrist, she passed through the entryway and reached back to tie her loose hair back into a braid, while looking side to side for her new partner.

Was he always going to disappear on her?!

Forsaken Wolves IC (RES n ETHEREAL) Empty Re: Forsaken Wolves IC (RES n ETHEREAL)

"What kind of an idiot are you? Bird class or fish class?" Zied asked her as he saw her bolt out of the door in a hurried pace. Her head was swinging all over the place looking for him when he was just there, resting his tired body by the guild building's wall. She shot herself forward too much into the street. Perhaps it was the fruit of her training. Perfect! He needed a partner who can keep up with his speed.

"Heh! Nevermind..." Zied said and stretched his arms as he pushed himself off of the wall. She's going to be irritated, that's for sure but Zied was already one step ahead of her. "Next time, don't just go around following orders like a pawn. You're a mercenary for crying out loud..." he added and avoided her eyes as he began to walk the cobble path leading outside Weishgard.

His walking pace was considerably slower than when he was alone. Half of the reason for it was because he was physically exhausted and that they have a cold night to deal with. "I can see it in your eyes that you want to kick my ass." he said as he walked past her. "It's the right attitude to have as a mercenary. When someone pisses you off, kick their ass. I need you to think and act like a mercenary from now on. I'm not ordering you to do it but don't blame me if you get killed for being soft and naive."

Zied didn't know why but he was talking more than usual, and there was this slight uneasy feeling that lingered in the pit of his stomach. Could it be? Could it be that he was actually worried for this woman? He has to be, why else would he give her advice? Zied could not think of any other reason and that made him chuckle again. "A third class lecturing a captain... now that's a rich story." he mumbled mostly to himself while shaking his head sideways.

The night was indeed cold and it was getting colder by the minute. If only his coat was not so torn up from the week long fighting he had to go through, the cold wouldn't be a problem for him. Checking on how tattered his outer clothing was, Zied decided to just get rid of his coat until he could buy another one from the next town. Tossing the coat to the side of the street, Zied revealed the length of his well-toned arms, the dragon tatoo on his right shoulder and the numerous battle scars in both arms for Tyth to see.

Not that he was expecting any sort of comment from Tyth. He just wanted her to realize that the mission they took is not a game. If Tyth wouldn't listen to his words, then perhaps his arms would serve as an example and speak for himself. Zied however, hoped that the message was sent to his partner that if she didn't start acting like a real mercenary, a lot of bad things could happen.

Now wearing only a black sleeveless shirt as his upper clothing, Zied felt the harshness of a cool night breeze. Given their current situation, they could probably trek for three hours more before they would need to set up camp to rest. Of course, they'll be setting up camp near the forest entrance which would be their first destination.

"I need to visit a few friends of mine before we truly set out for our mission. You are welcome to go on without me or follow me to where I'm going. It's your call."

Forsaken Wolves IC (RES n ETHEREAL) Empty Re: Forsaken Wolves IC (RES n ETHEREAL)

She ignored his snarly barbs at her running around as she finished braiding her long hair and tying it off. It was his fault for having her run around like a chicken with no head anyways. Rolling her eye upward wondered if the world was making her pay for the few things she did to this guy by having him inadvertently causing them back at her. It spoke volumes of his character if it somehow wasn't.

Making sure to grab her other bag that held her weapons from the storekeeper she stored it outside the guild, she thanked the man by flicking him an Ada coin and jogging to keep up with Zied.

When he took off his jacket and showed his skin for all the world to see, she took in the condition of his arms and her eyes grew a little sad. He had been through many battles and survived. He had experience and by the way he was talking to her, it made her wonder just who was the more experienced here? Ranks aside, he had been fighting for a while and she hadn't but still, the odds were there.

She was very interested in the dragon tattoo however. She craned her neck to look at it and absorb the detail through her dark eyes. When he moved that arm, the muscles rippled and caused the dragon to move which made her smile a bit. Cute.

As she neared his back after him taking the jacket off, she figured to follow her urge and pressed cool fingers on his skin, touching the tattoo. She felt the muscles clench this time, not move and knew she had taken him by surprise.

"I'll follow you," she said and looked up into his face after he asked his question. It wasn't fierce looking like earlier but simply, apprehensive maybe? Making sure the smile was not winning in dancing on her lips, she trailed her fingertips down the rest of his arm, letting them dance around the skin covering the bone at the base of his wrist and then was walking next to him, like nothing happened.

Glancing over at him as she pulled the weapons bag off her shoulder so she could pull out her sword and bow to strap onto her person, she gave her partner a small but cocky little smirk.

"You talk too much. I know I seem like some homeless puppy but as far as I see it, it’s your call on what we do for now. I'm all ready to go, I'm just waiting on your ass," she hissed while pulling her hands away from sword that was now hanging from her hip, “Just don't pull a stupid move like what you did back there in the bar and you won't have to hate me for scarring up your pretty face."

All that was said with a rather impassive voice but inside she was flipping him off with a big fat grin on her face. Woe to anyone if she was actually serious in what she said. She didn't care about his rank, his attitude or his lecturing (did she feel a wave of deja vu just now?), all she wanted was to throw it in his face that she was capable of keeping up with him in a mission once they were all was said and done.

Looking forward again but slowing her pace until she was only an inch behind in his steps, Tyth shook her braid out. Glancing at his wrist, she smiled a little knowing from the minuscule flinch she felt that he was bothered by her touch. That would be her last move for now in this little game they played while starting this mission, unless he really pushed her.

Tyth may have been out of the mercenary loop for a while but she just wanted him to stop lecturing her on what she already knew. Maybe if she killed a few guys right in front of him or attempted to single handily take out a group of thugs, would he leave her alone? She had no innocence left in this world, after all.

Forsaken Wolves IC (RES n ETHEREAL) Empty Re: Forsaken Wolves IC (RES n ETHEREAL)

Post by Ethereal Thu Oct 21, 2010 8:12 am

"I see... so you're a tomboy." Zied said and tried hard not to chuckle. She reminded him about not pulling something like what he did back at the bar. If she was referring to him holding her, then it all makes the idea he had in mind true. His eyes were back to being calm, that indifferent look he had in them rose from the depths of his expressions. It's going to be a three hour walk and keeping to himself was never a problem for Zied.

He recalled the feeling of her hand touching his tattoo and running down the length of his arm. He didn't mind really, it's just that he wasn't used to the feeling of letting someone pass through his circle of life willingly. Hence, the tensing of his muscles. His eyes were watching her until she slowed down and held a steady pace just a few steps behind him. It always made him feel uncomfortable having someone following him so close behind. But Zied wouldn't complain about it. He was after all, the one who invited her to this mission.

Nearly three hours later...

Zied kept quiet the whole walk until they arrived at what seemed to be the entrance to a forest. He walked off the road and stopped in front of a large tree that towered over all the others surrounding it. There was hardly any light in the area save for the moon's pale glow. Zied reached out to touch the bark of the tree, feeling the surface for a mark he had left there a long time ago. When his right hand came across what seemed to be a chopped portion of the bark, he let out a sigh and looked back to Tyth.

"I'm going to start a fire. Get some rest, we move at daybreak." His voice was softer, somehow reflecting that he too was tired. He should have been sleeping by now but for the love of annoying this woman, he had to endure journeying when he was already exhausted. No regrets though, she was a good little tomboy after all. Reaching for the small belt pouch he had, Zied took a pair of flint stones and started to gather firewood and dry leaves.

After gathering enough firewood and dry leaves, Zied expertly used the flint stones he keeps handy to start a fire. When the fire was burning just enough to keep them warm for the night, Zied looked for his usual spot in the area and got himself ready to sleep. His two-colored eyes watched her silently. For the first time since they met, he took in details of how she actually looked. He was staring, not in the perverted way but rather an inquisitive one. He had questions but he would never ask them. He was satisfied with just looking at her.

Smiling gently, Zied finally closed his eyes and tried to catch some sleep. They had an early start and a feisty old man to deal with tomorrow.

Forsaken Wolves IC (RES n ETHEREAL) Empty Re: Forsaken Wolves IC (RES n ETHEREAL)

Ignoring the 'tomboy' remark, Tyth held her silence as the hours went by until they were countable by three. The sky was already dark and the air around them was dropping slowly in temperature. Setting her bags down at the base of the tree he had touched earlier, she pressed her back firmly against its base and watched silently as Zied started the fire.

The flames ignited onto the soft leaves and stretched towards the sky in the space between them, making his face in her opinion look like it was being enveloped by long tongues of fire. The dancing firelight moved across his features, reflecting in his mismatched eyes of blue and red orbs. It was then she realized that of all things, he was staring right at her.

For a few minutes, she frowned at his gaze narrowed on her but turned her face away when he told her to sleep. She did pretty much say he could be the leader right? It didn't mean she had to like it but despite all things, she was opened minded and was willing to try getting along with him.

Propping one knee up close to her chest, she rested her head back against the tree and closing her eyes. They both were exhausted but hers was a sweet kind of relief. Although her suit offered more protecting than the flimsy regular clothing she now wore, it obstructed her movement by half and that was enough percentage in a real right to get her injured. She could move how she wanted and stretch until it relaxed her.

Deep down, she was happy to just be outside again. No training, no one attacking her and just enjoying the peacefulness of the still silence. Still, as if by habit, her senses stretched out and deciphered all the sounds around them. From the fire cracking, to Zied's regular breathing which noted he was half away and half asleep, to the soft rustling of the leaves above them from the short bursts of wind through the night air.

Letting her shoulders finally fall back from them tensing, she let her brain fizz away into the light slumber of a solider who could wake up at any moment. Her half sheathed sword was pressed against her outstretched leg, the hilt resting against against her hip bone for easy access. Since she had upbraided her hair a few minutes ago, her loose white hair had fallen half over her face, obscuring her left eye from view.

She just hoped Zied was not a cranky, morning person who had to take a couple hours before he decided he was awake. She might just decide to find a river to throw him in if he was.

Forsaken Wolves IC (RES n ETHEREAL) Empty Re: Forsaken Wolves IC (RES n ETHEREAL)

Post by Ethereal Fri Oct 22, 2010 11:07 pm

Cries of people being slaughtered echoed throughout the atmosphere of a small town on the far edge of the land. Black smoke rose from the rooftops of burning homes as the small town of Freywyn was gradually set ablaze by knights that bore an unknown crest. People fell lifeless left and right, lives were snuffed out in a rapid pace. As the ever-hungry fire continued to consume the town, the world of a single soul began to change. Gradually, the place that he had come to know as his home was taken away from him, the white-haired boy beneath the lifeless body of a woman that was his mother.

He wanted to cry, there were no tears. He wanted to scream, but his voice was trapped. He wanted to stand up and stop the ones taking away something precious from him - but he couldn't. He couldn't move his meager body that was soaked in the blood of his mother no matter how much he tried. His heart felt like it was ripped out of his chest. He couldn't explain what the pain was but it was there...

Opening his eyes to the light cracking sound of a dying bonfire, Zied immediately saw Tythlany, the woman he invited to a job. It was a dream, the vivid images he saw earlier, a dream and nothing more. Closing his eyes for a short moment, he released a pent up breath and quietly stretched the length of his legs to stand. It was still dark and the sun has yet to show its glory to the world. A cool breeze brushed through his hair killing the fire from the bonfire completely. Bluish-white smoke rose up to the sky from the burnt wood that provided them heat throughout the night.

Zied looked back at his companion, she was still asleep. Tyth looked as innocent as an angel, as beautiful as a rose, but as deadly as a tigress.

"Get up. We're leaving." He said out loud and took his first step for today's journey. They were supposed to find Gallahad, the old man that forged his weapons. Zied knew that it would take them quite some time just looking for the man's house and deemed it was for the best if he started early. She would catch up to him anyway; there was hardly any reason to wait for her.

Deep within the forest, lights from a small house flickered behind its windows. Inside was an old man who sat motionless in his antique chair. His eyes remained closed but he was awake, aware of the events happening within the grounds of the forest. His breath was slow and shallow, labored even, yet his face showed no discomfort. Both his hands that rested atop the head of his wooden cane slightly trembled with each passing second. He could feel him coming even from afar. The child he raised and nurtured, the child who inherited his arts, the one child who would one day take his own life. He had been waiting a long time for him. So long he couldn't even begin to describe how it felt.

"Zied..." the old man murmured.

Forsaken Wolves IC (RES n ETHEREAL) Empty Re: Forsaken Wolves IC (RES n ETHEREAL)

Post by Rogue.Ember.Shadow Fri Oct 22, 2010 11:39 pm

Her dark, coal shaded eyes blinked open at her partner's voice. So they were leaving. The few hours of sleep was enough for her to function, by any rate. Folding her legs underneath her body, Tyth stood up while pulling her one storage bag over her shoulder and fastening her sword back to her hip at the same time. As she stepped over the dying fire that once held such cozy warmth, the sword at her side tapped against her thigh with each step she took after the disappearing form of Zied.

Tap...step....tap....step....tap...step

She was aware of the weight of the weapon, of its mere presence and how small it was compared to her previous weapon of choice years ago. Glancing down, she noted the narrowness of the blade and its simplicity in care. For a brief fraction of a second, she flexed her hands as the phantom feeling of holding a much longer and heavier weapon fluttered across the skin of her palms, remembering.

"Each of these weapons are custom made for your specific, individual abilities and style. They now define you, they become apart of you, they will distinguish you as a person and a person with this weapon only. You fight when told, you swing when its necessary. You are this weapon and these orders are the hands that wield you."

Black eyes stared into the shiny, wide curved blade of the weapon that was bestowed into her hands.....

Then the feeling was gone and she forcefully pushed the memories away. She made sure to choose a weapon that was complete opposite the one she had made a name for herself using. It a step towards being a different person, changing from someone who was not there anymore.

After jogging along the tracks he left that she managed to tell in the forest, Tyth was finally able to spot her comrade. Slowing down, she made sure to keep a respectable distance between them so if they were suddenly attacked, they wouldn't have to struggle in maneuvering around each other.

Coming up to right side, she readjusted her bag and glanced sideways at Zied from her left.

"Where are we going?" she asked in her usual quiet voice, blinking once as she waited for his reply.

"What happens when we get to this friend of yours? What will they do to aid you?"

Maybe if she met a certain person who is willingly acquainted with him, they may shed some light on why Zied was such a stick in the custard pie. She needed a different social response to his sarcastic bars other than 'I am ignoring you with my genuine irked silence'.

Forsaken Wolves IC (RES n ETHEREAL) Empty Re: Forsaken Wolves IC (RES n ETHEREAL)

Post by Ethereal Sat Oct 23, 2010 7:29 pm

Zied stopped walking after hearing Tyth's questions. Those questions were not the type he often gets from a different person. It sounded like Tyth wanted to know more about him. Zied scoffed and turned to face her. He looked at her eyes, trying to see if there was the slightest hint of curiosity in them. His lips pulled into a crooked smile.

"You're interested. I find that hard to believe but your eyes don't lie. Let me ask you then, what good would it be for you to know more about me? Don't give me crap like it will allow us to work better together, that's horseshit." he said and crossed his arms before his chest.

"If you must know, the man we're looking for is the man who made these..." he said and pulled out the katars strapped on his legs. "My weapons are worn out, we're here to get his finest work, but that could prove to be a little challenging."

Zied paused for a moment. He looked at the the house sitting in the distance. Something ominous lies in wait for them, he could feel it and it slightly worried him. The old man they were supposed to meet has a fondness for gadgets and the unheard of. Zied looked back at Tyth.

"As for what happens when we get there..." he said and pointed at the house in the distance. "I don't really know, just stay on your toes and watch out for them." he finished and continued walking toward the house.

Them, the things made by the old man to defend the place, machines that are given life. They do not bleed, they know no remorse, they are savage and they are never the welcoming bunch. Not to mention they are hard as steel and difficult to destroy. Zied thought it would be a good test for his partner's fighting capabilities. If she gets killed here, then he simply brought the wrong person with him. If she does pass however, Zied would be impressed but of course, he wouldn't let her see it.

Upon taking one more step forward, the birds around the area suddenly flew into the sky, disturbed by something. Zied already knew what it meant. They have entered the old man's domain. Equipping his good arm with the katar, he looked around, patiently waiting for them to show up.

"It would be best for you to drop your bag and take your stance. They don't lik-- Gghh!" Zied grunted as he blocked the sharp metal that suddenly protruded beneath him. Little sparks danced at the point of contact between Zied's weapon and the sharp object aiming to impale him. Overpowered, Zied jumped back and landed on one knee. The earth from where he last stood began to rise, making way for one of the old man's defenders. It was always a mysterious thing to see a knight's armor come up from the ground. It was carrying a bladed lance and the second thing it did was to swing at Tyth.

"Don't just stand there! We'll get outnumbered if we don't move fast!" Zied yelled and charged at the one that tried to impale him earlier. The earth around them began to look as if it was alive when more of the same things began to come up from under the ground, these things were the old man's Ghost Knights.

Forsaken Wolves IC (RES n ETHEREAL) Empty Re: Forsaken Wolves IC (RES n ETHEREAL)

Post by Rogue.Ember.Shadow Sat Oct 23, 2010 8:33 pm

Tyth was still mildly stewing over his snarly comment over her question. Well maybe it was best she kept her silence after all and have things unfurl around her. However, when she felt the ground beneath them start moving up, she wondered briefly if it was ironic that it would answer her thoughts. She didn't want things to unfurl literally!

Her black eyes widened in shock for a long blade came thrusting towards her and she immediately saw that the form was jerky and rushed. Jerking herself back out of its range, she twisted one foot to twirl forward along the pole of the lance in order to avoid being cut by the lance's blade.

Now was not the time to be analyzing this thing's emotionless form of combat.

Skidding along near the Knight's legs, she pulled her sword out from the sheath on her hip and took an experimental slash at the metal coating its leg. Her blade bounced off without so much as a nick or scratch to show for it. Clenching her teeth, she dived between its choppy moving legs as other weapons from newly arrived machines dived for her back.
However, she couldn't afford to stop moving as her dive turned into a scramble among slashing blades and weapons of all kinds. Sword and lances mostly.

Grunting as she twisted too fast around of swinging an axe to slam into the chest of another wielding a sword, she looked up as it raised its sword to impale her. Thrusting her hands up, she pushed herself sideways while using its hard chest as leverage to give herself momentum in order to dodge. Instead of impaling her, it impales itself and its weapon was thrust deep, all the way to the handle.

Eyes widening, she gave a little smile as she re-clenched her grip on her sword as she stood up, fending off several thrusts from two spears as the machine that impaled itself tried pulling the blade free.

So these things could not be harmed by a commonly made weapon, but one of its own. She just hoped that face was the same for all of them as she pushed her blade down to trap the tips of the two spearheads into the dirt. Stepping onto the trapped weapons, she jumped high above the machines and angled her weapon as she came back down. Landing on one that was heading for Zied's back as he fought, she landed roughly on the thing's shoulders, using her blade as an anchor by driving the thin blade through the minuscule gap between the armor's sliding layers along its right arm, stopping the movement of the arm that held the sword. The sword it held paused in the air, blade pointed dead forward.

'Alright, now to see if this works...'

Some strands came loose from her tightly bound braid as Tyth slid down the machine's back while holding onto the handle of her sword as an anchor. She could already see some of the machine's weapons heading her way, making a wide arc of shiny points dead set on impaling her body.

Waiting until the points were a foot from her body, Tyth kicked hard against the back bending point of the armor's left knee with her left foot, then did the same with her right foot to the right knee. Using the gravity from its upper body, she pulled back until her feet touched the ground and then immediately backtracked in a backward circle, slowly pulling the armor around with her by back of its right elbow. Several blades sliced the air above her and the armor as they bent backwards, in the very air they were standing in moments before. As the armor swung in the small circle, she heard loud clangs and screeches form metal hitting and cutting metal.

Along her sides and shoulders, she felt brief slashes along her skin from some of the weapons that made it paste the armor in order to impale her again. when the armor refused to turn anymore after a full circle around, she let go of her sword in order to move freely backwards.
The remaining support she had used to keep her captured armor up pulled it to the ground, revealing its chest to be slashed and punched by its fellow machine's weapons.

She had successfully caused that one machine's sword she made stuck to cut the weapons that had attacked. She had disarmed a total of eight, and obstructing several others. The ones that she had felt cut her were now buried into the ground around the perimeter of the suit.

Running forward, she kicked sideways at the nearest machine that had its halberd's tip stuck in the ground, her foot aiming for the hand in order to loosen its grip. When that failed as she hastily moved away while the machine pulled its weapon free and turn towards her, she picked up one half of a blade from one of the disarmed suits and dodged the thrust from the halberd, scooted close to the machine's chest and used the broken half of a sword with the tip to cut off the machine's arm, only it didn't work.

This one wasn't cut by the weapon it attacked with, and slapped her away. The rocks and soft earth dug into her back as she slid away, her hair along her back turning from bright white to a dull gray from the dirt mixing with her air.

Huffing from her fall, Tyth inhaled and then jumped back up to her feet to meet the rushing machine head on. It ran forward with the halberd held in one hand for a one handed thrust that it was sure to be the end of her. Narrowing her eyes into black slits, she rushed the calculations in her mind as another tip came towards her head once again....

Now! She bent body backwards just as the tip of the halberd was a foot away. Watching as the blade cut through the air above along her upper body and between the air and her face, she then reached up to grab onto the upper third part of the pole below the mounted blade. As the pole slowly was moving forward above her, she was crawling towards the machine's hand that gripped it near the bottom. Pushing up as the pole slowed to a pause in the air from having missed its target, she slammed the palms of her hands against the pole, causing the long pole weapon to slant upwards. As the machine took a step forward, most likely to pull its weapon back, she kicked at the butt end of the lance in the machine's grip.

The pole slid out of its each as it was kicked upward into the slant she pushed it in, and into the air of about seven feet.

Wincing as she could feel the shallow cuts leak blood underneath her clothing along with having become winded from moving so much in a short amount of time, Tyth couldn't help but feel a little pride in having disarmed one of these soulless looking suits of armor. Ignoring the tightness in her chest and the trickling along her legs, she backtracked away from the now disarmed armor and held her hands above her head just in time to catch the lance as it fell from the sky.

Yelling out, she whirled the heavy weapon above her head to get the feel of its total weight and then jerked into the space in front of her, ready to fend of more attacks. Still, she was fighting for breath as the muscles in her arms and wrists began to ache, despite how she wanted them to. She wouldn't be able to last much longer.

"Zied!" She wasn't sure why she was calling his name or for what reason. All she knew it that she was getting tired and this was getting pointless. Was the person not watching them? She had been to busy watching her own skin to bother watching Zied fight. Had they not proven themselves or something? When will these walking pieces of steel stop attacking?!

Forsaken Wolves IC (RES n ETHEREAL) Empty Re: Forsaken Wolves IC (RES n ETHEREAL)

With a powerful thrust of his katar, Zied struck down the knight armor that aimed to impale him earlier. In his current state, it was not enough to bring it down. The ghost knight took four steps back after Zied's attack but managed to stay on its toes. But now was not the time to doubt his strength. Zied pressed on, kicking the ground and going into full sprint, he leaped into the air and acrobatically avoided the ghost knight's slash mid-air while and simultaneously launched a counter-kick of his own. As his weight and the force of his kick crashed down on the ghost knight, it lost its balance and fell to the forest floor. However, Zied did not waste time to finish the armor off. Instead, he bolted himself forward only to be blocked by two more of the ghost knights.

"Persistent as always..." he mumbled.

A slash from a great axe was the first blow he had to dodge by swaying left, followed by a spear thrust by leaping. Grabbing the spear's pole as he rose mid-air, Zied pulled the rest of his body and stretched out his legs to land a kick with both his feet to the spear type ghost knight's head. It's mostly all about balance in a fight. The better you can stay on your toes, the higher the chances of not getting killed. Zied knew that it was pointless to even try and destroy these ghost knights. The old man's automatic defense system would only activate more of these weird machines anyway.

When the spear knight fell to the ground, Zied immediately raised his good arm to block the incoming axe swing from his right. Upon impact, Zied immediately knew that one arm was not enough to hold down the blow. He was instantly overpowered and sent flying a good distance to the side. Although unharmed, he was sent to a disadvantageous position. Three more of the knights came at him from the back. "Shit!" he cursed as he weaved through a flurry of slashes and stabs.

Zied's wounded left arm began to spurt out blood through the bandage as he was forced to use his left hand katar to block a blow from a club using ghost knight. His face winced in pain and he let out a grunt of irritation. His feet slightly sunk to the forest ground as he blocked another crushing blow from another ghost knight with his right katar. With a roar, Zied forced his way through the deadlock and back-flipped to a safe distance only to find himself faced with a different set of ghost knights.

With a quick glance around the area, Zied saw his partner dismantle a couple of the ghost knights as she fought. He recalled an instance where she watched his back while engaged with the lance using ghost knight. Not that he needed her assistance but he was grateful. However, he was pissed off at the fact that she was expending strength needlessly. Was she really that stupid? Or is it because it had been a long time since she last fought a battle. Nonetheless, they were split off at a good distance by the ghost knights and it was a seriously bad mistake. One of them would get swarmed by these lifeless things and ultimately get killed.

"Zied!"

He heard her voice call for him and soon found out why. She was exhausted after taking out a good number of them. "Oi! What are you doing fighting them head on! It's not like you'll get paid for it!" Zied yelled. These knights were just the welcoming party. What he feared the most were the ones who uses ranged weapons. They don't have the killing intent a person has and it was next to impossible to sense where their attack would come from. Slashing down against another spear thrust, Zied barely escaped being punched with a new hole. Bending his knees slightly, he prepared to jump back as soon as the other knights launched their attack.

"Damn it!" he cursed again after landing on both feet. Looking back, he saw the finish line, the place where they needed to be. These things were set to defend a perimeter and as long as they are out of it, they won't attack. He could just go and leave her there but then again, if he did that, it was like throwing away a fortune. Both of them needed each other to complete their job. Gritting his teeth in frustration, Zied sheathed both katars back to the side of his legs and ran back to where Tyth was.

He weaved through the numerous armors aiming to kill him, sliding through a gap between the legs of the last knight that blocked his path to Tythlany. He was surprised to see that she had been lightly scratched by these machines and that she was almost out of breath. "My god you're hopeless!" He scolded her but quickly grabbed her by her waist using his good arm and lifted the rest of her weight off the ground. He hoisted her to his shoulder, not caring if she would stab him for doing so but there was hardly any time left to argue. The archer types would come out soon and if he and Tyth were still there by the time they did, it's all over.

She was lighter than he thought she would be which partly made him smile. It's a good thing that she was for carrying her while making a break for the inner perimeter wouldn't pose much problem. "Here we go! Keep your head low Tyth!" he said and made a run for it.

Some eight minutes or so...

Zied managed to reach the safe zone with a few scratches on him. He was breathing heavy, trying to catch his lost wind as he decided to take breather. He looked at Tyth with a smile.

"You're crazy you know that?"

Forsaken Wolves IC (RES n ETHEREAL) Empty Re: Forsaken Wolves IC (RES n ETHEREAL)

Post by Rogue.Ember.Shadow Sun Oct 24, 2010 6:01 am

The muscles in her wrists and forearms bulged as she gripped the large and heavy lance she considered a prize in battle. Whirling it about expertly, she managed to fend off a few more attacks while making an opening in order to escape.

She just wasn't expecting for him to appear so quickly when she was spinning in numerous circles for what felt like several hours.

When she was pulled from the ring of attacking suits of armor, Tyth blinked while her vision was filled with her partner's backside. The lance she had successfully relinquished had dropped from her grip as soon as she was airborne. Despite the sight, she sagged against his shoulder in relief. It nearly cost her by holding back due to having grasped that lance of all things, but she just couldn't help it. If she told Zied her reasons, there was no doubt he would lose all decent acknowledgment of her mere presence for she would turn into the epitome of stupidity in his eyes for a very long time, no doubt.

When they were a decent distance away from the armors, she noticed they slowed in coming directly after them. Were they safe or something?

Pushing herself off his shoulder to sit on her own, she winced as the mini cuts along her body stung as her body moved. Knowing he was going to snap back at her anyway, Tyth decided to not even bother apologizing. When he mentioned her being crazy, she couldn't help but look at him and then start outright laughing at herself.

Her actions were the epitome of stupidity and downright idiocy. She just started taking those suits head on when she should have stayed near Zied and created a unified front to fend them off. Not one of her best moments, and even those she had very few of unless sleeping was an exception.

Wiping a tear away as her chuckles subsided, she then molded her face into a semi-serious frown as she faced Zied once again.

"Thanks for back there and you have to agree being crazy comes with this lifestyle. Now, I think we need to be somewhere."

Inhaling through her nose, she shakily got to her feet and stood there steadily for a moment, letting her body adjust to being used again. It seemed like another stupid idea to be pushing herself this much but honestly, she didn't feel bothered by it. Looking at Zied again, she nodded her head towards the direction he had carried them toward.

"Where to next?" Tyth asked as she turned her head away a fraction so she wasn't looking directly at him now. She was acting brave but at this point, she just wanted them to get from A to B. She would ignore that brief question in her head if the softness in his eyes she noticed (or though she noticed) had been there at all. She needed to be professional about all this, and although everything she did came at odds with this man, she would respond to his lead in her own way.

Eventually he would come to learn that fact about her. Narrowing her eyes at him, she dared for him to pity her and carry her the rest of the way. She was a woman, not a friggin' damsel. She could take it.

Forsaken Wolves IC (RES n ETHEREAL) Empty Re: Forsaken Wolves IC (RES n ETHEREAL)

Post by Ethereal Sun Oct 24, 2010 7:18 am

"There's no need to thank me woman. I saved you because I need you." he said and checked on his own wounds. They were scratches, some were deep but still, they were just scratches. "Crazy comes with this lifestyle huh? If that's how you think of it, I couldn't care less. All I know is that crazy mercenaries die fast." Zied said and scoffed.

But she had a point. One needs a certain level of craziness in their lifestyle.

"Where to next? We're right where we should be. That old man is bound to come out, and when he does, maybe I'll lop his head off." Zied said while pulling out bandages from his small pouch. "Here, use these. Small wounds like that, if left untreated can weaken you." he finished and tossed the bandages to Tyth.

Those were the only bandages he had left. He knew that and yet he still thought about letting her use them instead of using it on his own cuts and the wound in his left arm that reopened. Was he going soft? He certainly hopes not. It would be a problem if he somehow softened up. He looked at Tyth from the corner of his blue eye. Somewhere inside him, she reminded him of a woman, the woman who gave him the sword strapped on his back. Shrugging the thoughts away, Zied took a deep breath and drew the oriental sword.

"Treat your wounds and wait for me here, I wouldn't take too long. Don't worry, I'll be back once I get my new pair of katars and information." Zied said and launched himself to a full sprint heading to the house of the old man in the middle of the forest.

In his mind, Zied played back the earlier events that happened. Tythlany fought the armors head on. He knew she was trying to tell him something but she shouldn't go that far into letting him know her message. She was strong, he knew that and he acknowledges that fact, although he wouldn't blatantly admit that to her face. It's just how he is. There was no need for heroic antics and unnecessary risk taking. One thing about her bothered him a little bit. She seemed like she thirsts for battle and was obsessed with trying to prove herself. What could have pushed her to go to such lengths? Zied could only wonder.

Upon nearing the old man's house, Zied slowed down to a stop. There he was, standing in front of his doorway with the items he needed. It has been a long time since they saw each other and yet, Zied couldn't think of a word to say to him. He greeted him with a battle stance instead.

"What's gotten into you old man? You usually give me a hard time with getting new weapons." Zied asked while moving forward by the inch.

The old man smiled and tossed the weapons over to Zied's feet. "I am growing old and only have a few more days in this forsaken land. I do not wish to give you a hard time." he said. "If I was any younger, I would have done everything I can to straighten your life... but it seems I can no longer do that. These old bones are on the verge of breaking. Take my finest work and remember my final words. The path you are treading will give you nothing in the end, only hatred for yourself and this world. Follow the path shown to you by the one who gave you that sword. It's never too late to give yourself another chance. Zied my boy, you are a good and strong man... do not dirty your hands anymore than you already have. There's so much you can do in this world. Open up and see them for yourself. Live Zied... it's not too late for you."

Zied couldn't say a word. This man sees through him like he was clean glass. He became a mercenary not because he wanted to, but because he was raised and taught by one ruthless mercenary which was this old man.

"Gallahad, you taught me this life and now you are contradicting your own teachings? I do not understand you." Zied responded and picked up the new katars given to him. "One more thing before I go... Do you have any information about the ones sending in anonymous requests?" Zied asked.

Gallahad's eyes became filled with worry after hearing Zied's question. "Lad, don't tell me you've been doing those requests?" the old man inquired. Zied scoffed at his question. "It's good money. Why shouldn't I? I've already completed quite a few of them." he answered.

The old man turned around and reached for the doors to his house. "Zied, you have entered a world you shouldn't have. Now the only way for you to escape it is to see things through. A powerful organization sends out those requests, they are called the Mist Ravens. Beware lad, you have been marked by them... now leave, there's nothing more I can do for you." the old man said and shut himself back in his house.

"Mist Ravens? Powerful Organization? Marked by them? Damn, this old man doesn't make any sense!" Zied said and turned the other direction. He was heading back to Tyth with a lot of new things to think about.

Forsaken Wolves IC (RES n ETHEREAL) Empty Re: Forsaken Wolves IC (RES n ETHEREAL)

Post by Rogue.Ember.Shadow Mon Oct 25, 2010 5:02 pm

Tyth leaned back, letting the air flow through her lungs as she ignored the stinging flesh wounds along her body. She was starting to get used to his barbed criticism, and they'd only know each other for what, a day?

Its amazing what life and death situations could do to bond people, whether good or bad bonds. Looking up the sky, she wondered if she'd wanted to stay this way in strength, or get stronger into her prime. That would require she train the whole time they were gone to not even get a scratch on her during battle, like near a decade ago.

Closing her eyes as her exhausted mind reluctantly let the voices of the memories in, she inhaled sharply as her fatigued muscles clenched in apprehension.

All her senses had gone numb, except for the flowing of blood through muscle as she moved her blood fluidly through the movements of angling her weapon just the right way to cut someone through. It seemed effortless when just watching her move in fast circles while the long strip of metal whirled in deadly arcs around her. Empty read eyes of a young girl narrowed almost lifelessly on her target as it rushed towards her large range of reach.

It would be over in seven slashes at each crucial artery spot on a human body. She could see how it would play out in her mind, and then her opponent would be dead. White hair with faint blue streaks at the roots of her head flared around her shoulders in a disheveled, tangled mess of hair strands as she twirled in place.

Three.....two.............one.

Wincing, she pulled herself from the clenched ball she seemed to form while clutching the knees of her legs. Shaking it all away, she looked around for Zied, waiting for him to return. She needed direction at the moment to keep it at bay...

Ignoring the buzzing her limbs, she pushed herself to her feet and straightened her spine. Holding her one empty hand out, she clenched the air like she was holding a handle and then began to move slowly forward. Going through the forms of her sword style she learned, Tyth closed her eyes and let the slow movement of the katas relax her body and mind. H

When Zied returned to where he had left Tyth, he was surprised to find out that she was doing katas. Of course, there was nothing wrong with it, it's just that katas are mostly beneficial when one is in his or her best condition. He watched her fluid movements for a moment, admiring her uncanny grace like a calm flow of water.

"That's one way of killing time I guess..."

Zied said, interrupting the forest ambiance along with her focus. He got what he needed; it was time to go. Sheathing his brand new katars to the side of his legs, Zied looked around the area. The sound of the old man's ghost knights could not be heard anymore. It seems that the old man himself wanted them out of his territory.

"One of our seven targets resides in the next town eastward. It's not nearly dark yet so if we travel fast, we should be there by nightfall." Zied said and tossed a fruit he picked along the way to Tyth. It was round and bright red, much like an apple, only sweeter and more nutritious. After all, the old man was not only known for his craziness over machines.

Zied was not used to gestures of kindness. He knew how, it just felt awkward to be doing it. Zied couldn't bring his eyes to look into Tythlany's. For a reason unknown to him, he felt... shy. "Dawdling around will get us nowhere. Let's get a move on." he said and began walking eastward through the forest.

Perhaps he was going soft, perhaps too soft on this woman. Did it bother him? Yes it bothered him a little, but Zied figured that as long as it doesn't kill him, it should be alright. In an attempt to strike a conversation, Zied suddenly thought of Gallahad's words and the Mist Ravens. Seldom in his life had Zied worried too long over trivial things, but this time felt different. The way Gallahad mentioned the Mist Ravens, followed by his tone and action when he did, called for his undivided attention. For an organization to make the ruthless mercenary he knew to worry definitely means something.

"The old man said something interesting about our job. He says that our employer is a powerful organization named Mist Ravens, ever heard of them?"
