Re: Emoria: OOC
It's an explanation for how he was able to do it while the paladins were there.
I think it works quite well and makes the liches that much more dangerous!
If you think about it, just plain magic shouldn't be able to take on a life of its own and reanimate things. That would take tons upon tons of energy over time, and he's got huge numbers of them. But if you call a spirit into it, then the spirit can supply the energy of itself.
Edit:
These guys are just making nexus. What Morgarath does with his teleporting, I gather, is make nexus AND tiny rifts. Of awesome terrible evilness of doom. These infinitesimal rifts don't have any noticeable effects--yet--or the paladins would notice them and be panicking. And, of course, that's a big, big, biiiig Yet.

...paladins neutralize magic with their proximity?
I always viewed the Lich resurrection stuff as a magic branch all its own Dosen't really make it a life. Sides...I think shadow spirits are what the Ordingaunt are.

Re: Emoria: OOC
I wasn't sure whether the Ordingaunt = the ghouls. Either way, there can still be shadow "spirits," sort of incorporeal thingies. If you like that better than a separate magic, I think it creates more of a crisis with the whole fabric of the world.
Paladins don't neutralize magic. Light and Shadow partially neutralize each other. It's the reason Morgarath would be a lot less in the Light plane and Alos would be a lot less in the Shadow plane. It's part of the balance of Light and Shadow, the whole dichotomy thing. ^_^
So, since the paladins' armor is enchanted into the receptive metal that it's made of, the Light-ness in it reacts with any Shadow magic in proximity, and vice versa. That's why their armor and weapons functioned as just normal pieces of metal during the Lich fight, if you noticed. The word "parity" means equality or equivalence, equal in a mount, having functional equivalence, that sort of thing. If the Lich had done shadow magic, it would have either gone askew or been greatly diminished--more likely the former--or else just plain not worked. Similarly, the effects of their armor were nullified--there were no Light effects. The cancellation effect isn't so much an effect from environments as it is from energies.
Paraphrase: If Morgarath, according to my current understanding, comprises the combined Shadow Lords (whether or not they are the Shadow Lords or just some Shadow Lords), then it's a logical step to say that other shadow spirits can possess other things under the right circumstances. (And, if we need an extra precedent for body possessing, we do have a person being a soul container, and that's probably pretty close--similar principle, I suppose.) The ability to create nexus (maybe Morgarath discovered something and the Liches are using that) provides them access to the material plane, and getting dead people circumvents a battle of wills for a body to inhabit. Voila, an army of Shadow denizens for Morgie, in addition to his own creations.
If Light energy from the Paladins' armor interferes with Shadow spells but not Shadow environment, then Shadow magic would not work but Shadow summoning would. Thus, since the Lich obviously felt the cancellation effect because he was the one who said "parity will not save you," he would have known that he couldn't use Shadow magic to fight the Paladins. But that was okay, because he could still raise fallen dead. And what'd'ya know, here's a dead gryphon. Too perfect. ^_^
We can say the shadow shield was part of the shadows being summoned and not a shadow spell while he was already summoning, or something.
If that works.
So what are the Ordingaunt for, then?

Re: Emoria: OOC
Well, to be completely fair, I didn't make Ka'urderen say Parity will not save you, so it's more stumbling happen-stance that it played so well.
And I think I tried to show it with magical colours, but K'deen(as the nickname is easier to type) can do more than just shadow magick. I told Ryona ages ago he can do a sort of...decay/rotty/necromancy magick as well(he blasted the rider with it), which I believed to be the fundamental basis of animating the dead. It's also why ghouls are ghouls, not just shambling zombies, since he magically alters the body into these clawed monsters that they are now.
Small request from me, for the future of Sretin, from everyone. To prevent confusion, and the Lich understanding things that I don't(confusing for me, aye?), could we just nab his responses from me? He's got a personality and such, and I'm usually around so I'll be quick in responding. Just so I can stay on top of everything. Won't ask anything be edit now, but just from here on out, if we could. Thanks!
And the Ordingaunt are Morgie's main force. Their job is to smash and do horde things. I posted their info not too long ago.
Also...if someone intends to bring up an multidimensional crisis at some point, I think it should be well known fact long before it happens. Cause that sorta thing can potenially destroy every plan in exisitance without batting an eyelash. Just my opinion(and I know I'm the original suggester of cracks of shadow, but I always thought that's how they'd stay. Cracks.)

Re: Emoria: OOC
Sure, no problem. Him saying it was less about him and more about describing the effect, but I see your point.
I'm probably behind on all the updates you've been doing in the Info section. I'll reread those, as well.
Liches are a Shadow race, yes?
Or not so much a race, I should say, as one of Morgarath's tinkerings? Sort of like the Sythen?
In the Info it's organized according to In-Character rather than Out-of-Character, but in the first info thread it's by player. So are both updated, or is it all in one or the other?

Re: Emoria: OOC
...I haven't touched the info section. This stuff is all on my computer or in my head, or more recently, my phone. I have the Lich info in here somewhere, but Odin knows where I have it.
As to the actual origins of Liches...they're KINDA a shadow race. Kinda. They use the magick to die, and seal their essence into their soul container(only super duper liches like K'deen can actually change it.) Hell, at one point, I actually think I was going to pitch it to Ryona for them to be the men who left the Jasadin to practice black magick that she referenced all that time ago in the council.
So...it's in neither? My muse has been focused on Meyul and the Tynir(so many ideas and workings, and sub-sects and plans!) I'll likely finish it, then send the whole she-bang over to Ryona and Silvone for filing.
And then maybe add it to Morgie's post in the info thread. Dunno.
I'm gonna poke in chatbox. Any questions, come catch me there, and we can sort it.

I'm going to be posting in Valinyx and Fermata soon (IE within the next couple of days). HD is missing as far as I know, so lets continue on and carry his character until he returns.

Plan wise? I think I posted it last page...as for posting, it's me next. I just gotta post elsewhere first.
Also, posted a revised Meyul character sheet. More information to come as it is completed.

Re: Emoria: OOC
Alright, cool. I read all that for Sretin, so that is going well.
So what's goin on for MoN? What is going to happen during our little voyage? Any suggestions? Do we simply wait and RP in different threads and have us simply fast forward to the MoN gates? I know me and Buzz had a plan but that imploded because of stuff I wasn't aware of (happens when I vanish for such a long period amount of time).
The plan itself consisted of having Saint attack and poison the Vatiennien delegation during the night and have him kill a couple soldiers before thhe rest subjugated him, paving the way to Saint's 'capitivity' or 'forced accompaniment' to Jean resulting in character evolution adn development and purification of Saint as he garners a 'friendship' with Jean when he becomes Papus, the ritual having some kind of benefecial effect on him.... or something. That was awhile ago.
Basically, what I am saying is that I want to hear suggestions on possible alternatives to that scenario that works with what Buzz said. That eventual suggestion and scenario would be the plot for the voyage for the city to MoN.
I hope you're ok with what I just said, Buzz!

Re: Emoria: OOC
Curious as to why he'd try.
As for stuff to happen...well, I imagine there will be, at the very least clashes between the Vatiennian and Tynir present. Possibly not physical, but some verbal no doubt.
Open to possible suggestions involving the Tynir.

Re: Emoria: OOC
We had determined why he did... but I forgot. So... yah...
I think its because he thought he would be able to poison all the soldiers in the night without any of them waking up, having them die from poisoning later on during the day, randomly... but they ended waking up.

Seems sloppy for professional assassino.
Do we want some conflict? Cause we could probably milk some out of the Tynir being not so conservative whilst the Vatiennians are.

He just left the death tent, so killing another of his dudes might be harsh...
Do you think either of them would recognize each other, since Alphonse was around Nyana roughly whenever he could swing it, they might have met once or twice.

Well I was thinking that, since she's one of the few that works that tent, she might see him leave and recognize him/ feel obligated to try and console him.

Good post guys, maybe we'll see Reyabel and Alphonse get together one day if Nya doesn't make it... and if Alphonse lives. Also, funny story, but my great grandfather was name Alphonse. Just a fun fact.
After Lady, I will post in Sretin.
GC, I will have Alphonse arrive at the tent during my post, but he won't say anything until you re-post, that alright?
Also... what's going on for MoN? Who wants/supposed to post? it is possible I missed something, because everytime I ask we just start talking about Sretin. Sretin IS awesome, though... but come on, who doesn't love Jean! Amirite, amirite!? xD

I thought it was Kalon, but that's me. I can post right now too, if he doesn't feel like it's a very good time for it.
And Dax, sorry it didn't work out, but it never really made a huge amount of sense, anyway, as Guilty points out. It IS pretty sloppy for a professional assassin, after all I kinda like what we currently have more anyway, and it all makes a lot more sense.
Hey guilty, we gotta chat, btws.
