Re: 50 Book Challenge!!!
Have to say Kalon, that's an epic book - I read it, literally, in one go when I was younger. One of his best books by far, if you ask me.
Ahem, forgot to update my list as well, going to fix that in a minute.

A fellow Terry Pratchett aficionado? xD
I've read The Color of Magic, The Light Fantastic, Guards! Guards!, Lords and Ladies, The Hogfather, Mort, Small Gods, and next in line is Pyramids. I might have read one other one that I forget, plus snippets of some others.

I've read all those, plus:
Haven't read his newer stuff, think the last one I read was Monstrous Regiment, but I have to admit I kinda got bored of his style after a time. His ideas, while placed in different settings, remained pretty much the same and he didn't bring anything new to the table. There's only so much you can write before things go stale, eh? Still, he's definitely a top notch author, I recommend all those books listed above. Plus check out his "The Bromeliad" trilogy, they are supposed to be aimed at younger readers, but there's plenty of humour for adults there as well.
Anyway, enough rambling from me - sorry for derealing the thread!

I finally got to finish Star Wars: Fate of the Jedi: Vortex! =D
Currently reading The Road (duh). XD
Also prepping a set of books to bring with me for the summer. I anticipate much reading will occur.

Re: 50 Book Challenge!!!
I guess I can participate in this now. I've been doing a lot of reading during the down time at work, so I've been making some headway in terms of the amount of books I'm going through. I started reading in March at some point, I believe, so I will consider that my final month in a year.
My goal is to read 50 books by the end of the year, but considering I'll be leaving this job in August and moving towns and trying to find another job there, along with having my parents move to New Mexico not long after, I might not be able to reach that.
I think you'll catch a fairly common theme in my reading. The ones in bold are the books I currently own, and the rest are ones I really want to get and am saving for or that just haven't been released yet and are still being written.

Re: 50 Book Challenge!!!
Fate... that is the most amazing reading list I have ever seen. <3
I hope you know "Recovery" is only available in e-book form or in the front of the paperback version of Star by Star? =) I'd so go read it right now if I had remembered to bring it up with me, haha.
I just recently started rereading my Sue Henry novels. Currently reading Murder at Five Finger Light, then I've got three others up with me!

Hehe thanks.
Yeah, I read that Recovery is an e-book, but I'd like to be able to get it if I can. I really want to get a Nook one of these days. It must be good!

Re: 50 Book Challenge!!!
Fate, before I add you to the list on the first post, I'll need this information from you:
1. Your start date. You said March of this year, but can you give me a guesstimate of the exact day?
2. How many books you intend to read this year.
3. Can you add your progress to your post somewhere easily found? It helps me when I update the first post with everyone's progress. ^^_^^

Re: 50 Book Challenge!!!
I have no idea when in March I started, but I'll just say March 1st.
I said that my goal was 50. Did you want a goal for by the end of this year in addition to a full 365-day year?
Oh, and sure thing. I just posted how many books I've read so far. Thank you!

Oh no. I must have just missed it. This is just a 365 day thing, not a January 1st, 2011 - January 1st, 2012 thing. Sorry about that. ^^_^^;;

Re: 50 Book Challenge!!!
Hey, Kathryn, I was just wondering if there was a reason I wasn't added yet to the first post of this thread. I was thinking of going ahead and just adding myself in there, but I wasn't sure if there was really a reason for that or maybe if you just forgot. I don't mean to sound like I'm pressuring you! I just really wasn't sure at all. Perhaps I'm forgetting to do something.
I'm on 34/50 books at the moment. Unfortunately, I haven't had nearly as much time to read lately at work.

Re: 50 Book Challenge!!!
I thought I added you. ^x_x^ I'm sorry! One of two things could have happened:
A. I didn't realize you'd edited the information I needed into it, and I just forgot to keep checking.
B. I started to add you, and I must have accidentally closed the window before hitting submit without realizing it.
Either way, I apologize for being made of fail. XD

Oh, okay, no worries! It's fine either way. I just wanted to ask and make sure, rather than doing it myself and worrying if I shouldn't. Thank you, Kathryn. ^_^

Re: 50 Book Challenge!!!
I wish I was here when this started. I would have loved to join all of you in this fun "competition".
But with only 4 months left in the year I don't think I could read 50 books.
Plus my list will be filled with only Star Wars books.

Re: 50 Book Challenge!!!
Mmkay. Because you didn't list one, I'm going to assume that the date you posted the list is the start date.
The only thing I ask is that you add somewhere in your list ((whether it be the beginning or the end)) how many books you've read. That way, I can easily just pick that number out of the list to update the first post rather than having to go through and count them. ^^_^^
By the way, you've been added to the first post!

Re: 50 Book Challenge!!!
Just updated my list. I am so far behind but maybe over break I can catch up. Also is it ok if I read the same book twice in one year? I am forced to since I read it last semester in January and now have to read it again for a different class. Would it count twice in that case?

Re: 50 Book Challenge!!!
I don't think it should count if it's the same book. This is more or less designed to get a person reading various things, but it is a self-challenge, so if you really want to count it, that's your choice.
