What's The Story, Morning Glory? [ooc/OPEN]
What's the Story
Morning Glory?
Morning Glory?
It's 1991. The music scene has just changed again; this time for a genre called grunge. Nirvana, Stone Temple Pilots, Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, etc. The youth of America is changing, seeking something new, and we're breaking away from the norm even more. Hip hop is beginning to emerge, AIDs is growing, homosexuality is showing its face to society more and more. The world must be in pieces to attempt to make a whole.
But that's the bigger picture, and we're not focused on that. This is about the music of our souls. Of our hearts. And where a group of unlikely strangers can go with only the sound of life on their minds...
~x.x.x.~
Dr. Sunny is actually a man named Samual Norman, a popular psychologist in San Jose, California. He lives a happy life with his wife Maria, and enjoys is wealthy lifestyle...
It is when his wife dies, that his life drastically changes. A middle aged man, left alone with oncoming insanity from such a powerful loss, and no longer able to deal with the psychological problem of his rich whiny clients. Suicide seemed more and more appealing to the lonesome ex-psychologist, but something saved him. And it was the music.
The grunge scene truly opened up in 1991, early on. He listened, and he heard, and he felt like it sparked something in him to live again. The man at first traveled alone, back and forth, to different concerts and things, meeting the youth who lived in this day and age to the fullest... And he took on the nickname Dr. Sunny. And with his newfound hobby, he decided to do something completely spontaneous, and rewarding. He spent his retirement funds on a bus.
A large school bus, nothing special, with the seats removed. He put in the effort to get it cleaned up, and washed. He put in the back of the bus bean bags and a fridge, and several curtained areas. He has a sofa in one section, and the front still has the usual brown leather bus seats. He painted the outside with spray-paint, wild colors of violet, orange, yellow, and blues. A peace sign is on the back, a brilliant trippy sun on the front left side. He's got wild designs all over it, and on the right side it reads "The Sunny Ride".
And with the rest of his money, he has several saving areas. He's got one to pay for festival and concert prices, another for food and hotels, a savings for gas and bus fixes, and a last one for anything else and beyond. And now, with his bus ready, he's prepared for the adventure of a lifetime- traveling from city to city on the west coast looking for a handful of young people (17-29).
And with them, he hopes they'll teach him how to live again, and that he can offer them the ride of a lifetime.
~x.x.x~
This is about a group of strangers (not musicians unless you're character is a solo act who isn't big or famous lol) who are all brought together via a kind yet strange man named Dr. Sunny. You're found, picked up, and welcome to The Sunny Ride. You're on a trip to learn about each other, and to learn about living life. It's about having fun, and letting go of the past and future; all that matters is the present. And it's all about the music. Travel and have fun, from concert to concert, festivals and rock halls. It's all about living, until there's nothing left to live for.

Re: What's The Story, Morning Glory? [ooc/OPEN]
Name: Tyrel Richard, people call me Ty.
Age: 23
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Straight
Profession/Lack of Profession: Stoner, deals marijuana on the side.
Nationality: Born the the USA.
Hometown: San Francisco, California.
Favorite Band: Can't decide between Hawkwind or The Grateful Dead.
Appearance:
Personality: Ty just wants to hang out, and have fun. He is a very carefree person with no ambitions. After most of his friends left town to pursue careers, he fell into a mild depression, increasing his drug use. He loves to party all night long, then laze about the house all day. He lives on his own, has few possessions, and so has no attachment to anything in his life, except for his record collection.
Short bio: Ty was a high school dropout, deciding to pursue relaxation over a steady job. After loafing at his parents for a few years, he dad tossed him out until he cleaned up and found a job. Instead of that, Ty found a small duplex to rent with a single roommate, Tom. He pays for rent by running drugs from Vancouver to San Francisco every month or so, in a run down Cadillac. Tom does not approve of this, having a steady job, and is always trying to get Ty evicted, unsuccessfully. He has lived like this for a couple years, which have mostly been fast and hazy.
Ta da. How is that?

Appearance! I forgot to put that in the code! Lol! oops...
Well, in that case, just edit in an appearance. If you use a picture (which I do prefer) use a real one. (no anime/etc.)
And uh.
yeah.
I'm going to throw my characters up soon myself, and hope this gets a bit more attention.

Re: What's The Story, Morning Glory? [ooc/OPEN]
Name: Samuel Norman / "Dr. Sunny"
Age: 39
Gender: male
Sexuality: straight
Profession/Lack of Profession: Was a Psychiatrist, but is now nothing more than a traveling man seeking a chance at youth again.
Nationality: British/American/Czech (let's just call him a white man)
Hometown: San Jose, California
Favorite Band: Queen
Personality: Welcome to "The Sunny Ride"!
Samuel used to be a solemn man, with his head screwed on tight. Money, love, and a nice home overlooking the city. That's all he had wanted...
-
But now, he's far different. Dr. Sunny is extravagant; wild and outspoken. He always keeps a calm nature about him, and never speaks about his past. He is like a wise father figure, and knows emotions like the back of his hand- even though he refuses to face his own. He hides his sorrows beneath a mask of gentle laughter. As well, he tends to mimic those around him, and even surpass their actions. He is free as a bird in his mind, and seeking to enjoy life to its fullest- a lesson he hopes he can both share and learn with new friends chosen at almost complete random...
Short bio: Dr. Sunny used to be a happy married man, but that all changed when his wife died from cancer. It was then, that he began to fall into a rich depression. He spiraled down into a horrible set of feelings that consumed him... He began to move. Picked up his shit and began to move, place to place to place; seeking happiness. But there was always something missing. Then he met a woman, one young and vibrant and yet rich with emotions. So he, and this young woman, began to be friends. In the city of Albany, he began to feel some reason to live again...
-
From there, he decided to take a risk. He dipped into his funds and bought a bus, cleaned it up, and got ready to go. He invited this young woman who he had nicknamed Orchid onto his bus, and told her that he wanted a grand adventure. And that he was going to pick up others like her- others who wanted a chance at life again- a life of freedom and relaxation, a chance to really live. And off they went- on "The Sunny Ride", going to find a life worth living...
Other:
-Dr. Sunny has something of a lingering depression.
-He has a fluffy dark grey/blue Persian cat on the bus named Jonesy.

Name: Felicity Gordan / "Orchid"
Age: 18
Gender: female
Sexuality: straight
Profession/Lack of Profession: She draws tattoo designs, and when can afford it, buys ink and gives makeshift henna tats for money. She also draws logos and band posters at times when bored.
Nationality: German/Irish/Scottish
Hometown: Albany, California
Favorite Band: Stone Temple Pilots
Personality: Orchid is a free spirit. She's relaxed and laid back, and looks at the world through creative artistic eyes. She tries her best to enjoy every minute, and despises lonesome. Thus, she makes friends very easily, and has no shame in going up to strangers to speak. Music sings to her soul, and though she has no musical talent, she dreams of a day when she can have true friends to go back and forth with to such events. She dreams of meeting the bands and whatnot. As well, she also wants to make a name for herself, always dreaming. She's carefree and nonchalant, but in truth she is quite loving and serene, and offers her compassion and connection with anyone who'd take it.
Short bio: Felicity is an orphan, or was at least. She bounced through three unique foster homes, each of which left her with the sinking feelings of not belonging. At the age of sixteen, she ran away and found a home in the seemingly abandoned tattoo parlor in downtown Albany. But it was not as abandoned as she thought, as a man named Richard came to open up the next day. He kicked her out, again and again, but she returned every time. She loved art, and wanted to learn more, and she always wanted to hear his radio in the early mornings when her favorite bands came on.
-
Finally, after a short bit of time, he let her in. And it began to a wonderful cycle, and Orchid finally felt like she belonged. She learned to tattoo with a mechanic needle, but as well henna. The ink making was something she couldn't exactly get right, but after a while she got a good enough recipe to suffice. She learned to sell and create, and Richard became like her big brother.
-
She then came to live with Richard, working to sell tattoo designs to his customers, as well as create henna for the younger crowd or those going too and from concerts in search of non-permanent art. Orchid then met Dr. Sunny, who at the time was just Samuel, sitting on the street-side. He stared emptily into the street, and she didn't understand why. So she went and met him, and they became quick friends. She thought that he had a unique aura about him, and he thought the same of her. And all to her surprise, he bought a bus and painted it, and told her they- as well as others of which he and she did not know yet- we going on a ride to learn about life.
Other:
-Orchid is ADHD
-She is best friends with Mary Jane
-Orchid was raped at 13, and feels like, because of it, her relationships with men are often failing, dysfunctional, or unreasonably awkward.

Re: What's The Story, Morning Glory? [ooc/OPEN]
Name: Michael McFayne
Age: 21
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Straight
Profession/Lack of Profession:He doesn't really have a profession now seeing as how he was discharged from the military, all of which he can do being illegal in the states...
Nationality: American/Native American
Hometown: Nacogdoches, Texas
Favorite Band: A little known band at the time, The Smashing Pumpkins, but as far as main stream goes at that point, he would have to say it's a clear tie between Stone Temple Pilots and Nirvana.
Personality:Michael is a very strong individual, believing in what he feels is right and not shifting even an inch. He's easy to get a long with, though depending on who it is, he'll end up screwing with you first before he opens up. He lives for family and friends, and treats his friends as if they were his family, being a little distant from his own ever since he came of age. At times he can be very dark in his thoughts, though doesn't vocalize them, thinking the worst of others before even giving them a chance. He loves challenges and wont stop until he completes them, often getting himself annoyed until doing what ever he has his eyes set on. With his military background, he sleeps with one eye open (in a sense, meaning he's a very light sleeper), and obeys rules set to him. He's very responsible, being the kind of person you could trust your life with.
Short bio:Michael was born on December 31'st of 1969 in Nacogdoches, Texas. His parents were easy going blue collared workers, though didn't seem to care what their son did as long as he didn't kill himself. With this, Michael could nearly get away with murder, and found himself lurking around the darker sides of the city, finding older friends in the nearby college, and learning about life at an early age. When he was young, the college kids used to call him "Dime Bag", but wasn't exactly sure why, always being the one to carry these small bags of odd smelling green stuff. By the age of ten, he picked up hunting and fishing, going to the Angelina river which was just a short ways from his home. It was here where he got into his first fist fight, and has his first make out session with a girl five years older than himself. He grew up quick, but seemed to keep himself out of trouble quite well, the tree's around the river keeping prying eyes away.
When he was seventeen, he began to find that his life seemed like it wasn't going to go very far, having quite good grades in high school, but not wishing to continue his education. He began looking into the military, beginning to hear more and more about the wars going on over seas. The death of his closest of kin, a cousin who he met about three times, but had admired for quite some time, stirred his patriotism and without thinking, joined the Marines. His parents honored his decision and allowed him to partake in the United States Armed Forces without trying to get him out of it. Basic Training was a bitch for the first two weeks, but he warmed up to the rigorous training rather quickly, bulking up from his once lanky stature to a more ripped version. He graduated top on his class in marksmanship, and was sent through sniper classes, though was kicked out due to his problem with staying still for ample amounts of time. With this, he was issued an M16A2 and sent to the front lines with his comrades. He was put straight into the Battle of Khafji, and was quick to learn how ones train of thought moved when their life was at risk, and his changed to a more hostile movement. He was quick to the trigger, taking down every hostile in front of him... Though his quick aim and trigger finger couldn't save him from a deadly sniper from the Iraqi forces.
Everything happened so fast, the sound of the blast from the enemies muzzle, then a force which drove him back into the ground, a burning sensation ripping through his torso. Michael hit the ground, his right hand coming up and pressing down on the entrance wound. His face went pale white as thoughts of death entered his mind, but the fire of life still wishing to burn behind his eyes. One of his basic buddies grabbed his rifle, throwing it over his back and took Michael left arm, hauling him behind cover as he roared for a medic, one luckily showing up quite early. If not for his friend, who was later shot by the same sniper, he would be dead today, and the giant scar on his abs is a reminder of this. He was given a purple heart for his actions in this battle, and sent home back to his family. He found early on that he has the occasional flash backs, finding himself waking up to the scar on his abdominal to be burning enough to make the once hardened marine feel the blood rush from his face, and his right hand to cover the old wound once again. It wasn't long after this that he decided he would move out and begin scouring the states for something... more.
Other: If you know how to push his buttons, you can piss him of extremely quickly. These normally involve threatening his friends, or speaking ill of the military.

It's crazy how something could be forgotten, and then months later we attract one more person. I'm still on for this.
