Re: The Complaints Thread >:(
I swear...
if my possibilities for a future were not hinged on the test results a subject I do not ever plan on ever using on a professional or even regular basis I would burn the damn book to ashes... or at least give it to someone who DOES have interested in said area.
I speak of chemistry.
Ladies, gents, you heard my previous complaint regarding low grades. Last time it was on a subject that actually mattered, which is fine, I got over that. It wasn't dreadful. However, this time... this time, 'tis different, because not only is it an F, it is the second consecutive F I've received in chemistry (the first one was an open-book test in which I got a 66... don't look at me like that, just because it was open book does NOT make it THAT much easier to do the equations). This time, however, was a closed book test. I got a 62.
And it was a closed book test because it was an important one. I have but two closed book tests in this semester, both contributing to 50% of my semester average.
I take comfort in having my best, but if my best will not get me through highschool, then to my misfortune, my best is not good enough.
My best studying alone, anyway. That's the funky part about homeschooling online, you have to do everything yourself. No teachers, no guidance beyond what you must read... you, yourself, et tu only. So, we've gotten to the point where I need a tutor.
I have 20 days to finish the entire semester. Twenty days. Otherwise, I will be unable to enroll into a proper school that doesn't require me to stare at the screen all day and, whoop-dee-doo, another year of yet more screen-staring. Not only THAT, but I can't even wait until next year because, apparently, the board of education has a little problem with people who are just the slightest bit older than the average student.
*sigh*
I feel trapped. I need time to study, there's not enough time to study. It's like a pressure cooker and the pressure is driving me inane and insane.

): That's why I didn't take chemistry, Adrius. Same for physics; 'cause I totally would have failed both the classes.
But I'm really sorry that you're not doing well in that class! Your story for that class is mine for Psychology -- a class where the teacher claimed that he 'wasn't that worried' if you got in the 60s. I took the class for fun, and it screwed me over...

Believe me, that's what I thought at first, too. But the teacher was a quack.
All I want is to take a good psychology class, where we can do fun experiments. ;-; That's all I've wanted since high school, and yet it eludes me every time.

Hell, psychology would even be GREAT for me. Part of being an actor is learning to get into the mindset of your character. The only thing I fear is becoming TOO tied to academic labels, thus keeping me from expanding my horizons.
For example...
Phobia to pens.
*looks into the book*
Not there. Can't use it. Too bad! Would have been great, but nope.

Re: The Complaints Thread >:(
I lucked out. I never took Chemistry, and my Psych teacher was super easy. We always had open book tests, and we mostly had class discussions and we would watch some really interesting informational videos about the subject.

Dimnaliphobia, according to one random website. Either it's real, or they made it up and it sounds real.
Plus, being academically in there, you can make things up and not have people immediately question you! (Or when they go "really? o: " you say yes and they believe you, haha.)
You don't have teachers? o: Do you take it online? Or are you home-schooled?
---
I complain that there's a bit of a lull of interest when it comes to the part I'm currently writing. We're in the middle of two pieces of action, so yeah.

I've always wondered how taking classes online works. How do they prevent you from cheating? o:

Proctors. These are either hired strangers or honest family friends (cannot be family) that oversee your closed-book exams. They have a proctor code so only they can print the test and only they can submit it. That's how they prevent cheating.
The rest? You order books, they get mailed to you, you log on into an account and see what you gotta do and then you do it. Sounds easy without the details.
It makes you realize not to take trained professional educators for granted, especially when you're balls-to-the-wall with an equation or other piece of information you simply can't work out on your own without getting a migraine.

Oh wow, that sounds really interesting. But yeah, I can definitely see how it'd be difficult if you didn't understand something and had no one to ask.
Of course, it's still a great alternative to whacked out teachers, as well as classes you'd hate to have to sit through every day. -starts thinking back to her awful earth science class, where she practically was teaching herself-

Now think about "having to sit down" and listen to those lessons... no, no, READ those lessons.
Willingly.
Re: The Complaints Thread >:(
Hmm... Well, that still sounds exactly like my earth science class. All he did was give us a ditto and then spend the rest of the class reading the ditto aloud to us and asking us questions (to which he gave us no chance to respond at all before moving on).
But yeah, online classes definitely aren't for me. -doesn't have the patience or attention span to sit there on her own every day-

I think we've squeezed all the complaint we can on the subject. Should we move to something else?

I could be, if you wanted. o:
Every time I've tried to load the chat box, I always end up leaving right away. It might have something to do with the fact that 'Lara' is taken, and not by me. ):

Ahhh, yeah. If your username is taken, then it won't work. It's silly like that.

Yeah, but I got around it easily enough.
I complain that for all Spectre's complaining, he's not talking at all in the chat room. ):

On no cohesive note with the previous conversation...
Fuck I hate babysitting people. Adults should be able to act and function properly as adults. Why should I have to take care of things for these people? If my own personal future wasn't involved, I'd certainly leave them all to flounder and drown on their own.
Life's a learning experience. Take that time to fucking grow up and take care of yourself. Shit... If you can't learn how to swim, let alone float, then maybe you deserve to sink.
I'm tired of being the only one responsible enough to do all this easy crap. Man, I wish I could just fork myself in the eye and be done with it...

I love to swim. I think it is important to learn how to swim at an early age, too, because it can be really useful later in life. Seriously... Plus, it's an amazing full-body work out.

What the hell was I on last night when I posted only a period?!
I complain the fact that I have no memory of doing so. I blame sleep walking.
EDIT: Oh wait! I posted a picture there. Now I remember! *goes to put picture back*

I'm so irritated with the Literate Role Playing guild. They are angry because people aren't following rules. However, they have admitted that because of real life issues, they left the guild un-moderated and therefore there was no one online to enforce the rules.
Now they have come back and are unleashing their fury on people who had no idea that the rules were suddenly back into play, having not realized that the moderators were not there in the first place!
-whew- that was kind of confusing.

Well... I would have been angry, too. I mean... just because a moderator isn't there to babysit the members, doesn't mean the rules are suddenly no longer important. For example, just because the cops aren't there to catch you, doesn't mean you should burn down a building.

Re: The Complaints Thread >:(
While I agree with you there, my situation is sort of backward.
It's more like, a boss took an extended leave of absence from their job and came back months later to find that their employees hadn't been doing things correctly. Of course, the employees knew the basic rules, but sometimes there are situations outside of the handbook, or a rule breaker gets lazy and others follow suit. So, things become relaxed because the boss is gone (in real life this tends to happen...) Then the boss comes back and is pissed off because things aren't the way they want them.
But if they weren't there in the first place to enforce the rules (which is the point of a boss, moderator, etc), and left no one in charge, then how can they truly be upset at their employees? Isn't it their own failure?

The world naturally degenerates into Chaos without a stringent ordinator of Order. Therefore, once the ordinator steps out, the world will slowly return to its "natural" state of chaos. The ordinator cannot then return angry because nature has taken its natural course. It is to be expected.
Honest to Bob, that's what I learned in my physics class.
