Times have changed.....(August 26th 2009)

In a crowd of lonely people,

Walking through the lonely streets,

I think of what the world once was,

And what it's come to be.

People used to take the time,

To spare a smile and hello.

Now such times are just a lie,

Everyone is simply go go go.

You used to know your neighbor's name,

He could even become a close friend.

Now he's just another face,

In this sea that never ends.

Once upon a time,

maybe not so long ago,

the worst that we could do

was pierce a heart with an arrow and bow.

But the times they keep on changing,

bringing violence and chaos into our midst.

With just the push of a button,

we can turn thousands into bits.

Don't tell me you can't see,

No one can be so blind,

so next time you pass a stranger on the street,

keep this in mind.

One simple smile,

Can brighten up a day.

Take the time to slow it down,

Think of what's been thrown away.

Madame Moon and Monsieur Sun. (April 24th 2009)

It's the end of the day

So the sun goes away,

The curtains of his stage draw to a close.

But this show is not done,

Instead of Monsieur Sun,

Madame Moon will strike a pose.

Her soft glow is not blinding,

Unlike the Sun's bright shining,

Her beauty comes from within.

The night is her cloak,

With stars all afloat.

Alas! Such beauty should be a sin.

But oh before too long,

With a sad parting song,

Madame Moom must fall.

So we spend another day,

In the Sun's warming rays,

Until true beauty comes to call. (Wrote this one in a computer lab....Can someone explain how I got the idea there? Odd.)

Peace. (May 18th, 2009)

I had a strange dream one night,

I was standing in a field.

Soldiers stood on either side,

all so frightening and real.

The first shot rang out,

Drowning out my plea!

"Violence is not the answer!

All of you listen to me!"

The bullets fell like a hardened rain,

A smattering of Grenades for hail.

Watching people fall around me,

I felt so young and frail.

"Stop!" I shouted.

"You blind people don't you see?!

The true answer is not in your guns,

But in a magic called peace!"

The bullet rain came to a stop,

There were no more grenades.

I began to feel triumphant,

A shepherd to lead the way.

The soldiers took each other's hands,

It seemed a glorious day.

But sadly that's when I awoke,

and looked to my tv.

Violence still ran the news,

From here to somewhere overseas.

With a sigh now I begin to think,

"Will there ever be peace?"

(That one was written during current events in school...)
