Re: The Chatterbox Thread
Mez, shush! The Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix was my favorite book. I think that was the fifth one, too. I remember when I first borrowed it from the library, my older brother also borrowed it ((Phoenix has a ton of copies of books)). He finished his in eight hours ((damnable speed readers)). I took four days, but I read that thing non-stop, except for food, bathroom breaks, and sleep. It was great. I hate being a slow reader, but I'd rather read it slowly and have time to think about all sorts of things about what I just read than speeding through it and trying to remember what I read when I'm done.
Fate, I don't blame you. I'm a lot better at typing than I am at speaking. Well... I'm actually a really good talker, but I'm more intelligent when I type, and I don't have to worry about not being able to properly hear what someone said because I can read it as many times as I want without having to say, "What?" fifty billion times. :: kicks minor hearing loss ::

Re: The Chatterbox Thread
I have unnatural wax build-up, slight hearing problems, and short term memory loss. I often cannot remember what I ate that day or what the date is or what day of the week it is. I ask "What?" so damned much... hehe.
Re: The Chatterbox Thread
I have minor hearing loss. You know that ringing/high pitched buzzing sound you hear when there isn't any noise to distract you? That noise is the noise that happens when the tiny hairs inside your ears are damaged, causing you to not hear as well as you could before they were damaged. Apparently, they can never be repaired.

Re: The Chatterbox Thread
I get that too. I also hear my heart beat and it sometimes sounds like someone breathing in and out (and it's not me).
I heard (ba-dum-kish!) that the hairs are damaged by simply laying down, like brushing your hair down when it sticks up. They can't stand ever again.

Re: The Chatterbox Thread
I agree that it's better to read slower to take it all in and remember it better than to speed read through something (unless it's something you don't like). :]
I also like being able to think out what I'm saying properly rather than just saying it. Many times, the way I word things in person I would have rather of worded a different way.
That's too bad about your minor hearing loss, too. I know what you're talking about from the ringing when it's quiet. I didn't realize it was from that though. That's interesting, but too bad that it's not repairable.

I think I'm pretty similar face to face as I am online.

Re: The Chatterbox Thread
The thing was that my brother's speed reading was just like my regular reading. I quizzed him on the fifth H.P. book, and he knew/remembered everything about which I quizzed him. I know I'm intelligent, but I often felt pretty... unintelligent around him because he was really freaking smart. I just happened to have more common sense than him, but to me common sense wasn't as important... at least not at the time. I valued academic knowledge more, but now I just see myself as well-rounded.

Re: The Chatterbox Thread
It's storming outside. The thunder was really loud last night. It woke me up and startled me. I don't mind it so much though during the day (so long as I don't have to go out in it). Do you guys like thunderstorms?
Re: The Chatterbox Thread
Quite lol. I normally go outside and read when it's storming. Just, turn off the TV, get away from the computer, grab a book and go read It's my escape

Re: The Chatterbox Thread
That sounds really nice, Gunneh. I imagine you're reading under something though, right? Lol I was just picturing you reading outside on a lawn chair as the pages of your book are getting soaked! xD

Pfft. I go commando while speed-reading Lord of the Rings during Tornadoes while riding the cows whom are also flying uncontrollably as I behead fence posts screaming "THERE CAN ONLY BE ONE!"
That's pretty relaxing. Now, what I do to get a rush...

Re: The Chatterbox Thread
...No. I'm on puppy watch. Flame has a litter of 10 on the way, and it's her first litter, so her first birthing will be difficult. We suspect it'll be sometime this weekend.
Re: The Chatterbox Thread
Don't listen to Gunneh's pleas for everyone to go into the chatroom. As soon as you're there, he ignores you for Skype! ^o_o^
Anyway... I gave my cat a bath last night. He wasn't happy about it at the time, but he came to cuddle with me on the couch when he was mostly dry. Oatmeal really makes him soft.

Hey now! That was just last night, and it was only because Deadpan was online, and he's gonna be gone most of the summer at his job at a camp. Stupid friend stealing camp... lol

I have to concede the point to Gunneh: Deadpan is awesome enough to warrant otherwise unacceptable ignorinating.

Re: The Chatterbox Thread
Birthing is complete!
Flame only had 9 puppies, not 10. Still, at selling $1,800 USD per puppy, it's still a hefty sum of cash they're getting. One puppy died in the womb, so Flame needed a c-section to have the dead puppy and two others removed. In total, 8 healthy puppies are being nursed by their mommy.
I'm happy. =)
If I can, I'll grab a few pictures before I leave on Tuesday.

Re: The Chatterbox Thread
Aww, congrats to the new mommy! That's sad that the one died in the womb, but at least she ended up with 8 healthy ones. Oh, and yes, some dogs are worth quite a lot, especially coming from a breeder. It takes so much knowledge on genetics to produce healthy animals with traits that people find attractive. I was looking into it briefly once, and boy is it complicated! So yeah, definitely understandable.
Oh, yes, pictures please! ^_^

They need food, Sighlent. You can't not feed them and expect them not to die some horrible death. ^o_~^

Re: The Chatterbox Thread
No I mean horrible, horrible deaths.
For example:
Nana (Cat) - Found him beheaded on my way to school on day.
CG short for Curious George (Cat) - Got stepped on by my step dad when he was just a baby and got squashed.
Ozzy (Cat) - Board fell on him when he was a baby, his neck broke.
Fizzy (Cat) - Drown in our pool when he was a baby...did I mention the pool was ABOVE ground.
Booger (Cat) - Was eaten from the inside out by ants.
Miss Priss (Dog) - Ate herself to death.
Hamster (Duh) - Had a heart attack in his wheel and died in a running position.
Chip and Dale (Hampsters) - Ate each other.
A massive amount of flying squirrels (we used to breed them) whom are to numerous to name - Swallowed by our pet snake, Giles, who therein died shortly after.
Gizmo (Dog) - Got ran over...by a tractor!
And no I'm not kidding. About ANY OF THESE. Let's just say you don't exactly go back behind our pool. It's our Pet Cemetary.

Re: The Chatterbox Thread
Yeah... I think you should never have pets lest you want to curse them to torturous doom.

Re: The Chatterbox Thread
Oh good god why do they let you buy pets why why why?
And my grandmother actually wrote the book on Bernese Mountain Dogs. She's bred 63 champions, and those are dogs that she SHOWED, not just bred.
She's a good breeder.
