Halloween 2009.
So it's about that time of year to start thinking about what you plan on being for Halloween! I just figured I'd make a thread wherein we can discuss our costumes, help each other out, and later on post pictures once this wondrous night occurs!
First question first, who or what are you going to be?
Me? Mines simple:
The Gown I Want to Get.

Oh, Sighlent, you will be absolutely beautiful in Belle's gown! :] I love it. I hope you will be able to get it! I'd be excited to see pictures of you! Will your husband be dressing up as anything?
Tony and I haven't dressed up for Halloween in a couple years, I think...? We don't really have the money to afford paying for a costume, not to mention anywhere we could go in it (since we don't have friends in this area >.<). However! If I were to dress up, I would probably be Buffy the Vampire Slayer. That would be awesome. xD

Re: Halloween 2009.
I dress up every year! Halloween is my favorite holiday. Two years ago, we had a pirate theme, it was so much fun! last year I had to take it easy, because I had just given birth. I was supposed to be a black widow, but I had the baby early and ended up just being a vampire-ish thing. Theoden was yoda. He was so cute!
Anyway, on topic...I wanted to be Mrs. Lovett for halloween but I don't know if I can afford the costume. My other options are zombie or vampire (these two are just too easy, good backup if I can't come up with anything good...)

Re: Halloween 2009.
I plan to use the outfit I wore to the renaissance faire as my Halloween costume. So I'm basically going to be a gypsy (especially since I can't bring the staff I bought at the faire 'cause I'm too afraid of it breaking. ): ).
It's a big improvement, considering how I've been a Jedi every Halloween for the past five years. ^^; /unoriginal

I haven't dressed up in Halloween in forever...if I were to dress up, I would probably dress up as Sho Minamimoto, and spout random math phrases as I gathered sweets. Yes..I still like my sweets.
Re: Halloween 2009.
Update...I'm definitely going to be Mrs. Lovett. I bought a big black skirt...I just need a shirt and corset. I already have wild brown hair and sunken dark eyes, so I won't have to worry much on hair and makeup XD

Re: Halloween 2009.
Halloween is my favorite! I love dressing up! I also attend Ren fairs and events like Sci Fi conventions, gaming cons and more, so I get to dress up 12 or 13 times a year and as a result have dozens of costumes in my closets. Having a dedicated sewing room is another plus. It's so fun when I have different wigs how people don't realize the person they saw yesterday is the same person they're looking at today, until I speak. Then they're always stunned.
I've noticed people only see hair and clothes...and in most cases cleavage. I'd make a killing robbing stores in costume. The only dead give-away would be my height. LOLs
Here's a few of my many costumes:

Haven't had time to dress up in the past couple of years... Both for Halloween and for conventions. I have a feeling it will happen the same this year as well. Oh well. You guys have fun. X3

I'm dressing up as a paranoid, libertarian nutjob trying to build a survival bunker.
I will look like I always do.

Re: Halloween 2009.
I love dressing up for Halloween! I rarely miss a year.
Last year, I was Alice from Alice in Wonderland.
When I was seventeen, I was a fox-morph.
When I was sixteen, I was a fallen angel.
At fifteen, I was Magenta from The Rocky Horror Picture Show.
When I was fourteen, I didn't have a real costume, but my friend let me wear her red shirt and these daemon horns she had.
When I was thirteen, I was a pirate wench.
At twelve, I was an insane asylum patient with a black straight jacket.
I don't really remember what I was before that... I know there were a few witches and vampires and pumpkins...
This year is going to be the ultimate year, for it is the by far the most expensive. I am going to be an Elf from Middle Earth. I even have a quest thread to find the things I need! Quest Thread! ^^_^^

Wow, thanks Fate. I really hope I get to get that dress! Even more so is that I hope we actually find something to do for Halloween - even if it's just going to Virginia Beach and walking around.
Re: Halloween 2009.
My friend, Laura, and I love to go trick-or-treating. We decided that when we're twenty-one, we're too old to go trick-or-treating, but before that it's fine. Sadly, she turns twenty-one two weeks before Halloween next year. I think she's just going to go "supervise" me or something when next year rolls around. ^^_^^

Re: Halloween 2009.
I haven't trick or treated in years...but that's because we always make a big display and put on a scary show for the neighbors. Our house is the one that little kids run away from, screaming for their life...

Re: Halloween 2009.
When I was about six years old, I was trick-or-treating, and there was this one house that my mom told me not to go to because it would scare me. Being the little defiant one- and wanting to be like my big brother who was probably nine at the time- I walked up with him, and out of the garage came gliding these guys in all black, making some frightening noise, and I ran away crying because it had scared me so much. =3

Re: Halloween 2009.
Sounds like our house!
We love playing 'pretend'. We'll be sitting in a costume, sometimes stuffed up a bit with fake limbs and the like, and prop ourselves up on a bench or against a wall. We'll let the group walk past us to get the candy, but when they go to walk away we jump up and scare them! It almost always works, especially with the kids but sometimes adults too! We just have to make sure there aren't any really little ones around (like 5 or younger) because we aren't that mean Even if we don't pop out and scare them, sometimes just sitting there is enough to give them the 'heeby jeebies'. Toss up some fake web and some black lights, you've got yourself a real treat ^_^

Re: Halloween 2009.
So the big day is drawing near for those of us who are dressing up! And although I couldn't get the Belle costume, I AM still going to be a princess. Only not a well known one. Rather just one I made up while wandering through the costume store. So my idea is that I'm going to be an Ice Queen instead. ^_^
Here are some pictures of my costume:

Aww, that's so adorable, Sighlent! The crown is gorgeous. I can't wait to see you in it!
Re: Halloween 2009.
Still haven't gotten my Mrs. Lovett costume...may have to give up on it and be something else instead.
On a more positive note, This is what Taeo is going to be for Halloween:

*blinks*
I stopped trick-or-treating when I turned 13. :F Instead, I sit on the porch in a robe. It has this gauzy stuff that looks creepy in the dark. Combined with a hood where you can't see my face, and glowing red eyes, it's perfect.
Though, I take the hood off for the little ones.
I might have to update the costume, though. I'm about three or four inches too tall for it.
EDIT: Glancing through the costumes, and they still have the old one. I might just get a bigger size, or switch to the headless horseman.

Just adding some pants with that gauzy-filmy stuff attached to it will fill in at the bottom of the gown and be pretty comfy to boot, Stion.

xD I do wear pants. It's a black robe beneath the gauzy film. I'll have a picture taken this year, hopefully.

Re: Halloween 2009.
You know, every Halloween I busy myself with doing costume contests, and doing the makeup for different parties. I used to work for some Haunted Houses and did the makeup there, before running after people with chainsaws... (Which was fun.) But this year, I actually haven't made any plans yet, and I'm sort of at a loss of what to do. However, I've decided that if I do dress up, I'm going to keep it simple. I'll probably be a SIM.

Re: Halloween 2009.
Every year a group of us do make-up for the annual Zombie Walk, It's so fun and the proceeds go to charity. But, for me, the best party is dressing up! It's my fav thing ever!
This year, it's a toss up for a costume; Zombie Dorothy of Oz or Zombie Go-Go from Kill Bill.
Votes anyone?

Definitely Zombie Dorothy! XD
See we're not going Tricker Treating really. We're just dressing up for the kids, and well I want something slutty sorta but something they could relate too...let's just say that luckily the petticoat underneath covers enough. Just so long as I don't bend over. ^__^

Re: Halloween 2009.
So, I'm going as slutty Mrs. Lovett...lol
It's not really slutty...just shorter than I would have liked. But the theme of the dress is defintely Mrs. Lovett daydreaming "by the sea" material.
And...since it's original inspiration is from Alice in Wonderland, you can't go wrong XD

Re: Halloween 2009.
I don't think I'm going to dress up this year. I don't have any inspiration for it. I kind of...just don't care.
On another Halloween note, whenever I get my first house I want to decorate it in preparation for a zombie apocalypse. That means boarding up the windows, fencing off the yard, placing out fake bodies all bloodied and shot up, and writing signs up on the roof. Perhaps spraying blood colored stuff on the walls. You know, what you would expect to see in the middle of a zombie invasion
The only problem is the cost in fixing the house after I put holes in the wall and screw up the paint. But that is why i want to do it the first year I get the house. Another problem is convincing my wife to let me do it...

I would want a lot of money. I'd commission Weta or something to make me some mithril armor and greenish clothing be the REAL me for Costume Night!
