Show Me Your Pets!
This is sort of like the Post Yo' Picture thread, but this is strictly for pets. You can be in the picture with your pet, but this is going to highlight them.
I have one pet right now. He is a kitty, and he is named Ipo. He'll be three years old this August. He was an adorable kitten, and he's a beautiful cat. I bathed him last night, so I was able to take pictures of him that didn't look scroungy and flea-ridden.
Kitten Ipo
07.22.09 He's standing there, expecting me to stoop to his level just to pet him.
07.22.09 Finally, he decided he needed to raise himself to my level for affection.
07.22.09 This is my favorite picture from today. It's also the clearest.

Re: Show Me Your Pets!
Awww, Kathryn, your cat's adorable! I wanna hug him.
This is my puppy, Kasey! (Well, she's not really a puppy, since she's around seven years old, but she'll always be my puppy to me...) She's a Cockapoo.
This was taken during Thanksgiving break '08. She was chilling on the couch.
This was also Thanksgiving break. Or rather, on the car ride back to school. I think she was staring me down.
This one was taken earlier this month! Her hair's starting to grow back in again from when we had her groomed.
And this one was taken just a few minutes ago. She's sitting outside on her 'throne'.

@Kathryn: AWWWWW!!!!! Your kitty is adorable! He looks really sweet. I have a cat as well, but I'm afraid the picture exceeds 500x500 pixels. How do I resize it?
@Lara: I've actually never seen a Cockapoo before, but she's really cute!

Re: Show Me Your Pets!
Aww. I agree. Lara, your dog is sooo cute. She looks like she expects you to do something odd to her in the car which would account for the sidelong glance.
Well, if you have some sort of photo editor or something of that nature, the simplest thing to do is to select the Image drop-down option at the top ((along with File, Edit, View, etc.)) and select resize. Another way to do it is to type SHIFT+S.
If you only have Paint, open the picture in Paint first.
Select the Image drop-down menu.
Choose Stretch/Skew or type CTRL+W.
Under the Stretch Option type 90 % Horizontal and 90% Vertical.
Click OK.
Repeat the process until you achieve the desired size.
It's the only way in Paint that I have learned that edits the size without ruining the picture, and if you do it slowly with the 90/90 thing, then you don't risk making the picture way too small.

Re: Show Me Your Pets!
I apologize in advance if this piccy is too big. I tried to resize it in photobucket, and I don't know if it worked. Anyway, this is my cat Hannah. She showed up at our door one night after Hurricane Hannah and basically adopted us. We think someone put her out, even though she's declawed and spayed. She's definitely the queen bee of the house lol.
EDIT: I officially fail at resizing pictures. The photo was too big, so I had to delete it. I'm afraid you'll have to make do with the description that Hannah is a fat tabby cat with an attitude XP.

You don't have Paint? I thought all computers came with Paint by default... If you click Start in the bottom left corner of your screen, go to All Programs, then to Accessories, Paint should be there.
You can also send it ((or a link to it)) to me, and I can resize it if you need.

I have a Mac, and Macs don't come with Paint.

That's the link to the picture. It resized just fine on Photobucket, but it was still monstrous when I tried to insert the image into my post. I'm sure I'm just missing something really obvious.
Ah well, just failed my IQ test of the day XP

Aww, you all have such adorable pets!! I'll have to gather pictures of my two. I have a cat and a dog. It'll be my next project, hehe.
Re: Show Me Your Pets!
Holy crap, Silvan! Your cat is like a fat version of a cat I once had. That picture is priceless, though. It looks like he's like, "Yeah. I'm taking up the entire cushion. What of it?"

Re: Show Me Your Pets!
Hahaha...yeah, she definitely has a diva personality. And wow, that's wild that your cat looked like mine! We really didn't mean for her to get fat, but she gets really upset when her food bowl gets empty. We think whoever owned her before us didn't treat her well, or she went a long time without eating until she came to us. But it's okay. We love her anyway ^_^

Re: Show Me Your Pets!
Well, no one likes their pets to go hungry, but you need to learn when to draw the line. Ipo's head was getting too small for his body, and when he runs, his flab sways side to side... like... when he's jogging directly toward you, you can see his flab swing to one side and then the next.
Now I have a rule. He gets one scoop of a food a day, and I refill it at 8pm or 9pm depending on how much food is left in his dish. At first, he ate like always, but he learned to ration on throughout the day, and he became a healthier cat for it. One scoop is generous, too. It fills the dish, so it's not like we're only giving him a pinch of food a night. We always keep his water dish clean and full of water no matter what time of day it is.
As a pet owner, you need to assert yourself as their master, and it's your duty to take care of them. Some animals will eat and eat and eat no matter how full or how much food is given to them. Puppies are notorious for this, but other animals do it, too. If you set a routine feeding, your cat would likely stop bitching and get used to it, quite honestly.

Re: Show Me Your Pets!
I'm all for rationing food like you said, but while I'm at college, my parents are the ones that feed her. I've tried talking to them several times about it, but my dad doesn't really listen. I'll keep trying, though, because I really don't want her to stay fat.

She'll live longer if she's able to lose weight. Have you brought that subject up?

I probably have in the past, but I'll bring it up again. Once I'm done with summer research, I'm going home for a few weeks before college starts up again, so I'll talk to my parents again about how much they're feeding her.

Re: Show Me Your Pets!
Kathryn, your affectionate, sweet kitty is adorable and... *snuggles with Lara's cockapoo*
And I know the weight may not be healthy for her, but Silvan, that picture is just... awwwwww... : ) I want to rub her tummy (and probably have three of five fingers removed from my hand for the effrontery... but still... XD )
These are just two pictures of my dog, Rosie. Yup, she's a pit bull. She's also a shelter dog, and probably the sweetest, gentlest dog we've ever had:

Awww...your pit bull looks really sweet. I hate that they get such bad reputations because of their association with illegal fighting rings. They can really be amazing family dogs, and yours seems to be a perfect example.

Re: Show Me Your Pets!
I agree that I want to rub Silvan's kitty's belly, but it's still unhealthy. ^o_~^
Besides, I've never met a cat that enjoyed a belly rub... well... actually... sometimes my cat just lies there to get his rubbed, and he seems to enjoy it for about half a minute, but after that he starts to get twitchy and angry. Sometimes, he likes to trap you into a belly rub just so he can have an excuse to attack your hand. He's funny like that.
Igraine, your pit bull is really adorable. I'm so glad you guys didn't have his ears clipped. I think ear clipping is really cruel, and dogs look better with their natural ears.
I also hate that pit bulls get bad reputations. Some are really sweet, but it really depends on the individual dog. There was this thing on the news a long time ago about a man who left his baby unattended with his pit bulls, and they ate the baby. Of course, we don't know anything about the man except that his ex-wife told him to get rid of the dogs or keep them locked up when the baby was there. It's sad.
Also, I was snapped at by a Chow for no reason, but I have only ever encountered nice Chows since then. :: shrugs ::
I want to pet your Pit Bull! He looks like a sweetie!

Post Pictures of Your Pets!
Many of us are loving pet owners, so let's have a thread specifically devoted to our animals and critter children! Share some pictures of your pets!
Right now, onenitedrive/Tony and I only own rats. We have 4 boys, but we previously had 2 more males (brothers), who have since passed on. The original 2 boys we had came from a pet store, and their names were Ghost and Gizmo. Right now, we have Goliath and Gecko (brothers), and Gambit and Gryphon (brothers). They come from rat breeders and have lovable personalities.
I'll start with the oldest pics first!
Here are Ghost and Gizmo when we first got them. They were soooo tiny!
Here's Gizmo full grown and in his prime!
And Ghostie :]
No! Run away from the bath!
Whispering in momma's ear ^^
This was after we got Gecko and Goliath. It was the whole family! Goliath is the darkest one.
Goliath is a momma's boy.
Gecko is like a little squirrel.
Poor Ghostie was the first to leave us... His immune system was low after having been neutered (he was aggressive toward our new boys), so he caught an upper respiratory infection, and rats are extremely good at hiding their sickness, since in the wild, if other rats in their colony notice they are sick, they will pick them off, because they are their weakest link.
Here's me with him not long before he died.
Gizmo got beat up a lot in his old age. You can see here he has some fur missing. Gryphon took over as leader, and he rules quite harshly, picking on anyone he can to maintain dominance. Gizmo however died of a pituitary tumor.
Then we later got Gryphon and Gambit. Here's Gryphon. He was the most unique rat ever, since when he was young, he had a mask around his eyes, but that later faded!
Here's his brother Gambit when he was little. Gambit is the most social with us of them all. :]
Here's me with Goliath. ^^
Gecko thinks he's people!
So does Gambit!
Gambit's a sweetheart.
Here's Gryphon now.
Goliath is curious about what's under the door.
Here are the most recent pictures I have of Goliath and Gambit.

Re: Show Me Your Pets!
Oh dear...you're going to be sorry you started this thread. LOLS
I currently have two dogs and two cats. The cats, naturally, rule the roost.
This is my Gizmo. A Pembroke Welsh Corgi
This is Chase, a standard wire-haired dauchsund
Mojo, a farm cat with a gorgeous silver pelt and a tilt to the right.
And my black and white Tuxie helping his Dad with his coding.
I have tons more photos...as all good moms do. But I'll refrain from loading up the bandwith with htem. lols

Re: Show Me Your Pets!
-deep breath-
I've decided to organize my pets by location. There is a lot here, so feel free to pass on the bios and just look at the pictures here goes:
These are the pets I live with. They are my grandparents pets, not mine, and I take no responsibility for their ugliness or bratiness...
Mindy is the second oldest pet here. She's been around a long time, and she used to be a great dog. In her old age, she's gotten lazy and hard to care for...but that's ok. I still love her.
I can't stand this dog. She's supposedly a cocker spaniel, but she doesn't look like one. She's a demon and the only dog that has ever bitten me before. On the plus side, she loves my son a whole lot...he gets to play with her in small doses...and she's cute in a 'wow, that's kind of sad' sort of way.
Tuffy is the coolest cat here. He's an outdoor cat with a cool personality. He's older too, but doesn't look it yet.
Hissy bear is my grandpa's cat. She's a minx with a snotty personality. She's queen of the house, and knows it. She's got a weird meow and isn't afraid to use it.
Furbee is a scaredy cat. He doesn't out much, but if you manage to get close enough to pet him he is loveable. He loves to have his fur shaved, he thinks he's gorgeous. "I'm to sexy for my fur...to sexy..."
___________________________________
Ok. The next series of pets are at my parents house. I don't live with them any longer but I spend half of my time over there anyway, not to mention my entire life before 18. So yes, I do say these are my pets as well.
Nanuq is a husky with a dash of border collie. She's kind of a dumb dog. She loves chasing birds. You can be in the house and point up and shout "BIRD!" and she will run after it... She's lovable, and loves to cuddle. She's as loyal as can be and wouldn't hurt a fly. Her nickname is Tookie.
Kahlua is Nanuq's sister. She's more manipulative, and tries to get her way. She's loyal, but she'll step on your toes and check boundaries. She was diagnosed with Addison's disease, and she's gotten to be expensive. She's part of the family, though, and worth every penny. Her nickname is Louie or Woo.
Starmie is an outdoor cat. She's sweet, and can be very loving. She disappeared for over a month, we thought she was dead, but she came back completely starved. We nursed her back to health, and she's always been an inspiration to us ever since. Good endings can happen.
She's a strange one. She rolls around the ground when you approach her, mewing a strange crackle-y coo. She's playful but doesn't know that claws hurt, so sometimes she catches ya. She's one of a kind, though people can rarely discern her from her sister.
The local kitty whore, this stray brought 4 litters, a total of 17 kittens, into our home before we could get her fixed. She's now my mom's cat, and has two sons still with her, listed below. She's a really quiet cat, her mew barely a whisper...but back in the day, she could kick some serious butt if someone neared one of her babies...thus the 'mama' part of her name.
Mama's son, he's probably the quirkiest cat I know. His name stems from Haku, the river spirit. Strangely, he likes water. (We didn't know this when we named him.) He's lovable, in an annoying 'claw at your face to wake you up' sort of way. He's also pretty fat, so sometimes we call him Jiggly Qui. He is my older younger brother's cat.
Wilbur Pumpernicklewickleberry the Third is mama's other son. He was originally named after Will Turner, and he's the 'last of the pirate kitties'. He's skiddish and a bit 'fancy' (stuck up...). He can only see out of one eye. If you pet him right he hops up like a bunny. He's my youngest brother's cat.
***The best for last...***
Spooky is my cat. She is the oldest out of everyone here, working on 17 years. She's been with me most of my life. She's just gorgeous, and was even more so in her prime. She's a bitch, but I love her. She's mine, and she knows it. I'm one of the few people she's nice to. She's a great hunter and used to bring me birds all the time. Her favorite poultry is chicken! Her time is nearly up and I'm dreading the day that we will have to part...I will always love her as a daughter.

Re: Show Me Your Pets!
Muse -- What cute pets! Lol that last one is adorable. Such a typical kitty! ^^
Ryona -- Aww your second oldest dog Mindy has the same name as my parent's dog who just passed away recently. (Our Mindy was a Yorkie though.) LOL I cracked up at what you said about Trixie. Haha Mama Thai sounds funny, but oh man, she should not be doing that. She's such a pretty kitty though. Wilbur looks so silly and cute in that picture of him! Aw, and Spooky is really a beautiful black cat. That's quite a lot of years she's put on.
I love how all your pets have a distinctive personality, not only that you can explain, but that come out in their photos. :]

Re: Show Me Your Pets!
Wow! 17 for an outdoor cat is amazing!! My Reilley was 24 when he passed, but he had always been a well loved indoor cat with a 'smooth operator' personality. Very calm, very suave and made it his job to greet anyone who came to my house. He also greeted any new pet with a 'wham!' "This is my house. Welcome." And that was it. Pecking order established. LOLS

Re: Show Me Your Pets!
Thanks fate. You aren't the first to notice my cat's distinct personalities. People that don't like cats will admit that some of mine are crazy cool! XD
I love the pic with you and Goliath, and Gambit looks like my cat Gracie! I'm sorry about Gizmo and Ghostie...
Digital muse, I love your tuxie...he reminds me of my cat Bob. Looked just like that but had no tail. He ran away shortly after my baby was born...but a week or so before he disappeared, our neighbors had come over complaining about him...so I always wonder if they didn't do something to him...
And 24 is a ripe old age! Reilley was beautiful! Reminds me of my cat Gabriel...he walked into my apartment and decided to live there for a while...LOL. He was my little familiar!

Re: Show Me Your Pets!
Here's one I took of Gambit a few weeks back being all cute and sleepy. :3 We've since had to throw away that 3-story thing he's sleeping in for obvious reasons.
Re: Show Me Your Pets!
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaw's! All those baby pics! You all have the cutest pets!
Fate - How did you get the rats to sit still long enough? Mine never do with out a treat! ... Mind you, mine are females and are known for not sitting still.
Would love a dog right now but cannot have 1. Probably get a Dachshund simply because they are adorable and the right size for me. I've had a family Labradoodle before. Looks a lot like you Cockapoo Lara
Any ways. My babies.

Re: Show Me Your Pets!
thats my Oscar kitty!
He lives at home with my parents since we can't have pets, but he still loves me and knows he's mine.
Every time I go home, he walks right up to me and meows at me until I pet him. If I stay the night, he sleeps in the bed with me. He likes to sleep on my head.
lol.
My father [who died of cancer almost 4 years ago] named him. <3
Yup. He's mostly Maine Coon with something else in him. We aren't too sure. He was given to us by a friend of my brothers. His tail also makes a "flag" shape, the tip points to the right because it was broken as a kitten and it didn't heal properly. He is an indoor/outdoor cat and is probably like...8 or 9...I think. He might be older for all we know.

Awww, Anaris, your kitty is absolutely beautiful! I love longhaired cats. ^_^ He has gorgeous eyes, but then again, most cats do! Oh, and wow, it's really special that your father was the one that named him. He sounds like an absolute sweetheart. <3
I took our boys out today to let them run around the bathroom and so I could pick up their "raisins" in their cage and put them where they belong (in their litter box -- as if they'll learn). While I had 'em out, I decided it'd be a good opportunity to get some pictures with them so that I'll have them to look back on. :]
Here's me with my heart rat, Gambit.
Here's Gryphon, Gambit's brother and the dominant male/bully. xD He's a biiiig baby!
This is Gecko, who's a sweetheart just like his brother.
Here's Goliath, Gecko's brother and momma's baby. They act all scared when I hold them, but then they brux (which a rat word for like a cat purring, which they do when they're very happy) when they're down and want to come back up!

07.22.09 This is my favorite picture from today. It's also the clearest.
Sorry, Kathryn. May he Rest In Peace
He was an adorable little cat.

Re: Show Me Your Pets!
I'm picking up a golden retriever in the next couple months. Not sure where or when and whatfor yet, as I may pick up a shelter dog or something, because I'm cheap, not breeding them and I have yet to see a Golden retriever gone bad.
