I assume that you will be posting next then? I have a tiny bit more written I believe, but it isn't more than a few small paragraphs. Nothing I would hate to part with.

I will, but I think I've forgotten our plan from this point onward. Did it have something to do with an encounter with evil-lord-dude?

This is what I had planned out when I decided that you were likely not coming back. I wanted to wait completely for you, but I didn't want the story to be over if you never did come back.

Part One:
- Barthon and Co. travel into the Blue Mountains in search of Zephiris. There they encounter Z'ang, and Barthon defeats him in combat.
- Barthon and Co. will encounter other Knights of Zephiris, having scaled the mountain in other areas after being turned away by the mighty dragon Z'ang. They will hear of their search, and perhaps become disheartened with their chances here.
- After a few days of searching (total of about 2 weeks in the mountains), Barthon and Co. will descend back to the city of Aram, where Barthon will report to Sir Walter Drake. Barthon will receive reinforcements and be ordered to secure the town of Caluk. I'm not sure if Sir Walter Drake will accompany them yet or not.
- Barthon and Co. will travel east to Caluk, a farming town and large supplier of food for most of Mandor. There they will prepare defenses and battle the shadow beasts to earn the town some respite. Once the King's soldiers arrive, the group will need to plan their next destination.
- Barthon and Co. agree on Sephalia, and intend to journey to Iyel'Del to sail to Telmural. They leave to sail down the River Manora to Iyel'Del.

Part Two:
- A narrative of the city of Iyel'Del starting from night of DAY 6, with the first attack of the shadow beasts. I am currently undecided about whether it will be a descriptive narrative, or a third-person narrative focusing on a particular character there.
- The narrative will end with the arrival of Barthon and Co., and the story will resume at this point from Barthon's POV, as it has since the beginning.
- Barthon and Co. will sail out from Iyel'Del to Telmural in Sephalia.

For now, Ragner's part in the story (in terms of Barthon) is over, and he is dealing with his own issues. It may or may not pick up again in the future. That depends on where Blackrock and I take our new characters (Ragner has officially become a character). If you want to change any of the above ideas, feel free. I'm not sure if I will still do the account of Iyel'Del, but it really sounded fun and if I have the time I would like to attempt it, even as just a side project.

Okay, thanks. I'll elaborate on the few more days of searching and the beginning of the descent to Aram.

Shouldn't be more than a week. If it is, poke me with a stick.

Update: I've finished the first day of several, and I'm going to post it. I'll gladly continue the rest, but I'd like you to read through it, SIlvone, and maybe offer something of Barthon's thoughts on Z'ang's note before I continue, if it isn't any trouble.

P.S. I've recently been doing a lot of play by post D&D, as well as DMing a campaign in real life. Much of what I've been writing recently has been short and sweet. It feels good to be writing in length again.

Good post Smile I really like how he descended on the group while they were already in battle. It gave a bit of an outsider perspective to them, which was rather nice, and nicely done.

I will post up a small in-character response from Barthon's perspective that you can either use a part of, or you can just use to judge what his response would be. It will only be from the moment Z'ang starts writing the note to when he passes it over, and then whatever his response is. It may not be until tonight however.

Thanks, Silvone, I can't wait to read Barthon's response, but don't let that rush you. Smile

Digi, once I've finished my bit with Brenard and Z'ang, we can hook up on the Twins again.

Post by Kalon Ordona II Mon Feb 28, 2011 6:28 pm

Great post, Stion! Very Happy Way to get back into the action! Clap

By the way, Z'ang taking first watch should probably be standard procedure. Last watch might even be better. As a rule, dragons don't do well at night.
The times ahead might require them to wake during the night and sleep during the day. It is against a dragon's physical nature to do so. A magically induced sleep would do little good; the sleeping dragon would eventually awake, his body sensing that the sun was still in the sky. Similarly, it becomes a strain for a dragon to remain awake during the night. Need and fear had kept them awake last night, but at a cost.
So, while Z'ang would probably be better at this than most dragons, staying up late into the night wouldn't be wise--and trying to wake up in the middle of the night for a turn on the watch would be difficult and taxing. First watch or last watch would be best. A dragon can get up in the lightening hours before dawn a lot easier than he can stay up past twilight. And, just as it would be difficult to get up in the middle of the night, it would be next to impossible to sleep during the daytime.

Thank you for that reminder, Kalon. It will certainly help me in future posts.

@ Blackrock: I am having trouble of thinking of stuff to do to fill in the days between DAY 12 and DAY...16 (I think)? If you don't mind me taking a while to work on this, then I will continue at my unbearably slow pace. However, if you are eager to continue, would you mind reading over what I have and perhaps offering some ideas? It isn't necessary, if you would rather wait to read the finished product, or if you are busy. I just can't make any promises as to when it will be done.

That's right, they're really close to the next chapter, aren't they?

Thank you, Kalon. It's good to be back.

Silvone, I've got the party at the gates of Aram. I'd like to go into the city a little bit before passing the reins back to you. (The interaction between Barthon and Sir Walter I'll leave to you, of course.) Would the Knights of Gedrich house the party, or would everyone except Barthon and Simion need to stay elsewhere?

EDIT: It seems the Brenard shares more than one similarity with a man by the name of Cyrano de Bergerac. O_o I'll have to watch one of the films.

I would imagine that the Order would house all of Barthon's companions, though I am not sure if Inen would be comfortable staying there. She was hardly comfortable with Barthon joining them in the first place. Perhaps she would be a little more lenient at this point, however. Not to mention, the rooms within the Order's barracks are quite small and bare. It is hard for me to say without knowing their mindset once they enter the city, but I wouldn't say it would be unlikely for the Order to give them rooms for their stay, and for them to be willing to take them. I will leave it up to you to decide either way Wink

Thank you, Silvone. The updated post is up, and I'll be working on Brenard and Z'ang's travels in the city next, but Barthon and Simion are free from my evil clutches.

EDIT: I'm thinking two or three days in the city, with a meeting in the Green Twig happening sometime tomorrow, in Mandor time.

Bleh, Silvone - totally failed to notice any new posts in the thread. Sorry for not replying sooner. If you're really stuck in a rut, I guess I can help you out with ideas, but I can't promise anything; it's your character after all, I'm not sure if I can "get into him", so to speak. Still, if you're up for it, you can shoot me a PM any time you want. I usually like doing such things over an instant-messaging program, but I don't have the time for it nowadays (especially since you're in a wholly different time-zone)....so yeah, the PM offer still stands. Or maybe I can catch you on FOG chat one of these days.

Now, I also have a request/offer/question for Kalon. The Twins and Barin are close to the ending of the chapter, aye that much is known; however, can I actually put in another post before you bring it to a close? I wanted to finish with The Mustering (they'll decide on their next course of action) first. I think it's logical and a good ending for that story arc, as they'll be able to start out fresh in the new chapter.

If the answer is yes, then my next question is targeted at Digi and Stion. I'll need to discuss some stuff with you guys, regarding the visions, plans for the future, the Baron's mission and so forth. Your characters will also feature prominently in The Mustering so, I'll need you to supply lines as well. For the same reasons I listed for Silvone, IM programs are a bit iffy for me at the moment, but if we do manage to get together, I think that it's an option more preferable than a PM storm.

And finally a note to Stion. If you want me to bring you up to speed regarding the mercenaries and the Twins, as I imagine you might not want to read through all my long-winded crap, just shout out. Again, PM's or MSN work for me, so yeah - say the word if needed.

That's fine, Blackrock. I'll just say, don't go past DAY 29, because the current plan is to start the next chapter on DAY 30.
I might amend that to 31, but we'll see. I'm waiting on Digi's post, I think. Very Happy

Also, Stion, I noticed in your recent addition that the tin plates were "not" being passed around. Did you mean "now"?

@ Kalon: You mentioned forgetting to update the map...I think I told you about these three locations a long time ago. I am reminding you now since you reminded me that you had forgotten Smile

Ostley (the town northeast of Caslemon and west of Toad Hollow): Ostley is primarily a fishing town, located on the Eret Bay. It supplies many of the inner cities and towns with marine food. A major competitor would be Caslemon, established under the duchy of Omoron, but very little supplies come out of that town. Ostley consists of mud-brick and wood houses, and has the largest fleet of fishing vessels in Mandor for a town of its size.

Eret Bay: A bay on the southwest coast of Mandor, surrounded by Caslemon, Ostley and the Snakewood Forest. Eret Bay is a prime location for fishing, and is currently dominated by the town of Ostley.

Iyel'Del (Easternmost city of Mandor at mouth of Manora River): Iyel'Del is the eastern-most city in Mandor. The city lies at the mouth of the Manora River, and it is the most prominent harbor in Mandor. Iyel'Del is built over the ruins of an ancient city of the same name. Four canals run through the city, designed and built during the original city and still in working condition. These canals each end in the center of each major district. Remants of the original architecture of Iyel'Del can be seen mixed in with the newer buildings, and the low hills behind the city are dotted with ruins as well. The harbor is built around the mouths of these canals. Iyel'Del is divided into four districts: Harbor District, Market District, Inner District, and Residential District. The city supports a population of 45,000, and is the second most populous city in Mandor, the first being Dor.

Awesome, yes, thank you! Very Happy
I'll do that after I post, which is coming!

Especially now that I've completed an update to elvish. ^_^
You can see it on the first page, but I'll paste it here, too.

Update: Elvish shall be a runic language. Each letter represents a concept. Use them as a loose guide when making up new words. You can justify a certain amount of flex room with the rationale that, for some words, the semantics these elves associate with them might be different from those understood by us Earth humans. By the same token, you can use what you know of this elven culture to further guide what semantic letters you pick for new words.

Sephiris: The Price of Peace - OOC - Page 23 Empty Re: Sephiris: The Price of Peace - OOC

Post by Guest Sun Mar 20, 2011 2:15 am

I am really sorry about how long this post is taking, Blackrock. Fortunately, I have finally overcome my block and I WILL have the post up before I go to bed tonight. It is not as grand as something I could have done, but for some reason this has been the hardest post for me to write in this role-play so far. Hopefully what I've come up with doesn't disappoint...but it is the best I seem to be able to do with this one.

Edit: Almost done. It is turning out a bit better than I expected, but it may seem rushed. I will try to go over it again to check errors and make it read better, but I'm eager to just get it posted and over with.

My turn came up in Emoria, but once that is done (and it shouldn't be too long, I intend to have it done today) I will get to work on my next post for Barthon and Simion.

Nice work, Silvone; I'm happy with the post. I like the "unknown" parts, it looks like a practice which can be used from time to time. At any rate, the post has definitely given me something to work with.

I'll shoot you a PM one of these days, clearing up some details and, naturally, supplying character lines and the like.

Awesome. I love it! The unknown date and time is cool, but it might cause problems when I try to slot it into the chronology. I guess we'll be able to figure it out as soon as Ragner learns what day it is, though. We'll keep the "unknown" in there and just slot it in wherever it would really go. ^_^

I'm still working on my post. Smile
