For me, it usually varies between the big three, "Modern", "Fantasy" and "Sci-Fi". Currently I have one RP going in each style, but I have to say currently, I'm more excited for the modern one.

I've been especially excited for 'thrillers' or action. I want to get a modern shoot 'em up RP taking place in Hong Kong going. I just watched two HK films, and damn, it kicks Hollywoods ass from here to Bangkok.

I'm all for Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Horror, and Modern rps, but it's especially fun to blend two, three, or four.

I'm similar to Diodri, I think. I like sci-fi, modern, and fantasy, sometimes all mixed into one. It just depends on my mood and what I'm into at the time.

Modern Fantasy are my favorites, though I am also a sucker for Traditional Fantasy if the story piques my interest.

I love things that involve special powers and/or mythical creatures (werewolves, vampires, zombies, etc.)

Honestly, my role play tastes vary depending on that in which I'm participating.

I will say I tend to gear more toward fantasy role plays that are based worlds like Middle Earth, and I also have a soft spot for animalistic people, but whatever role play about which I am most excited usually affects my favorite genre.

At the moment, the best role play of which I am a part and of which I am a co-moderator is the Avatar: The Last Airbender fandom Misery and I created together, making my favorite genre, at the moment, fandoms. However, when it doesn't involve Misery, I tend to avoid fandoms like a plague...

I also tend to avoid science fiction role plays, but there have been a few in the past that have grabbed my interest, but I haven't found any here that really have.

On another website, I'm involved in an apocalyptic lycan/vampire role play, but the Avatar role play here- and FoG in general- has been tearing my attention away from that one.

Fantashyyyyy.

Sci-fi is usually best when it's sort of cyberpunk-y. Spaceships'n'aliens tend to be crappy, and don't get me started on Star Wars.

Modern has amazing potential. I love it through and through.

Fantasy, however, is and always will be my god and king. Don't ask me why, it just is.

I think Science fiction and fantasy are essentially the same thing. Only science fiction is scientifically based and fantasy is religious.
I'm caught between the two. But science wins over because theorizing is so much fun. XD

My favorite is Modern Fantasy. Magic or supernatural creatures in the current or slightly futuristic world. I just love the idea that just around your own corner, something amazing or horrifying could be lurking.

But, Sci-Fi and Fantasy are close seconds too.

Modern Fantasy is my favorite. I like role-plays that mix some fantasy elements with the real world the best.

I am a big fan of Sci Fi. Most of the stuff I was really interested in while growing up fell into that category. Plus a lot of stuff dealing with powers of the super human variety are scientifically explained which (to me) means they fall into the Sci Fi category.

I pretty lay right there between Old School Fantasy and Modern Fantasy.

Magical beings vs. modern day population or simply Big Monster #1 vs. Big monster #2 has always and will always be my favorite.

Besides, who doesn't like a good fairy tale? Especially when you yourself are writing it!

While I greatly love and appreciate Sci Fi, Fantasy is easier for me to write and engage myself with. There is just too much technicalities in Sci Fi, too much stuff that just, in my opinion, gets in the way of telling a good story. Most Science Fiction authors can do it just fine, but I can't pull it off. So I stick with fantasy.

I love really technical and well-rounded fantasy words, like Kalon's Sephiris: The Price of Peace, and my own world that will be in my novels. Worlds that have had massive amounts of effort put into them, and that seem as if they could exist without their creator. Those are the best types of fantasy role-plays to write in, because you feel as if you could go anywere. You no longer think: "oh...will the RP host let me do this?" Instead you think: "Well, that fits in with the world so it should be fine."

I am fan of Vampire Rps but I can do light fantasy but when the elves and spell slingers start growing like mushrooms after a warm rain I lose interest in Fantasy. I know magic is the whole thing with fantasy but it really isn't my cup of tea.

Most of the time I prefer my RPs to be as realistic as possible. I really don't care for the time period. I can do Feudal Japan as easily as Modern day Rps.

But vampires are my one weakness to unrealistic and fantasy types. But lets get this straight only Anne Rice types not that heretical Twilight crap.
