Alice In Wonderland Movie
So, I found some new pictures from the Alice In Wonderland movie brought to us by Tim Burton.
Wow, just.....Wow. It's pretty damn awsome. Don't believe me? See for yourself.
http://www.erickwithnok.com/post/128134432/tim-burtons-alice-in-wonderland-brand-new-pictures
I'm a huge Alice In Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass freak. I grew up with the stories. Not to mention I happen to love Tim Burton. Though, I'll agree there are times where I don't appreciate him. (For example, Tim Burton should never be allowed to touch the Batman franchise again.)
So guys, discuss the the pictures and any hearsay you might have found out about the film!

Re: Alice In Wonderland Movie
What are you talking about? The Burton Batmans were the best ones of the original 4.
True, the newer ones are far more amazing than Burton's originals, but I mean, for the time, Burtons were pretty good. Remember that Burton didn't do either Batman Forever OR Batman and Robin (the awful ones).
I'm a pretty big Burton fan myself, but I'm kind of sad that he seems to feel the need to cast his wife (Helena Bonham Carter) in everything that he directs now. I mean, I can understand that she's a decent actress, but in all honesty she's really not that diverse, and the fact that he's casting her in all of his movies means that despite his ovations to the contrary it is just because she's sleeping with him.

I just didn't like Burton's take on Batman. I'm a Batman fan before a Burton fan, and I just didn't like it. I actually had problems with all the films. Maybe I'm just nit picky when it comes to comic book movies.
I agree with the Helena issue. He's beginning to do the same thing with Depp. However, Depp is certainly much more diverse than Helena is. Helena, Depp, and Burton seem to be some movie making trio. If Danny Elfman joins the movie production than it'll almost be TNBC reminiscent as far as soundtrack goes.

Although I see what you're talking about with the Helena thing, I also think she is perfect for his films. She may not have a lot of diversity, but that's why she's so perfect for his films. Burton's films all have the same, I dunno, Burton-esque feel XD, and I think Helena's look and personality are very fitting for it. Depp also has that special something that allows him to mesh well with Burton's style - probably the fact that he's off his rocker as much as Burton himself. I personallly love all three of them together, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Re: Alice In Wonderland Movie
I've been rather excited for the Alice in Wonderland film ever since I heard about it last year. My friends and I had been watching whatever awful Alice movie that's already out there (and I tell you, it really was horrible...), and upon looking up something for that we discovered Burton's.
I'm kind of happy to hear the name Anne Hathaway, truthfully. I like her as an actress.

On the plus side, it's more than likely going to be better than the Musical Alice in Wonderland Porno. (no, I'm not kidding)

...I saw a few seconds of that accidentally, once. My roommate got a kick out of the fact that it exists, but we agreed that it was just plain wrong.

Oh ho ho ho.
Musical Alice In Wonderland Porno, I'll never forget you. Rule 34 seems to be prevalent in all aspects of fandom.

I dunno, I have mixed conflictions about the idea. I didn't like Disney's take on Alice in Wonderland, after reading the books, it's like they mixed the two whenever they felt like, and added in crap that didn't need to be added.
I love the Alice game, which looks like a similar mood that Burton is going for, but I don't think it will translate on screen very well. I will be keeping a tentative eye on it though, it's up to you guys to tell me if it's good or not. :p

Re: Alice In Wonderland Movie
I have to admit I have been in love with Lewis Carroll's 'Alice in Wonderland' since I first learned how to read! Was one of the first books I ever fully read (aside from 'James and the Giant Peach' and 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory' ^_^) and is one of my favorite books of all time. I even have on my MySpace this quote below because it just explains me and how I am so well:
The Caterpillar and Alice looked at each other for some time in silence: at last the Caterpillar took the hookah out of its mouth, and addressed her in a languid, sleepy voice.
‘Who are you?’ said the Caterpillar.
This was not an encouraging opening for a conversation. Alice replied, rather shyly, ‘I—I hardly know, sir, just at present— at least I know who I was when I got up this morning, but I think I must have been changed several times since then.’
I think initially it fits all of us, we change so much through every day.
Anyway, I've been in love with Tim Burton since 'Edward Scissorhands' I love that movie! And 'TNBC'. 'James and the Giant Peach' was just epic as was 'Mars Attacks!' and 'Beetlejuice'... and 'Sleepy Hallow'. 'Corpse Bride' could have been better. I'm rather indifferent to 'Sweeney Todd'. But my anticipation of his upcoming movie '9' is just through the roof!
'Alice and Wonderland' of course...OMG. ^_^
I think 'OMG' says it all.
Anyway...big love for TB. <3
And is that really Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter? O.O
-Ish creeped out-
Seriously.

Actually, the Vorpal Blade comes later, it's a Ice wand, sorta. :/
I didn't mind the ending. It actually was like... wtf guys. And then it was hard as shit to finish. Thank God for the boom stick.
To Lara: Watch this.

Re: Alice In Wonderland Movie
First of all, tNBC only had Danny Elfman and Tim Burton. Helena Bonham Carter and Johnny Depp were not involved. Second, Elfman does the musical score for a lot more movies that Tim Burton does. Third, Burton and Carter aren't married officially, unless something has changed. They just live together, have children together, and make movies together- Oh, and they probably still do the horizontal mambo.
Anway, I'm excited for Alice in Wonderland. While Tim Burton almost always does have his unique style to movies, they're almost always interesting and good. I really like when I can watch a movie and realize Burton did it just because of the way he often molds the effects and the scenery. Not all of his movies are the same. They always have different plots in one way or another. It's just the scenery that screams his name.
Also, I will forever hold Burton's Cat Woman in my heart. She's the sexiest Cat Woman ever.

Haha. "Most unpleasant metaphor. Please avoid it in the future."
That was pretty awesome. I dunno if I'd end up playing it, since it doesn't quite seem like my type of game, but it does look epic.

Yeah, you need to be a gamer to fully enjoy it really. The game is quite hard.

Part of me wants to be slightly offended about that comment, but the rest of me won out. I am a gamer; that's just not my style game...
The only 'dark' games that I've enjoyed playing are Shadow Hearts and Shadow of Destiny. But I suppose that's for a different time, since that's going way off topic.
I liked how Alice looked, though. And the Cheshire cat.

No offense intended. I guess if it had shadow in the title you'd play it? XD
I kid, I kid.
We need a gaming thread now, so I can ask what kinda games you like.

(Gaming thread? Sounds like a plan! And haha on the Shadow part. Not my fault both 'dark' games have the same word in their title.) /totally not here because of the parenthesis!
For real, though, the Alice game looks neat, but I think the voices would start to irritate me after a while. Some of them sound pretty good. And in the comments, someone mentioned they might be remaking it? What was it for originally?

PC. It's pretty old, so most computers now adays could run it easily. The Cheshire Cats voice is well done, and well, Alice's is kinda annoying, yeah. But yopu don't hear them talk too often.

Re: Alice In Wonderland Movie
I don't mean to put a damper on things, but the setting reminds me rather heavily of The Looking Glass Wars, the author of which escapes me at the time.
Don't get me wrong, I really want to see this movie. It looks like an interesting view on the Wonderland world, and Mad Hatter (played by Johnny Depp) looks genuinely entertaining. However, and here's the drawback, I do have a certain measure of reluctance regarding alternate versions of Alice in Wonderland since attempting to tackle The Looking Glass Wars.
The author of that book somehow managed to take an interesting and outlandish concept with a TOTALLY BADASS incarnation of both the Cheshire Cat and The Mad Hatter and make it eye-gougingly boring. Seriously. For like the first hundred pages of a 250-300 page book, NOTHING FRIGGIN' HAPPENS. Even the bloody fight scene related to the usurping of the crown resulting in this world's equivalent of the evil queen claiming the throne is so numbing it made The Dark Tower I: The Gunslinger look edge-of-your-seat exciting.
(Not that it wasn't; I dearly love The Gunslinger - this is just my second try on it, the first try bored me.)
Even after the fight for the throne, things are boring, boring, boring. Mad Hatter is only seen for like, half of one chapter and then half of another, and the rest of it is just Alice being boring as all-get-out. ARRGH.
So you can see why I have my reservations. I dearly want this movie to be as awesome as the trailer makes it look, but that one little piece of compressed tree fiber is giving me second thoughts.

If you need me, I'll be retying that noose I made after dragging myself through Twilight. (Not really; I never actually made a noose.)
On a serious note, though, I really hope that movie doesn't happen. There are enough boring-book-turned-into-boring-movie movies already in existance today, I don't think Planet Earth has room for one more.
