Re: Post yo' Picture!
Oh finally! Thanks for quoting that picture, Fate- even if you can't see it... I wasn't able to look at it on the other page because it wouldn't load all the way. I sort of had the ghost of this thought with the candle image, but it wasn't clear enough to really examine it. Anyway, on to the point. I like your facial structure, Melancholy. Don't ask me why. There are occasionally things I see that just really draw my attention, and I find them really appealing whether others agree or not. I also think your eyes look kind of cat-like in that image.
Oh man... If I was there, I could totally help you achieve the look for which you were trying. I don't mean to be... well... immodest, but I have taken a lot of interesting pictures in the past that were either inspired by the smallest thing... or completely on accident. Generally what happens, is I decide on a photo shoot theme, take like... thirty pictures, and five make it to the final round, but maybe two of those five will have made the entire thing soooo worth it, if not more than worth it. If I was there, I could almost garuntee you a picture worthy of your idea. It's amazing what a good setting and a couple colour filters can do for a picture.
Anyway... it sucks that I'm not actually there to help you with that.
Oh, you know... even a plain black shirt may have been better that one like that. It wouldn't be so bad, but the candle light like... seriously illuminates the writing so it seems to pop out of the picture a bit.
Now I feel like sharing some of my quasi interesting photographs, but I have to make sure I haven't already posted them. =3
Okay... I did already post them. They are here at the bottom of that post. They're small, so if you just wait a bit, they'll load. You have to wait for the other images to load for a few minutes first.

Re: Post yo' Picture!
Yes, too bad I don’t have any plain black shirts. All of them have something from a band on them; aside from a short-sleeved button up I got to wear while looking for work. My Nightwish shirt was one of the worst to use for that picture though, I’d probably have been better off just going shirtless for the picture; wouldn’t want to make anyone go through such an endeavor as that though.
It sounds like you would be a good person for the task. I don’t really know anyone that good with photography around here, sadly. The picture used for that was just a digital camera, though a good one. My mother has an amazing old camera with a bag full of filters and such for it though. That thing can get some amazing pictures. Waiting for film sucks though.
This is the last image from. No other pictures that are worth looking at...
Yes, it is the same shirt. I happen to love that shirt. And I'm cheap and poor so I have only a couple decent shirts.

Re: Post yo' Picture!
Well, I happen to think dress shirts go quite well with candles. I don't see why your button up would not do so well. Believe me when I tell you that I understand only having a few nice shirts due to lack of funds. That was a minor part of why I gave up my darker way of dressing. Another reason is that I love peasant skirts, and a black shirt with buckles and chains doesn't really go very well with an earthy, flowy skirt. =3
Also, the only camera I have is a basic, Kodak, digital camera from Wal-Mart. It would be nice to have a great-quality camera like my boyfriend's, but I don't. I simply make due with what I have.
Okay... Just because you dress in black and enjoy the darker things in life, does not mean you have to maintain a gloom-and-doom visage. I am really interested in seeing an image of you actually smiling. Not a forced, crappy smile. A genuine "I just got caught laughing at something funny" smile. You people and your fear of happy facial expressions. hahah

Well, I might be able to get such a picture up for you after the 10th of next month. Currently, I don't have any pictures with genuine smiles from such things. Of course, I've got under ten photos of myself in general really. But, going down to San Fran the 8th for a concert the next day, so if one of my two friends decides to take a camera and documen the trip I'm sure there will be at least one picture where I'll be smiling.

He's only smiled once before in his life....And I think I awwww'd when he told me about it....Damn you, Jani, and your seemingly dark, abysmal soul when you're really just a softy deep, deep, deep, deeeeeep down.

That was the only genuine smile without finding humor in something, yes Gunneh. Also, I don't hide that fact. It just doesn't show up that often is all. You, or anyone else who talked to me even a little would probably figure that out though. And yes, I do believe you did the whole awwww thing. ~laughs~

Nice, MystiMagic! Photos are so much fun! xD The one in your avatar is still the best, though, just because of the PERFECT hand position!
@ Kathryn/Melancholy/Gunneh:
*raises hand* I can attest to the 'genuine smile' effect!
We caught this GREAT picture of one of my sisters one time. And do you know what she was thinking during the shot?
Something to the effect of "I'm gonna beat you in [Super Smash Bros.] Brawl!"
There was the perfect knowing twinkle in the eye. xD
Now I always say "Gimme the 'I'm-gonna-beat-you-in-Brawl' smile!" when I take pictures of family (who know the inside joke).
Anyway things like that make for great pictures.
If nothing else works, have somebody tickle you.

Lol oh no! I meant the image itself wasn't even displaying for me. Like, it's not showing up, so I can't see your picture at all. XD Hehe sorry that was misinterpreted. I'm guessing then it's just me your picture isn't working for?The Melancholy Spirit wrote:~chuckles~
Yes, I obviously have little skill with photography. The image wasn’t an attempt to create something clear though, in all honesty. I wanted the candles in the image to add to the entire imagery. Overall, it wasn’t an attempt for anything to be the main focus of the photo but for the entire image. The shirt, yes it does distract sadly. I would have worn just a simple black tunic (with a v-necklace) but I don’t own one, sadly.
The idea was inspired by a few pictures, as well as the overall theme of a lot of the music I listen to. For that, I figured you’d have to know the music really. It was a rather failed attempt at a poetic, artistic, dark image. Hopefully I’ll be able to get a better one sometime. Thanks for the advice though, I do appreciate it.
mysticaldragonmagic -- I love your hair! ^.^ You're adorable and so pretty.

These were taken about a week ago, I think. I just got my hair cut.

Ahh, that does work! Wow, how'd you do that, Kalon?? Lol maybe my Mac just disliked the original? XD Well, in any case, thanks!! Hehe. Aww, Melancholy, your hair is amazing, by the way!
Miss Masquerade, you are freaking adorable! ^_^ You guys look like you have lots of fun together!
Okie, here's a couple pics of me from just today. It's really humid today, so I left my hair natural (wavy/curly) rather than straightening, since I hate when the moisture in the air starts turning my straight hair, which I work so hard to keep that way, wavy.
These were taken with my webcam, which is why there's so pixely. >.<

Re: Post yo' Picture!
You might try experimenting with leave-in conditioner after straightening your hair, Fate. Can't say whether or not that will work, but it is the only way I can leave my hair down without it frizzing out horribly. Bad enough that it gets as much volume as it does even then. I think the lower sections of my hair (near the ear and neck) are to blame, since they are about half as long (or less) than the hair above. Thanks to this they dry even more curly and push the rest out. That is my theory, at least.

Re: Post yo' Picture!
Mystical, do you dye your hair or is it naturally that dark? I can't really tell in the first two pictures because of the quality. It looks pretty dark in the last two, but it looks even darker in the ones above them, so dye could have been used? In the picture of you in formal wear, what was the occasion?
Aww, Kalon. That's a funny story. I love the twinkly-eyed photos of people with smiles like that.
Fate, I think he was actually referring to my telling him that candle light is inadequate light for a clear picture. =3 Also, I really love your hair when it's curly. It's good either way, but you should let it be natural more often. =3 The second picture is my favorite of the two for sure. Your hair looks perfect in it.
Masquerade, you have gorgeous hair! ^o_o^

Re: Post yo' Picture!
I hate wearing my glasses...but girls typically look very cute in glasses.
Edit: In case anyone is curious, I’m far-sighted. My vision is 20/10, so I have to wear the glasses only while reading or doing something with a computer so it doesn’t make my near-sight get to the point I can’t see up close at all.

Melancholy, I'm not sure if you mean me or just some other gals But...thanks?
But anyway, I'm used to glasses since I wear them all the time...but I don't like wearing them for pictures because they reflect (as seen in picture 1...lol)
Thanks Danger XD he is such a ham...I go to take a pic of myself and he runs over to me with big "camera" smile on his face!

Re: Post yo' Picture!
Well, if you can't see far away, it means you're near sighted. You're gifted with the sight of nearness, but not of farness. Get it? I'm also near sighted.
Also, you just have to figure out the proper angles according to the light factor if you want to get pictures without the glare. I know it's extra effort, but I think I'm pretty good at it by now. =3
I had contacts for a while, but using the solution that cleaned and moistened them so often started irritating the skin around my eyes, and my eczema decided it would be cozy around my lids, so I ditched the contacts. I think the glasses are more "me" anyway, so I prefer to wear them in pictures. I am going to get contacts for Halloween, though, because Tolkien's elves don't wear glasses! Plus, I'm going to get a brighter blue pair of contacts to make my eyes really pop. ^^_^^ Since I'm not going to wear them without the costume, I don't have to worry about eczema-lids. ^^_^^;;
My baby sister loves the camera, too. Maybe that's what happens when you take a ton of pictures of them from a young age? My step-mom always takes a lot of pictures of the family.
Melancholy, you don't look bad with glasses. In reality, I think everyone has the potential to look good with glasses, they just need to find the right shape for their facial structure. It can be a difficult process. I generally good sort of all right with most frame shapes as long as they're not too round, but the glasses I have now are the ones that are perfect for me. Whenever I have to buy new frames, I'm always going to get these despite how effing expensive they are.

Very true. I played with a pair of glasses once. They made me look anime-intelligent. xDKathryn wrote:In reality, I think everyone has the potential to look good with glasses, they just need to find the right shape for their facial structure.
Fate, all I did was upload Melancholy's image to imageshack.us. I hypothesized that, because his picture was uploaded from an obscure location, your Mac might not have recognized it. Since I also knew that you could see all the other imageshack pictures I've uploaded, I figured you'd be able to see this one, too, and it looks like I was right.
So, I guess now you know how to fish.
I'm glad I was able to help.
Danger, your eyebrows are cool. You've got some awesome expressions goin' on there. xD
Alright, everyone, I managed to dig up a couple good pictures.
These are from earlier this year, when the Fantastic Four (that's what we four extra-close siblings call ourselves) took a trip to Seattle. These are at the observation room of the Columbia Tower.

Aww. You guys all look like each other! It's so weird! Well... I guess it's not that weird... but like... none of my siblings look anything like me... so... I've never had that issue... Except... with my baby sister... I need to resize that picture my step-mom took of us while they visited... but... that requires I redownload my photoshop... That will take time... Argh!

Well... The last two proudly show off my natural hair color. The only difference being the lighting, indoor versus outdoor. When I took a pair of shears to my lovely locks a couple months ago, I also tackled it with a box of blue/black dye. So... In the first two, my hair is colored.
The pic where I'm wearing the formal gown was my taken during my Grandmothers' wedding last summer. I was a bridesmaid... It was fantastic...

What made you cut your hair? Most girls I know who cut their hair feel bad afterward, like you seem to be feeling. It might be a lot to take care of, but I say it's totally worth it for girls!
