So, how's it hangin'? Remember me? It is Ten, from days gone past. After several years, I've decided to return. Not sure what I'll be doing here but it is sad to see the place in such disrepair, although the new posts definitely offer a glimmer of hope. So, I'll pop in from time to time. Who knows? Maybe it might pick back up again!

I do have a plan, its just been slow going for the last couple of weeks. Glad to see you back Ten! Just posting is helping at the moment. Hopefully more people will come back! I remember you were a big hockey fan and have a question: Do you have a team in the playoffs? My Red Wings were taken out pretty quickly but they deserved it since they weren't playing the best.

On another note, I did try sending out a newsletter and an email from FoG to the inactive people (aka everyone at that point in time) to try and reach out to the old members. Did you receive either? If you didn't then I need to think of a new plan to try and reach out to the old members.

I support mostly local teams now - Binghamton Senators! - although I've been slacking this year. Sorry! I have no idea who is even in the playoffs right now.

I am not sure. The email address that I have tied to this site is one I haven't opened in a while and I'd have to go digging for the password. I have it tied to my main email, so, I get alerts but not if something goes into the spam folder in my FOG email. I'm going to try to sign back in and see if that might be where it went - because I'll need to correct that anyway so that FOG alerts don't go into spam - and I'll let you know. But no, I just felt nostalgic, searched for the forum and saw that you were posting a lot - last time I checked, sometime last spring, it was dead here.

Let me know when we're set to start pushing links to this place. Like, I know you said that you were correcting code and giving this place a facelift and stuff, so, I just want to make sure when I link people here, we're giving them our best impression and not starting out with a forum look that will change or is broken.

That has been my focus during the last month and a half I've been working on it. All the links are fixed and the layout is how I wanted it, but now that you've brought up some new suggestions I think I'm going to do a rethink our current layout. If I'm going to try and bring in writers of all skill levels and really open it up to the public then I'll have to add some new parts and change a bit of the old descriptions. I feel that this might be a good new direction to go, but I'm going to think on it a little more before making a bunch of changes. I do appreciate the help in pushing links, that will be huge when we start trying to pull new members to this place. Right now, like you said, we need to focus on what the core message of FoG should be and how to best promote the site to draw new members here.

If you're looking to get members in, you'll have more luck with new roleplaying-related content (things to RP, people to RP with, the featured posts/members, 'share your favourite moments') than with more tweaking of the layout.

Maybe the focus should be on getting new RPs started, since all the old ones have been archived and left everything looking bare.

I agree! It does have this impression of nobody is here to play when there aren't any current games going on.

I've been a recruiter elsewhere and can get people to start games here. Get some new blood.

If I was a brand new person to this site, I wouldn't join, either - not because of the layout, but because everything seems cleared out. Not just 'empty and bursting with potential', but 'graveyard, here is our archive of corpses'.

So - yeah! Get recruiting if you can. But a few already open RPs might make the difference in feeling welcoming or not.
