Characters: Of Elementals and Holy Ones Empty Characters: Of Elementals and Holy Ones

Post by Ruu Fri Nov 23, 2012 3:03 am

In a world filled with wonder and beauty, two peoples were locked in an eternal struggle. The people of Vilhana, who worshiped the goddess Layru, were a people of order. They wished for peace and harmony in the world, and yet their leaders would stop at nothing to obtain this peace, even if it meant conflict. The people of the woods, the Druids, believed in the spirit of freedom, coexisting with nature and being thankful for its bounties. Of course, it was inevitable that the Druids and the people of Vilhana would go to war. It started with small excursions into the territory of the other and then turned to skirmishes and became close to being embroiled in war. The two sides fought, but it ended up being a stalemate and a truce was reached.

For years, the uneasy truce was held, but...in that time, a child was born. His name was Calum, meant to be a symbol of peace, but ironically to become the cause of war...As he grew, it became apparent that he was different from other children. He possessed a power known as the Light of Layru, a Light that had not been seen in millions of years. This Light had the power to destroy the Elemental fiends, as they were called by the people of Vilhana. And so the boy was raised in secret, honing his powers until he came of age.

Now...Calum sets out on a quest to destroy the "Elemental fiends." But there are those who would stop at nothing to hinder his quest...A keeper of the forest has set out to stop the boy on his quest no matter the cost, even as those in the Druid community propose to do nothing. Why would some of the Druids wish to allow Calum's journey to continue? And why do the priests of Layru, those who wish for peace more than anything in the world, condone such violence and destruction? All is not as it seems in this world....

My Character

Name: Calum
Age: 17, almost 18
Gender: Male
Personality: Calum is a quiet, soft-spoken individual. He is somewhat shy, and dislikes all the pomp and circumstance that has come with being the "Chosen One" of his people. He would rather spend time in quiet prayer or reading a book that going on a journey, but he would never disobey his superiors. He has a strong sense of justice and dislikes hurting others. He is even a bit leery about fighting the Elementals, but it has been pounded into his head that they are nothing but monsters that cannot feel pain. It also seems to go against his vow not to harm another living creature. But again, he is told Elementals have no feelings and cannot be actually hurt. He is a rather naive individual, never having left the shelter of his home. He knows little of the ways of the world, but the priests told him to keep his trust in Layru and that she will watch over him on his journey.
Bio: Calum appeared on the doorstep of the Great Church of Layru one night immediately after a star shower. A strange aura touched his body and immediately the priests knew that he was a special child. Rumors abounded that he was touched by the power of Layru, or even the son of Layru herself. In any rate, he grew into a sunny, cheerful child, always with a smile on his face. He was always obedient to his superiors and took to heart the teachings of the goddess Layru, even as others around him did not...From his birth, he was referred to as a Blessed Child, a Chosen One, and that he would one day save the world from the monsters plaguing the community. The constant attention caused him to revert a little more into himself, and to spend more and more days in prayer. As he grew older, he was trained in magic and in defending himself, and taught many different subjects. At last, the day arrived that he was to go on the journey. He was told that he must go alone with no others to help him, but that the Light of Layru would always be with him...
Skills and Powers: Though he looks physically weak, he was trained in a type of martial arts and his magic is quite potent, especially against Elementals. He can manipulate Light in many shapes and forms, and he knows a variety of common spells, such as binding, healing, and protection.
Appearance: Calum has blonde hair, somewhat long, almost to his shoulders. His body is slight, though not exceptionally short. His eyes are crystal blue, and his body emits a strange aura. He is usually clothed in pure and spotless white clothing, fringed with sky blue material. He also wears a cloak of silver stars with a hood, enchanted to protect him from inclement weather.

Characters: Of Elementals and Holy Ones Empty Characters: Of Elementals and Holy Ones

Name: Darae
Age: Tender 16, going on 17
Gender: Neither, being half elemental, she is either, but prefers to be a she whenever she can. Being unisex has it's perks.
Personality: Darae is a quick learner, but sometimes stubborn in her ways. She, more than her own father who is a forest ranger and the clan shaman, loves the the wilderness, scent of pine, and feel of sun. Her favorite activity is root gathering for her father and his makeshift apothecary. Although this is naturalized, she is not ignorant of how the world works, thanks to her father's teaching from his time in the cities and around civilized people. He taught her to read simply, enough to survive. Darae wants to know more about the lands of stone and the place people converge so differently, but her understanding of the power system and it's imperfections turns her off from the idea, too. She understands her lineage as half elemental, and this is a vital part of her and her clan's life.

Bio: Darae's mother, an Earth elemental, rules over the mountains and valleys. On a walk, she saved Falin, a ranger who always remembered the mountains were to be respected. Lo and behold, a child came, a very rare one. Not many elementals have half human children. Darae grew up in the shadow of a mountain and lightly amused the children with protection from rock slides, understanding when earthquakes would hit, and knowing where to dig for water or precious metals. This came in handy when rouge traders would come through and threaten them, only to be pelted by a storm of rocks and debris from a seemingly harmless mountain.

Skills: Darae can use simple weapons with efficiency, such as small daggers, bows, and slings. Rope is not out of her pack for more than a minute or so. Her magic includes the manipulation of mos earth, and that includes drying it, drawing water, and making it hotter than magma. As the daughter of an element, she can call upon elements for help in dire need.

Appearance: From so much sun, her skin is a honey color, and her hair a thick, rich brown, always kept to her jaw and out of her way. Darae is said to have the eyes of emeralds she mines with her own long hands. She may be 5'3'' but is lean from hard work and quiet from years of hunting with Falin. Her usual wear is trousers under a tunic of brown, or green, and for cold weather, moose jackets and boots. She is almost feline in her walk, and when she choses to be a man, the lion comes out in her step, and authority booms.
