Introduction

In a world of magic and monsters, there are two continents by the name of Thrisa and Zaribe. There are many gods and goddesses called upon by the various tribes that have inhabited each of the continents. For the people of Thrisa, an age old tradition was spawned by the battle said to have taken place between the god of Light, Anduril, and a nameless evil entity of great power. Their war waged for thirty long years, until at last Anduril smote the evil creature with his sword and sealed him within the bowels of the Earth. Anduril was spent, but in the end he was able to bestow his power on a young child. At the age of thirteen, the child traveled to six sites of power, known as Leylines, and then renewed the seal. Now, every one hundred years, a child is born with the rarest of magic, Light, and the child undergoes the same ritual after intense preparation. This is the tenth cycle, 1,000 years after the original battle. Normally, the chosen child must deal with dark spawn, creatures still alive born of the malevolent being's malice. But now, a new threat has arose in the form of an Empire based on the continent of Zaribe. They seek the child, not to renew the seal, but to use him to release it and to turn the malevolent being to their will...For now, they only have a foothold on the Thrisan continent, but their technological advances allow them to grow more dangerous every day...For this journey, the child will need strong guardians, stronger than ever before. But what happens when the child's protectors are killed and he must seek another?

The World

Thrisa: The continent of Thrisa is vast and sprawling, mostly untouched by the hand of man except for a few small towns and the one "city" of Windview. Forests, streams, lakes, rivers, plains, swamps, and mountains abound. Flora and fauna are bright and beautiful and Thrisans pride themselves on these things.

Windview: The capital city of Thrisa. It is here that King Allir rules, though he does little except to ensure that the balance of nature is not disrupted. He is more a figurehead than anything and is often seen walking with his people. He is very concerned about the Zaribe Empire, however. Windview has more buildings than most of the villages, but it can hardly be considered a city.
Ash Cove: A port on the western side of Thrisa, it was once a bustling town with various merchants and vendors. With the attack of the Zaribe Empire, however, it has become a militaristic place with barracks and training sites.
Anduril's Temple, the Leyline of Sanctity: One of the six leylines, Anduril's Temple is also a place of worship and attracts believers from all around the world.
Salveith Forest, the Leyline of Lifeforce: Another of the six Leylines, Salveith Forest is dark and mysterious. Elves are whispered to inhabit its innermost sanctum, but none have traveled that far. There are many ghost stories told about it.
Lake of Uslin, the Leyline of Singularity: Uslin is a pristine lake, unsullied by the touch of man. It is said that any who dare to touch its waters other than the chosen child will suffer an unspeakable death.

Zaribe: This continent was once much like Thrisa, but the Empire has burned forests and cut down trees for lumber. Bodies of water have been dammed, and animals hunted to extinction. Many sprawling cities and towns have been constructed, as well as factories and grand palaces.

Braseonia: Braseonia is the Great City of the Empire, a melding of man-made work and machinery. It boasts the most sophisticated technologies and is the seat of Emperor Norond. It is said to be an impregnable fortress.
Estorix Tower, the Leyline of Lightning: Estorix Tower, a leyline, is said to have great control over the weather. The Lightning Mage, Radwgan, makes his home here and often predicts the weather.
Grimar Cemetery, the Leyline of the Void: Grimar cemetery is filled with graves and haunted by the souls of the dead. It is the least cheerful of the Leylines, and the most feared. Monsters are often found in the vicinity.
Diort Ruins, the Leyline of Punishment:Diort was once a highly advanced city, but it fell into ruins as a punishment of the gods. It is a place of whisperings and dreams of what could have been...
