Hello, there, all-who-come-and-check-these-intro-threads! The name's Jakob Grimm, Grimm or Jakob or corn-on-the-Kob or Jake or whatever-portmonteau-of-Jakob-and-Grimm-you-might-have-come-up-with suffices. I ventured upon this forum thanks to the suggestion of a couple writers from another forum, and ended up lurking and familiarizing myself with the rules and seeing how the general population of this forum acts. I found myself enthused by the skilled writing and well-designed forum layout, and decided that I'd like a slice of the fun. If you all would have me, I would be glad to prove my worth.


Edit for the sake of postscript: Yes, I'm distinctly aware of the fact that I am fifteen. Please don't notify me of it; being a stereotypical teenager, I would like to prove the fact that I have some modicum of maturity, as opposed to being discriminated due to the amount of years I have walked this Earth.

Hello and welcome to FoG! We usually don't rag on people because of their age here. In fact for the most part we are pretty friendly. I have seen a few good younger writers around here and I think its awesome that someone so young has such command of writing. Thanks for the welcome! Sorry if I came off as a bit pretentious and haughty; I've had a couple bad experiences with writing forums-- especially with my age-- and I tend to try to cover all the bases at the expense of general etiquette.

I do have a question, though; generally, should I try a couple roleplays first before trying my hand at creating one, or should I make one as soon as possible to notify people of any lorebuilding ability or deficiency from the very start? It's more of your/anyone's opinion, really.

To answer your question, one good approach might be to browse the interest check threads and see if any grab your attention. If one does, super! You're in right off the bat, with plenty of lorebuilding opportunity through character creation. Or, if none interest you, do feel free to create your own, and hopefully you'll pique a few people's fancy and reel them in.

Welcome to FoG, Jakob! Sorry that I'm so late to the welcome wagon. As Kalon and Sunwolf said, we absolutely don't discriminate based on age. I actually had no idea you were a teenager until you actually said so in your intro thread because you wrote so eloquently! So...I think you'll get along great here!

I'll just reiterate Kalon's advice about jumping into role-plays. If you find something in the interest threads that strikes your fancy, go for it! If not, then feel free to create your own.
