`You don't know much,' said the Duchess; `and that's a fact.'
Hello FOG.
I've basically made my way here after a round-about trip along the internet, as you do, looking for somewhere/someone to write with. I did potter around on tumblr for a bit, but since I've only ever forum RPed you can imagine how confusing that short little escapade was.
I like to write. I like to think I write well with others but lately I'm not so sure - I can be very contained in my posts, and I'm beginning to wonder if this means I scare people away or just lose them? My writing generally serves as gratuitous self-pleasing adjectives and dress porn (I love dress porn), and my characters are nearly always girls (I tend to lose interest when writing boys).
I suppose I'll admit it here and now and get it out of the way: I like romances. I like slow romances that take time to build up (with lots of OOC plotting thrown in to keep me going) but the matter of the fact is, if there isn't a hint of a promise that it will happen, my excitement for the thread will deflate. It's bad of me, I know.
Action, sci-fi(ish), period-era (Victorian, mainly, nearly always with a touch of steampunk), fantasy (urban, high-fantasy, anything) and school based dramas are favourites. I like to mash my genres together, and pepper my characters and their stories with real life interests (the Occult, Catholicism - especially those two together -, Lolita fashion - not the book -, dolls and V.C. Andrews/Southern Gothic fiction to name a few).
Anime/manga tends to be a big influence too on storylines/settings. My current favourites are Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, Vampire Knight and Gunslinger Girl: from them I like varying themes and character relationships, like the military driven/bodyguard ones in FMA, the love/hate frustration of VK and the morally questionable and blindly followed ones in GG.
I hope that isn't a turn off just as we're meeting, hahaha. I hope to write with you guys soon.

Welcome to FoG! I understand about being interested only in one type of RP. Personally if there isn't any type of sci fi or fantasy element I am not interested. Almost all of the RPs I am involved with/created have some kind of ability granted to characters. So yeah limiting yourself to the RPs you like is a good idea if you are into a certain type. Shouldn't be too hard finding an RP you like here though.
I hear you on anime influencing my stories. I have watched many shows including Fullmetal Alchemist Brootherhood and Fullmetal Alchemist, both Gunslinger Girl series, Vampire Knight (not my favorite but it was good) and many more that I could go on to list. Sometimes I really love the odd characters anime throws at us. Like Sousuke Sagara from Fullmetal Panic series, Light Yagami from Deathnote and Lelouch Lamperouge from Code Geass. To me unique characters make a series much more enjoyable.
Anyway, if you have any questions don't be afraid to ask and enjoy your stay.

Thank-you. Yeah, while I tend not to think of the romance being a type of RP all on it's own (I need something to explode, at least), it is a very important element for me because frankly I just like the character interaction, hahaha.
And I've never really watched/read Deathnote or Code Geass. O: I'm kind of limited in what I watch, and tend to come about my favourites only because of recommendations by close friends or my boyfriend.

Both Series are very good and I would recommend them if you like anime.

Hey there! Welcome to FoG.
I tried tumblr for a little while, but didn't get into it. I've been meaning to check it out again though, but I can imagine it being strange to role-play on a site like that. I've only ever RPed on forums as well.
There's no harm in having a love for romances. I think quite a few people can get into those, and they do tend to be quite interesting to write with someone else.
I hope that you enjoy role-playing with others here and find some good RP partners! Have fun!

Welcome to FoG! You're definitely in the right place for excellent role-playing and plenty of great people with which to write. Don't worry about feeling like you're limiting yourself to certain RPs. I think it's best to go after the RPs you really enjoy; otherwise you won't be committed to them and won't enjoy the experience as much. I'm also a sucker for romance, and I pretty much stick with some brand of fantasy in whatever RP I join.
I actually loved watching Vampire Knight. I've seen the whole series twice!
Hope you enjoy your stay! Please ask if you have any questions!

Welcome to the FOG, fellow Dragon Scorpio!
I see you're an Alice fan. I mainly like Lewis Carroll for the word 'brilig.' xD
Yay for slow romances! I too like it when it takes a loooong time to tease out the love. When characters are all falling over each other almost on sight, I can't get into it. It just screams fan-fiction and wish-fulfillment, as opposed to quality literature. You gotta earn a good relationship in good literature.
I'm afraid to google "dress porn" for a definition, though. xD Does that just mean you focus a lot on what they're wearing?
Anyway, welcome again!
Looking forward to seeing some of your writing!
