Born from Extinction (Fadded and Sunwolf007)
Basic Information:
Two years after the International Genetics Technologies Inc. (InGen) Incident the company faced financial difficulty due to the death of CEO Sir Franklin Clifton. The Incident cost the company billions once the final bill came and InGen was facing bankruptcy. That was when Biological Synthetics Inc. (Biosyn) purchased InGen. Once that Bisosyn had access to InGen’s files they researched the InGen Incident. Realizing that now the Dinos would be qualified as wildlife, and therefor a resource, they looked to exploit the island wildlife. Biosyn created a team of the best scientist to inspect the island and lay claim to it for Biosyn. The team’s responsibilities are to view the ‘wildlife’ in its natural habitat and record these findings to claim the island for Biosyn. Once this is accomplished the plan is for the scientists on the team to have exclusive publishing rights to anything they find. Biosyn plans on eventually taking the ‘wildlife’ off the island for its own protection and creating a biological zoo like the world has never seen.
Our characters will be the ones pulled together to form the team sent to the island by Biosyn. This is going to be loosely based on the movie and novel The Lost World as well as ideas in my RP Jurassic Park.

- Spoiler:
- Unknown if we will have a map at this time. If someone is good at Photoshop and wants to help me out that would be awesome. Anyway here is a written description of the island. Keep in mind that it has been two years and most things are in ill repair and the dinosaurs have free reign of the island:
The area most north on the island was separated from the dinosaurs due to the landing pad for the helicopters being there as well as the power generating buildings. The Visitor’s Center and Hotel were placed in the south part of this section. The next area to the south was for the Triceratops and Stegosaurus. They were going to be first on the tour. The next area to the south was for the Dilophosaurus. The area next was for the Tyrannosaurus Rex. After that came the Utahraptor section which was split down the middle to separate the two raptor groups. Off on the east part of the island a large dome section was indicated as Aviary which housed the Pteranodons and the Baryonyx. Finally the furthest south part of the island and by far the largest section was for the Brachiosaurs and the Pachycephalosaurus. There was a tour car road that ran along the fences that separated each area. There were other maintenance roads that crisscrossed the island and some of those were underground. These roads led to bunkers in each fenced in section that housed automatic feeders for the animals inside. They were also used for storage.

Dr. James Malone [Sunwolf007]
- Spoiler:
- Name: Dr. James Malone
Job / Profession: Paleontologist
Age: 33
Description:
Bio:
James had no idea what he wanted to do with his life. He always wanted to do something with Dinosaurs because he was absolutely fascinated by them. Through the years he read everything he could and his fascination continued through high school. He always wanted to know what made them think the way they did, how their brain was structured, and how it worked. Then in college he took one class that changed his life. Psychology. It combined all the elements he loved. The science of how a brain is structured and how it works with the behavior and mental processes of that brain’s structure. He always dreamed of applying this to dinosaurs but settled on animal behavior. He would never work on humans because he considered them used to often in psychology. He finished his Masters and started working as a professor while still trying to attain his degree in Paleontology. He traveled around the country during his summers meeting with Paleontologists and researching but he was met with a lot of resistance in the scientific field. It was hard to guess where every portion of the brain was located when all you had was a skull. His research was published recently and he has gained some notable criticism as well as respect. Soon he got an email from an anonymous sender talking about an island full of dinosaurs. After doing research about the mysterious InGen Incident he decided to make a deal with the sender of the email. He would be paid quite well and have exclusive publishing rights to anything worthy of scientific inquiry. Not knowing what to expect he packed up and left for the meeting point of the team.
Dinosaurs
Note that all the statistics are for fully gown dinosaurs
Name: Tyrannosaurus Rex
- Spoiler:
Name: Tyrannosaurus Rex
Population: 3 (2 fully grown and 1 juvenile)
Diet: Carnivore
Height at the hips: 17 feet
Length: 40 feet
Weight: 6 to 8 tons
Top Speed: 20 – 25 MPH
Exert from mission briefing info packet:
Tyrannosaurs were depicted as apex predators and as such spent a lot of time following game trails. They seemed to prefer to ambush prey animals with their excellent senses especially their superior night vision. Their senses also allow them to scavenge dead animals which are much easier than hunting. They have the best sense of smell of any animal in the fossil record. The Tyrannosaurs are not random killers, however, and are less likely to attack when full.
Tyrannosaurs were known to pair off during mating, and both parents will remain with their offspring during its growth, exhibiting very powerful parenting and protective instincts, going to great lengths to ensure an infant's safety. However, when they are fully grown and independent they are more solitary, and only interact when mating or rearing young. They also bring small live prey to their young, teaching them how to kill live prey for themselves. Tyrannosaurs are territorial by nature, and will attempt to drive away or kill anything that might be deemed dangerous, whether animate or not. T-rexes are portrayed as solitary predators which only join another one of their kind in mating season. From Skelton remains it is known that the male is a full third smaller than the female when fully grown.
Name: Dilophosaurus
- Spoiler:
Name: Dilophosaurus
Population: 4
Diet: Carnivore
Height: 6 feet
Length: 20 feet
Weight: .5 ton
Top Speed: 20 – 25 MPH
Exert from mission briefing info packet:
Not much is known about this creature. It is known to be anti-social and a hunter/scavenger. It’s senses are nothing like an apex predator but it does have a good set of eyes and a decent nose. Each one has that distinctive crest on its head and has different colors but it is unknown as to the purpose of it. It’s teeth and claws indicate that it does not hunt things that are larger than it.
Name: Utahraptor
- Spoiler:
Name: Utahraptor
Population: 8
Diet: Carnivore
Height: 6.6 feet
Length: 21 feet
Weight: 1,500 lbs
Top Speed: 40 – 45 MPH
Exert from mission briefing info packet:
Its most amazing feature is the sickle-shaped claw on the inner toe. It could go a full 180 degrees rotation extremely quick. It is said to be really quick, able to reach and very agile, turning 90 degrees in less than 1 second. It hunted in packs, co-operating to take down its prey. It used its huge inner toe claw to suffocate or eviscerate the victim. The forearms were used to grab on to prey while they were trying to make the kill. The head was used as another 'suffocating weapon', disabling the animal from breathing and letting it die off as a result. Like theorized these raptors are incredibly intelligent. They have problem solving capabilities much like the modern day Chimpanzee. They have sophisticated pack hunting behavior as well as a complex social order.
Name: Baryonyx
- Spoiler:
Name: Baryonyx
Population: 3
Diet: Carnivore
Height at the hips: 10 feet
Length: 28 feet
Weight: 1.7 tons
Top Speed: 15 – 20 MPH
Exert from mission briefing info packet:
Like theory suggested Baryonyx eats mostly fish and fishes like the modern Grizzly Bear. With it’s long neck and powerful arms it spends most of its time at the lakeshore or riverbank. Eats mostly fish but will also scavenge anything that it can find. Also like the modern Grizzly, Baryonyx will eat things smaller than itself. They are mostly solitary hunters and are territorial.
Name: Pteranodon
- Spoiler:
Name: Pteranodon
Population: 13
Diet: Fish eater
Height (head to foot): 10 feet 2 inch
Length (wingspan): 32 feet
Weight: 154
Top Speed: 25 MPH (flying) 1MPH (walking)
Exert from mission briefing info packet:
First thing, Pteranodon is not a dinosaur, it is a flying reptile. Its main diet is fish and small reptiles or baby dinosaurs. While on the ground it walks around on its hind legs and uses its wings as a set of legs. When it takes off from the ground it launches itself into the air in a single leap with its legs and wings. Pteranodon males would have large crests, and females had smaller ones. Like modern day birds they have the same social order. They hunt alone but yet group together at night like modern bats.
Name: Brachiosaurs
- Spoiler:
Name: Brachiosaurs
Population: 6 (2 adult and 4 juvenile)
Diet: Herbivore
Height to the top of the head: 50 feet
Length: 82 feet
Weight: 70 tons
Top Speed: 5 MPH
Exert from mission briefing info packet:
It is an animal that works completely on instinct. Its brain in proportion to its body is comparable to a human having a pea sized brain. It constantly eats and is always on the move to find more suitable feeding grounds. Instead of chewing it swallows everything whole and uses gizzard stones to assist in digestion. Once a Brachiosaurs reaches about a third of its fully grown size it joins up with a herd. From birth until reaching a third of their full grown size they are solitary creatures.
Name: Triceratops
- Spoiler:
Name: Triceratops
Population: 9
Diet: Herbivore
Height to the top of the crest: 15 feet
Length: 35 feet
Weight: 6 to 8 tons
Top Speed: 10 – 15 MPH
Exert from mission briefing info packet:
Nature hasn’t produced a better defended herbivore than the Triceratops. Its horns are able to pierce the chest cavity of a Tyrannosaurus Rex. Its head has the rotation ability to ensure its horns are always between it and a solitary predator. Its protective bone frill is practically unbreakable. Although the T. Rex was its main concern it had the ability in a one on one fight to win. One of the defects to this animal is its poor eyesight. They were nearsighted, much like the rhinos of today, and tended to be surprised by sudden movements. Like most herbivores they have herding instincts and look after their young. It seems that average herd size is about 6 fully grown led by a single male.
Name: Stegosaurus
- Spoiler:
Name: Stegosaurus
Population: 7
Diet: Herbivore
Height to the top of the plates: 15 feet
Length: 40 feet
Weight: 7 tons
Top Speed: 5 – 10 MPH
Exert from mission briefing info packet:
Stegosaurus was a peaceful herbivore, and probably roamed the prehistoric highlands in small herds, grazing on low ground plants. An average Stegosaurus was about the size of an elephant, standing about 11 feet tall. It had a very low intelligence (its brain was the size of a walnut). The bony plates on its back may have served a dual purpose of a body temperature regulation, and protection from large flesh-eating predators. Stegosaurus is often called the dumbest dinosaur because of its incredibly small brain. In fact, most scientists believe that its brain was too small to control such a large creature and that it used an auxiliary "brain" located above its rear legs to help control its movements. This was not actually a brain, but a bundle of nerves that helped relay information from its real brain. Stegosaurus would have lived in family groups and possibly herds, moving slowly through forests while eating the low-growing plants. Its front legs were considerably shorter than its hind legs, making it adapted to nibbling the plants closest to the ground.
Name: Pachycephalosaurus
- Spoiler:
Name: Pachycephalosaurus
Population: 13
Diet: Herbivore
Height: 5 feet
Length: 13 feet
Weight: 800 pounds
Top Speed: 10 – 15 MPH
Exert from mission briefing info packet:
They are famous as "bone-head" dinosaurs, due to the 10-inch thick rounded plate of bone in their foreheads. Contrary to popular belief, Pachycephalosaurus probably did not butt heads with each other. Instead they rammed each others broadside to prevent brain damage which may have been the result of head-butting. Scientists do not yet know what these dinosaurs ate. Having very small, ridged teeth they could not have chewed tough, fibrous plants as effectively as other dinosaurs of the same period. It is assumed that pachycephalosaurs lived on a mixed diet of leaves, seeds and fruits. The sharp, serrated teeth would have been very effective for shredding plants. Like all herbivores they have herding behavior. Packs are run by the dominant male.

Re: Born from Extinction (Fadded and Sunwolf007)
Looked over your last PM and it seems we have our outlines for our character profiles done. I think, unless I am missing something important, Plot should be worked on next. One thing we need to figure out is how they heard of the island, how they got there and who they brought with them. I am not opposed to some expendable NPCs. (How else are we going to make the dinos deadly ) Your thoughts?
Edit: We also need to agree on a name for this RP.

Lol I don't mind what we name the rp. Whatever you want. ^^
Let's see... Maybe the read an article in the scientific journals about this experiment and they decide to go? Probably got there by helicopter and maybe a team of two or three other people?

Basically I was thinking that could be the back story. Our characters would be approached by Biosyn to be on the investigation team. Of course they would sign on and I think that could cover the scientists of the group. I was thinking for the other people on the investigation team would comprise of one survivor of the InGen Incident and two hired guns for safety. What do you think of this idea?
Name wise I am pretty terrible at naming things. All I can think of is calling it The Lost World since I am ripping off of the ideas from the two novels and the second movie. Do you have any suggestions?

Re: Born from Extinction (Fadded and Sunwolf007)
That sounds good for the back story. As for names... let's see... I suck at names to:
-Dragons of the past
-Behind the Fossil (lol yes some of these are weird XP)
- Born from Extinction
- Path of Enlightened Danger

Re: Born from Extinction (Fadded and Sunwolf007)
My favorite is 'Born from Extinction'. Way better than anything I could have came up with. I am going to say that we should use that one. So we need 3 more characters to be created and modify the first post of my JP RP to reflect the changes for this one. How about you take the character creation while I modify the old JP RP (I just found a very useful sight and am looking forward to modifying it)? Would that work for you?
Edit: 1,800th post. At least this one was useful for something unlike some of the other milestone posts I have made.

Re: Born from Extinction (Fadded and Sunwolf007)
Lol on the post part. Sorry I've been gone. I've been busy. Just so you know, I'll do my best to at least post here once a week on busy weeks. And for the character creation, did you want something in depth? Honestly, I just thought of them as NPCs lol. I don't usually do profiles for rps. If you want the profiles, I don't mind doing them.

Re: Born from Extinction (Fadded and Sunwolf007)
I've been busy as well. I understand only being able to post once or twice a week since I am in college and sometimes other things come up. Real life happens so don't worry about making a post limit or something like that. I don't mind the NPC approach but we still need something to generally outline who the character is. Nothing too in depth but something that at least is an outline for whoever needs to write for the NPC. When I get time I will finish my revamp of the info for the first post. Like I said sometimes college/real life gets in the way of doing things.
