Re: Hockey thread
Yeah once the season got going they picked up more wins. I have been busy with college recently so now that I am on break I am going to watch a few games as long as work doesn't get in the way. Hopefully the Wings come up with a win tonight!

Re: Hockey thread
So, I am no longer rooting for the Winnipeg Jets. Although it was nice and exciting watching a team get bought and settled in, I do not really feel a connection with them. The connection I've had has always been with the Bruins since I watched them win the Cup last season when I first started getting into hockey. And they're doing great again this season! 35 wins out of 55 games!
Sadly, Tartra, Toronto's Leafs have won 29 games out of 58. However, they've won more than they've lost, so that's still better than the Jets who've won just as many games as they've lost and the Canadiens who've lost more games than they've won.
EDIT: Although, I would like to ask a question about people's opinions. I read this article this morning about the Bruins v. Canadiens game on Wednesday night where Zdeno Chara got hit in the chin with a puck and the crowd cheered.
Faceoff.com: Boston Bruins' Zdeno Chara 'disappointed' by cheers after injury
I'm not saying it's right to cheer for that sort of thing, but is there ever a scenario where it would be? I love Chara and I'm sad he was hurt, but he got up and skated away and even came back to play during the third period. They could have easily been cheering about the fact he was okay(unlikely) or cheering about the good sportsmanship of Plekanec. Or they were just being dicks about him accidentally roughing up Pacioretty last season. The latter, I can understand the sentiment. If one of the Boston Bruins players had been badly injured by(just as an example) Byfuglien, and then in another game Jets v. Bruins and he himself got, like a twisted ankle or something, I'd be a little like, "Yeah, that's karma, b****."(question: is that the correct use of "karma"?)

The blood was pouring from Zdeno Chara’s face even before he hit the ice in the final ticks of the first period.
The Boston Bruins captain had been struck in the chin by a neutral-zone puck off the stick of Canadiens centre Tomas Plekanec, and before Chara had picked himself up and skated toward his dressing room, Plekanec having offered a kind word and a stick-tap on the butt, the Bell Centre was awash with cheers.
Canadiens forward Max Pacioretty might have moved on from the terrible drama in this building last March, but obviously many fans who weren’t injured that night have not.

He got up and skated away, and while I didn't see it, it pretty much just sounds like a good shot. I'd cheer too.
Then again, they're Habs fans. I think having it be Chara was a special present on the side.
And the Leafs can still do this. GO LEAFS GO!!! FOR FUCK'S SAKE, YOU HAVE A CHANCE THIS YEAR!!

Re: Hockey thread
Yeah, I watched the video and it was a simple *clunk!* *plopped down* *crowd cheering* then a couple seconds later he picked himself up and skated away. I think he was just being sensitive about it because he got hurt and well, it's no fun hearing people cheering when you bust your face open, lol.
I find the funniest thing about that article is the quotes from Thomas at the end where they asked him what he thought about the crowd cheering when Chara got pucked. He was all like "They were?" XD He's such a cool dude.

Tiiiiiiim!! Favourite player on the Bruins! IF FOR WHATEVER CRAZY REASON the Leafs don't make the playoffs this year, I may make him my official player. Until then, it's Kessel and Lupul. Haven't picked between those two yet.
Re: Hockey thread
All about the Penguins or Avalanches for me, ha ha.
Pens, because I am a Pittsburgh chick and I grew up on that team and not on the Steelers. (personally, I can't stand, nor UNDERstand football. xD)
And Avalanches because I moved up to Colorado a while back and now I adore their Hockey teams, ha ha. Both for NHL and ECHL.

Re: Hockey thread
Then you and I are natural enemies as I am a Red Wings fan. You just had to pick the two teams that have a rivalry with the Wings. Then again a better question is who doesn't have a rivalry with the Wings . I can't believe that no one has mentioned that the Wings made NHL history by creating the longest winning streak on home ice in NHL history! We're at 23 straight wins at home which is crazy impressive by anyone's tally.

Re: Hockey thread
Well, you can watch the Wings the next time they play the Avs. That's the 25th of this month so you don't have to wait too long. You going to be watching that game? Also who here has their team's web page as your home page? I do!

Ha ha, fo sho. xD
I tend to record the games and watch them when I get the chance - normally the weekends.
I have the Colorado ECHL team page as my home page, aha. xD

Re: Hockey thread
The Bruins keep doing poorly. It's very upsetting but Chara shoved a guy into the plexiglass guard and shattered it during the Capitals game yesterday.

Re: Hockey thread
Well, the Wings have been doing ok. Not like before but we have a few injuries and a lot of players were pulled up from Grand Rapids to play. Still contending for a playoff spot so I'm happy. Wings might get the President's trophy yet!

Re: Hockey thread
So, the Bruins are out.
Any predictions for the playoffs? I'm leaning towards the Rangers making it, since they did so well this season.

Re: Hockey thread
So anyone else glad that they got a new CBA and are playing a shortened season this year?

Re: Hockey thread
No, I don't like that it's shortened. I don't even feel like it's gonna be official, whoever wins. I feel totally jipped on how much hockey I normally deserve. And CBA is like, "whatever". A bunch of millionaires whining at the billionaires to share their money; I'd feel better if they had a legit reason for making the season so short.
That being said, I am grateful we even have a season this year. The Bruins are on a 6 game straight winning streak and I couldn't be more pleased with those boys!

Watched the Kings suck against the Canucks last night...
Haven't seen a ducks game but they don't seem to be doing well.
Looking forward to the playoffs regardless.

Re: Hockey thread
Aw, sorry to hear that, Gabrielle. If there was a longer season, they might have time to recover from doing poorly, yeah? But now with the shortened season, it feels like just a few stumbles here and there will cost a team a big chunk.

Yeah, it does feel that way, Ten!
Ill enjoy the playoffs no matter who is playing.

Re: Hockey thread
My Redwings are battling it out but Chicago has got a lock on the first slot for playoffs. Its ridiculous how good they are doing. Wings are hanging out in the middle of the pack right now but they have to pick up more wins because they have played more games than the rest. I feel this shortened season is going to have a huge effect on who wins the cup. If you mess up during a regular season you have a chance to come back. Here where there are less points available its a lot harder to do.

So yea, the Ducks are doing way better than I originally thought. I missed the end of the game, but they beat the Blackhawks 4-2 last night!

The Blackhawks and the Penguins have been having one hell of a season. They have way to many points. My Wings are barley holding on to a playoff spot. How is everyone's teams doing?
