Nihil's Destruction: Acoustic-Moth/Ruu Empty Nihil's Destruction: Acoustic-Moth/Ruu

A young boy, slight and frail, waited quietly at the gates of Cryzzyx, the fabled palace and dungeon of the great and mighty Astaroth. Astaroth was the nominal ruler of this world, and only small pockets of resistance had ever formed against his might. They had always been doomed to failure. Illyriel didn't understand why any believed that he would be the one to defeat the demon. He was weak...Astaroth's slave...he had no great powers of his own. He had heard the prophecies, of course, because Astaroth had told the boy of them just to instill even more of a sense of helplessness in the child's soul. But now...that had all changed with the appearance of Nihil. Nihil...Illyriel shivered at the thought. Nihil was more terrible than any of the demons, for it swallowed everything without remorse. It was like a cancer, first spreading through the trees and wild creatures, until they were dead and black without any spark of life. Then it would infect humans, spreading pains and maladies until they died a horrible death. And now...it was even reaching its long arm towards Cryzzyx and Illyriel knew that Astaroth was enraged at the prospect. Astaroth may have detested light and anything to do with it, but his anger at this Nihil was even greater. Now, Astaroth's seers and prophets foretold that only by working together would Illyriel and Astaroth ever hope to defeat the destructive power of Nihil. The idea had sickened both Illyriel and Astaroth. Why would Astaroth want to work with his slave? Why would Illyriel wish to work as a partner with the one who had enslaved him? Illyriel still felt they were unequal and Astaroth was far above him, no matter what anyone else said. He couldn't shake that mentality even if he tried. But when Nihil destroyed Astaroth's second most powerful stronghold, even the great demon would not ignore it. And so now they were to set out on a journey to light the seven beacons of Hope...to restore what had been lost to the world...

Illyriel shifted his heavy pack slightly on his back. He had taken the heavier load because he knew that's what his Master would have wanted. His wings were still tightly bound with irons as they had been ever since he could remember. Very rarely had he been given opportunities for flight. He secretly wished Astaroth might break those bonds on this journey. Wouldn't Illyriel need his wings if they had to fight any of the fearsome beasts that now roamed the countryside? The boy looked up as he noticed the sun begin to sink below the horizon. He knew Astaroth would be here soon. The demon wanted to at least begin their travels at night, as he disliked the rays of the sun. Illyriel loved the sun but was rarely able to see it. He could comfort himself with the light of the moon and the stars, though they only reflected the sun in pale beauty. Soon...very soon this strange journey would begin...
