Planes of Destruction? Empty Planes of Destruction?

I would like to start off with saying that this is my very first attempt to create a roleplay, or generate interest in one. So, chances are I'm probably missing something that I'll realize later on, but don't worry, I learn quickly. I've had this idea in my mind for the longest time, so I'm going to throw it out there to see just how much interest it gets. If not, oh well, I go back to throwing ideas around in the back of my head. I'll need at least four people for this to work, so we'll have to see what happens. It's a pretty long intro to the background of the story, so I would get a glass of water or something.

The year is 2124; the world has just finished a war that has taken its toll on the entire planet. Governments of all sides of the globes have collapsed, allowing private firms to step up and form their own controlling power. They have no rules other than the ones they set for themselves. Democracy is extinct along with any hope freedom. Anything that the companies want, they get. Anyone that gets in their way is a body bag waiting to be filled. The story as to how the world got to this very sad and sorry state of affairs is a long and bloody one. One that, had the situation been different, could have ended with world peace instead of apocalypse. We will follow the world through the 21st century. Everyone says ‘There’s nothing like war to make a country improve itself!” Well, in this case, that is exactly the fact.

You could say that this entire thing started with a want for world peace. Ironic, I know, but that’s exactly how it was. During the year of 2031, the United Nations came together to discuss the building threat of nuclear warfare. Many countries, a lot of them very unstable, now had access to surplus nuclear weaponry. The suggestion to fix the problem was to get rid of nuclear weapons all together. This sparked a wild and sometimes violent debate among the nations. By the end, however, The Edison act was passed. This act made the owning and creating of nuclear weapons illegal by all nations. This sparked minor wars all over the globe, but the combined powers of the UN forced everyone else into compliancy. By the year of 2039, the world was free of all nuclear weapons. Within eight years, the UN had done what everyone else thought was impossible. They had ended the threat of nuclear warfare.

By the year of 2045 though, they were back at it. The President of Russia, A man by the name of Nikon Dmitriy, persuaded the UN back into weapons research. There was a strict ban on nuclear weaponry, so they focused on hand held weapons; from pistols to portable rocket launchers. Nikon used one of his more famous quotes during the arguments, one that in the end persuaded the Nations to agree with him. “The difference between war and peace is that one forces us to better ourselves while the other lets us be content.” Needless to say, scientists from all over the globe went to work as a project between all the nations of the world. With the advancement of weaponry they were hoping to find ways to better their way of life.

Well, they did and didn’t.

A woman by the name of Ilya Chase created what would soon be called ‘God’s gift to his children.’ By mixing certain chemical reactions with that of powerful radiation, she had created what was called Trinium. It was a renewable resource that could be used for anything. It could be gas for a car, electricity for the T.V. or it could send rockets into space. It was the miracle energy, something that solved the ever so present oil crisis in the world. The UN was ecstatic at the news, and after several tests to deem its safety, immediately went into production of the resource.

Unfortunately, the cost of building a Trinium plant was so high, that the UN had to pool all of its resources, right down to the last penny, to afford four plants for all of them. Due to the amount of radiation needed to create the resource, enormous safety procedures were put into place, and the plants were built far from any populated settlement. All the other countries were simply too poor to afford the plants, and were angry with the UN for not worrying about their welfare as well. As a result, the last of the oil reserves were handed over to the underprivileged nations with the passing of the New Age act. The UN was betting everything on Trinium. Giving over the last of the oil reserves was a risky business, but the UN had complete faith that Trinium would solve all their problems.

By the year of 2059 the plants had all been built, one in Russia, one in North America, one in Europe, and one in central Asia. There were some murmurs of selfishness on the Russian’s behalf for getting a whole plant to themselves, but Nikon simply brushed this off. “We are the biggest country in the world; we need the plant in the homeland simply to spread power to my beloved country.” This was not enough for some people, and Nikon finally consented to giving a speech about Trinium, and the need for everyone to gather together in order to make sure this resource was used by all.

Nikon flew all the way to the U.S. to make his speech. He had heard reports that the main voices of concern were coming from the Americans, and so had his speech planned to address them. President of the United States Frederick Horrent met him to make the speech directly from the Whitehouse to every news reporter in America. As Nikon walked up to the roof of the prestigious building, he was warned about possible rebellions against his person due to the nature of this speech. Nikon did not take the threats seriously, deeming it beneath his notice as an ‘American concern’.

Security had the placed locked down for a good mile in all directions around the Whitehouse. Snipers were on the Whitehouse roof, along with attack helicopters and dogs. The military had even been called in to make sure nothing would happen, and their presence was being known with the addition of an armored car among the population. President Nikon began his speech, and managed to get in three words. “My American brothers…”

President Nikon was assassinated at exactly 1:33 pm, February 12th, 2059.

A gunshot rang out all over the Whitehouse Precinct, and Nikon dropped without another word. Word soon got out that President Nikon Dmitriy was dead. Russia instantly went into a frenzy, demanding retribution for the death of their leader. Only due to some drastic promises by the UN did they prevent an all out war against America. They promised them another plant, and that the assassin would be brought to justice. It settled them for the moment, but the peace wouldn’t last.

By 2061, Russia had another President. Miron Valakov. This man would soon be seen as the creator of chaos. Being the leader of the Communist party in Russia, they quickly severed their ties to the UN, demanding independence and freedom of choice among their nation. It wasn’t long before Russia started building their military strength under the rule of the power hungry Miron Valakov. Miron believed everything to be the West’s fault, and believed without a shadow of a doubt that the world would be better without them. Tensions rose higher than way back during the Cold War. Miron was very charismatic, convincing even the other Eastern nations, including France and Germany, that the West was corrupt and would do anything to further their own ambitions without a thought about anyone else. Soon, the UN was disbanded, and the NADF, North American Defense Force, was created. By combining all of America and Canada into one huge military force, they quickly started preparing for war.

The year 2064 was also given another name. End year…

No one knows who fired the first shot. All that is known is that a missile fired from somewhere appeared on both North America’s radar along with the RC, Russian Collective’s radar. It landed in the Pacific Ocean without hitting any targets, but this simply started a panic on both sides. Both sides believed the other fired the missile but the missile failed in flight. WWIII officially began on April 27th, 2064.

Nuclear missiles were extinct, but basic ground-to-ground missiles were still in use, and both sides unleashed hell on each other before the war actually started using infantry. Weapons research was advanced, and within the same year of the war starting, weapons using Trinium as ammunition were being brought to the frontlines. Armor was then advanced to counter the melting effects of the unrefined energy. Trinium in its unrefined form was not radioactive, but highly corrosive, and could eat through a tank’s armor in minutes. Within the first ten years of the war, armor and weapons had advanced almost a hundred years. New tanks, armor, weapons, and aircraft were fighting all over the globe.

The fighting continued for another forty years, both sides refusing to give in to the other. The threat of annexation was high for everyone, but the populations of the world were fed up with being in a constant war. Already a generation had been born and known nothing but constant war. It wasn’t until Miron took some drastic measures did the war actually end. During the year of 2113, Miron got the idea of trying to put Trinium into a warhead. He had his scientists outfit the rocket with a full ton of Trinium and rigged it with retro-rockets so as to make the rocket reach its target faster. The scientists warned that this was treading dangerously close to nuclear weapons research, but Miron would have none of it. He gave the order to fire, and the rocket launched towards the fiercest fighting in the Middle East.

The explosion could be felt all the way in America.

The Trinium bomb was as powerful as ten nuclear warheads. The entire Middle East was gone. Nothing standing over two inches remained, and even the corpses of the soldiers were completely obliterated for tens of hundreds of miles. After hearing the reports, the civilian population of both Russia and America stormed the government buildings. Within an hour, they had an ultimatum. End the war or both governments were going to face public execution in front of everyone’s who’s lives had been affected by this apocalypse.

The war ended on January 2nd, 2114. The governments then disbanded, so far into debt they could no longer afford to stay in office. The world plunged back into the dark ages for another year before private companies started taking over. The largest of companies would use their own private armies or that of hired contractors to take a chunk of land for their own, and that is how the world started today.

The year is now 2124, and the world is back into the caste system of things. Civilians are peasants, soldiers of private companies are the knights, the workers of the companies are nobles, and the leaders of the companies are the king and queens. Some companies are completely ruthless, others are kinder, and yet others simply worked off greed. These companies ranged from tobacco companies with hired goons to Para-military firms. Within the ten years of the war’s end, these companies had literally taken over the world. The collapse of the governments forced someone to step up, and unfortunately, the average citizen got the short end of the stick. The companies then formed a weak truce between the most powerful of their number to prevent another war like the one they had just survived. However, there are always reports of one company fighting another, but that’s natural. Fighting is the very core of a human being. It’s all we know, and all we’ll ever know. Maybe someday we’ll all forgive and forget, but I wouldn’t hold my breath.

So there it is; the state of the world and how it got to where it is today. You are part of one of those companies, which one is up to you. There are some funky things going on in the world today. You might say the world is completely fucked up, and you would be right. However, it isn’t your job to fix it, why would you want to? You benefit from the world being this way, unless you are a goody goody two shoes. However, the state of the world is yet for another change; one that if it doesn’t unite people, nothing ever will. Should you choose to accept, you would be given a list of highly recommended companies to join, along with any position in that company. You will be compensated for this venture. I will be awaiting your response
