Halo 4
I was recently astounded to learn that the trailer for Halo 4 was out.... I did not even know 343 Industries was making Halo 4. So, really, I was more surprised of the fact that it took me so long to hear about it than the fact that they are making it.
Anyway... The trailer adds about...10 seconds to the legendary ending of Halo 3, yet it makes me drool for the game. It won't be released until Holiday season of 2012 Quite a long wait.
But! Halo: Anniversary, a remake of Halo 1, will be coming out November 15, 2011. A waste of money? Yeah, probably. But that won't stop me from getting it someday.
So, any thoughts on what the Halo 4 story will be about? I mean, the fight was finished. The only thing they have left to unveil is the Forerunner story. Or they can delve into the post-war Covenant or humanity struggles. Or what is left of the Flood. I am hoping for something with the Forerunner, or Precursors, but I don't really know what they will do with that in terms of a video game.

Re: Halo 4
During the end of Halo 3(Legendary ending), it showed the half of Dawn (that Master Chief and Cortana were on) approaching an unknown planet. It's probable that this planet is home to a species that hasn't been discovered yet. I think its either going to be the forerunners or a new species. If 343 Industries is smart, they would wait until later to introduce the precursors, but they may give clues throughout the story of Halo 4.

I do agree with this point, but I was kind of referring to the next trilogy overall. However, I concede that they may not actually be introduced in 4 (if at all).

Well, they may not mention the precursors at all in the next Halo trilogy. I just really hope that they don't stretch the series to the point it falls apart. (such as what happened to great classic games like megaman and sonic)

I kinda also hope they don't ruin it as well. However, through reading the books, which might be dubious sources of informations, and some of halo 2 and 3, there is a conclusion about the forerunners. They were probably human.
-The book about Harvest has humans become recognized as Forerunner relics/ life signs. Halo 1, that annoying ball u finally get to kill in three goes to M.C. instead of any of the many covenant no doubt already in the place when the Flood break out.
- Halo 2/3 (can't remember)- I believe the head Prophet, Truth(?), rants about no wonder the Forerunners didn't bring you with them on their great journey, etc.
-Earth is the key to getting to the getting to the master foundry system to build the rings, which seems like a remarkable coincidence for humans to evolve there otherwise.
I had more points, but I will have to play through the games again to gather more evidence for that. I am also excited for Halo 4 and what will come. There is some info on wiki that bungie made a game called marathon that was in the future from halo and was the same character. It was also apparently confirmed from some designer from there. Take that with a grain of salt though.

Re: Halo 4
There is a new trilogy in the works (books) about the Forerunners. The first book is out, and sheds light on so much of the history. It tells you who the Forerunner are as well.
The first book is called Halo: Cryptum. If you read this book, and the description of the next book (which will be released on January 3, 2012), I think it gives a pretty good idea of what Halo 4 will be about. Frank O'Connor has even stated that it will have close ties with Halo 4.
