Marcus Sandz

Appearance: Sandz is six feet tall, and heavily built. He is tanned, and his many brawling scars stand out against his skin. He had square regular features before his nose was broken, and notch was taken out of his left cheek bone after a vicious encounter with a rogue mage. While he keeps his head clean shaven, he rarely appears without some kind of stubble on his cheeks. He has slightly sunken bright blue eyes, and a broad smile, with surprisingly white and unbroken teeth. He has heavily callused hands and feet, and broad thick knuckles that grow harder and bigger with each passing day.

Personality: Sandz is a pyromaniac, alcoholic brawler. He loves a good fight, and a good challenge. He is inherently good natured, and usually likes to make friends with those he fights. He is fairly generous, and genial. He is fairly intelligent, and doesn't take life to seriously. He hates paperwork and tends to be fairly erratic. He loves to cook.

Occupation: Mage, currently a bodyguard to a more senior mage

Quick History: Marcus is the son of Benjamin Sandz, known as “Quick Ben,” and a well known restauranteur Alicia Sandz. His father served the Mage Council, an international organization of magic users as a guard. They interact and negotiate with national governments for work contracts and employ guards for both the three Colleges, and to catch rogues. His father is currently away on some work assignment. Both Sandz and his father are forbidden from staying with Alicia, as she is tired of dealing with them burning down her restaurant or her home by accident. Sandz is currently held in low regard due to his 'failure' on his last mission.

Personality Basics: He is fairly strict with those under his command. He also has a weakness for smoking, and is fairly cynical. Aran is currently divorced, and neither of his children are mages. Both are currently a disappointment, showing neither foresight in business or scholarly acumen. He is obsessed with the stars, disregards anything that he regards as extraneous.
Quick History: Aran is the top Astrologist of his college and commands a large amount of respect. He is currently working with a few engineers to design a new kind of observatory that will float higher to observe the stars. He needs either a new kind of power core, or lighter, stronger materials. He is a friend to Ben Sandz, and is looking out for his son because of friendship.

Personality Basics: Used to deceit, Alice has no qualms about pickpocketing or other forms of mild crime so long as she gets money out of it. She layers herself in fakery, pretending to be kind and gentle at times, at others, pretending to be cruel and pretending to delight in that cruelty. She is an enigma wrapped in a mystery, but at heart she does have a rather soft side, especially for street orphans, and she has allowed kid thieves to steal her money on occasion. She's been hiding herself for so long that it is extremely difficult to get to know her, mostly because it can be near impossible to tell whether her emotion is real or not. She dislikes aristocracy, most rules, especially taxes, and holds a resentment for anyone who has been able to grow up properly and live normally.

Quick History: Alice lived on the streets for most of her childhood. She was forced to learn how to steal and, as consequence, needed to know how to conceal her emotions and intentions from others. When she was nine, her powers started to manifest themselves. Having no money and a general fear of the aristocracy, Alice decided to teach herself, and still owns the books she stole to do so. Mostly self-taught, at the age of twelve she discovered an old blind begger who happened to know quite a bit about magic, and in return for feeding him, she learned much more about magic than she could ever hope to learn by herself. Alice started to work, taking odd jobs from anyone she could, most of which were less than honorable -- but at least they put food in her stomach.

Extra Notes: Despite her disregard for almost everything else, Alice holds the highest regard for life, and has never killed anything or anyone.
