I voted the Bestower. It was a tough match up between it and the Firefly, but she's a sturdy bitch. I think we'll come to appreciate that armor.

I'm torn between the Bestower and the Corsair... I think I'll vote for the Bestower for now, however. I mean, while I think that starting with some weapons would be a good thing, and a good ship to start with would give us a solid edge and make us less vulnerable to piracy and other such nonsense, unless people switch votes the Corsair just isn't going to be picked so I'm tentatively voting Bestower with probable change if the Corsair ever enters the running...

Also, I'm pretty sure that was a massive run-on sentence. Good times.

On another note, would it cost money to have an AI "assistant" for a character? I'm working on an engineer (well, actually two so that the vote can decide which gets recruited), and I have a picture in my head of an AI that would serve in a function similar to a PDA-- storing and retrieving data, managing schematics, and occasionally providing witty commentary (not that a PDA does that last one...). No real use, just curious if I could implement that dynamic.

There are two types of AI. Ones that are made when a human mind is transferred into a digital medium. These AIs retain the human aspects from its former body such as emotions, memories, etc and the only real difference between the brain and the digital medium is the latter is much better at multitasking and processing information at a fast rate.

The second type is a synthetic AI which is entirely man made from raw data and programming. These AIs are unparalleled in intelligence and processing power and are the very reason the Drex's momentum was stopped cold. When placed into a ship's weapon targeting system, the result is awe inspiring as entire waves of Drex assault Mechs are shot out of the sky in the time it takes for the turrets to make a sweep from one side to the other. It is because of this technology that Terrans are viewed as equal among the older empires and the UEF goes to great lengths to ensure every single one of them are under government control and protection. Even if you did manage to have the clearance for it, you would be able to buy your own personal Titan Class ship before you could afford a synthetic AI.

Short answer, no. I just wanted you to understand why I rejected your request. At most, you would be able to have access to a low level VI unit at the start.

Oookay. I hadn't seen the distinction between AI and VI, but after reading up on that VI is more along the lines of what I had in mind. How much would said low-level VI set me back? Actually, I suppose that wouldn't matter until I knew how much money we'll have, and taking a cue from the ship post I'm guessing that will have to do with a dice roll. Eh. I guess I'll just do without.

Alex took a tour of the space port and was instantly drawn to the Bestower moored in the oceanside docks. After being shown the interior of the carrier, the captain could practically feel the potential radiating from within the hauls. He knew that ship was the one. After going through a more thorough sweep with the owner to ensure everything was in working order and that he wouldn’t some across any surprises when in vacuum.

“I’ll take it!”

The owner beamed his excitement at the buyer. ”I am very glad to hear that. Tell you what, I’ve become good friends with the people who run this space port. Go to the ship outfitters and tell them you are the new owner of this ship. They’ll cut you some nice deals on the things you’ll be needing and get it installed in no time.”




Now we get to choose what all we want to supply the ship with. We currently have 65,000,000cR. Just remember that we’re gonna have to pay off our debt before we can start investing in shinies after this, so don’t spend all of it.
