Re: What are you listening to?
I've been listening to a rock band called Halestorm obsessively since Christmas. They have a similar sound to Paramore, Evanescence, and Within Temptation, but the lead singer is phenomenal and has one of the best vocal ranges I've ever heard. She does a cover of Lady Gaga's "Bad Romance" that totally trumps the original.

I definitely recommend giving Halestorm a listen. I saw them in concert, and it was even better than the studio recordings. They really know how to put on a show as well as just sing. You can find tons of videos on Youtube.

While I'm not listening to it at the moment, Halestorm's cover of "Slave to the Grind" has been stuck in my head all day. I swear, it's like an instant dose of caffeine for my brain...

Right now I’m listening to “I will always love you” by Whitney Houston. She was one of the best vocalists of the 90s & she had such an amazing voice. We really miss your wonderful voice Whitney!

Re: What are you listening to?
I must admit... I'm a bit confused at this Halestorm having a similiar sound to Within Temptation thing... but listening to:
Face of Melinda (Live) by Opeth
I hate that I was not able to see them with Katatonia a few months back.

Re: What are you listening to?
I've never heard that song... What genre is it?
I'm listening to Marianas Trench's Ever After album. It's actually extremely amazing. My love suggested that they're kind of like a mixture of Queen-if-they'd-been-around-twenty-years-later and Panic! at the Disco if they were more talented and more awesome.
All I know is that these guys are really talented. They harmonize fantastically, and their songs all flow into the next one on the album, and the final song is actually like a compilation of all the songs that came before it on the album.

Interesting comparison there... not sure I really here it myself, but interesting. As for myself, listening to Green Carnation's Acoustic Verses album. Strongly recommend it to anyone who hasn't heard of them.

Re: What are you listening to?
I've went from listening to the soundtracks to Lost Odyssey and Tales of Vesperia to Whispered's debut album. How I went from video game music to melodic death metal utilizing japanese instruments and themes I don't rightly know still but... it works. For me anyway.

Re: What are you listening to?
I've been on another round of devouring Epic music. Groups like Two Steps From Hell, Audiomachine, Future World Music, X-Ray Dog, and more. This one was kicked off by a Guild Wars 2 trailer put to the song To Glory by Two Steps From Hell, and maaaan, I tell you...
Every time I hear that song, it stays with me the rest of the day! xD
For anyone who knows the song but hasn't seen it put to Guild Wars 2, this is the video I'm talking about. ^_^

Re: What are you listening to?
I love Two Steps from Hell. Guilty Carrion, Muse, and Quaker have gotten me hooked on a bunch of their songs. Also, if you're in the mood for epic music, check out "Wings of Icarus" by Celldweller. 'Tis most epic indeed.

Re: What are you listening to?
I'm not particularly fantatic about Halestorm. I do think they have some good lyrics. Whoever writes their songs does good work. But their guitar sounds always make me think of Sonata Arctica and I'd rather listen to them.
Now I'm going to look up their Lady Gaga cover though.
Today Schnappi is stuck in my head. One of the dance versions. It's the theme song of the nursery cartoon about a little crocodile, sung by a five year old. And I swear to you, it topped the singles charts in Europe for weeks when it came out years ago.
It's aggressive ear-worm.

Re: What are you listening to?
I admit, I honestly do not get the Haelstorm love a lot of people are seemingly to get anymore. When they first came out I thought they were pretty 'meh' already. Nothing I've heard since was any better. Particularly the cover of Slave to the Grind. But, eh, each to their own. I am curious though, Moon Ray, which songs of theirs do you think the guitar sounds like Sonata Arctica? Not a huge fan of them either, but I do love one of their albums and haven't made any connection in the guitar sounds so... yeah, be curious what songs you think sound similiar.
Currently listening to The Light I Shine on You by Kamelot. Rather interested to see/hear the new singer is... and hoping my faith in Thomas to pick a good one pulls through.

Abney Park's 2011 album, Off The Grid.
I don't usually have favorites, but this band has stayed at the top of my Most Played list for ages now. I love the banjolele and button accordion and horns. And the stories of course. Nothing like some post apocalyptic westerns to get you in the mood to RP. =]
Plus Captain Robert has a gorgeous voice.
Who can't wait for the next album?! Just a few more days! So far it sounds wicked!
