Heroism-- Last Check
"Heroes are born, not made."
People come so CLOSE to the truth sometimes, it almost hurts to watch. As a matter of fact, heroes ARE made, just rarely.
And as a result, the universe has to… recycle.
"Heroes never die."
It might be easiest to start with Heroes.
Heroes are beings of their own, separate from this mortal coil.
At birth, the parents of select children are given an decision; to allow their child to bond with a Hero, or to decline the offer.
Most accept.
A Hero then enters the child's body, and usually spends years dormant before being awakened in a time of need. When the need does arise, the Hero lends the mortal it's skills and wisdom, offering advice and (usually) staying in the back seat, though they can assume direct control of their hosts if necessary.
The powers that a Hero provides his host depend on the domain of the Hero. A domain can really be anything; fire, water, baked goods, non-fiction books, it's all fair game. The more specific, specialized, and generally limited a domain is, the more power a Hero can wield within it.
At night, while their hosts sleep, the Heroes would return to their Academy, a sort of inter-spatial focus where they reside when not in use. So the RP would cycle through events in the host's lives, cutting to the Academy when the Heroes need to discuss things separate from their hosts.
And that's really it. The beauty of this idea is that, depending on what you guys would like to play, I can set it in any world and have any sort of story. Each person would play one (or possibly more?) Heroes, as well as a host for each Hero.

Plenty of room on this ship, for now at least. ^_^

Mmmmkay... Well, I might as well start discussing the potential settings so I can move this to OOC-- hopefully we'll land some more people with specific details.
As far as I can see, we can do most anything but scifi with this. So, high fantasy, steampunk, some hybrid of the two, or possibly even a modern setting with or without fantasy elements. Or something else I'm not thinking of. Since you two are all we have at the moment, just cast your votes and, if you don't pick the same setting, I'll cast my vote limited between you two's choices so we'll at least get a decision.

Re: Heroism-- Last Check
Mmmk, since I've heard from like two or three people now that were wanting more details before committing, I'm going to give this one more shot.
Lurkers out there, make a vote on the setting for this RP. You're not committing to be in it, your simply showing me that there is at least an interest to make the hour-ish of my time I need to invest in making a world a worthwhile investment.
So, if you want more details, or you'd only really be interested for a certain setting, go ahead and vote anyway. You guys showing an interest is the only way this is gonna go forward, because I don't want to waste my time.

Oook... So then, I guess I need a little more detail. How public is the knowledge of the fantasy elements? Is it something only a handful of those not involved in it know about, like in many books, or is it common knowledge?

Re: Heroism-- Last Check
Like, much fiction has a fantasy sub-world within our own, but yet hidden to the public eye-- look at the wizarding world of Harry Potter, for example. Other works have the fantasy world fully integrated into the regular world, so learning that your neighbor was an elf or vampire (or... *gasp* an elven vampire!) wouldn't really be a huge shocker. Really, just to what extent should fantasy be involved in the world?

Guuuuys? I've seen both of you on IRC since I responded there, and I don't have an answer from either of you. Come on now...

Re: Heroism-- Last Check
I am sorry, but all of my creative juices are flowing towards my own roleplay. For me to join another roleplay, I need all of the details and creativity part to be done for most part by the creator because I just don't have much time to put thought in to something else right now.
I'm withdrawing.

I'm in. I also wish it to be a modern day with fantasy elements. I also have a great idea for my character. This is an interesting concept, and if pulled off right, I think we could make it great.

Sorry, internet was off for a few days. I'm gonna go with the sub-society unknown to the greater world option there.

I agree with that. Modern day with fantasy that normal people don't know about. That is agreed.

Re: Heroism-- Last Check
I'm working, I'm working! Seriously guys, I just realized that I have an actual shot at getting into Carnegie Mellon (my first choice school), so I'm trying to get my act together with school before I jump in here. Rest assured though, my ADD mind insures that I'm thinking the world for this out... well, probably more time than I should. I'll hopefully get something up this weekend; I already owe posts in my existing thread, and Baker's thread, and I haven't even checked Emoria in far too long, so I'm way behind schedule due to this whole real life thing. Anyway, once I get my life in order things will move along at a much better pace.
