Yes, Fluesopp's map is wonderful. I can't wait until we can add more to it.
Mine sucks but it is nice seeing the two landmasses in one big picture!

Indeed! (that Flues map is awesome, not that yours 'sucks'.... >.> xD)
However, I wonder if it is possible to have like rainforest terrain/plain terrain/swamp terrain in that map to have more detail and coherence, or if the engine is limited, because that would put the cherry on top of an already delicious sunday.

On Light/Dark:
Cool, I like having them simple element attributes better anyway; natural alignment correspondence was just part of how I had been viewing them up until now.
Still, now that I think about it, Silvone has a point: it changes little. There are still heavy dispositions one way or the other; it's just the principle of the thing to keep predetermined alignment out of the picture.
I believe in being precise, so I appreciate the delineation.
As for Sanctus Unus, by no means does it infringe upon the 'no definite religions' rule.
The Spirit Plane is the highest plane; that's just part of the Emoria world. Something is in there. That much is objective.
Sanctus Unus is the Vatiennien interpretation of what they think is there that, they figure, is watching over the whole world. These are subjective beliefs which may or may not be exactly true.
Same with the Thendári belief in the "Highest." To them it's the thing that sent Alos to them and helped take care of the Rift. It's just their interpretation of what they think is there in the Spirit Plane that, they figure, is watching over everything. Subjective belief which might not, or might, be true.
Does that clear it up?

Re: Emoria: OOC
You said yourself that he rules over the spirit plane and therefore everything in existance. Plus, he's being worshipped as a diety, and he has the ability to make Jean the Papus, which means he objectivally has immense power, if he can imbdue that much juju into a man. That's alot of power, and this being obviously isn't keeping it's nose out of Emoria.

Re: Emoria: OOC
Their deity, Sanctus Unus, is their interpretation of whatever highest being rules the Spirit Plane and, by extension, everything in existence.
This whatever-it-is, if it is, is not making Jean the Papus. The people are making him Papus. He's going close to the Rift to get close to the Spirit Plane. No actual being need be involved; I'll leave that up to Silvone and Ryona.
Re: Emoria: OOC
You're saying that that's they're interpritation of that being. Saying it really exists, but everyone views it differently. Even if no one meets it, you're saying, this grand being of the spirit plane, rules everything in existance. Thats establishing it as a god. It's not really vague. It's pretty definative.
I just don't want another 'god' dropping into Emoria. We have enough almost deities.

It was made in 6 hrs, and I did not have any information about rainforests and such, except for the first, basic map. I could spend some more time, but alas, I don't know the land good enough.

I believe I should step into this and pretty much resolve this issue because I actually do have the knowledge to do so.
There is no definitive evidence that there is an actual ruler of the spiritual plane. There is only believe that there is from certain groups. Kalon needs to take note of this.
Alos said to the thendari that the 'highest' sent him to them, but for all we know that is one big load of bullshit he has been feeding them to make them follow him in his personal war against shadow. You ask Morgararth what there is in the spirit plane, he would say that the spirit plane is nothing, merely the place the dead go to reside once their worthless mortal lives have ended and that it only has power as a battery that someone used once to create the boundaries between planes.
Dax's people believe that there is a god that dwells there, perfectly legitimate for them to believe such a thing because belief doesn't make it fact. The ritual that jean goes through to become papus merely involves going really close to the rift and essentially bathing in the 'energies' of the spirit plane that flow through it.
I think that helps but if not tell me so I can explain it better.

Eh, Raptor pretty much closed the deal right there. He explained what I was about to. If there any questions, ask me. I made the religion, so I can also change it if it bothers some people.

Re: Emoria: OOC
I think it fits. The proximity to the rift imbuing the powers was what I thought was behind it anyway, so I can accept that.

Re: Emoria: OOC
I don't have a problem with it as long as Kalon is clear that this being is not top dog in the deity world. A crazy powerful dude tricking people into thinking he's a god? That's totally in the realm of possiblility.
But he's not God of the entire world/universe. We just have to make sure that power isn't abused just like Morgarath's power. I trust Kalon will do well with that.
Edit: Speaking of Deity, I wonder where Wee Jas fits in.
Edit Edit: @Fluesopp, there are other maps that show parts of the provinces, but alot of it is described in words. Thats why I've never managed to complete a topographical map...

Re: Emoria: OOC
Ok, so I've begun work on my landmass, and I'm just wondering if the basic idea is acceptable, or if it goes too much against the whole world.
The idea of the country, Selton, is that they have discovered the power of steam, and is harnessing that power for machines and factories. It's very early in development, and only the largest cities have the technology.
The implications of this are zeppelins, steamers and simple trains.
But it's not a large country, and the technology they have is not widely known yet. Also, since earth magic is widespread in Selton, there are many who thinks that steam is either wrong, or just a passing fad.
The earth magic that's common in Selton is magic requiring blood; the users need physical contact with the ground, or a rock, to work the magic. The use of the magic consumes a small portion of the blood in their body and excessive use leaves them weakened for an extended period of time.
Most of the inhabitants of Selton worship Mother Emora, the very earth, as a living being. Some even account their earth magic to 'her'.
I guess I'm allowed to define government and culture as I like, but this is the two areas I'm concerned about.

Silvone and I don't have a problem with the technology, as long as it starts out as a rareity like you describe. However seeing as this RP is dependent upon collaboration we need to make sure others do not have major concerns.
Your magic use is perfectly acceptable and there should be no complaints regarding this.

Re: Emoria: OOC
um... This is just my 2 cents, but...
We had a major brawl way back when about freaking gunpowder. Steam seems... maybe a bit much. I could see something along the lines of magicpunk, maybe (or, in other words, "This works because of magic"), but the tech for any part of Emoria being that far ahead seems to me more than a little far-fetched. Steam in our world had the entire force of the renaissance and several (dozen) contries behind it, which is what made it advance so quickly.
A good analogy for what you've put forward might be ancient china. They were so far ahead of everyone around them that they pretty much just walled themselves off. I'm not entirely sure that that's really the feel you're going for, and I'm certainly sure that I, personally, would rather not have steam tech invading my fantasy setteng.
That's just how I feel, though. There are legitimate arguments to the contrary.
The magic, on the other hand, seems to have just the right flavor for Emoria. Nice job!

I kinda agree with Buzzwulf...I mean, especially if you develop it down the steampunk route, that's a big technological advancement.
Although, the zeppies remind me something I meant to ask. Where does Emoria stand with 'air-forces'? I know the plane of air is basically just that, but the other nations? Does anyone have stuff like Gryphon riders? Or Wyverns? Giant angry bat-beasts? I don't remember it in any world spaces, but most of our militaries are pretty hush.

I have giant bat things. They are what captured the ambassador from the plane of air.
By the way I completely agree with buzzwulf. Steam tech is not a good idea.

Re: Emoria: OOC
Maybe a small number (regiment or so) of gryphon/wyvern/whatever riders could be in the realm of possibility. I mean, Vatiennien gryphon air riders would fit perfectly with the cultural setting, but that is up to Silvone and Ryona.
Also, I am updating my Vatienne CS with a whole military tab that I coincidentally hashed out because of Plague, so I am going to go ahead and post that.

Re: Emoria: OOC
Since a number of members are against the steam idea, you have a few options Fluesopp.
1. Scrap the idea and think up something new.
2. Use the suggestion of being a reclusive nation. We would have to make it a rule that you could not invade any other nations simply because of your strength, unless we agreed to make it a major plotline thing.
3. You can also still try to argue your point and persuade the others that it really won't be much of a problem.

Re: Emoria: OOC
I'll scrap it then.
Hm.. Perhaps I should base the country around the earth magic then..
Anyway, here's the map for my region.
http://fluesoppen.com/images/div/Selton.jpg
Over the next few days I'll try to get as much detailing done as I can. But I have to finish my Traveling Salesman problem algorithm(Both greedy and random ), and this weekend I'm going on a mountain trip so it might not be done.
edit: Now that I think about it, steam would actually not be too widespread in a magic world, as the things one would normally use steamworks for would be covered by magic, which is a simpler and easier method of doing things.

Wow that was awesome, Flue.
And I think you did a wise choice in scrapping the steam engines. It could have asily devolved into a shit storm down here, xD.

I'll add Selton to the overall map, and post your map in the maps section so it will be easily accessible.
Edit: We got three name suggestions, I never heard from Spectre. Would you guys like to vote for one name, or have that one continent have three seperate names (Southwest, Southeast, and North)?

Oh right, I forgot to ask.
What kind of magic creatures exist in Emoria? And which don't?
edit: And also, is there a way to change theme on the forums? The current theme is broken in Opera...

Well, I think we created this world, and a world is never, ever finished.
So please, come up with some new ones and Silvone/Ryona will see if it makes sense or not! Well, that is just my two cents, anyway...

I would say that you call that landmass by 3 names. My personal opinion, it is big enough to warrant that many

Re: Emoria: OOC
I don't think there is a theme changer...you can look in the suggestions thread to see if there is anything but I'm pretty sure that Weiss said Opera doesn't work well with forumotion in general and suggested to use a different browser.
As for the creature question...There are special races on each plane (we currently only have a Spirit and Air representatives, though) and on the material plane (ie Emoria) there are Lycans, Trolls, Elves, a bunch of evil creatures Raptor would have to tell you about...I do believe there are some zombie animal things coming up soon...a Lich... Oh there are also a mer people that live in the Aqualyt Island territory.
There is probably a lot more but I can't think of any right now.
Edit: I don't think we've had any dragons come up yet...please feel free to make your own. Even if there are dragons in existance, a fantasy world cannot have too many different types of dragons!

Re: Emoria: OOC
I was more worried about the clichéd Dragon Riders/Friendly Dragon stereotype which are so popular right now, along with sparklepires and angles.
I might create one, if I get time after creating Selton.
There should be some kind of bestiary in the info thread, I think. (lol, for some reason the spell check suggested Sebastian instead of beastiary...)
edit: how about two names, east and west?

It was supposed to happen, but Silvone and I were overwhelmed and no one ever bothered to do it. We were also supposed to have a collection of religions as well, but it never happened.
Needless to say, if anyone happens to want to make such things, we will readily take them and display them in the info thread for all to see.
If we do two names we will still have to hold a vote, since I have three to choose from.

Lol, I hate it when that happens to me. I think the word was toothpick (not sure why I was writing that...) and the damn spell checker gave me Terry Jones... Who is Terry Jones? And why does his name resemble that of the word toothpick? I DON'T GET IT.
Dragons could just as well be part of your continent, although I don't think they play a role on the other one.
