*Snickers*
Yes, we're in need of a Hero in our story, someone to play one of these vampires trying to keep the secret in the dark where it belongs; as well as stopping Shadow from commiting his crimes. Any takers?

Re: Darker City Streets: Closed.
Is this still open? Also, sorry I have no idea where it is if so. I would like to join, and it has been some time since I have stretched my brain in a more modern setting. It seems time to do so. I have several character ideas in mind. For instance, what does the local criminal underground think of this? Any investigative reporters around, getting under foot of the hard working detectives? Also, what does the coroner think of these strange and unusual cases?

Our role of hero has just been aquired by Kail, however with the twist of the plot that will develop, there is room for another if you still have interest! The link above is the story, and where it rests currently. (I believe it's my turn to post; something I won't really get to until this weekend or early next week, college keeps you busy!)
But, as for the questions!
Criminal Underground: Not everyone thinks the same. Some groups are rather pleased to see this 'Shadow' causing such chaos in the world; not everyone believes in good and bad, some people just enjoy insanity, and seeing it like a movie play out before them they simply sit back, watch, and encourage. Others are angry that they're being made to look like a fool, and so wish this Shadow's actions to stop.
IR's: I'm sure it's being done, but very little information is available, so the police, considering, are doing one hell of a job.
Coroner: Baffled.

Shades: Good sum up.
Kalaam: We are definitely still open. And if you choose to join us you will be part of the decision making process. We'd be excited to have you add some of those extra dimensions to the story
Throw up a character sheet and let us know what you would like to tackle.
Edit:
Kail: AHHHHHH!!!!!!!!! I love you!!! You are awesome Nice posting Could we get a profile up for Sy?

Re: Darker City Streets: Closed.
I'd like to add another character if you all don't mind.
I was thinking along the lines of a neutral vampire, the kind of dark creature who is ''sold to the highest bidder''. Y'know, leans towards the side that benefits most to him/her.
Possible, or not possible? I can totally understand if you're cool with my just dealing with my bro/sis vamps at the moment. lol.

Re: Darker City Streets: Closed.
E I'm definitely not opposed to another character. At the moment, however, I'd like to see us get the current characters running before any of us try to add a third. If you'd rather play this other vampire than the two that you have we might be able to work something out. But after we get running again for a while, I think a third would be fine let's just work with what we've got going for a bit to see what we can develop. Plus there's new guys adding to the mix yay.
But eventually, I think it would be awesome to get another neutral vampire in; especially since it seems that Shadow is attracting other vampire attention. It would make perfect sense.

Re: Darker City Streets: Closed.
Yeah. It is not one I would add instantly. An old character I've got in my vault who I thought would fit in perfectly.
Lussietta Vivicci, a vampire (sometimes a werewolf depending on the rp variation). She's the kind of vampire that is drawn to the glorious things, the fame and riches and popularity. She's knowing of the boundaries between right and wrong, but prefers to dance along the middle line until a side can sway her. Old, and powerful, usually describes this glamorous Italian Vampiress.
BUT Later, later. XD

Re: Darker City Streets: Closed.
My name is Caine, Darion Caine.
The first words were always the easiest to write, they were always the same. I write for the beat of America. A few plaques hung on the walls for outstanding journalism. Even a Pulitzer was in the works for that major corruption scandal. Of course Dizarri was still after my blood, but... I wasn't too worried about that. Even if my reports, my pictures were not technically admissible evidence, it still influenced public opinion. So did the fact that the last goon he sent after me had disappeared after a horrible accident. Some skills never deteriorated, and for once, I could thank my sadistic trainers for something.
Muddy brown hair shook from that, and water droplets flew out as I hauled my tired carcass out of the pool. My local pool was the best one to train in, because no one came when I did. The lifeguard on duty managed to life her tired, sleep deprived head up enough to register that the machine had indeed exited the pool, and she could go collapse on the couch. Everyday, at four o'clock, the day began. The pool at 4:10 exactly as I let myself in. 6:10, every day, my swimming finished. I finished early today, merely half an hour into her shift, instead of forty minutes. I waved at Eileen, and toweled off.
Today, I prepared a meal from yogurt, a bagel, dry, and a pear. For her, I brought a cup of coffee, a doughnut, and some wrapped and packaged chocolate. I smiled at her, and she blearily looked back. It was too early for her to truly function, but everyday she came to watch me, and me alone workout. I never knew why. I doubt it was the pay, or the shifts, because at her age I had the same job, and sleep was more important. Handing her the coffee, i started in on my yogurt. Halfway through the bagel, the tell-tale signs of life entered her sparkling blue-green eyes. Ahh, consciousness returns.
"How is class?"
"Same as always, Mr. Barnes is a stuck up prig without an ounce of decency." The flat emotionless tone gave her away, as always. I hid a smile behind a bottle of water.
"Another journey down Romeo and Juliet, I suppose." I gauged her reaction carefully, noting the beginning of rolled eyes. I stopped her with a dramatic motion, hand clapped to my forehead, and one waving at hers.
"No! I see! The horror, the inhumanity of it all!" I dropped my arms at her judgment of my apparently lame dramatic irony.
"It can't be that bad to read Hamlet."
She grunted, and stared at her coffee.
"Besides, it was only a B- on the paper. I told him he was being generous. Next time don't try and copy my old papers."
I turned and left, tossing the core in the trash can as I left. She started as the pear rustled the black plastic. Oh yes, I know. I had a soft spot in my heart for the kid. The line of logic I pursued during that particular monologue was as far out of her league at the moment as the NFL was.
Five minutes later, an angry but awake face glared at me as I emerged from the locker room, freshly changed, and shaved. The look of angry betrayal in her eyes would have wounded me had I not grinned and tousled her hair. She hated that, too.
"You told me you wouldn't say anything about our discussions." She was working up a good rant, fuming now.
"Now, now, Pumpkin. I never said anything about your true erudition beginning here--"
"But, but, how did you know?" The spluttering was never a good sign and dodged the angered assault easily.
"I keep an eye on you kid, your mother was close to me before she died, and I know you don't get along well with your father. In fact, I know so well, that I also know I am on your emergency list before he is."
She stared hard, at the total seeming violation of her privacy.
"Paul really isn't a bad man you know."
She crossed her arms and glared harder.
"He does try." The silence gave her reply. I sighed and shook my head, remembering some golden memories. That was another life ago now, though. She had been beautiful, and could have been mine. That was a long time ago.
"I also know you have fall break starting this afternoon. Cheer up." The glaring eyes had not blinked, Uh oh... Hell hath no wrath like a woman scorned, and this one was a teenager, so it was extra scary. I would rather have some of the scars reapplied than alienate one of my only friends. Rather charge through the gunfire again, face the angry faces, the gleaming knives. That was just pain, and I did deserve it from their opinion. It just wasn't Uncle Sam's unofficial opinion. The memory had driven me into reporting in those shit holes, instead of fighting in them. Could it really be only six years ago? The girl still had not blinked, and it was eerie.
"How about this, I will take you out on my next trip? It's to Seattle, so you could say could be to the mountains here." I mentally crossed my fingers and prayed. At eighteen, she was legally entitled to do so, and Paul had already given his Okay. It worked, as spasms of suppressed happiness made her face tremble.
"Really? That would be great, Tina and Alice would be so jealous!"
Train ride for two, give me time to work on more in that book. My name is Caine, Darion Caine. I have felt the beat of the world. I have been many places. Seen Many Different Kinds of People. And I killed most of them.
I rolled a shoulder as she hugged me, the tattoo on the under side of my arm itching. Why did is seem like this was the end of many lives?
So I would rather not actually do a write up of both characters because they are both completely new. However, I do have experience integrating and polishing on the fly so it usually fails to be an issue. If you need a complete write up or wish to exclude the girl, that is fine. Basically, Caine works on a part time basis for any editor that will take his work. His pension from the government covers most of his basic living expenses, and the royalties from his articles had made him comfortably wealthy.

Re: Darker City Streets: Closed.
Nice!! Sounds like an awesome addition Both of them!
I just have a couple clarification questions
Is he going to Seattle to cover the murders?
Is he ex-military of some kind? or an ex-military reporter? I'm a little fuzzy on that.
And the girl might have been his because he almost married her mother (thus almost his daughter, not his lover)?
Finally, do they already know anyone in Seattle or did you want them to meet people once there?
Yay!! So excited to have you playing with us!

Re: Darker City Streets: Closed.
Clarifying away! First he is ex-special forces, so he has seen a bunch of interesting and dark things in the third world hells where not everyone is so polite about their monstrous addictions. I will cover some of it later, if it needs to come up. Second a close brush with torture turned him into a military reporter for a little while. He got tired of third world slaughters and went back to the States.
Randomly, he met her mother, again in Colorado, where he lives. They talked a bit, and she was murdered. Caine didn't take that too well, and the police never found the killers, but they found bits of one, and living vegetable of the other (Alive, but with no eyelids, a head and a torso only). He was recently in Michigan investigating a crime lord, the one mentioned above. After cracking that case wide open to public opinion, he found out about some vague ties in Seattle. Caine does so like his work to wrap up tidily. Caine loves Elaine's daughter like his own, and thinks of her as a protege. So no, he doesn't think that way. Doesn't mean she does though.
So to wrap up, Caine went from special forces, to reporting on the military in third world areas, to reporting back in the States. He is going to Seattle to wind up a few vague leads, and decided to take the girl along to show her what reporting is like, and convince her writing novels is a better way to go.
Also, he does have some very interesting view on people like the Shadow. Considering the only difference between him and a serial killer is a small code of ethics, he is very put out with those who go ahead and go rampaging on civilians.
Edit:
Yes, Caine has a cousin who owns a glassblowing shop on the outskirts of Seattle, and that is the first stop. Next is the hotel. He also has some shady contacts with the FBI, considering how often they end up interacting with each other. Finally, he knows kinda knows a view people from "back in the day," that were vaguely saying they were going to settle down in Seattle. Most of them are going to be involved with crime in some way.

Sounds awesome, Kalaam.
A couple last things and you're good to enter Caine and girl into the IC.
One: Could we get basic physical descriptions for both of them?
Two: How old is Caine?
Then go ahead and begin posting.

Re: Darker City Streets: Closed.
Darion Caine is 6'1'' and fairly broad across the shoulders. He has blue eyes, a broken nose, and a rough hewn face. Several scars are prominent across his face. Three vertical slash marks down his left cheek, two s-shaped slashes curving around his right eye, and a deep gouge along his left cheekbone. Muddy brown hair is usually kept fairly short, and finger parted to the right side. Depending on his needs, Caine occasionally grows a beard, as is known for shaving every couple days as he considers it a hassle. Off-white smile, with a right corner of his mouth curving a little more than the left, giving the impression of a smirk.
Caine would be whipcord slim except for the painstakingly maintained thick slabs of lean muscles. These are also covered in scars from being shot, stabbed, fragmentation from mortars, grenades, even artillery, and of course a few very unnoticeable pale white ones from being tortured. His knuckles are heavily callused, and thick. It isn't uncommon to see some bruising along the forearms, knuckles and shins from martial arts training. He wears a plain silver ring on his left index finger with the words, Semper Fidelis, underneath the band as a gift from a marine buddy. Also, Caine possesses a concealed carry permit, and uses it. Caine runs, swims, and trains in martial arts every day. It can take up to six hours to complete all three, and he rarely sleeps more than seven hours a night.
He has a soft baritone, and some voice training. Despite that, he rarely sings, but rather whistles rather tunelessly. He rarely stands perfectly straight, but slouches some to conceal his height, and diminish his presence. He has two tattoos. They both are underneath his right bicep. The first is a red seal. The second is a black knight standing over a slain black dragon, sword in hand, with the words Wraith curving underneath. They are both about the size of a quarter, and the man who was able to create the latter is now dead, so no more unit commissions will every be given. When angry, he turns predatory, and moves like a killer.
Elaine has just turned eighteen years old three weeks ago. Instead of going on Spring Break with her friends to Florida, she is going on something much more exciting to her, a trip with Caine. An attractive girl, she stands five foot six, and is growing into some curves late. She also possesses some lean and toned muscles, but nothing compared to Caine's impressive strength. She has light brown hair, worn long in a braid, and a softened aquiline profile. She would blend into a crowd of similar attractive young women except for two things, her sparkling and beautiful blue-green eyes from her mother, and seriousness and gravitas not normally possessed by young women.
She feels safest with Caine who makes sure she stays in school, and goes to see her self-defense instructor regularly. However, when she wants to scare a boy off, its Caine she takes them too instead of her father. Paul is an excellent and fairly well known lawyer, but not quite as intimidating as an angered Caine. What makes him angry is the way he keeps being used as a guard dog. Despite her serious and reserved demeanor, it is mostly an act. She is just as emotionally vulnerable and impulsive as any teenager. An aspiring writer herself, she lives and dies on Caine's criticism.
That work?
Re: Darker City Streets: Closed.
Hey, Kail, should we happen to stay in the same hotel? Caine also likes the better nondescript hotels as places to stay. Either way, I am sorry, but I have at least two more posts before I feel like I can build up the back story enough to get interaction with some of the characters, and perhaps about a day or two to pass in the story.
